Birthday party ideas?

Return Of

I have a pretty significant birthday coming up and I want to do something memorable that can involve a lot of people. So far the only ideas that people have come up with are some sort of backpacking/camping trip or a scavenger hunt. Anyone have any good ideas? Or bad ideas?

Answer
Have a murder mystery dinner party; have a gambling themed night - like have a poker table, a blackjack table, etc; maybe a 40s themed night (or 30s, 50s, 60s, 70s, etc) where everyone comes dressed from that period of time; take a trip somewhere, like stay in a cabin for a weekend, or go to the Caribbean or somewhere in South America for a bit, or even stay in another city for a while (somewhere you've always wanted to go but never got the chance to actually do it); erm for a bad idea lol - spend the night in an old haunted plantation (the ones with bed & breakfast kinda thing, some places offer rooms that aren't haunted lol or you could stay inside the actual house with your guests).

Any suggestions on surprise birthday party for girlfriend? Houston?

just Pham

Hi I'm planning to throw a surprise birthday party for my girlfriend. I'm thinking of trying to get all of her friends together and surprising her. Thing is, I don't know where to throw it at, OR how to get started. Any ideas or good suggestions? If it helps, its gonna be in Houston so if you know any good places to book, thanks a bunch!! Good idea to throw it at a house or a public place?

Answer
Answer: I would start by asking her closest friends for ideas. They will have familiarity with the territory, available venues, and what may makes her rock. You are in Texas, how 'bout a ho down BBQ in a park. Perhaps her friends would volunteer their homes for you to host. Both the park and friends can save you lots of $ . They can help you with decorating, themes, invitations, another words all planning, and set up. Hell, they will probably do all the work lovingly. You will of course have to offer to pay them, and give them a small token of appreciation.

Birthday party invitation ideas?

Erika

I stopped doing the whole by scratch thing a few parties and 2 kids ago. Now, I let the kids pick a few things that I make...the rest is store bought or bought handmade from other people.

My daughter picked the invitations & cake for me to make for her 10th. She is having a Little House on the Prairie party. The cake is easy...I am making little covered wagons out of apple spice cake.

I have no real ideas about the invitaitons though....I need ideas! Thanks!

Answer
Get a print out of a covered wagon and have your daughter color them in...write info on the back and send it...

12th Birthday party invitations?

VOLLEYB

Hi, so, my 12th birthday party is coming up soon. I am planning on having about 6 or 7 people over staying at a hotel. WE will swim and do the normal. And possibly go to the mall. I need some ideas for invitations, I don't want plain, boring invitations on paper, I want something like putting it inside a balloon, or writing on a balloon. But I dont know how I will deliver the balloon. I dont know where everyone lives and can't give it to them at school.

So, if you have any ideas of how to deliver the balloons, please comment. Or if you have any other ideas for invitations. Answer and explain them please.

Thanks soooo much.xxx

Answer
Well if everyone whos invited to the party gets together sometime before the party you can pass the balloons out then, otherwise your out of luck :(. You could get candy bars or boxes, and write the details on that, or you could give everyone $10 attached with a note on a bright colored piece of paper and say bring this $10 to spend at the mall on whatever you like! (and the $10 would be the goody bag instead) (or it could be a picture of a $10 bill and then when the come they'd get the real thing just so they dont lose it or forget to bring it )

WHAT KIND OF FOODS AND DRINKS, GAMES,ACTIVITTIES,JUST SOMETHIN FUN

Answer
i think it would be really fun to have a "hollywood" themed party.
Send out star shaped invitations similar to the stars on the walk of fame, with each person's name on it.

Tell your guests to dress in their most glamorous clothes and lay out a red carpet or a sheet.. or even just sprinkle little gold stars over the entry way.

Serve delicate finger food and fake cocktails and non alcoholic champagne.

Here are some ideas for games:

There are many elements to any good party â atmosphere, food and guest list among them â but party games are by far the most fun. These Hollywood party games are sure to be crowd-pleasers:

âAnnnnd Cut!â Hollywood Party Game

Prior to the party, write down several different movies onto slips of paper, and put the slips of paper into a hat or bowl. Have the guests pair up, and choose one pair to be âactorsâ first. The âactorsâ have to choose a movie from out of the hat, and act out a scene. The other players have to guess which movie is being acted out, with the first person to guess being the next person to âactâ with their partner. The game continues until all pairs have had a chance to be âactorsâ.

âFamous One Linersâ Hollywood Party Game

This Hollywood party game is a great one for guests to test out their movie knowledge. Prior to the party, write down famous lines from movies the guests will know. Gather the guests in a group, and one at a time read out each movie quote. The first person to call out the correct answer gets a point. To make this a little harder, for an extra point have them name the actor, actress or character who said it. Once all the quotes have been called out, the party guest with the most points is named the winner. Using Hollywood party games as a starting point, itâs easy to plan a Hollywood party. Itâll truly be a night worth remembering!

Formal Birthday Party Invitations?

barso*re*m

i've decided what I wanna do for my b'day party....but the thing is...i want it to be a little more on the formal side...dresses, skirts, nice tops that sorta thing. Now how do I say that politely in my invitation?

Answer
you could be cool, and say something like:

"time to strut your stuff and be the prettiest you can be! come in mildly formal wear and be prepared for a nice time. no heels required, but skirts would be great! hope you can make it, it's gonna be a blast!"
and then include your information. if they have questions then include your number. i'm actually thinking about having a very similar party so feel free to email me. i'd love to get planning ideas from eachother!
have fun and happy birthday.

I need a good online invitation maker can anyone help me and give me some sites??

Q. I need to make a good party invitiation someone help!

Answer
If you want to send the invitations via Email, I suggest using Evite. They have lots and lots of invitations for all sorts of parties and events. If you want to print and mail them, you can go to the HP website, Microsoft Office Templates, American Greetings (you have to pay for this one...) to name a few. I just did my son's 6th Birthday Party through Evite, and included a map for people who weren't familiar with the area; it worked out great! Good Luck!

what would be a good theme for a birthday party for a 12 yr old?

Answer
Movie party theme for hall or at home. Have a movie themed party. They sell decorations for this at oriental trading. com and you can also find some movie stuff on the hollywood sites I mentioned above. If at home watch a cool movie, have popcorn and all kids of candy and junk food. Make or buy pizza and have sundaes. Have a sleep over with the girls if you want. Have a dance in a hall with this theme. Have everhyone wear a movie star costume.

Luau, beach Hawaii: Orientaltrading has the coolest decorations and favors for this theme and the cutest tropical invitation in the bottle. Give your guests leis as they come in. Play Limbo, Hula hoop, and have a few grass skirts and everyone (including the guys) have to give hulaing a try. Again if you have room to do this at home or you can rent a small room. Tropical pinata. Twister. Hawaii site including games: www.alohafriendsluau.com. Cool invite: Flower lei and attach a printed invitation card.

Neon/Glow in the dark This is a cool theme!
invites:
For the invites oriental trading has neon badges. They are neon nylon necklaces that have a clear plastic case. You need to make the cards on your computer using the business card maker on your computer or just use the MS Word. You might want to put a really big VIP in color and on the back at the top Nicole's Neon Bash in cool color and font and then the party info, who what when.

Oriental trading sells Neon gangster hats.

favors:
Oriental sells neon sunglasses.
Oriental also sells neon jelly bracelets
Glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces, lot of sites have these.
Neon Twist and Glow lollipops.
Neon nail polish u.s. toy company
Neon lazer candy (just like pixie sticks but in neon)
Neon slap basket at u.s. toy company
Decorations:
More neon themes go along with Glow in the dark.

windy city novelties has neon tablecloths, cups, napkins. Just type neon in their search bar.

Balloons:
Shindigz has black light sensitive neon latex balloons. Again put neon in their search bar.

Shindigz also sells a neon lights personalized banner.

Oriental trading sells a neon fringe banner

Oriental trading sells neon balloon weights for the balloons you buy.

Party cheap has neon party horns and garland.

Glow in the dark sites:
glow source
shop.glogames.com Lots of games here.
Light God

U.S. toy company sells neon body glitter.
Windy city novelties sell lumi balloons that are balloon with lights in them.

Large neon party pack (kinda expensive) at windy city novelties.

So to search for neon and glow items go to all the party sites ands put that in the search bar:
Shindigz
Party cheap
oriental trading.
U.S. toy Company.
Windy city novelties

Any ideas for a camp rock party?

jobrofan4l

ok! im having a camp rock party for the premiere of the movie! any ideas on food, decorations, games, and any other things!! thanks alot!!

Answer
Hey, I'm having a camp rock party too! What I did was create a handmade sign by looking at the title of the movie. (I just cut out letters and a guitar and put them on some orange paper, and viola!) Also, I'm going to have character cupcakes. I found these finger puppets in a issue of J-14, and I thought they would be great. As for food, I'm just having the normal party snacks like popcorn, and maybe something healthy. :)

Hope your party goes well!

movie night party(decorations)?

sara!!~~

ok so on friday in having a movie party for camp rock!! how should i decorate my house i want it to look like a movie theater!! please help asap!! thanks!

Answer
You can get red and white striped popcorn bags at a local party store. They might have them at walmart too, but I'm not sure. If they don't the multi colored paper bags they have there are the next best thing. If you want to take it to the next level go to your local movie theater and ask to purchase popcorn bags and cups to make it more realistic. They also sell buckets of popcorn at video stores. If you have the money you can use a blanket or movable red carpet to lead to the room the party is taking place. You can print or buy movie posters (they give these out for free at the video store near me, and at the movie theater) or just use pictures of stars from magazines. Trying copying whatever the movie theater would sell (boxes of candy are a must!) You can make signs for the path to your house or just in front of your house if you don't have a path. They can have (Your name)'s Theater
NOW PLAYING: Camp Rock and put the time the movie starts. You can create a room with a sort of mini-arcade with games and prizes you can win. Making your own movie trivia game would be cool, or one about movie stars.

Make your own funnel cakes or candy apples could be fun aswell. :)

For my 21st birthday...party question?

Q. I want to rent a party bus for my 21st birthday so my friends and I can go drink and not have to worry about a taxi or a designated driver. The problem is, it's kind of expensive and I can't completely pay for it on my own. Is it rude to request about $10 from everyone. I'm going to be supplying the alcohol, but its just too much to have to pay to tip the driver, renting the bus and the alcohol. Do you think its ok if I ask them to bring $10 on the invitation?
My parents aren't able to fund the whole excursion as it is $300 not including alcohol.

Answer
I'm a fan of the responsible drinking and non-driving. Thumbs up on that.

I'm on the side of pitching in to make it work. Heck, if my kid wanted to do this, i'd party fund the adventure as well. I'm sure most parents would.
Some people disagree that if you're throwing a party you should bear the costs in doing so. I disagree. A birthday is a gathering of people that want to celebrate your birth (and your arrival to the drinking world!). My guess is that they'd want to HELP you celebrate-to be part of the event. You only get one 21st birthday.
I'm not familiar with the belief that an invitation to a function entitles the guest to freebies.

Get crazy (well...) and have fun. The key is to surround yourself with positive people and great experiences.

Birthday Invitations?

Lisa

This year for my son's 10th birthday party, we are taking him and a few of his closest friends to an arena football game. I want to make our own invitation but I need ideas on what to say and how it should look.

I have looked at all different websites and have seen the "sport event ticket", but they were either to costly of you need to have a minimum of 30.

Here is some info regarding exactly what is going to happen that day...

2:45 meet at our house
3:00 leave for the game
4:00 tailgating (pizza, pop, cake, games)
6:00 family fun zone at the arena
7:05 football game
10:00 autographs
11:00 leave arena
11:30 pickup at our house

Does anyone have any suggestion?

Answer
Vista Print has a great invitation that looks like a ticket. It is $7.99 for a set of 10. You won't be able to list everything that you are doing that day, but they are really cool and easy to make/use:

Birthday Party?

Amy Clark

My oldest will be turning 8 the end of march and is in second grade. I'm looking for some creative / inexpensive birthday party ideas. Last year we did bowling, but because it was so expensive she could only invite a few kids from school, because all of her cousins were going also. So any ideas? She wants to invite about 20 children this year (i know they all don't come- and i know if i have too i can make her cut down the list) but think it would be fun to have a big birthday party with all of her friends and cousins but I'm a single mom and full-time student and don't have a big budget. Also any ideas for some creative- possibly make yourself birthday party invitations? Thanks in advance!
p.s How early do you send the invitation out? 2 weeks? And also, when I was in school we always took invitations and handed them out at school, but kids felt left out or parents never got them etc.. am i better off to send them to school w/ her or just send them in the mail to their homes

Answer
My daughter turned 9 this year and we usually have the big party with about 20 kids and when it's over not counting the cake and extra decor, gift and invitations & goodie bags it costs us about $200. This year I tried something totally different. I asked her to choose 5 girlfriends, with a little of my influence, and we had a slumber party. It was so much fun and we didn't have a single issue about someone not being invited blues. I printed up the invitations on the computer and glued them to some starry card stock I grabbed at the craft store. I even made pillow case envelopes with "no sew" and starry material, we only used 1/2 yard. There was no particular theme. When they got here we had a scavenger hunt in the neighborhood, I split them in 2 teams and had my mom help watch a group.
After that we had cake and opened presents. We even gave pedicures and manicures with colored polish that we already had and nail stickers from Wal-Mart. A girlfriend loaned us her kareoke machine and they sang to high school musical songs. To wind down the evening we popped popcorn and laid out our sleeping bags and prepared for a high school musical marathon. I also brought out huge candies like you purchase at the theatre that I bought at the dollar tree. In the morning they ate a pancake breakfast and I sent them home at 9:30 so that I could rest up without kids here all day.
With the exception of a dozen balloons and streamers we saved a ton of money. Oh yeah, their goody bags were pillow cases I bought at the factory outlet for $1 ea and they all signed them and colored with Sharpies, left over candy and Bella Sara card packs that cost 2.50 at a learning store. It was a complete success, they still talk about it almost 2 months later.
As for invites, you can't pass them out in class unless you invite the whole class, so we hand delivered them 2 weeks in advance. She loved taking them to the door and giving them to her friends.

i need a party idea for a 13 year old boy. any suggestions?

Answer
Wow, seems most people here think that 13 is really young. It's not, a 13 year old boy is on the verge of being a young man. They would be seriously offended by some of these suggestions.

Does he skateboard? You could have a party at a skatepark, those are good places.

A paintball party, let him get it all out of his system lol

Comedy night at home, rent tons of good comedy films and order in pizza

Camping for the weekend, go fishing, canoing, etc

Have fun :)

Throwing an 80s themed party?

Katrina U

I am throwing an 80's themed (30th) birthday party for my sister-in-law. I need some ideas for the party.. as well as a list of clothing for men and women to wear. I would like to add on the invitation that women will not be allowed without wearing ____ and _____ and men will not be allowed without _____.
Ideas please! :-)

Answer
You could give out little mini gift-bags at the end with Rubix Cubes in, and a pair of fake Ray-Ban sunglasses, and Bubble Tape in etc. They were big back then :)

For music- Prince, Michael Jackson, U2, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Queen- they were all big then :)

You could have costumes like people have to dress like a celebrity or rockstar or singer or actor from the 80's. Michael Jackson and Madonna influenced a lot of style then.

Fashion- Big hair, Converse shoes, button down collars, shoulder pads, play-suits, casual t-shirt under a suit, huge crucifix jewellery, studs, tulle skirts, acid washed jeans, green red and yellow, headscarves, gold jewellery, denim jackets, ripped jeans,- in America, preppy style was begining to come into fashion with sweater sets, and polo shirts by designers like Ralph Lauren.

For food and drinks- apple Kool-aid, Banana split ice-cream, Sherbert, Ben & Jerrys ice cream, Candy necklaces, chilli-dogs, diet coke, fanta, frozen yogurt, fudge cookies, gummi bears, Hubba Bubba bubblegum, Mars Bars, McDonalds.
:)

Sounds fun, have a good time! :)

Should I list what my child likes on his birthday party invitations?

Brina

Answer
I actually saw a birthday card insert on ebay one day, that I am sorry I didn't pay more attention to (or order)...basically from what I remember it was like a business card, that gets inserted in with birthday invitation. There is a small pic of the party theme (i.e.: Elmo, princess, whatever-maybe matching the invitation theme) and it listed the following:
clothing size, shoe size, favorite animals or characters, etc. (I suppose you could change it to meet your needs)
I have twins turning two in August...I think this is a wonderful idea! Having to return clothes that don't fit, or toys that we already have is at times such a hassle especially with kids in tow, as we all know. I figure it might end some of the continuous calls as to what they will like or not like or what sizes they wear, etc.
I think partygoers would appreciate knowing what the birthday boy or girl wants. It still gives people the option to buy anything they want, but helps them in knowing sizes, etc. I do not think this will in any way affect how they appreciate a gift in the long run. Using this idea for children from ages 1 to 5 or 6...why not? I can't see using this idea when a child is older (or for an adult). Now that might be construed as tacky.
Personally I think including a little information would be a good idea. I intend on doing it...even if not for friends...at least for the family members! There is just too much to do in planning a party (even for little ones), that I don't have the time to always field these questions.
Go for it! Make it tactful and I think you'll find others trying to do the same in the future.
Good luck! and Have a wonderful happy stressfree birthday party!

1st birthday party!?

My son is going to be turning one May 2 and i want to have a party for him but i am not sure where. My BF wants to have it at Peter piper pizza, Itz, or chuckE Cheese. Do you think that is to much for a 1st b-day party!? Or should we just have a party at home? I want it to be fun! What would be cute invitations? Or party theme?
My BF already took off work just to have a party for him!

Answer
Hi!

I agree with most of the other answers... I think you would have the best time by having a small party at home....
As for invitation / theme ideas... here are some cute ones:

Suggestions on wording for custom invitations for twin's 3rd birthday party needed! PLEASE help!?

Colleen S

Hi, I'm having a difficult time trying to find exactly what I need & was wondering if anyone has any suggestions?! I have boy/girl twins turning three and want to have custom invitations made for their birthday party. The party is going to be halloween-themed and held at a garden center, with a haunted tunnel, scarecrow-making, panning for gold etc...I did find a nice invitation that has a fall theme with room for pictures on it, but now need to come up with wording that is appropriate to fit not only the theme, but the age, and makes sense for both a boy and girl!

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated as I need to order the invitations Soon!
Thanks so much in advance!!
Obviously you need something better to do with your time as well, if you feel the need to take time out of your life to rudely respond to my "petty" question! Please people, have you not heard of the phrase, "if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all"??
By the way...I have plently to do, but please excuse me if I'd like to have a nice party for my children!

Answer
Might I suggest some nice volunteer work if you have nothing better to do with your time?

It's a 3 year old's party for Pete's sake! Not the Presidential Inauguration. Relax, breathe and get a grip!

birthday party ideas?

Megan

Im 13 and my bday is coming up.. all of my friends are having awesome parties and i need ideas for one. it cant be too expensive and also cant be like a little kid party.. something cool please!

Answer
Make over party - have a couple of aunts/friends etc apply nail varnish and facials to all your friends while you lie back and relax! Alternatively have everyone in the kitchen making their own face packs etc.. ok, maybe that's not so cool - sorry.

Cocktails party - serve virgin cocktails and theme with palms trees etc

Just Dance Party - borrow a wii and extra controllers and dance the night away - also works for Mamma Mia parties etc Don't forget the 70s clothes & flower power!

Goth/Punk party - dress up in your black clothes and put a safety pin through your nose (no, not a real one) Listen to cool music.

Camp in the garden (you don't mention what time of year your party will be, could be chilly though !!)

Science party - make your own slime and sherbet and stuff - you never grow out of making slime...ok, I admit it, I never grew out of making slime...

Check out the price of hiring an inflatable bungee or similar - they're not so expensive as you might think.

Hire a really cool face painter (definitely not your Mum) and have them paint you in cool ways - if it's summer you can have them paint your arms and legs too - really good face painting is not just for kids - some face painters will run a workshop where you can paint each other which could be great fund and make for some good photos!

Hope you like one of my ideas - it's just taken me 1/2 hr to think of all these!

Need some camping party ideas for my 14th?

Charlie

Its mine and my twin Sisters 14th birthday coming up soon, and for the last 3 years I haven't had a party! And I really desperately want a party, so I have come up with the idea of having a sleep over/ camping trip (but in my garden! Does any one have some good ideas for cheap camping games and decorations and maybe a tent :p All answers will be taken into consideration! Thanks

Answer
Here's a few thoughts:

-Lighting: If you've never made "luminarios" (Southwestern lanterns) this would be the perfect time. Take some (about 20) small (lunch size) paper bags and fill the bottoms with about 1 inch of sand or dry potting soil. Set a small votive candle in the center of each bag. Place the "luminarios" all along the garden path and when the sun goes down, light the candles. Make sure the wick is trimmed short before you light them and that you set the candle directly in the center to prevent them from catching the bag on fire.

-Campfire: Since building an actual campfire in the garden might not be "feasible", try to locate a modern "firepit" if you can. If you don't have one, then maybe your family or friends might have one. Make sure you have a netted lid for it to prevent the ashes from flying away. You've got to have a campfire...what's camping without one. Don't make the fire too big though. Also, get out those roasting sticks for making s'mores (fire toasted marshmallows with chocolate tabs sandwiched between two graham crackers) & hot dogs for the weeny roast.

-Games (go old school): Charades, Shadow puppets, checkers (have a tournament), a pinata (filled with lots of great candy), Movie/TV/Music/Sports trivia, play the "Guess Who I Am" game: You think up 20 different questions...Like: My favorite vacation spot is? My favorite movie is? Send an email out to all your friends with the questions and they send the answers back only to you. During the game you read the question...then an answer...the others have to guess who gave that answer. You will be the only one to know the correct answers. Each correct answer gets something like an M&M candy or a point system for bigger prizes...whatever.

January Birthday Ideas Anyone?

Hoola Hoop

Ok, well im girl and my birthday isn't until January but i need to start getting ideas and sending invitations out. This time of year obviously its going to be cold(ish) so i dont really know what to do for a bunch of 13 and 14 year old boys and girls.
I do not want to:
go skating (not everyone knows how to skate)
bowling because its boring
laser tag because its like $8 for 15 mins a game
movies because a bunch of kids at the movies for a birthday party is not a good combonation
im open to pretty much anything other than what i listed above as long as its not extremely expensive
Thanks in advance

Answer
My birthday is in January too, and it sounds like you are the same age. :0) I've always enjoyed outdoor snow parties. You have a snowball fight, etc. and then you come in and have hot chocolate. Ask your guests to bring their favorite DVDS, and watch a couple that everybody agrees on while you warm up and eat popcorn.

Coworkers party I do not want to go to?

Scarlet

I have a coworker, she is mildly insane and talks incessantly about boys and the crushes she has on them. (She is 30 years old.) I don't like being in the same room with her, honestly.

She has decided to throw herself a housewarming party. Or, an apartment-warming party, rather. It is pretty obvious that she expects everyone to bring food/wine/gifts, because she keeps mentioning how she loves throw pillows. (-_-) She has invited me to this event, and it is, unfortunately, on a Saturday at 8:00.

Now, I would go to this party, if it were on a Monday-Wednesday. I wouldn't go on Thursday, because that's Jersey Shore night, or Friday, because that's movie/bar night. On Saturday, there is a plethora of things I would rather be doing, such as going to the casino, going to the club downtown, or frankly just picking my nose would be more of a sufficient use of my time than attending her party.

Regrettably she ambushed me with the invitation so I couldn't think of an excuse right away. Can someone please help me with a good one? I have three siblings so I was planning to use a "birthday" as an excuse, but the aforementioned host is a Facebook junkie and also a stalker so she has taken the time to friend request all of my siblings and has access to their birthdays, which are all in the summer months.

Anyone?? Help? Love you guys, me thanks.
Haha! I love your responses, you guys rock my universe. My siblings are all Facebook friend wh0res, and will accept everyone and their mom due to their competitive nature.

Answer
Just keep it simple, so you won't have an elaborate lie you'll need to keep track of later on. The best way would be to "remember" that you have prior plans. Preferably with someone she doesn't know in person or on facebook.

Sweet 16 party! HELP!?

Casey K

My friend and I have the same birthday and were both turning 16! It's at the end of February and we live in a pretty cold place...so no beach parties or camping ): There will be around 25 people girls and boys. So we want to know what GAMES/ideas and what we should do in general (sledding, sleepover for girls, Wii, movie?)
It CANNOT be expensive! We aren't able to rent a room or whatever. We just want it to be laid back!

and we for sure want a lot of fun game ideas!

Thank you so much! (:

Answer
Have some indoor and outdoor things in mind for the winter party. If you can go sledding..then make sure there's a time and place and sleds for you to take turns with. Making a snow sculpture contest of 2 teams or 3.

Indoor things (besides the wii and Twister or those Let's Dance videos, which are fun!..)...have some balloons on hand. Blow one up per each guest...tuck a note inside each one before giving an instruction for them to do....object of game is to have 2 teams and place 2 chairs far across the room. First person of each team grabs a balloon, rushes to chair, sits on balloon til it pops and shouts out what's written on the note and runs back to tag next member. You could put fortunes in them...or you can write things like "skip back to your team", "run backwards to your team", "do a somersault back to your team", "hop on 1 foot back to your team", "twirl around back to your team at least 3 times"...etc. (You may have to repeat some if you can't think of enough..that's ok). First team done wins.

Here's another one: The M&M Candy Hunt Game (candie colors have point values and are hidden in baggies which guests have to find, unaware of what each color is worth)...how to play>>
http://www.easy-party-ideas-and-games.com/mm-hunt.html

Here's another game with candy (You can tell each guest to bring 2 candy bars to the party..unopened!..take them from them when they come...or you can buy them, make sure there's 2 for each guest)...
Objective: Each person tries to get as many candy bars as they can.

Materials:
2 Candy bars for each player or couple
1 brown lunch sack for each player
a Timer, and a Wood die
a Bowl

Timer: Set timer in another room, so no one can watch to see how much time is left. A stop timer is perfect. Most families play for about a half-hour. After playing a few times, you will know how much time needs to be adjusted. Itâs fun to vary the time from each game to keep them off guard.

Preparation: If using this game for a party, assign each person to bring two candy bars. Take the candy when they arrive. One person (mother, father, or party leader) places two candy bars in a brown sack. Fold down the top of each sack the same so they can't see. If there are extra bars, place them in a bowl. Place a mark, (x) on the bottom of one of the bags.

Starting the game:

1. Have everyone gather in a circle.

2. Place bowl inside the circle.

3. Each person picks a sack out of the center.

4. Explain that each sack contains two candy bars and no one is to look until directed to do so.

5. Each person looks into their own sack but does not tell what kind of bars they have.

6. Everyone closes their bag. Players may look inside any sack that is their own during the game.

7. Who goes first? The player with the mark on the bottom of their sack. That player rolls first then follows to the left.

Roll Die: A player has to follow what has been rolled.

Now, if a #1 is rolled>> Take the Bowl: If rolled the player takes all the bars.

if #2 is rolled>> Trade sacks: Player picks another player to trade sacks with. Remember: You want the most candy

if a #3 is rolled>> Lose a turn: Lose next turn.

if a #4 is rolled>> Add Bar to Bowl: The player takes a bar from his sack and adds to the bowl. Donât let people know your sack is empty. This might help out when trading. If you receive an empty sack donât say anything. Just hope you can pass is off

if a #5 is rolled>> Double take: A player who rolls this takes one bar from the players on his left and right. If the player is out of bars, youâre out of luck.

and if a #6 is rolled>> Guess a Bar: Players need to watch bars and sacks as they are exchanged.
When rolled a player says a person's name and tries to guess the candy bar in their sack. The players onl

13th Birthday Party Ideas?

Z

I'm turning 13 this December (the 29th) but i'm planning to have my party January 5th, or a Saturday in January.
I'm not that much of a girly-girl, I definitely don't want pink decorations or invitations, blue, turquoise, purple, absolutely!
Any ideas for food, decorations, games, links to cool planning websites or invitations? Thanks so much!
And this party has my guy friend and my girl friends AND all my family, so it has to be something everybody will like. Spa parties probably won't work.

Answer
I'm 14 and I think that having an ice skating party would be a great idea.(since it'swinter and everyone likes that)

Food:
Pizza(everyones fave lol)
chips
soda
birthday cake(w/your fave design on it, ice cream cake would go w/the theme)
brownies
candy

set-up:
meet at your house and than you guys go in a carpool to the skate rink where you guys could skate for about 2 and a half hours or so, than you could go back to your house, have pizza, than have a dance party(whatever music you like is great, but I would choose holiday up-beat songs like the radio carol of the bells, winter wonderland, and songs such as cotton eye joe. barbie girl(everyone will laugh at that one, but in a good way), and great balls of fire. ciara goodys and one two step are also great and Haly Scarnato tell him, and turn the beat around are great for getting everyone moving. after that you could have the b-day cake and open your gifts.

Decorations:white and ice blue streamers, silver balloons, banner saying happy birthday, pin the tail on the donkey(I know it sounds dorkey but it gets so crazy and fun) a pinyata in the shape of an ice skate, and pictures of skaters all over the walls(hence christina yamaguchi, sarah hughs, michelle kwan.

games:
pin the tail on the donkey
pinyata
dance party
treasure hunt(hide iteams around the house such as lip gloss, mini bottles of body spray from bath and body works, mini pinball hand-held games(for guys)claires earrings, phone keychains, skating pins, pencils, pens, notebooks, juice boxes, hackey sacks, (p.s give the guys a seperate list with things that they would want to find) and whoever wins could get a super prize such as a purse from target like this
http://www.target.com/Xhilaration-Heart-Handbag-Pink/dp/B000OMEZEQ/ref=sc_ri_3/601-8041683-6633733
movie tickets, gift cards to panera, blockbuster, or fave clothing store, paylas, orticket to go ice skating, five dollars,or a webkinz, be bratz dolls(4 fun), for the guys it could be a soccer ball, sports jersey, blockbuster gift cards.

Invitations
http://ecards.myfuncards.com/myfuncards/Occasions/Invitations/11173/mfc_birthday_celebration.jhtml (send 2 all your friends)
or just make a card(that way you can do it any way you want)

other ideas of parties could be:
indoor pool party
movie thearter party
mini golf indoor party
(same after idea you just go to a different place. you may have to adjust the decorations a little to work with the different ideas but they should all work. the blockbuster gift cards would work awesome with the movie thearter idea.

oh yea the pinyata could be in the shape of an ice skate, a golf ball, movie ticket, or pool cap. You could also make it pin the tail on the reindeer sience it's near christmas. inside the pinyata you could put winter candy, and winter oreos for your food would work great.you could also use winter themed candy for your table candy.

hope this helps

Hi! I want to celebrate my 2 year old son's birthday in an economic way. Can somebody suggest me something interesting. Thanks.

Answer
I guess the kids who are coming to the birthday party will be in the age group of 1-6years. You need to decide depending on whether you want to give different gifts for boys and girls and also depending on your budget. I think some innovative options would be - 1. Bookends ( to encourage them to read ) 2. Height Charts - kids of this age love to keep their eyes on their height 3. hand Puppets. 4. Blocks are also a good idea. You can get them in small packs. and most of all I love giving Books, to encourage them to read!

Birthdays have always been regarded as special days by almost all cultures and civilizations since times immemorial. Today, the birthday boys and girls are usually given special privileges on their birthdays, including a ban on scolding, no home-work, presentation of gifts and invitation to their best friends to parties, dance and music.

At the Forte Grand, we have perfected the art of hosting birthday parties for almost all age groups, especially children. Most importantly, we understand what children enjoy and we have a feel for what grown ups enjoy, especially when it comes to birthdays celebrations.

Birthdays are one of the best times of the year for celebrating with your family and friends. Need help with b-day party idea?

My sons b-day is next weekend and we are going to have a b-day party for him since I don't have allot of time I am going to email the invitations. We will be having it at my house and I am getting a dunk tank, water balloons, sprinkler and a big water slide and what ever water stuff I can think of. He will be turning 7 I would like to write something cute for the invites PLEASE help any ideas what i can wirte and any other water things you can think of.

Answer
Sending your sons birthday invitations is a great idea!
I would write something like this in the card:
Your invited to (Your son name)'s Birthday!
When-
Where-
RSVP- Call (Numbers)

If they don't call before 3 days of the party then I'd call them and ask if they received the invitation.

Food-
Order some pizza
Have some chips for snack
Buy a birthday cake
Have some popcicles for kids that are allergic to cake.

"Water Stuff"
Water balloons
Water guns (You could get each child one and have them take it home for a party favor) Heres a 4 pack. http://cgi.ebay.com/Splash-Cyber-Series-X-29-Water-Gun---4-Pack_W0QQitemZ360152967228QQcmdZViewItem
You could play Drip Drip Drop, It's a game with a water bottle and its exactly like duck duck goose except you poar water on their head!

Party Bag-
The water guns
Some candy-Lollipops, Tootsie rolls, Airheads. Take your son to the dollar store and have him pick out candy.
Stickers-Dog stickers, spongebob stickers. Also have your son pick out stickers.
Kooky pens- there really cool pens.

Good luck and I hope your son has a nice birthday!

ok so im having a rave birthday theme party for my 17 b day..?

scared gir

so im having a rave themed bday party and idk what type of foods i should serve or drinks or anything i need ideas plz help!!

Answer
Don't be Scared Girl! Raves bring together diverse individuals with a shared interest in high energy music and dancing. Raves parties have become quite popular within youth culture. Plan to make your party stand out from the rest with a theme.

Step 1

Select a theme: One to two months in advance, consider the atmosphere you would like for your party. Choose a single theme or variations of a single theme. Themes can be based on a geographic location, a point in time, an event, a holiday, movie and literary characters, or even a color. Incorporate rave toys like flashing jewelry, party sticks, mirrored balls, lighted items, or fog, foam and bubble machines. Creatively incorporate your theme throughout the party.

Step 2

Assemble a team: Although you may find people willing to work for free, be prepared to offer small incentives. Have 4 or 5 workgroups with assigned roles and specific tasks. For example, you may have a Fundraiser Team, Location Team, Advertisement Team, Music & Lights Team or Set-up/Clean-up Team. Each team should consider how to incorporate the theme within their particular tasks.

Step 3

Determine the budget: Rave costs will depend on the size and location of resources. Partner with people willing to contribute money or donate items to avoid or limit use of your personal finances. Keep door charges to a minimum.

Step 4

Advertise to desired participants: During your planning phase, start getting the word out and a buzz started. Whether the rave will be invitation-only or open to the public, be creative in incorporating the theme in flyers, stickers, websites or any other marketing materials.

Step 5

Secure a space: Consider a space that will allow for the full expression of the theme. A beach may be an excellent location for a luau-themed rave. The space should be safe, well-ventilated, and appropriate to the size and entertainment needs of the rave. There should be room for dancing as well as sit-down conversation. Other considerations include accessibility, parking, noise level and any issue that may be problematic for neighboring residents and businesses. Be creative in your location selection. Raves can be held in a variety of venues including rooftops, warehouses, barns and bars.

Step 6

Secure music and other audiovisual elements: Select music, DJs and live bands to further enhance the party theme. Certain music may seem a better fit for a rave set in 4000 A.D. on planet Saturn. Once you have identified the right entertainment, negotiate hours of work, compensation and playlist. Determine whether you will need to rent speakers, monitors, turntables and other sound equipment. Also incorporate the theme in your use of visual effects. Projected slides and light imagery can make an unforgettable rave.

Step 7

Limit effect of drug/alcohol use: Do your best to prevent the abuse of drugs and alcohol during the rave. Prohibit the sell and use of illegal drugs on-site. Be sure that those consuming alcohol are of legal age and not over-doing it. Provide non-alcoholic options, water and snacks for party-goers. Consider having a "chill out" room for those who may have overindulged in drugs and alcohol or suffer from dehydration and exhaustion.

I'm doing a birthday party for my 1, 6 and 40 yr old. I need a cute saying for the invitation?

I need a cute saying to put on the party invitation. Please help!

Answer
How about something like- "still down with the kids!" for your 40 year old, or "no grown ups allowed!"? Maybe something teasing about the fact that --- is turning 40, like "it's all downhill from here." or just the word "Help!" being as you have your hands full with a one and six year old.
Just a few ideas. :-)

2-Should I just do invitations through a Facebook event and phone those who don't have FB, or should I just stick to old fashioned, written, mailed invitations? Or both?

3-Should I just invite my close-close friends, as a smaller group (7ish people?) or should I do a bigger party with all of my friends (well, only my girlfriends :P)? The awkward thing is, if say, I invite person A, whom I'm good friends with, and don't invite person B, who I'm more just acquaintances with, person B would be offended because I invited person A, and not her. How do I get around that?

4-I'm thinking of a sleep-over party, good idea or no?

5-For events, I'd like to have dancing, singing, and dressing up. The main theme of my party is gonna be like "Gone wild at 16" or something, and we're all gonna dress up, do hair and makeup at the party (that's why no guys :) If I did a sleepover thing we could also do movies, and board games or something. What are some fun games to do that teenage girls would like? That a relatively big group can do? It could be an outdoor game.

6- I guess this ties in with #5, but what are some cool, fun activities that lots of people would enjoy? Like would card-making, or rubber stamping seem really weird? What about doing a cooking project with everyone? (All my friends will probably have fun no matter what we do, but I'm trying to think of something FUN, that would be able to include a decent amount of people)

Just some tips in planning and organizing this would be GREAT! I haven't had a birthday party in years, and what I did back then was little kid stuff, so I need some FUN ideas and help with planning!

Happy Birthday!

I can really only help you with the activity or game part. I don't know if you like trivia, word or party games, but if you do, then I would recommend that you play Outside the Box! It's a brand new team and party game (actually turns a good party into a GREAT party!)...more fun than you can imagine....check it out and see what you think:

Birthday party on Saturday need quick help!?

LiviaLoves

So my late 14th birthday party is on Saturday just for my family and cousins. Not too big as I feel out with my friends so no one to invite. Anyways I need ideas on what foods to serve. Planning on having a BBQ but not sure as for the birthday cake i will be making cupcakes. Which I don't know what kind to make. Need something to not be as sweet as butter cream frosting. Any ideas on what to make for it??

Answer
Well, i'm a mom. just get an idea from this. I think my best tip is to combine your party with one of your childrenâs good friends. One party â two people. Not only does it make the work load easier but it makes everyoneâs party schedule easier too. I lost count of how many graduation party invitations my daughter received last year. Both of my girls had a party with one of their best friends and it was great. Tessa had to make out a schedule some days to make sure she could fit all the parties in and which ones were at which time.
Because there were two different groups of people we wanted to include in our party and they were both rather large groups of people we decided to host two different parties for Tessaâs graduation. One was a party for her high school friends, this was the joint party. The other party we had was for family, neighbors and church friends. It worked out great.
I love a themed party so I let Tessa and Rachel brainstorm theme ideas for their party. With a little help from me they decided on Sail Away since they would soon be sailing away to college. It was so much fun to plan around.
Since I have already blogged about the party I will just be linking to past posts where you can read more.
We started with the invitation and had a fun little photo shoot for the invite.

Fun ideas for a memorable graduation party
I am a big believer in invitations â the paper kind, not the email kind and not the Facebook event kind. I think an invitation really sets the stage for a party so of course we had a cute graduation party invitation.

The next step was the decorations. We of course went with a nautical look for our Sail Away Theme. It was about everything red, white and blue!

Cost was kept to a minimum and things were created out of cardboard, chalkboards, shipping palettes, balloons and things I already had. I did make a fun nautical colored pennant banner for the party.
No party would be complete without food. To keep costs down a bit we did not serve a full meal but no one went hungry. We had a mixture of sweet and savory with a fun selection of cupcakes and then several different appetizers. Go here for the complete menu for our graduation party.

The biggest hit of the evening was the Italian Soda Bar.

We also had a sâmore bar which was fun too.
The kids had a fun time just visiting, playing badminton, roasting marshmallows, making Italian sodas and taking photos at the photo booth.
For our second party, the one for church friends, family and neighbors we went with a Smart Cookie theme. I had seen the idea of a milk & cookie party on a blog and thought it would be a fun idea for a graduation party as well as fairly inexpensive. Since I was doing two parties I really tried to keep the costs down.
Of course there had to be another cute invitation.

We did this party on a Sunday evening and kept the menu simple â cookies and milk! With the help of a few friends we made over 400 cookies and had 100 guests. I think I had ten cookies left at the end of the evening. The favorite cookie of the evening was the Compost Cookie.
Chocolate milk was definitely the biggest hit. I set up a fun cookie bar in the kitchen and people loved it. Fortunately the weather was good and people had fun milling around in the garden visiting.

People loved drinking out of the little milk bottles with a straw!
I used the Starbucks Frappuccino bottles! They are perfect.
I used some of my vintage suitcases and other pieces for decoration so set up was easy. I found some fun graduation quotes to put on my chalkboards.
Both parties were so much fun and I had a blast planning them. Iâm kind of sad there wonât be any more high school graduation parties at my house.
But Iâve got two more college graduations to go and a law school graduation! Oh and then there is that wedding we are having this summerâ¦.
Are you planning a graduation party this year?

Answer
Of course there has to be music,so dont forget the radio. Also the camera to take goofy pictures. You can play some board games but honestly you all will probably spend most of your time talking about who you like and dont like.I think truth or dare was always a cool game.If your folks will let you have a fire then make some smores, everyone loves them.Once its nice and dark you all can take turns telling ghost stories(dont forget the flashlight incase you get scared)Hope you have fun and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

How do i get a swirly loop the loop text?

wonkydonke

Iam making party invitations for my daughters birthday , and the theme is Charlie and lola. iam trying to get the font and style of the writing, I think ive got the font, but i am trying to get the text to do a sort of loop the loop instead of just writing in s straight line .Anyone know of how to do this, or where to find a good swirly line generator ? Thanks so much

Answer
Photoshop and some of the better free graphics editor with the right plug-ins will allow you to set up writing text on a curve. Best to read the tutorials first.
