Hey!
I am planning to throw a surprise birthday party for my sister (who'll be turning 24) this weekend.
Need help on the theme of the party. (To spice up dinner out with friends and make it more exciting!) Any ideas for the invite message? Would love to hear any tossing of ideas!
Thanks!

Answer
So we canât all be party planners, or so you think ⦠but itâs much easier than you think! Mammie has put together a few successful surprise parties, and itâs super easy! Surprise parties are a great way to make your loved ones feel special. Surprise parties arenât always an expensive ordeal either⦠Hereâs your quick guide on âHOW TO THROW A SUCCESSFUL SURPRISE PARTYâ

1. Find yourself an accomplice. The middle person who is going to find out information, and help plan the event.

2. Plan a date- Make sure the special boy/ girl is available on the date. Easiest way to find out - ask your accomplice to see if the special person is free on a specific day⦠Have the accomplice make plans with the special person . For example: When Mammie threw her best friend a surprise birthday party, Mammie had Mammy (accomplice) make plans with her best friend on the day of the party. That way - best friend would never expect anything other than her âplansâ with Mammy (accomplice). You donât want to plan the event too far in advance because the special person may find it suspicious. Ideally try to plan it 2-3 weeks in advance.

3. Pick a venue- Once your accomplice has secured a date- figure out a venue. Easiest way is to have your accomplice plan something where he/she can either take the special person to. For example: Mammy made plans with best friend to hang out during the day and then head home to get ready for dinner. Surprise! happened when they came home. Another example: Have accomplice make dinner plans with special person- and have everyone at that location at least 45 min before. (Saying 45 min will translate to people getting there just on time)

4. Send out the invitations- Best way to send an invitation is via phone. Phone calls will not leak to the special person. However, sometimes we donât always have their phone numbers. If you donât have everyoneâs phone number- get their email. Best electronic way of sending out invitations are through evites. Go to www.evite.com and you can create your own evite. If you arenât close friends with special personâs friends- find a trust worthy person to be a middle person. For example: When Mammie threw a surprise party for her brother, she had his roommate forward all the evites. This way, you donât have to worry about forgetting someone. ***MAKE SURE YOU EMPHASIZE THE *SURPRISE* ASPECT***

5. Follow up- Follow up with the accomplice. Follow up with your guests. A week before your event- send out a follow up email. A few days before your event- get a final count. Make sure the plans are still in effect with accomplice and special person. Confirm reservations or accommodations for event night.

6. Day of event: Set everything up with extra time. When you are planning something like this - you want to make sure you give yourself an extra 45 min-1.5 hours- just in case. If you having the event at your residence, or at a residence, make sure you are completely ready before the guests arrive. If you are having the party at a restaurant - try to arrive early enough for decorations. Most restaurants will allow large parties to sit when 1/2 the party is present so make sure you get some people there on time.

7. Right before the accomplice and special person arrive: make sure everyone is in their place. Last thing you want is a straggler to be wandering, or making excessive noise that will ruin the surprise. Have the accomplice text, or call you right before they arrive. That way you can make sure you have people in place.

8. SURPRISE!!!!! Try to have someone there to capture the moment.

*Keep in mind* A surprise party is an event to remember. Make sure you have a camera to capture all the moments. Try to decorate the venue so that your special person will have no doubt in their mind that this was a planned event. Get a blank scrapbook, color pens, and have your guests write a little message while they wait for the big surprise.

The above 8 steps should be able to aid you in planning a surprise party. The key is to have enough time to plan, set up and execute your party. A surprise party is such a heart warming experience. Go the extra mile and get people together and share a special night with those you love. Good luck!

Do anybody Know how can i make a birthday Invitations on my Computer?

Ok I am having a birthday Party and i want to make invitations so how can i do it on my computer where my pic can be on there to can you guys Please help me i need this by June 19

Answer
A quick, easy, and fun way to create your birthday invitations is to go to CropMom.com at http://www.cropmom.com. Cropmom is a online digital scrapbooking, collage, card making site.

Upload your photos. Make your invitation using them. You can add your own text. There are thousands of graphics to choose from to create your invitation. The site has templates and kits organized by theme or you can mix and match or be as creative as you want.

Then save it. Go to My CropMom and click on the layout. Then click the "share" link. It'll let you enter the email address of the recipient, and your screen-quality invitation will be sent via email for free.

For print-quality, you can purchase a JPEG file of your creation (it doesn't cost much) and download it to your computer.

From here, you can either print your invitations at home. Or -have them printed by Shutterfly or Snapfish or Costco, etc.

I want to throw an awesome party like they do on Gossip Girl. I don't want a Gossip Girl themed party, just one that is as awesome as the ones on the show. Any suggestions? x

Answer
Wow I've been looking and asking about how to throw a Gossip Girl THEMED party for a month and got no good responses. Good thing my 20th isn't until October!
I'm imagining your party will be sooner, so I'll fill you in on some ideas I got. First, the decor is everything. Make things look beautiful and elegant. Have flowers, maybe candles. Think about which of thier parties you'd like to modle yours after. I'm going to suggest not Jenny's Sweet 16. That turned out to be a bit immature and wild. You could have a party like Blair's Sleepover, The Masquarade, The fancy Debutant Ball, The Bruch, a more 'simple' party like The Kiss on the Lips or Blair's birthday, the party in the Hamptons, maybe even like that club Chuck owns! There's A LOT of choices availble. After you pick what you want watch the episode to get a better idea of apropriate decor. Have all the guest dress up and make real invitations on nice paper with nice font. No inviting people via facebook! At the party you can have whatever kind of music you like but I suggest adding some songs that were on the show in there too. Cocktails or mocktails are an absolute must! Make Manhattens, martinis, whatever you want that's classy. Serve mostly finger foods, and lots of them! Present them on nice dishes too, and make sure the food table is well decorated. Of course if you're having a brunch you can have real breakfast food, but for pretty much any other kind of party I'd say no. And don't forget the sweets!
That's pretty much all I've got for you for now. Good luck and email me from yahoo! answers if you have any other ideas that could help me!

Is it OK to invite people to your own birthday celebration, or should someone else do this for you?

Sophra

I was thinking about sending out invitations via Facebook and email to invite friends to come out and celebrate my 30th birthday with me in a couple of weeks. Nothing formal, just dinner and cocktails out downtown somewhere. I'm really weird about inviting people to my own party but I also tend to overthink these things. Should I have a friend handle sending out the invites or is it okay for me to do it myself?
And how would you word such an invitation? Thanks so much!

Answer
It's perfectly OK to host a party for yourself. Just keep in mind that as the host, all expenses are yours, birthday or no. If you're expecting other people to pay for their own dinner, then they should be organizing the event.

i am only 13 years old and need help! my mom turns 40 in less than a month and i need ideas for a party! my dad doesn't want it expensive and its an at home party. please answer asap!

Answer
That's so sweet that you want to plan a suprise party for your mom! Me & my younger sister planned one for my mom when she turned 40, too, but we didn't plan it at our house. To send out invitations, me & my sister created an email address (cathysuprise40@hotmail.com) and sent out an invitation via email to all my mom's friends (we got the email addresses from her laptop when she was at work). We asked them if they could all contribute some to the party and ask if everyone could bring at least one type of snack or desset. My dad provided sandwiches as well as the cake. We decdided to hold the party at a park. We have this cute park by our house called Dream Park and there is a covered picnic area. We asked out guests to arrive an hour early and help set up and decorate with the stuff we had bought and given to my mom's best friend to use. Then we told my mom we were going on a family picnic and SUPRISE! She had a great time....!
