I am trying to design my daughter's birthday invitations and I would like to put a little saying or poem in them, but so far the only ones I have been able to find are really cheesy. Does anyone know any good sayings/poems for turning 4 years old?

Arabian Nights 4th Birthday Party Ideas?

My daughter has decided that she wants a "Jasmin" birthday party and I have 0 ideas for this. I am thinking Arabian Nights kid style...Since she will be turning 4 years old so I need games, decorations, and food ideas for kids. Any ideas are welcome! Also, I am wondering about invitation etiquette, when should I send them out? Thanks!

Invitation etiquette for 4-yr old birthday party?

I'm getting ready to throw a b-day party for my daughter turning 4, and I have issues with who to invite. I have a mom's group with 4 other little girls her age. only 1 does she see outside playgroup, who i would definitely invite. but another one invited my daughter to her birthday (as well as all the other little girls in the mom's group), yet two of the girls did not invite my daughter to their parties. am i obligated to invite the little girl who invited my daughter, but not necessarily the 2 other girls? if my daughter had not been invited to hers, i would likely not be inviting her to ours.
also, i have two seperate neighbors who are sister/brother, so their kids are cousins. my daughter was invited to one girl's party but was not invited to the cousin's parties. i don't feel like i can invite the one family without the other. she doesn't actually play with any of them. what to do???
BTW there is no issue with any of the other moms or any pettiness, i just don't know what to do. the cost isn't a factor and if i ask her she wants everyone she can name.

If cost is not a factor, by all means invite all of the afore mentioned children. Some will come, some may not, this is a child's birthday party, it is her day to enjoy, please don't keep score to the point of stressing about who did not invite who previously.

need help with birthday invitations and ideas for my 4 year olds "messy" party!?

i am planning an outdoor messy party with activities such as painting (with brushes, rollers, sponges, or just their little fingers), will also have markers, glitter, glue, stamps, all kinds of art supplies. other messy things to be set out, colored whip cream, play-dough (with cookie cutters and other "tools"), water, sand, crazy string, maybe a jello pool, cornstarch or flour. going to have a table where they can decorate all ready made sugar cookies with icing and sprinkles and such and an water play area (sprinkler, pool, slip n slide) so they can rinse off and clean up. . also going to be taking before and after pictures any other ideas? kids range in ages from 1 - 8.
i am planning on letting my son help make some invitations any ideas on that? and some wording too!

How do you get kids to come to a Birthday Party?

I invited my daughters entire preschool class to her 4th birthday party. I made out the invitations 3 weeks in advance. I made a beautiful castle cake, spent $60 on awesome gift bags and rented a $150 castle jumper. Only one child showed up. My family was there at least but there was only adults.

Ask RSVP's so you at least know how many are coming. Did you even know any of the parents to ask them? Being on good speaking terms with the parents ahead of time does help. It's also possible they saw this as a gift grab - tone down the party and say no presents required and you'll get more people coming.

Luncheon and cake will be served, dress is casual, tiarras will be supplied to all the princesses!
Gifts are not expected.
I'm not sure I would say that the gifts are optional, I think people would still feel that they are expected.
You could cover by buying your daughter some small, inexpensive presents, and one larger one. She is 4. And when people call to ask about it, you can say whatever you like. For instance, please do not spend a fortune, Janey is 4, she loves books, little dolls, color books, whatever she might like.
