13th Birthday Party Ideas?

Z

I'm turning 13 this December (the 29th) but i'm planning to have my party January 5th, or a Saturday in January.
I'm not that much of a girly-girl, I definitely don't want pink decorations or invitations, blue, turquoise, purple, absolutely!
Any ideas for food, decorations, games, links to cool planning websites or invitations? Thanks so much!
And this party has my guy friend and my girl friends AND all my family, so it has to be something everybody will like. Spa parties probably won't work.

Answer
I'm 14 and I think that having an ice skating party would be a great idea.(since it'swinter and everyone likes that)

Food:
Pizza(everyones fave lol)
chips
soda
birthday cake(w/your fave design on it, ice cream cake would go w/the theme)
brownies
candy

set-up:
meet at your house and than you guys go in a carpool to the skate rink where you guys could skate for about 2 and a half hours or so, than you could go back to your house, have pizza, than have a dance party(whatever music you like is great, but I would choose holiday up-beat songs like the radio carol of the bells, winter wonderland, and songs such as cotton eye joe. barbie girl(everyone will laugh at that one, but in a good way), and great balls of fire. ciara goodys and one two step are also great and Haly Scarnato tell him, and turn the beat around are great for getting everyone moving. after that you could have the b-day cake and open your gifts.

Decorations:white and ice blue streamers, silver balloons, banner saying happy birthday, pin the tail on the donkey(I know it sounds dorkey but it gets so crazy and fun) a pinyata in the shape of an ice skate, and pictures of skaters all over the walls(hence christina yamaguchi, sarah hughs, michelle kwan.

games:
pin the tail on the donkey
pinyata
dance party
treasure hunt(hide iteams around the house such as lip gloss, mini bottles of body spray from bath and body works, mini pinball hand-held games(for guys)claires earrings, phone keychains, skating pins, pencils, pens, notebooks, juice boxes, hackey sacks, (p.s give the guys a seperate list with things that they would want to find) and whoever wins could get a super prize such as a purse from target like this
http://www.target.com/Xhilaration-Heart-Handbag-Pink/dp/B000OMEZEQ/ref=sc_ri_3/601-8041683-6633733
movie tickets, gift cards to panera, blockbuster, or fave clothing store, paylas, orticket to go ice skating, five dollars,or a webkinz, be bratz dolls(4 fun), for the guys it could be a soccer ball, sports jersey, blockbuster gift cards.

Invitations
http://ecards.myfuncards.com/myfuncards/Occasions/Invitations/11173/mfc_birthday_celebration.jhtml (send 2 all your friends)
or just make a card(that way you can do it any way you want)

other ideas of parties could be:
indoor pool party
movie thearter party
mini golf indoor party
(same after idea you just go to a different place. you may have to adjust the decorations a little to work with the different ideas but they should all work. the blockbuster gift cards would work awesome with the movie thearter idea.

oh yea the pinyata could be in the shape of an ice skate, a golf ball, movie ticket, or pool cap. You could also make it pin the tail on the reindeer sience it's near christmas. inside the pinyata you could put winter candy, and winter oreos for your food would work great.you could also use winter themed candy for your table candy.

hope this helps

Hi! I want to celebrate my 2 year old son's birthday in an economic way. Can somebody suggest me something interesting. Thanks.

Answer
I guess the kids who are coming to the birthday party will be in the age group of 1-6years. You need to decide depending on whether you want to give different gifts for boys and girls and also depending on your budget. I think some innovative options would be - 1. Bookends ( to encourage them to read ) 2. Height Charts - kids of this age love to keep their eyes on their height 3. hand Puppets. 4. Blocks are also a good idea. You can get them in small packs. and most of all I love giving Books, to encourage them to read!

Birthdays have always been regarded as special days by almost all cultures and civilizations since times immemorial. Today, the birthday boys and girls are usually given special privileges on their birthdays, including a ban on scolding, no home-work, presentation of gifts and invitation to their best friends to parties, dance and music.

At the Forte Grand, we have perfected the art of hosting birthday parties for almost all age groups, especially children. Most importantly, we understand what children enjoy and we have a feel for what grown ups enjoy, especially when it comes to birthdays celebrations.

So, along with great food, theme-based ambiance and gracious hospitality, we create the right décor with elaborate balloon decorations, live cartoon characters like Spiderman, Pokemon, Barbie, Mickey Mouse and Tom & Jerry, Magic Shows and Bouncies. We can also bake the best birthday cakes and arrange attractive cake and gift tables. A DJ and a live band can also be arranged to liven up the celebrations if so desired. After all, you are born only once. And, each birthday, therefore, must turn out to be a memorable one. At the Forte Grand, we can do just that.

Birthdays are one of the best times of the year for celebrating with your family and friends. Since, for most of us, it only comes around once a year, make sure you do it right and let Fortegrand manage your special day. With a wide selection of menu items and service options, we'll ensure that this special occasion is a truly memorable one.

was it wrong to write this on my daughters birthday party invitations....?

maylene185

her invites were dora holding 3 balloons.....
in one ballon i wrote size 4t in another i wrote she likes barbie
and in another she likes little petshop.....

then the invitation was filled out with the usual time place ect....

party was yesterday and today my hubby is mad that i told people what to buy and or was making them buy something by writing that.

it was only a suggestion since last year she got boy stuff and clothes way too huge for her!

was this wrong of me to list her size and stuff liked?

at the end of the day she still got clothes way to big although she did get 1 barbie and 1 petshop toy....which made her so so happy....

Answer
Yes it was wrong! You get what you get and you don't throw a fit! So when people showed up w/out the correct "gift" did you deny them cake? When I RSVP to a bday party I'll ask the parent what the child is into and what size they wear.

What would Barbie do?

breisme

I'm in the process of planning a Barbie Princess Party for my daughters "First" Birthday. I've done searches for ideas and some of them are cute, but not unique. I'm making the Barbie cake and the lil Skipper cake for her to dig into. I've purchased a bolt of pink fabric for our entryways "Pink Carpet". I've got the pink and white balloons. Fake pearl garland for the tables. I even purchased a pink pouffy "Princess" dress for myself and her. There will be mostly adults at this party and I really want everyone to dress like Barbie would. My problem now is the food and invitations. I want food that is cohesive to my theme. So, What the heck would Barbie serve? And is there a cute idea for homemade invitations? I was hoping that someone out there has some ideas for "pink" food...and no, I would rather not put food coloring in mashed potatoes and sour cream. Maybe a jello salad or a great finger sandwich recipe. I'm just at an end, trying to figure out a meal plan for 40 plus guests. Any ideas? Thanks so much in advance:)

Answer
===
No offense, but you said this is a "first" birthday? I think this is just a little over the top for a birthday she isn't even going to remember. Plus, do you really think 40+ adults are going to dress up like Barbie? You may want to take down the theme just a notch, IMO.

Hot Pink Lemonade

1 cup water
2 cups white sugar
2 1/4 cups fresh lemon juice
7 cups cool water
2 cups ice
3/4 cup blueberries

Directions:
1. Boil one cup of water with the sugar in a saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring until the liquid becomes clear. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice. Pour 7 cups of cool water and ice into a serving pitcher. Add the lemon syrup and blueberries; stir until you get a 'hot pink' color.

im a girl whos turing 15 in about 3 weeks. i want to try and do something with alot alot of ppl more like 8-10 10-20 something like that. my first idea was to rent a suit. but parents arnt crazy about that idea because we couldnt all sleep there.... my house is to small to do anything really inside, and i have just a deck in my backyard. price range doesnt really matter, just nothing to pricy. or anything along the lines of a limo... and nothing to childish.... I REALLY NEED HELP I CANT THINK OF ANYTHING..PLEASE ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!! =]=]=]=]
more relaxed party, dont care about food. more of stuff wat to do!!!!

Answer
This is an idea coming from an adult. Do you have a favorite restaurant with a party room?
Invite friends there and arrange to have a few food choices for them. Hire a DJ for music or Karaoke would be fun, I think.
Make invitations yourself and hand them out to avoid mail costs. Keep track of HOW MANY are coming by asking for RSVP by putting your telephone number on the invitation. Create a theme for the party, for example hip hop or sports like basketball or Barbie Doll or something very in and now theme. This is a start. Ask everyone to bring a photo of when they were little and play a guessing game of who's who.

What should I buy 5 yr old twins for their birthday?

My daughter was invited to a birthday party in a couple of weeks. It is for twins; boy/girl. The girl I have a couple of ideas for, but I have no idea what to get the boy. I asked them at school and they both smiled and said they didn't know. I asked their mom and she said that she didn't know; they only cared about opening a present. I don't want to to over spend, but want to get decent presents. Any suggestions? DVD? Games? Toys? Thanks!

Answer
Was there any theme on the party invitation? If so, go off of that (i.e. Spiderman toys for the boy/Barbie for the girl if it was a Spidey or Barbie invite.)

Otherwise, craft sets are always good. They have this awesome sidewalk chalk out now that reacts to 3D glasses (included) that is really cool.

Consider getting them completely different things, too. I'm sure that they've had their share of "together" presents or neutral items because they're twins. Separate gifts help them form their own sense of identity and it's truly their "own" - not something they have to share.

As a mom of a 6 years old boy, I have to admit that I enjoy him receiving gifts that are a little more on the educational side - books are awesome, we LOVE doing puzzles together, and board games are great for family fun that we can all enjoy (and games like Sorry involve number recognition and counting - always a plus!)

Just about every store will print out gift receipts, so if you're concerned about the acceptance of the gift, include one in the card. It helps if the kiddos get duplicates and then they can have the joy of "shopping" for themselves!

what would you do for a 10 year old taylor swift party?

Shortcak3

i'm supposed to help my cousin with her taylor swift party sleepover...
any ideas how to entertain and what crafts to do...
we already have karaoke!

Answer
Paste pictures of Taylor Swift from entertainment magazines on a file folder. Cut these out. Print out a simple invitation and paste it to the back. Make one Taylor Swift birthday party invitation for each guest.

Decorate with a musical theme and pictures of Taylor. Put out a guitar if you have one. Spread Taylor Swift guitar picks on the table mixed in with musical note confetti (see resources)
Taylor's favorite color is white so use plenty of white balloons and streamers but add in aqua and pink to make it girly. Put a Taylor Swift Barbie Doll on the table for a centerpiece. (see resources).

Have Taylor Swift's music playing in the background to set the mood for your Taylor Swift Birthday Party.

Play fun party games. Fill a ziplock bag with jelly beans and put it in a cowboy boot. Have guests guess the number of beans. Have a cowboy boot penny toss. Let each guest take turns tossing pennies and see who gets the most in the cowboy boot.

For prizes give your guests one of Taylor Swift's CD's (under $10) or her biography (under $5.00).

Taylor handed out demos of herself singing Karaoke when she was starting out and Karaoke is a great way to have fun at your Taylor Swift Birthday Party. Have the guests sing to Taylors favorite artists Tim McGraw and Miranda Lambert and her inspirations Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks.

Serve up country favorites, chicken wings, mini corn on the cob, chips and veggies. Or if you want to try something different, dish up Taylor's fave Japanese food.

Taylor loves cheesecake so you may want to serve that along with or instead of a traditional cake at your Taylor Swift Birthday Party.

Taylor loves jewelry and wears a purity ring and tons of bracelets. Instead of goodie bags, give your guests funky jewelry. Pick some up at sales or purchase the lovelovelove bracelet or lucky brand live in love bracelet that Taylor wears. You can find these on ebay or her website.

I really hope this has helped

Birthday Gift for 5 year old girl?

firedancer

I am taking my almost three year old son to a birthday party for his friend, a little girl who will be five. She is in preschool, is very energetic, outgoing and friendly.
The invitation says that gifts are not needed; however, I would love to get her something small.
I am thinking maybe a book, if anyone has suggestions on what is good for a five year old little girl I would appreciate it.
Any other ideas are welcomed also!

Answer
I know books and clothes make great presents, and the parents love them, but I can tell you (as the mother of a 7 year old girl) that the kids are usually disappointed.

Most girls like jewellery (glitzy fake stuff), stickers, hair accessories, cute stationery, Littlest Pet shop (they have some cheap small toys and sets which are a big hit), and anything to do with dogs / puppies! I think Barbie is pretty much out now. Craft sets are also popular (eg paint your own mug etc).
