Birthday party invitation ideas?

Erika

I stopped doing the whole by scratch thing a few parties and 2 kids ago. Now, I let the kids pick a few things that I make...the rest is store bought or bought handmade from other people.

My daughter picked the invitations & cake for me to make for her 10th. She is having a Little House on the Prairie party. The cake is easy...I am making little covered wagons out of apple spice cake.

I have no real ideas about the invitaitons though....I need ideas! Thanks!

Answer
Get a print out of a covered wagon and have your daughter color them in...write info on the back and send it...

where can i order cheap birthday invitations?

chicky84

I want to throw my son a birthday party and have it like pirate themed, i was looking to get invitations that resemble this http://tp-images-cache.tp-global.net/product/6528/panel/1/color/01/width/420/height/420.jpg
but dont want to spend $150 on cards alone! is there any place or anything online that is reasonably priced for invitations- Thanks!

Answer
We handmade our invitations. It wouldn't be too hard to find pirate themed paper, stickers and cut-outs at your local Michael's. Handmade invites can also make a nice keepsake.

HELP! I need free printable party invitations. The theme is sharks.?

Sarah

Ok i need free printable shark party invitations. Its for my brother's birthday party! i look some up but all i could find was shark tales and that's not what he wants. Links would be appreciated. Thanks ;)

Answer
You would be better off searching for images of sharks, and then copy them into your Office word template for Party Invitations.
Just Google sharks, then click on the Images link.
Then open Word and choose templates and you should have a Party Invitation in which you can paste your own image. Depending on printer you have to choose which looks best.
Use Microsoft Office Help for help with Templates.
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT101527321033.aspx?ofcresset=1
Also, you could use the any type of template...it depends on how you want the invites to look. Folded, one sheet, etc. So many possibilities.

my daughter's birthday is on Wednesday and i need ideas on what to do for her 1st birthday party.

Answer
How to Have a Girls 1st Princess Birthday Party

Step 1Invitations: Invitations should have a princess theme. Be sure to include on the invitation that princess attire is requested.

Step 2Cake: The birthday cake is the center of attraction and should be royally decorated with princesses and a castle or some other princess theme.

Check out this website for gorgeous princess cakes: http://www.cinderellacakes.com/images/PrincessTheme/slides/PrincessTheme-5.htm

Step 3Tableware: Plates, napkins and cups should be princess themed or at least be colors that match the cake's theme. Play tea cups and plates are a very fun addition to any princess party.

Step 4The Birthday Princess: Be sure she has a beautiful princess dress to wear topped with all the royal accessories. She will need a crown, wand, fancy shoes and jewels.

Step 5Balloons: Princess balloons are a wonderful addition to your decorations. Mix a few mylar balloons in with colored latex balloons. Keep your color choices to a minimum of two or three. Pink, lavender and white are typical princess colors but there are other combinations that work well too. Try to match the colors of the cake to keep the theme.

Step 6Goody Bags: Children love goody bags at the end of the party. Be sure to fill them with something princess themed. Try to stay away from candy if possible. Some ideas are: princess toothpaste and toothbrushes; princess coloring books and crayons; princess crowns and magic wands.

Any tips for a "red carpet" themed birthday/farewell party?

*Lovin'&li

Hey, so I'm going to have a red carpet themed birthday party later on this year, and I would also like to make it a farewell party as well because I'm going to boarding school next year. If you have any deco, invitation, planning or any other advice and tips, please feel free to answer. Thanks!! =)
And I'm turning 13 and it will be spring if that helps. =)

Answer
my teen had a red carpet sweet 16 so i can share those ideas.

For invites we ordered from handykane.com http://www.handykaneweddings.com/index.cfm?id=125520&fuseaction=browse&pageid=113 (they have others too)

You could also buy or make VIP passes: http://www.shindigz.com/catalog.cfm?caid=963199&nav=Theme%20Parties%2FHollywood%20Party%2FParty%20Favors%2FHollywood%20VIP%20Pass

http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/browse/processRequest.do?requestURI=processProductsCatalog&categoryId=377320&BP=2110&cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-datafeed-_-datafeed-_-datafeed&sku=24/1088&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=24/1088

For favors were had gold and black mardi gras beads that we handed to guests as they arrived. you could do red ones if you want. we got ours from oriental trading.

We also gave out sunglasses and we bought the movie night mints from oriental trading and put a handful of in cellophane bags and tied with black and red curling ribbon and curled the ends with scissors.

We also bought clapboard keychains and put in the bags with curling ribbon.

Oriental trading has everything you would need for decorating a party like. This. i am not sure how fancy or big you want your party. We bought the black tablecloths from oriental trading but both shimmery gold table overlays from favormart that went over to fancy it up. They were cheap and looked great. oriental has so muchc for this theme; http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/shared/sharedFlowController.goToBrowseController.do?requestURI=viewEndecaCategory&Ne=90000&Ntk=all&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&cm_sp=sitestripe-_-movie-_-movie&N=387040&tabId=PartySupplies

We used gold, black and silver latex balloons and we also bought some mylar balloons from another site shaped llike movie cameras.

We had a movie camera pinata.

We bought the red carpet on oriental trading. Check the size. it sticks down on the sides with mild sticky tape and in some spots across. It does leave marks on a wood floor so have some adhesive remover to easily get it up where it sticks when you lift it up.

other sites that have decorations is partycheap, shindigz.

For food we had taco dip
http://football.about.com/cs/superbowl/p/coldtacodip.htm

silver dollar sandwiches;http://www.homelandstores.com/services/party_trays/images/lg_dollartray.jpg These are hand size and the rolls are sold in your grocery made by the bakery in there or if you cant find silver rolls get the bakery deli rolls. It is just shaved ham, turkey and beef. cut a triangle of cheese to put on there and real butter spread inside and have mayo and mustand on ice available. These are catered but so easy to make.

We also had a fruit tray. Again easy to make and cheaper to make.l cut up chunks of real pineapple, add green and red seedless grapes, cut an orange in slices and then have wedges, slice up strawberries, and anything else you want. Also if you want you could just make fruit kabobs. These went over well.

Have everyone dress up.

Since you are the star you have to outlook everyone. Get a red carpet long gown, go get your hair done in an updo, get gel nails, and go to macy's or like dept store and they do your make up free. my daughter got the fake eyelashes put on there for 15.00 so she would look like audrey hepburn.

Also get some large cardboard from a place that sells appliances. Buy some posters of marilryn monroe, audrey hepburn, or if you want current movie stars. spray paint the cardboard black, let dry and then glue the poster in the center. Buy the cardboard twinkling stars from oriental trading in colors of red, gold, or black or mix depending on your theme but i used the gold and get some different sizes and glue them on the corners of the posters, i put 2 big ones on opposites corners nd scattered a couple small ones. you can fold it ever so lightly in the middle and it stands up. up.

for big hollywood sets check out stumps prom. We did not get huge prom set but we got this and it was big after you put it together and everyone loved it; http://www.birthdayzbyshindigz.com/catalog.cfm?caid=678628&nav=Special%20Events%2FQuincea%C3%B1era%2FShop%20by%20Theme%21%2FHollywood%2FTheme%20Kits%2FHooray%20for%20Hollywood%20Studio

we also bought life cardboard cut outs of movie stars. you could get marilyn monroe or for your age maybe more recent movie stars. This goes over good for picture taking.

Also we bought instant cameras from Aldi's where we found them cheapest and put them all over for guests to take pictures.

How can I get a drawing turned into a graphic or logo?

tiffanytmi

I made a simple drawing for my sister's birthday party that I will have printed on several items (the invitation, balloons, party favors, etc). How can I have this picture made into a graphic image that I can then copy, scan, and/or fax. I would need it in basic black.

Thanks!

Answer
Vector image programs (Illustrator, InDesign, stuff like that) is your best bet. Scan it in, convert it to a vector graphic, and then you can resize it however you need to. The quality will stay the same, so it can be as large/small as you want, just make sure your lines aren't too thick/thin or they'll smush together and it'll be hard to tell what it is.

Can someone help me with my birthday invitation?

heyho

I am hosting a surprise 30th birthday party for my wife next week. Does anyone have any creative text or thoughts I should put on the invitation?

Answer
Here I hope this helps. I used the template/words to create a 70th Birthday party invitation for my Mother. I used the Hallmark printable invitations- boy do they look good. Looks like a PROFESSIONAL did it.

Good luck!

Any suggestions for a Brown Bear book themed first birthday party?

My son is turning 1 in August and I am planning a party themed around Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? (a favorite of his). Does anyone have any suggestions how I can incorporate any elements of this book into his party? Invitations, cake, decorations, favors, etc. We're planning on low-key, but would like to put on a cute party for him. Thanks!

Answer
i would make color copies of each of the book's animals -- the red bird, blue horse, white dog, etc. then take them to kinkos and have them enlarged AND shrunk into bigger and smaller color copies. you can then make your own decorations with them since i don't believe (though i may be wrong) you can purchase decorations with those images. a good bakery will make a cake with any one of those animals on it if you provide the image. laminate some of the copies, cut around them, and glue them onto chopsticks or any other stick, then use that foam stuff (for fake flowers, etc...can get it at a craft store). stick the mounted characters into the foam and cover the foam with any decorative material to make table decorations/centerpieces. you can scan the images to make invitations. i am sure there are a bunch of other things you can think of once you have different sized animals printed up. great idea using the book -- ruby loves that one, too.edit: HA! judging from the answer above me, there is a much easier way :)

What file should I use to send an invitation?

Io

Lately I have been receiving invitations to birthday parties, meetings; baby showers, snack bar and ceremonies, but all lack a professional quality. Most of the invitations are made in Microsoft word then sent over without so much as converting the file into something appropriate. And what I receive is a mediocre invitation to an office lunch with the bosses.

Baby showers don't hide from the embarrassment with their cut and paste into publisher and sending the file over, and again, without converting it into something descent. And last my favorite, a wedding invitation as beautiful as can be sent over online like a cheap Christmas card. But at least the bride and groom had the decency to make it into a .pdf file how nice :).

However the deed is still done and I cannot find a suitable file that looks professional enough to send invitations over the internet without looking like a fool. Does anyone know a file that can make an invitation look great? Hopefully a file that (when clicked) the invitation pops up without any menus or the address you took it from nor will it need Microsoft media gallery to view it nor anything else at that matter. Just a simple 1280X720 image in your screen that pops up and a transparent X to close it when you are done reading it. No borders, no IP addresses, no WWW's, no nothing just a simple invitation in the middle of your screen when clicked. Does anyone know of any programs that do that? if the answer is no, than may I suggest that whatever computer wizard is looking at this message right now should get started on making such a program cause I know I would (or any company at that matter) pay to have their invitations sent over online looking professional and refine.
No jpegs please. jpegs are still used by MS photo previwer. I know some of you are going to say "just use jpeg" the point is to have it look professional.

Answer
there are these new contraptions...gadgets if you will, their called...LETTERS..their square shaped...some are pretty!!! some are scary. They come in all shapes and sizes! (I know, mind boggling.) So this is what you do, you use those things attached to your body, those are called legs, you take those and walk (exercise I know, who would ever do that?) to a store buy one or two, or as many as you want!!! and then you walk (yes, more exercise, I know its a task) to the nearest mailbox or carrier pigeon. I truly hope this helps...

Remember: take all proper precautions before this "exercise" that i speak of, stretch, drink water, turn off your computer etc etc.
