I need help wording an invitation to a non-birthday party for a 6 year old.?

Sam

My daughter is invited to birthday parties throughout the school year. Her birthday, however, is in July and she will be spending several weeks with family in Florida during the summer. She always feels left out that she can't have a party and invite her friends. I have decided to throw a party for her in May and invite her classmates. Technically, this is not a birthday party. I don't want others to feel obligated to bring presents. The objective here is simply to give her a party. We're debating the theme. It will either be a luau or a fiesta. The jury is still out on that one. I'd love some ideas on how to word the invitations. Thanks!
I like that defrysinger! An Un-Birthday Party. That would be original!

Answer
Your daughter is still a little girl. I believe that if she's invited to all these birthday party's and takes a gift to the birthday kid, then I think she should also get gifts. That the best part of a Birthday! She can open them on her real birthday! But that's up to you...
I think that a FIESTA theme would be fun. Its in the month of may where " cinco de mayo" is celebrated.
FIESTA
Its a Fiesta en Grande ( its going to be a Grand festive day)
Senorita Michelle
is turning six
and your invited to come celebrate

sombreros, pinatas
the whole enchilada!

Invitation advice for a 5 year old's roller skating party?

We are heving our 5 year old's 6th birthday party at a skating rink and we want to put something in the invitations about the parent staying due to the risk of injury. We don't want it to sound all legal and cold, but we want the parents to stay. Help me with the wording please.

Answer
A birthday party at the rink is a great way to let your child, friends and relatives celebrate the occasion with games, food and healthy fun. An afternoon at the rink is no more dangerous than a visit to the playground. The risks are similar in any situation where kids get a little bit of freedom and have anything to ride, throw, climb or in this case...skate on. Parents should be there to help enforce safety just as they would in a park or playground.

To keep your tone light but firm, try something like "Parental supervision required... parents on skates optional."

Or "We will need a hand (and maybe your arms, too) to help the little skaters."

If any parents question this policy, remind them that the kids will need help getting skates and equipment on and off â and there will be a lot of Kodak moments for those who are skating for the first time.

I teach kids aged 3 and up to skate. When in doubt tell kids to keep the big parts (head and chest) over the little parts (skates or inlines) and march instead of sliding or dragging the wheels. Most are mobile after about 20 minutes of supervision, if the parents are encouraging and don't scare the kids.

Feel free to email questions.
