Should I list what my child likes on his birthday party invitations?

Brina

Answer
I actually saw a birthday card insert on ebay one day, that I am sorry I didn't pay more attention to (or order)...basically from what I remember it was like a business card, that gets inserted in with birthday invitation. There is a small pic of the party theme (i.e.: Elmo, princess, whatever-maybe matching the invitation theme) and it listed the following:
clothing size, shoe size, favorite animals or characters, etc. (I suppose you could change it to meet your needs)
I have twins turning two in August...I think this is a wonderful idea! Having to return clothes that don't fit, or toys that we already have is at times such a hassle especially with kids in tow, as we all know. I figure it might end some of the continuous calls as to what they will like or not like or what sizes they wear, etc.
I think partygoers would appreciate knowing what the birthday boy or girl wants. It still gives people the option to buy anything they want, but helps them in knowing sizes, etc. I do not think this will in any way affect how they appreciate a gift in the long run. Using this idea for children from ages 1 to 5 or 6...why not? I can't see using this idea when a child is older (or for an adult). Now that might be construed as tacky.
Personally I think including a little information would be a good idea. I intend on doing it...even if not for friends...at least for the family members! There is just too much to do in planning a party (even for little ones), that I don't have the time to always field these questions.
Go for it! Make it tactful and I think you'll find others trying to do the same in the future.
Good luck! and Have a wonderful happy stressfree birthday party!

Good Birthday party ideas for two 16 year old twins?

PrettyPink

So me and my twin were talking about party ideas for our 16 birthday it wont be anything big really we had a Quinceañera party so this year we are doing just a party with our closest friends. So what are great ideas for a teenage 16 year old twins birthday party? At first we wanted a bowling party but we are not sure the price is kindof high, and I love paris so I wanted a paris theme party but my sister isnt into the whole pink and paris thing. What are some themes we could do and what food or what games and activities? Our birthday is in January (I know we still have a long way to go) So it is cold and snowy here where we live. We are trying not to spend a lot so not so expensive party ideas would be great thanks in advance!

Answer
Having a fancy dress party, or costume party, is always a great way to have fun. When my friends have birthday parties for dressing up, they generally create a theme for it. You could pick movies, books, celebrities, or even video games. My cousin had a great party where everyone dressed up as Nintendo characters, and baked a Mario-mushroom shaped cake.

For invitations, you could have the person RSVP back to you with their costume, so that way no one wears the same outfit!

Serve food themed to your party, and make non-alcoholic beverages with cute names.

My daughter was invited to a birthday party in a couple of weeks. It is for twins; boy/girl. The girl I have a couple of ideas for, but I have no idea what to get the boy. I asked them at school and they both smiled and said they didn't know. I asked their mom and she said that she didn't know; they only cared about opening a present. I don't want to to over spend, but want to get decent presents. Any suggestions? DVD? Games? Toys? Thanks!

Answer
Was there any theme on the party invitation? If so, go off of that (i.e. Spiderman toys for the boy/Barbie for the girl if it was a Spidey or Barbie invite.)

Otherwise, craft sets are always good. They have this awesome sidewalk chalk out now that reacts to 3D glasses (included) that is really cool.

Consider getting them completely different things, too. I'm sure that they've had their share of "together" presents or neutral items because they're twins. Separate gifts help them form their own sense of identity and it's truly their "own" - not something they have to share.

As a mom of a 6 years old boy, I have to admit that I enjoy him receiving gifts that are a little more on the educational side - books are awesome, we LOVE doing puzzles together, and board games are great for family fun that we can all enjoy (and games like Sorry involve number recognition and counting - always a plus!)

Just about every store will print out gift receipts, so if you're concerned about the acceptance of the gift, include one in the card. It helps if the kiddos get duplicates and then they can have the joy of "shopping" for themselves!

Ideas for a surprise 17th birthday party for bofyfriend and twin brother?

kdlady

my boyfriend and his twin brother never really had a birthday party before and its their 17th birthday (not that its a super special birthday but still) i've never thrown a surprise party before what kind of things should i do to prepare and have the party??

Answer
Ok, decide where you want to have it. Make invitations and make sure you mention its a surprise and no one should tell. Make sure to mail out the invitations a month in adavance and ask people to RSVP. Talk to their parents and let them in on the Surprise. Have the parents take them out for dinner and then drop them off at the party. Thats between all of you to figure out. Have everyone at your house an hour before they are going to show up. Dont tell the guests they will be an hour late. Just say everyone has to be there at lets say 3pm. Pretend the twins are coming at 330 but really ask them to come at 4 so there are no late stragglers coming in. You need to buy a cake. Some potato chips and snacks. Whatever other food you would like there. I think it would be nice to have like salsa and chips and guacamole, spinach dip, vegetable plate, whatever your parents will let you get or whoever is helping you with the party. Ask some of their close friends if they want to help. Then, they can also help with the food. Buy birthday streamers and plates, cups, napkins, soda. Pizza if you want. Have them come in and scream happy birthday. You can have one of your friends play music as a DJ and you can plan some fun games. One game can be how well do you know the twins? You can make up questions. Whoever gets the most right wins. You can also just hang out and eat cake. Good luck to you! I think its very sweet that you thought to do something like this!!

How do I do a double birthday party?

My friend and I are planning on conjoining our birthday parties since our birthdays are so close. We already know how to do the party part, but how do we figure out the presents? We can't just ask everybody to bring 2 presents.

I was thinking maybe I could put this at the bottom of the invitations:

"No need to bring presents
But if you insist on giving presents, please do so separately, before or after the party"

Would that work? If you don't think so, please give me your ideas!

Answer
That would work... but i think people automatically would bring 2 smaller presents. Like I go to my friends party each year and they are twins... they put nothing on their invite and people always bring them 2 presents

Suggestions for twin boys first birthday party?

Ivy has Tw

Right now I am having over a few people from a playdate group I am in, and am planning to provide cupcakes, goldfish crackers, and cut grapes.

Any suggestions for a birthday party on a budget? (will be held at our house, there will be 10 kids aged 8-20 months).

Invitations are online only. I said no gift required but used is preferred to new.

Answer
My son is 16 months and is absolutely obsessed with balloons, so I would say those are definitely a must. You can even buy them at dollar stores and blow them up yourself. You can also but decorations, plates, napkins and cupe there too as well as maybe some little games or something to play. Just go online and search for Dollar Tree and I bet there is one in you area.
