birthday party invitations print your own image
Jacob n ka
So i just made my own wedding invitations and I loved doing it. I bought the invitations at Walmart. I used my computer to write all the information on it and they came out perfect. I would really like to do this for others and not just wedding invitations. I would do birthday parties, weddings, baby shower, etc. Can anyone tell me how I go about doing this? Do you have to have a degree for this sort of thing???
HELPPPPPP?
Answer
You don't have to have a degree, but a knowledge of design and printing would be helpful. I've designed wedding invitations in the past and I use Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, which are professional design programs. The programs cost a lot of money so unless you're serious about design and have the money and time to learn how to use them, I wouldn't recommend it.
Actually, I'm a little confused on what your business consists of. Are you offering actual invitation designs or printing services? In the description you wrote, it sounds like you bought pre-designed invites from Walmart and then just set up the copy yourself. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not sure how lucrative that is since most people can do what you did themselves. Unless you're offering something unique, you may have some problems finding clients.
The best way to see whether or not your business idea will work, is to try it out. Try to get one client first and test the waters. Also, keep track of costs and how you plan on charging people. Would they go out and buy the paper or would you? Would you charge them strictly for the cost of supplies or up charge them for your travel time to pick up supplies? How much would you charge for printing? For design? I recommend outlining your services, your expenses, and figuring out what would be a fair price to charge people. It's a lot of logistics to figure out, but the better prepared you are the easier it will be to deal with situations that may arise.
You may want to design some fake invitations as well so that you have samples to show people what you're capable of.
Good luck!
