I'm hosting a Harry Potter birthday party soon but I need help coming up with ideas. I'm turning 12 and I'm very mature for my age so nothing too child-ish. I live in Australia so I can't go to American stores or anything. Please help.

My friend's 14th birthday is coming up and she's having a harry potter themed too! I'm also in Australia :) Her mum's making us felt cloaks and knitting us scarves in the house colours of our choice. The invitations were sent through mail in the same layout as the Hogwarts Acceptance letter! She's also got us making our own wands, and has heaps of lollies made to replicate those from Hogsmeade! Search for some Harry Potter recipes and you'll find ones for butterbeer and more. She's also made Chocolate Frog cards using Freddo Frogs and wrapping them with a printed off picture of the famous witch or wizard and all their information on the back. I know she's also making Fizzing Whizzbees by using lollipops and dipping them in sherbert.
You could also try having a potions class by getting those cheap plastic couldrens from the reject store, buying some flasks or glass containers and then looking up ingredients that have big reactions or explosions! Then put all the ingredients on an ingredient list to make a particular potion, but replace them with magical names. For example, instead of "sugar" write, "unicorn dust."
Unfortunately I don't know any more of her plans, as the party isn't for a couple of weeks; this is only the stuff she's told me.

Some advice on my birthday party/outing ?

For my birthday this year I was thinking of chucking a party or something. Would it be better to have it in a hall or something or at a house ? Would I have more control of it in a house or hall. Would i be allowed alcohol if 16's 17's came, in a hall ? And my ex wants to take me somewhere. I live in australia. In queensland. Does anyone know a good place we could go to and just hang out ??

Alcohol would not be allowed if there are people under 18.
Have it at your house, in the backyard, and LOCK ALL THE WAYS INTO YOUR HOUSE. No-one can go in there for any reason, or you'll end up with things broken/missing/stolen, people mating on your parents bed, throwing up in the sink etc You must hire a portaloo though to do this.
Also, make it strict invite only. By that, you have to hand out invitations and write on there "by invite only, uninvited guests will be removed". Follow through with this. Kick out anyone you don't know.
Also, I don't advise you go anywhere with your boyfriend after drinking. If you must, make someone else drive you, and pick you up, and only go to public places, like an all night cafe.
