Pinata Themed Party for 4 year old?

Sherrylynn

My soon to be 4 year old has asked for a "pinata" birthday party. I am looking for ideas for everything from cake and food to decor and games. I do not just want to do a mexican fiesta theme, I was thinking more like colorful and breakable stuff. Like pop rocks in the treat bags and colorful water balloons to toss. Thanks!

Answer
The Women's Weekly have a fantastic pinata cake. Here is the recipe:
http://aww.ninemsn.com.au/food/cookingtips/784280/party-pi-241-ata-cake
And what it looks like when its smashed.
http://favetreats.blogspot.com/2008/08/pinata-cake-i-made-this-cake-for-good.html

These invitations are cute and would be easy to make yourself:
http://blowoutparty.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=316&zenid=d3cc644d2d1fa111ce8b2e01f8ab6a4d

These are gorgeous too:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/72272091/fiesta-pinata-birthday-party-invitation

Party poppers could be fun and you a could do a game that involves balloon popping:
http://www.partygameideas.com/grown-up-games/balloon_popping_1.php
although hiding small prizes or messages inside the balloons would make it more interesting.

Sounds like a fun party!

Having invitations printed through Walmart or Target?

Rachel

I'm ordering Invitations for a party through Etsy. I'll receive a PDF form of the invitation, but I have to arrange to have the invites printed myself. I've seen some listings on Etsy mention getting the pdf invitations printed through photo centers at stores like Walmart or Target, but I have NO idea how this works!! Any explanations would be extremely helpful. Thankyou! xx :)

Answer
If you have a flashcard reader on your computer (or printer, even). You would plug in the flash card into the reader, on the computer the cards shows up like a hard drive icon that you can double-click. The resulting open window you would drag your invite.pdf file into there.

Otherwise, Esty is just another eBay. Walmart and Target only offer photo-cards or greeting card templates, i.e. Christmas cards, Happy Birthday, etc. You can save yourself some money by calling Kinkos (now FedEx Center) or even local print shops to see if they accept .PDF files either by flashcards or by internet.

What should I buy 5 yr old twins for their birthday?

Mikki Sue7

My daughter was invited to a birthday party in a couple of weeks. It is for twins; boy/girl. The girl I have a couple of ideas for, but I have no idea what to get the boy. I asked them at school and they both smiled and said they didn't know. I asked their mom and she said that she didn't know; they only cared about opening a present. I don't want to to over spend, but want to get decent presents. Any suggestions? DVD? Games? Toys? Thanks!

Answer
Was there any theme on the party invitation? If so, go off of that (i.e. Spiderman toys for the boy/Barbie for the girl if it was a Spidey or Barbie invite.)

Otherwise, craft sets are always good. They have this awesome sidewalk chalk out now that reacts to 3D glasses (included) that is really cool.

Consider getting them completely different things, too. I'm sure that they've had their share of "together" presents or neutral items because they're twins. Separate gifts help them form their own sense of identity and it's truly their "own" - not something they have to share.

As a mom of a 6 years old boy, I have to admit that I enjoy him receiving gifts that are a little more on the educational side - books are awesome, we LOVE doing puzzles together, and board games are great for family fun that we can all enjoy (and games like Sorry involve number recognition and counting - always a plus!)

Just about every store will print out gift receipts, so if you're concerned about the acceptance of the gift, include one in the card. It helps if the kiddos get duplicates and then they can have the joy of "shopping" for themselves!

How Do I politely say Adults only on a birthday invitation?

ariasthree

I am hosting a surprise party for my husband, and I would really like it to be adults only, the problem is we have a family FULL of children. How do I politely word this on the invite? I don't want to put "adults only" Any other ideas???

Answer
Can the people you're inviting easily attend without their children? If so, I see no problem with putting straight-forwardly on the invites that it's grown-ups only.

If the people (or some of the people) you're inviting cannot easily attend without their children, then maybe a friend or relative would host a kids' party at the same time. You could coordinate the invites so that people realize that their needs are being taken into consideration as well.

What are good ideas for my party?

AlexisS

My 16th birthday is coming up so I wanted to have a really different theme for a party. I didn't want anything fancy or classy like most girls do at my age, so I settled on a Superhero Sweet Sixteen party. I thought it would be different and fun to dress up with my family and friends. Do you have any ideas for decorations, invitations, lights etc..? I'm having it at a club, if that helps. :) Thank You!

Answer
Hi

I'm a professional party planner. I have a page of Superhero party ideas on my site at:

http://www.party-ideas-by-a-pro.com

Go to Party Themes A-Z then select Superhero.

A lot of the ideas are aimed at kid's but there are some for adults too, and I'm sure you could adapt some of the ideas to suit your age group. Ideas include:

Invitations made out of Superhero eye masks

Invitation wording

Superhero themed drinks recipes:
Red, White & Blue Captain America drinks
Green Hulk Juice
Black 'Dark Knight' punch
Purple Joker Juice

Superhero themed food:

Batman logo shaped black bread sandwiches
Superman logo toasted sandwiches
Green Jell-O Kryptonite
Hulk Gamma Ray Pea Soup Shots
Captain America Red, White, and Blue Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
Captain America Red, White, and Blue Ice Pops

Decoration and Styling Tips inc:

Line trays with comic book covers
Make food cones out of comic book covers
Make a home-made Bat-signal

There are also ideas for Superhero party games but most of these are aimed at kids, although you might be able to adapt the Superhero training obstacle course and substitute with more age-appropriate challenges / dares / forfeits etc.

Hope that helps

Matt

What should I do for my daughters 11th birthday sleepover?

Abby F

The themes she likes are:
Camp (Like summer Camp)
Beach
Survivor
Sleepover Olympics
Dance Party
Twilight
Hippie
Mystery
Celebirites
Nightmare mansion

Please choose. Whatever one you choose can you please give me ideas for games, decorations and Crafts. Thank you!

Answer
I like the beach theme. Games your could play might be some sort of volley ball, the limbo, Frisbee, have hot dogs and hamburgers for food. drinks with little umbrellas in them, virgin daiquiris.

I also like the mystery theme. You can do like a "Clue" board game theme and act out the game in real life. You can do an era, like a 50's mystery party so everyone can dress up and you can have sparkling white grape juice for champagne with dinner.

Not that your 11 year old is like a play boy model, but there was a Girls Next Door episode where Bridgette had a murder mystery birthday party and it turned out really cool.

How does the event invitation tool on FaceBook actually work?

I've been invited to a few "events" on FaceBook before...and as I'm in the process of organizing my 18th birthday party, I'm wondering how the event tool (or whatever its called) actually works. Can you SELECT those off your friends list to invite? Or does it automatically invite EVERONE on your friends list?

Answer
When you set up an event you can select people to invite. You can also set the event to private so it can not be searched. I use it frequently when organizing events at clubs. It works great.

Can you make a facebook event and invite people you are not friends with?

wewouldntb

I am having a join birthday party with my friend and we want to put the party on facebook as an event, but some people invited are facebook friends with only one of us.

I was going to make the group under my name, however some people on the guest list are not mutual friends and you cannot invite strangers to the event.

Is there another way?

Would creating an invitation only group work better?

Thanks :)

Answer
Just make an invitiation only group. Your right , you can't invite strangers, only your friends.

where can I find good websites to print off birthday invitations?

Answer
I know of a great site where Iâve printed invitations for several of our birthday parties. Iâve always gotten compliments on them too. The site is http://www.4ninvite.com.

They have free downloadable invitation templates that are simple to use. You can either use their designs or import your own graphics and wording.

These are not the same old boring birthday party invitations like you can get at just about any store and the best part (in my opinion anyway) is that they are completely free to download and use. No strings attached! Meaning you arenât required to buy anything in order to download and print these invitations, unlike at many sites offering âfreeâ printable invitations. The also have a MUCH wider variety of ideas, themes and wording samples then at other sites that offer free invitations.

I also want to be sure to mention that these templates are very easy to use. I am not very good with computers, but even I had not trouble creating unique invitations from this site.

In addition to birthday party invitations they have invitation templates for just about any other party occasion you can think of.

For my 18th birthday party I'd like to have enough things for people to do but need some ideas?

Sophie

I have organised my 18th birthday party -- it's in winter so mainly based inside, with a fire, etc.
It's at my house and starts at 7.30 lasting until like 12/1.
I have also organised a photobooth and caterer and I'm planning to do a camp fire - weather permitting. I have a pool table and a table football table that can be used on the night but I was also considering games like apple bobbing, although can't think of any other ideas that can be done for a large group (70+) and are easy to create/organise.

Thanks :)

Hey!
I am planning to throw a surprise birthday party for my sister (who'll be turning 24) this weekend.
Need help on the theme of the party. (To spice up dinner out with friends and make it more exciting!) Any ideas for the invite message? Would love to hear any tossing of ideas!
Thanks!

Answer
So we canât all be party planners, or so you think ⦠but itâs much easier than you think! Mammie has put together a few successful surprise parties, and itâs super easy! Surprise parties are a great way to make your loved ones feel special. Surprise parties arenât always an expensive ordeal either⦠Hereâs your quick guide on âHOW TO THROW A SUCCESSFUL SURPRISE PARTYâ

1. Find yourself an accomplice. The middle person who is going to find out information, and help plan the event.

2. Plan a date- Make sure the special boy/ girl is available on the date. Easiest way to find out - ask your accomplice to see if the special person is free on a specific day⦠Have the accomplice make plans with the special person . For example: When Mammie threw her best friend a surprise birthday party, Mammie had Mammy (accomplice) make plans with her best friend on the day of the party. That way - best friend would never expect anything other than her âplansâ with Mammy (accomplice). You donât want to plan the event too far in advance because the special person may find it suspicious. Ideally try to plan it 2-3 weeks in advance.

3. Pick a venue- Once your accomplice has secured a date- figure out a venue. Easiest way is to have your accomplice plan something where he/she can either take the special person to. For example: Mammy made plans with best friend to hang out during the day and then head home to get ready for dinner. Surprise! happened when they came home. Another example: Have accomplice make dinner plans with special person- and have everyone at that location at least 45 min before. (Saying 45 min will translate to people getting there just on time)

4. Send out the invitations- Best way to send an invitation is via phone. Phone calls will not leak to the special person. However, sometimes we donât always have their phone numbers. If you donât have everyoneâs phone number- get their email. Best electronic way of sending out invitations are through evites. Go to www.evite.com and you can create your own evite. If you arenât close friends with special personâs friends- find a trust worthy person to be a middle person. For example: When Mammie threw a surprise party for her brother, she had his roommate forward all the evites. This way, you donât have to worry about forgetting someone. ***MAKE SURE YOU EMPHASIZE THE *SURPRISE* ASPECT***

5. Follow up- Follow up with the accomplice. Follow up with your guests. A week before your event- send out a follow up email. A few days before your event- get a final count. Make sure the plans are still in effect with accomplice and special person. Confirm reservations or accommodations for event night.

6. Day of event: Set everything up with extra time. When you are planning something like this - you want to make sure you give yourself an extra 45 min-1.5 hours- just in case. If you having the event at your residence, or at a residence, make sure you are completely ready before the guests arrive. If you are having the party at a restaurant - try to arrive early enough for decorations. Most restaurants will allow large parties to sit when 1/2 the party is present so make sure you get some people there on time.

7. Right before the accomplice and special person arrive: make sure everyone is in their place. Last thing you want is a straggler to be wandering, or making excessive noise that will ruin the surprise. Have the accomplice text, or call you right before they arrive. That way you can make sure you have people in place.

8. SURPRISE!!!!! Try to have someone there to capture the moment.

*Keep in mind* A surprise party is an event to remember. Make sure you have a camera to capture all the moments. Try to decorate the venue so that your special person will have no doubt in their mind that this was a planned event. Get a blank scrapbook, color pens, and have your guests write a little message while they wait for the big surprise.

The above 8 steps should be able to aid you in planning a surprise party. The key is to have enough time to plan, set up and execute your party. A surprise party is such a heart warming experience. Go the extra mile and get people together and share a special night with those you love. Good luck!

What are some ideas for birthday invitations?

I'm having a birthday party soon and it's board game themed since all my friends like to play board games... well it's a great idea for everything... except I can't think of any decorations or party favors that apply to the theme. Could you help me out?

Answer
This is where you've got to be creative. Get some paper and cut them into big squares--you want them to look like Scrabble pieces, even including a numbered point on the bottom. First off-make a WELCOME sign...that's your first word going across.
Add a T over the O
Add a Y under the M
Add letters H,O,U.S over top of the E (you now read it as "Welcome To My House"Scrabble style!

Make a checkered board to add those letters on and hang on the front door or as guests enter.

Have people "buy" snacks with Monopoly money=put a price by each item. If they run out of money, they have to perform a task to earn more (something funny, like balancing something on their head and walk across the room or blowing up a balloon, knot it, then sit on it til it breaks)...or whatever else you can think of.....in fact, think of many ideas, put them like cards into a holder and they have to draw one idea out. Ideas could include: jump rope, do hula hoop, bounce a ball, and so on.

Make up a black/red checkerboard (again with paper, unless you have a real one) and use it to hold round cookies (each wrapped in plastic wrap) as playing pieces for serving.

Set the food table up with a colorful tablecloth and add items grouped together that represent the game pieces in the game Clue: an iron , a candlestick, a shoe, ; make it look like the decoration..and make sure they're clean ;D. Tie balloons to those items to make festive like a centerpiece. Add some dice to the arrangement..the big ones.

Hang up fuzzy dice all over.

Put bunches of lollipops in jars set around to look like bouquets (or can sit a grouping on the table
along with bowls of gumdrops, licorice) to represent the game Candyland.

Apples to Apples>>put a bunch together, speaks for itself

Use an old deck of cards or Uno cards for coasters and to glue (using that stuff Modpodge from craft store ) to make a collage on a poster board to hang up.

INVITATIONS: make paper scrabble tiles and enclose them in the invitations. Instruct your guests-to-be to put together the highest scoring word they can using the letters you've included with their invitation. Let them know there will be a special prize for the person with the highest scoring word. Send everyone the same letters or randomly select 7 or 8 letters per person and be sure to include at least one vowel. (You may also want to deduct points for unused letters).
Scrabble letters and point value for each and how many are in a game>>>

9 A's...1pt, 2 B;s...3 pt, 2 C's...3pt, 4 D's...2 pt, 12 E's...1 pt, 2 F's...1 pt, 3 G's..2 pt, 2 H's..4 pt, 9 I's..1 pt, 1 J..8 pt, 1 K..10 pt,4 L's..1 pt..2 M's..2 pt, 6 N's..1 pt, 8 O's..1 pt, 2 P's..3 pt, 1 Q..8 pt, 6 R's..1 pt, 4 S's..1 pt, 6 T's..1 pt, 4 U's..1 pt..2 V's..4 pt..2 W's..10 pt, 1 X..10 pt, 1 Z..10 pt.

Party favors: pens, notepads, candy (from Candyland) or candy flavored lip balm, magnifying glass (detective work from Clue), apple treats..apple flavored gum or candy, apple shaped notepad, etc.....foil wrapped candy coins,

Have all your guests name the games you've represented with your decorations..have them write down their answers and best one wins. I'm sure you can think of even more ideas, but this will get you started.

Can Someone Help with Ninja Gaiden II Birthday Party?

Hot Mama1

My son wants to celebrate his 10th birthday with Ninja Gaiden II for the XBox 360. I can handle the cake and invitations but what about everything else? No one carries anything "Ninja Gaiden II"?

Answer
In my opinion, he is too young to play that game, it is rated "M" for a reason, in addition to a massive amount of blood, there is a scene of frontal nudity.

And from experience, he will go insane from the difficulty of the game.

But if you want to give him a Ninja Gaiden Birthday party...

Some plastic swords, a ninja outfit or two, and a oriental setting would do well for your son.

How to make £500 in 3 months as a 14 year old?

Daniel J

I really need to save £500 by roughly march april time - because I need to get an XBOX 360 and repair my Laptop!

Please, any ideas exept babysitting are appreciated

Answer
Here's a short list of jobs which you can create to generate income:

1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item.

2. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour.

3. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour.

4. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel.

5. Why not become a paid feeder servicing the disabled at nearby nursing, convalescent, assisted living/care centers and hospitals. It involves feeding food to patients who are unable to feed themselves. The starting rate is $8.00 per hour. The only downside is that one has to take precautions to wash one's hands after each feeding. A posting of your services [by a business card or flyer] on a reviewable bulletin board would be enough to generate customers. The paid feeder position is one of the fastest growing occupation at this time.

Good luck!

Q. What are some good classroom games for kids? The kids would have to stay seated so no games with too much walking about. And I'll be giving prizes so there would have to be only one winner. There would be about 30 kids playing. I really have no idea so any help would be brilliant, thanks.

Any sort of game would be great, but preferably not number games.I really have no idea so any help would be brilliant, thanks.

Heads Up 7 up... directions at first site below
Around the world ...
Jeopardy .. second web site below ( can be done on computer, projected on white board, or make your own cards)

Consider dividing the students into smaller groups or even partners to play games such as UNO, checkers, PHONICS games, dominoes, chess, Hangman, backgammon, parcheesi , battleship, tic tac toe etc. Try asking the kids what their favorite games are.

There are also all of the circle or group games such as Dollar, Dollar( involves kids passing something from one to another while the person in the middle tries to guess where the object is), Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves ( Person in the middle tries to guess who is changing a pattern of motions), Going on a Bear Hunt ( Repeat song. Leader says a line, students repeat it and the the actions... easily changed ) , Twenty questions ( select a person or an object, students may ask up to 20 questions with yes, no, or I don't know answers) . Have the students make up a story, always stopping in the middle of something to allow the next person to jump in. Do the memory games such as I am going on a camping trip and I am going to take ___. The next person repeats what has been said and adds something. By the end of the game someone ( you maybe) has to repeat all 30 of the students' names and what each will take.

Prizes need not be expensive. For example, I have used animal crackers, vanilla wafers, Clementines, apples, stickers, calendar pictures, coupons for computer time, carnival or book fair coupons etc. Be sure to check for food allergies and school policies before handing out prizes. Consider some activities which stress cooperation and fun rather than just competition. The class will overall run more smoothly. Do you really want 30 highly competitive students in the same classroom? Also, if this is for a party , for example, recruit some help such as a parent or teacher .

Any ideas for what games to play and what to eat for a camping birthday party for a 2 year old?

We have a cabin rented that has a fire pit. There is also a lot of room to do games, etc. Our son will be 2 and there will be kids age newborn to 12 years old and also adults. Any game ideas/food ideas? We were already planning on have stuff for smores & we will have meat to grill (hot dogs/hamburgers). Also, this is going to be for March 2009; I just want to get everything squared away before it sneaks up. Thanks.

I was wondering what kind of software/tools would I need to get to be able to make mainly kid's birthday party invitations. I would like to be able to incorporate characters... and also the childs picture wherever I want on the invitation. Would software would give me the ability to do so?

Answer
Adobe InDesign, It is basically the leading program for designing. Although, i have to worn you it is very expensive, and if you want to include photos then you might want to Adobe Photoshop, which is also expensive.

Although if your crafty and resourceful enough, you might be able to pull it off in Microsoft Word, It wouldn't be as well done if you did it in InDesign but it might be able to get a simple, basic, crude, ordinary design from it

What are some creative ways for wording a dinosaur birthday party invite?

My son is having his 5th birthday party as a dinosaur party. We have several things planned such as a "dino dig" (dig in sand for toy dino), making our own volcano erupt and creating a cool dino fact book. I have all this planned but cant think of a creative way to word his invitations. He is inviting his whole Kindergarten class (some of which do not have the money to bring a gift) so i also wanted to include that gifts are not expected on the invites. Any ideas?

Answer
Roar, take a dive, ______ is turning five!
"address, time, date"
Gifts optional.
Or, "a roaring good time."

Happy birth day to him.
:)

My Grandmother is turning 90 in August, what type of party would be the best to throw for her?

I am throwing her a birthday party.. an open invitation for all of her family members... and I was wondering as to where to start as far as food is concerned... go potluck? or where do I start in making and buying the food??? Any advice will be appreciated. Right now, i'm starting at scratch!
No sarcasms pls.. i'm serious about this.

Answer
Keep in mind that Grandma's appetite is probably a lot smaller than when she was younger and she may have a bit more trouble eating some things so keep it simple. Nothing hard or messy to eat like ribs. Potluck works well especially if you give each person an idea of what to bring so you don't end up with duplicates of everything. Different kinds of meatballs ( sweet and sour, etc. ), fried chicken, salads, fancy finger sandwiches, pickles, olives, a variety of cheeses, lasagna, coldcuts, devilled eggs, some homemade bread or rolls, and a variety of squares, cookies and dainties (as they used to call them), ice cold lemon aide and lots of tea. If Grandma enjoys a certain alcoholic beverage have it on hand or a bottle of champayne for a toast to her health. She will probably not have the stamina to handle a party that goes on for hours so by keeping the time for heating up or preparing foods to a minimum more time can be spent visiting with her. If it's a nice day outside decorate the yard with balloons and streamers with a specially decorated chair for grandma and have the party outdoors picnic style. She probably doesn't get to spend as much time outside as she used to and would really enjoy it. Tape some old music that was popular in her younger years to play in the background with a special song just for her,( let me call you sweetheart?) and get her up to waltz to it if shes able. If not type out the words to some old songs, hand them out to everyone and sing along with her. Get the kids to put together a skit to perform for her. Seniors love remenising so perhaps search out the internet put together a list of things that happened the day or year she was born and read them to her. A birthday cake should be the highlight of the day. Take lots of pictures and present her with a Signed guestbook as a keepsake of her special day. On my Mothers 80th and my Fathers 90th birthdays we contacted the Government and they were given beautiful commemorative plaques and framed certificates and congratulatory letters from the government. I don't know if they do that where you live but my parents felt so honored by this.
Please excuse spelling errors...spell check not working.

What should I do for my 13th Birthday Party?

Q. I am having a GIRLS only birthday party. My 13th Brithday party is next October 2008. I have my own movie Theatre if that helps. And a HUGE house. Im going to invite all my girl friends but I don't know what kind of birthday to have. We are willing to buy lots of party accesories. Any help?

Answer
WOW....my niece just had her 10th birthday using DVD invitations with her pictures and a song with the invitations instructions...about 1-3 minutes long.
You should try that as an invitation..and for the party if you gonna have dancing; on the movie screen you should have the music videos to that song you are playing...and someone filming the party that may occasionally show live on the screen what is going on while the party is popping.

If you want suttle with just girls...I recommend a party that involves movies and karaoke...
