My new favorite thing to do for gifts is making your own themed gift basket. I like the idea of graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate, maybe some bug spray, a cute lantern, a first aid kit or survival guide something practical. Then throw in some fun items like a bottle of vodka, cute shot glasses maybe a solar powered radio so you guys can have a little party in the wilderness! It would be cute to put it all in a picnic basket..that way the couple can go on a romantic picnic when the wedding's over!

Gift ideas for boyfriend going away to basic?

Well, he's leaving in November but his birthday is next week. I want to make a cute "boot camp survival kit" with stamps, blank paper, a picture of us, and a personalized dog tag, I just need a little something more. I also need to find something to say "I promise to be here for you and stay true to you till you get back." I already bought him an air force ring, so that idea is out. He doesn't like parties so the going away party is also out.

Whatever you do, do not send sexy photos of yourself. Drill instructors and Drill Sergeants have to look through any photos that are sent to soldiers to screen for porn and stuff. So unless you want a stranger looking at your goods, don't do that.
I recently went on a three week training exercise, and one of my battle buddies was telling me about something her new boyfriend had done for her before we left. He bought a journal, and for each day that she was going to be gone, he wrote an entry to let her know how much he cared about her etc. Keep in mind that this was all written ahead of time. Just before we left he gave her the journal, so that each day she was gone she had a little letter from him in the journal. It was really sweet. The only hard part was trying to keep herself from reading every single entry in one day. You might try something like that.
