I am helping my boyfriend plan the bachelor party for his best friend. We are from the Boston, MA area. They dont want to do the traditional strip club. Any unique ideas ?

Answer
My groom went white water rafting with his friends. It was awesome. They drove several hours Fri, camped out--bonfire, cooked dinner, lots of beer--and the next morning went out on the river for the full day. Spent the night that night again with lots of beer and drove home Sunday.

It was so much fun--several of his friends had never been white water rafting before. You are about 12 hours from the New and Gauley rivers in WV so you may want to fly to DC, Pittsburgh, or Columbus OH. All those would be more managable 4-5 hour drives.

Not wanting to do the traditional strip club does leave lots of options. Boston has lots of great night life that isn't stripping. He could just go to a bar/pub style and hang out with the boys. You could take a trip somewhere.

When is the bachelor party supposed to be? What kind of friends are these? There are lots of great outdoor things. I had a friend take his boat out on the lake. There was some wakeboarding and a lot of intertubes tied to the boat and beer drinking. In the winter, there is great skiing in Vermont. You aren't that far from a bit of beach--of course you could always get a good flight to a real beach by going south. Boston airport is great and since you aren't picky, he could pick the beach based on flight price. If they aren't the outdoor type, there are lots of things to do. Backyard BBQ is a great idea b/c it can be done at a single persons house and all the guys can crash there when drunk.

My friend (sad geek that he is) had a video game bachelor party. He had everyone bring over the controllers and systems. If you don't own one, rent a large tv for the weekend. He had like a tournament of some certain game. Two on two, winner advances, best out of 3 rounds. Grand Champion crowned.

A friend for her bachelorette party hired a chef to come and teach them all some cooking techniques. I think they did something complex like French b/c they are rather good cooks. Then everyone eats a great dinner and has wine for dinner.

My little cousin is very anti-alcohol. She has been friends with her best friends since they were 5. She debated having everyone over for a slumber party and they watched movies from the 80s. Lots of popcorn and soda. She also debated over going to a spa. Though I can't see many guys up for that but a night of old movies, popcorn, and pizza might go over well.

What is the budget of the guys involved? You can always fly to Vegas for a long weekend. Your boyfriend just really needs to figure out what the budget is for the groomsmen and go from there. My girls were all flat broke so my MOH spent a long time finding places that were BOGO free on appetizers for dinner, we pregamed with some alcohol, then went to bars with no cover. We had a friend DD.

Bachelorette party planning help?

I am trying to plan my sisters bachelorette party and I need help! I wanted to do some kind of pole dancing lesson but I am having trouble finding locations near San Jose or Santa Cruz. The bridesmaids invited are short on cash so I have to plan something inexpensive. Any ideas would help :)

what about hiring a belly dancer to come to the house to give lessons if you' can't find a pole dancing place- maybe call around to local strip joints to see if any of the girls would come over to teach how to strip without the pole?
if hosting a party on the cheap- how about a party at home with lots to drink and snacks. you could play all different types of games- check out the porn stores for more naughty ones. you could have it like a spa night too where you do facials and nails- have everyone bring over any spa type stuff they have at home like foot baths and paraffin wax baths- stuff like that.
otherwise find someone to host the party that has few bars within walking distance to save on travel expense. have snacks and a few drinks at the house then bar hop a bit.
how about a camping night?! always fun to camp out with a bunch of girls for a night of drinking!
skip the strip clubs or any bars with a cover charge to save money.

I make these glasses for a nice party favor for the guests at parties- buy martini glasses from the dollar store (one per person) and go get paint pens form the craft store in the wedding colors and paint on each glass their names and date of the wedding- you can even put each guests anme on the base of the glass as a personalized glass (helps them to remember whos is whos too!) you can tie a pretty ribbon on them too if you'd like. then make a big batch of a specialty martini in a big pitcher to keep them flowing all night!
