I'm having a combined birthday party/dinner with a friend and we are inviting about 6 people. What is a polit/nice/friendly way to tell them that they will be paying for their own dinner?

There IS NO polite way to be rude.
The FIRST "Rule" of Invitations is that those who DO the inviting are the ones who PAY for whatever costs their GUESTS incur. IF you CANNOT cover the dinners of the 6 people, then the party must be canceled.
If you received an invitation to a wedding, how would you feel if the bridal couple included the phrase, "Please pay $26.95 at the door to cover the costs of the meal, venue, and entertainment"?
Sorry, but that is simply the way things go. If you try to do otherwise you run the risk of insulting your "friends" and losing them as "friends."

how can i set up a murder mystery game?

my 13th birthday is coming up, and i need some party games. I was hoping to find some murder mystery games, but I'm open to all games. there will be both boys and girls at my party, around the ages of 12-14 but there will be a few adults who might want to play. any suggestions?
