Ideas on a boy under the sea bday party?

Kristen

Ryder will be turning ONE in June so I want to plan an amazing party for him!
(yes I know he wont remember but I will be taking a bunch of pictures and im sure his daddy will be video taping him so he can see later)
My fiance at first thought it was girly but there will be no mermaids or anything like that NOT an ariel party. I was thinking more 20000 leagues under the sea. Then he came around to the idea since we wanted to do a construction theme and safari when he is older.. to remember. And no I will not be putting my boy in a Sailor suit!~ Haha tho, I think its cute. But anyway back on subject. I want to plan a boyish party for him "20000 leagues under the sea" And i would love any ideas to capture that theme and make it a great party!

The wording of your under the sea birthday party invitations can say "Calling all Jellyfish, Sharks, Squid and Seals, too...There's going to be an adventure, and we'd love to share it with you! You're O-Fish-ally invited to come under the sea. It's (your child's name) Under the Sea Birthday Party!". Then include day, time, address.

To welcome your guests, hang balloons and streamers on your mailbox and front door. Put sea life posters on the fence, and hang plastic tropical fish from the tree branches. Fill kiddie pools with water, and place them in the yard.

Decorate your under the sea birthday party room with green and blue balloons. Hang green "seaweed" streamers from the ceiling, chairs, or from the top of a windowsill. Cut out starfish, seahorses, and other sea animals from construction paper. Tape cutouts to some of the streamers.

Cover the lights in the room with blue cellophane paper, which will give the party "under water" feeling. Spread out any stuffed sea animals that you might have around the room.

Have Mylar fish and dolphin balloons free-floating in the area, and have lots of blue latex balloons on the floor to create "ocean atmosphere." Hang a fish net in the corner of the under the sea birthday party room.

Put a blue or turquoise tablecloth on your under the sea party table, and then spread multi-colored confetti around it. Put plastic fish in a clear bowl for table centerpiece. Hang a personalized theme "Happy Birthday!" banner in the area.

Lots of goldfish too! It's a great snaking food for one-year-olds.

He will be inviting about ten kids. He plays soccer, basketball, and baseball. He really likes video game. Hopefully that will help. Thank you!:)

My son had a birthday party for his 9th birthday in February. We invited all the boys in his class over and we served hot dogs and chips and orange soda (pretty cheap meal, actually) along with a home made birthday cake. It was cold outside, so we played games inside. It was a sports theme, and we played a basketball game where the boys lined up and tossed a mini-basketball in a garbage pail and each time they had to take a step backwards and eventually the kid who won got a prize. They loved that game so much we ended up playing it ten times even though there were no more prizes to win- they just wanted the title of "Winner". We also played musical chairs, which, believe it or not, the boys liked, and we played sports bingo. I made the cards for free with an online bingo card maker and we used pennies for bingo markers. We gave out little, cheap prizes. I didn't do too much decorating, just some balloons and streamers, but the dining room looked really festive for hardly any money at all! I did get sports plates, cups and napkins from the dollar store.

The point is, even if there are kids having expensive parties at gyms or pools, etc., most kids just like the attention given to them at their party and kids that age generally aren't materialistic and are just as happy to eat hotdogs or pizza and cake and get a little bit of candy in a goody bag on the way out! Simple is best- simple can be fun and super cheap! And keep it short- two hours is plenty for a party with a meal, games, birthday cake and maybe gift opening. Any longer than that and you will be going crazy- trust me.

You could have a party for 10 kids for about $25.00 if you shop at a dollar store, make your own food and cake, and make homemade invitations or use email to invite kids.

Balloons: $1.00
Streamers $2.00
Hotdogs and Buns: $4.00
Chips: $3.00
Soda: $2.00
Cake Mix: $2.00
Candles: $1.00
Cups, plates, forks, napkins: $4.00
Prizes and candy and goody bags: $6.00
