Also is there anywhere where I can fiend Diego invitation templates??

Answer
Hi LizJames,

Great question! I have a son who loves Diego (& Dora) so I know how important this can be. Hopefully some of these links will help you out:

http://www.nickjr.com/shows/diego/crafts/index.jhtml: Here you will find a bunch of "Do-Together Crafts" for Go, Diego, Go! Everything from Baby Jaguar masks to Diego's Spotting Scope. These are some fun & easy at-home projects that can be used for a party as well.

http://www.nickjr.com/shows/diego/print_learn/index.jhtml: At this link you'll find many color pages, cards and badges to print out and decorate for Go, Diego, Go!

http://www.nickjr.com/shows/diego/diego-safari/index.jhtml: The last link I'll suggest from Nick Jr, this one has everything for Safari- along with a video from the arts & crafts to inspire! If you are looking for a recipe to accompany your Diegopalooza, check this site out.

http://blogs.oc.edu/ee/index.php?/dlovejoy/comments/go_diego_go/: This personal family blog shows how to make Diego's outfit. It might be fun for dress up, a birthday party or just simply watching a favorite episode.

On Google's Image Search, there's a bunch of semi-high res Diego logos you can use, as well. This site used the logos as well as has a bunch of ideas for implementing fun Dora & Diego episode elements: http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com/html/dora_parties_7.html and this site has a ton of ideas as well as links for templates: http://kidstvmovies.about.com/od/godiegogo/a/diegoparty.htm

Here's the UK Nick Jr. site for Go, Diego, Go! with printable arts & crafts: http://www.nickjr.co.uk/shows/diego/index.aspx

And not to completely inundate you, here is the last link: http://www.disneyclips.com/imagesnewb6/godiegogo.html. It has some Go, Diego, Go! clipart that if used small, might be fun to incorporate into your designs.

I hope this helps you with your endeavor!

Very Best Regards,
Alana Renfro

where can i find free birthday invitation ideas and downloads on the net?

DC

Answer
I have had great luck and am very satisfied with http://www.free-printable-party-invitations-online.com/birthday-party-invitations.html I have used this site to create invitations for several different types of parties: birthday, baby shower, etc. The best part is that it is completely free to use, no catches! When I was searching for free printable invitations the first time I found many sites that claimed to be free to use, but really werenât. This site is different.

No matter what kind of birthday party you are planning, you are sure to find an invitation on this site to suit your needs.

After you download the free invitation templates you can use one of the pre-made invitations with design and wording as is or you can import your own graphics and use the wording of you choice too.

When I initially stumbled upon this site I wasnât particularly computer savvy, but I was able to create invitations with ease and got many compliments from the invitees. The look and quality of the invitations is definitely above what most people expect when they hear that they are free.

If you happen to be planning a themed birthday party you are in luck. They have invitations that fit just about any theme.

I bet youâll be as satisfied with the free downloadable and printable invitations you can create from this site, as I was.

Should I throw a surprise party for my mom's birthday?

I am trying to decide if I should throw a surprise party for my mom for her 64th birthday. I have already bought a few things for the party (a banner, invitations, and a few prizes for games), but now I am second guessing if she would want the party. My mom does not like being the center of attention and doesn't like a lot of money spent on her.

My mom raised me by herself and she is a great mother. We never had a lot of money growing up, but I always had an amazing Christmas and birthday. I am an only child and me and my mom are close. I was born on her 40th birthday, so I always received a party, but for the last 23 years she has not had any birthday.

I am wondering if I should just tell her what I am planning and see what she says. Our birthday is tomorrow, but I had the party planned for February 23rd.

So do you think I should throw the party or not? I could always use the money that I was gonna spend on the party, to spend on her and get her some stuff that she needs and wants.

Answer
i 100% agree with ron. take the money you were going to spend on the party and take her some place nice, just the two of you! a spa day is a GREAT idea. same with dinner, an overnight getaway (stay at a nice b&b), seeing a play or going to the symphony.. anything special that she would like. someone who doesn't like to be the center of attention does NOT want a surprise party!

I need help figuring out an ORIGINAL party theme for a 15th birthday party. Please Help!?

I need the party theme to be very original. One of a kind. A thene that not many people would think of. It needs to be outside of the box.

The party is for a girl and the budget doesnt matter.

Answer
Need more info on what do you like, when is it going to be and do you have a budget??

But anyway.. how about an underground rave party... you can have the party anywhere there´s enough space for everyone you are inviting....

decorations... just cover the whole walls and ceiling in black or a dark color like plastic trash bags, use neon or glow in the dark spray paint to put fun words on the walls and even do some fashionable graffiti... use black lights and have a dj with a light show

food and drink.... have a buffet table with sub sandwiches, salads, pasta and chips and lots of different sodas and punch and water..

invitations.... have a hush hush invitation, VIP only flyer kind of invite, but do not put the location of the party until the day before or the same day of the party on a web site of your choosing (tell them to check it out at a specific time, because it´s only going to be there for a few minutes)

door prizes or goodie bags... you have to have them... give away glow in the dark bracelets or different stuff that glows in the dark... give a good prize for a best dancer (do a dance of)

security.... you have to have some grown ups at the party to make sure everything goes smoothly and if you have party crashers then your party will be a blast....

was that something you where looking for in the out of the box ideas....????

have fun...!!!!

How do I organize a murder mystery party at home?

volatile22

I want to organize a murder mystery party at home, where guests come over and are given specific characters. Does anyone know how I could go about this? There's kits and stuff online, but they're all on sale, I'm looking for a free one, any ideas?

Answer
Write your own. It's free, easy-ish to do, and you (knowing your guests better than most people) can give them characters that you wrote with them in mind.

Start with a setting, characters and why they're all together. e.g. it's Don Delfino's birthday, but the gangster's been found dead. All the guests have motives, from the money-hungry fifth wife to the bitter daughter. Setting is the Don's restaurant. Characters are:
Lola Delfino: the Don's fifth wife
Danny Delfino: the greedy son
Darla Delfino: the daughter cut off from the family fortune, etc.
Jimmy Jones: an infamous "businessman" and friend of the family.

Clues: gun, note from murderer threating the Don/ another character, etc.
Create a time line for the event e.g.
6.30 guests arrive
6.40 Jimmy welcomes everyone
6.45 the Don is shot (you could play a gunshot sound effect)
6.50 character finds first clue

On invitations/email/whatever set the mystery for the guests, give them their character and the character's background, as well as the names and backgrounds of the other characters e.e.

It's 20's Chicago and business is booming. At least for Don Delfino. And hey, by the way, you're been invited to his birthday. It's the biggest night of the year. And Don wouldn't want you to miss it. Hopefully he won't either...
Your character is: Jimmy Jones
Your background: Even though you've been telling everyone you've been "doing business" in NY, you've actually been on the inside for the past 2 years. And it's because the Don framed you. Hey, you didn't actually think he'd take the fall for anything. Did you?

You could also plan finger food around the theme you choose, and get costumes if you want.

Good luck!

Etiquette question for 2 year old's birthday party?

kids birthday invitation zoo
on Zoo Party Invitations, Children's Party Invitation, Kids Birthday ...
kids birthday invitation zoo image

<3 I HAVE

I am having my sons birthday party at a zoo. The room is $100 for 2 hours and then $4 admission per guest over age 2. Is it tacky to ask the parents to pay for their entrance and I cover their child? How should I phrase this request in the invite?
That suggestion would be great if we had a house. We live in a small apt for the time being.

Answer
I dunno; if you can't afford it, I would say go for something simpler and cheaper. Is a zoo party really appropriate for a two-year-old? I'd think the older children would get a lot more out of it.

I would say that you can limit the adult guests to one per child. The invitations could say something like, "Daniel would like to invite Suzy and one adult to a party at the zoo!"

Depends on how well you know the other parents; if you know them pretty well, you can easily sound them out on the zoo admission thing ahead of time. However, if you are throwing this party just to Gain Status, and you don't really know these guys, definitely pay for them.

EDIT: I read somewhere that you should only invite as many kids as your kid is old. So, for a two-year-old's party, two guests is plenty. For an eight-year-old's party, eight kids would work.

If you have social obligations that you want to clear in one sweep, why not wait until spring, and then have a "block party" at a local park? You can have more fun with that, and it won't cost as much.

Also, look into renting a hall from a local church or possibly see if the local government has spaces you can rent (I live in Japan, and we have a kitchen, a gym, and several rooms available in our community center). Restaurants often have party rooms, too. (-: You can buy a lot of party favors for the bucks you save!

I really think the zoo is something to do with older kids, and in warmer weather.

best place for a boy's first birthday party?

jenanderz

too many people for someones home. lots of kids will be attending. we're looking for something similar to a chucky cheese, but not chucky cheese. i live in the metro detroit (michigan) area. any help please?

Answer
Visit the Zoo

Zoos are wonderful kids' birthday party places. Most zoos offer party packages but you can plan one on your own easily. Create a scavenger hunt for the children to go on at the zoo. Give them directions like âfind an animal that eats meatâ or âfind a nocturnal animalâ. The party members can work on the scavenger hunt together or they can break into two teams and race to find all the answers. Just make sure the children are always accompanied by an adult. Most zoos allow guests to bring their own food, so plan on bringing a cake or cupcakes and juice boxes for a picnic celebration.

Summary

There are many options for hosting a kid's birthday party outside of the home. Make sure to include the exact address of the kids birthday party place with the phone number on the party invitation. Make it clear if parents are invited to stay at the party or if they will be expected to drop their child off and leave. If parents are needed to stay with their child, their entrance fees should be covered by the party host. The best thing about utilizing outside party locations is, at the end of the day, your house will look exactly how you left it in the morning!

truth or dare?

I went to a friend's birthday party and her mom had written up these slips of paper that had truth or dare questions on them and other little activities and "winner" on them. Then she put them into balloons and blew them up. Then we would take turns picking a balloon and popping it to get the paper out and we would have to do whatever was on the paper. If they got a winner one, then they'd get a prize. One boy got a truth or dare question - I can't remember what the question was but something like "Do you still sleep with your teddy bear" or some embarassing question like that and the dare was Run around the house (outside) so many times chanting "I'm an idiot". He opted to run around the house. It was hilarious

finger sandwichs tuna turkey ect
hot wings

Food
chips and dip pizza
cheese on a stick wit crackers andham around it
pig in the blankets
honey chicken on a stick
fruit tray
cheese sticks
onion rings
fried pickles
cookies
finger sandwichs tuna turkey ect
hot wings
if you ddont wanna do that you can do this

Blast from the Past, 50's sock hop, where every one dresses from 50's ponytails, rolled up jeans, poodle skirts, thick white socks to dance in. Play that era music, and jitterbug, stroll, and the like. Food could be hot dogs, cocoa, hamburgers and chips. Cut out cardboard jukeboxes/soda fountains, 57 Chevys, and paint for decorations.

Eighties Bash, BIG HAIR, lots of makeup, Tom Cruise look for guys, Disco balls. Subs, finger foods. Flashing lights, cocktail signs etc. Trivial Pursuit.

Favorite book characters/TV/movie characters, in costume, play games like Charades to guess character. Decorate with cardboard movie posters, homemade, or book jackets. Play music from movies/TV shows. Fonzie punch, Tool man stew, Potter potatoes, etc.

Princess type party, with formal dress for guests, floor length dresses, suits/tuxes for guys. Cake and punch, streamers, twinkle Xmas lights behind evergreen branches, and in jars/punch bowls.

Charity party, where everyone donates food to be distributed to food bank. A project can be done, either picking up trash, walking animals at shelter, visiting with elderly, helping with children at a school, hot dogs, and cokes, no decorations needed much here.

A potluck dinner, where each guest will contribute something to eat, or drink, and you supply cake/punch. Play board games, watch a movie, or dance.

Round Robin dinner, or what is now called Progressive party, where one person provides snacks, another main course, another dessert, go from each house to visit, eat, and move on.

Skating party, if you live where ice skate outdoors, bundle up and build fire, have thermoses of hot cocoa, and go back to house for chili.

Hayride/sleigh ride, depending on area, either pull with horses, or tractor. Hamburgers/soup, cake.

Come as you are party, everyone must come as they were dressed when opened invitation. Cake punch.

hope that helps :)

Ideas for a game for a 60th birthday party?

floridagat

My mom is turning 60 this year and I'm throwing her a surprise party. Does anybody have any ideas for some kind of games or activities to do? Anything is appreciated!

Answer
Someone was going to do a surprise party for my 50th, but I found out & was glad it wasn't a surprise & could help in the planning, plan what to wear, & look forward to it. Surprise parties are dreadful. We got a free room at a local pizza & pasta place as long as we guaranteed 20 people. Invited about 75 to get 20. Someone made my favorite apple cake, & restaurant provided cake table similar to luggage rack. Did a 10-minute decorating job with construction paper numbers somebody had made for short party at work & the regular balloons not helium. Also, brought my crystal jar filled with Hershey's Kisses for dessert. Was fine. Invited whole families so parents wouldn't need to get sitters. (a few friends with late-in-life kids while in their 40's--maybe 6 or 7 kids)

I cut out comic strips from the newspaper & used white-out on some panels, glued them onto an 8 1/2 X 11 paper & mailed with the invitations for people to make up their own captions. Was things like Cathy trying on bras & Hagar & wife with a log, crashing a party, etc. That went well, but then had about 3 people judging the contest. That was stupid & too time-consuming. Should have just passed them around.

Prizes were cheap magnets from Big Lots & a package of incense, things I had around, etc. Should have just bought party favors from the party store for everyone. I wasn't used to giving parties.

Wanted to find words to well-known songs like She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain & Someone's in the Kitchen with Dinah & Beatles songs so there would be something for the kids to do, too. I wanted to photocopy the words. A friend vetoed that & said I should just ask kids what they like to sing. As it happened we didn't have time for the singing due to contest judging. Kids sat at their own table & colored pictures provided by restaurant. Should have done it my way since I think singalongs are fun for both kids & adults.

Regardless of that, it was the most wonderful night of my life. Was in wool aqua dress, which fits nicely. Should have had somebody taking pictures because it was so much fun. I gave little 1-minute speech thanking people for attending & saying I only wished I could have sat next to each one. Glad I had the presence of mind to do that. After cake & all, I went around the room & talked to each person so that everyone had my attention for awhile, although I did greet everyone, too, when each arrived.

One thing I started doing when helping with people's b-day cakes is to cut one piece for the honoree, & place a candle on it to be blown out instead of blowing all over the whole cake with all the germs. Also, there are plastic cakes with holes for candles that preschoolers' Sunday school classes use for birthdays when there won't be any cake. One of those would work, too, for the candle blowing. Another thing you can do is to let each person at the party come up to light a candle & make a wish for the honoree, using a candle snuffer afterward, while still letting the honoree blow out the one candle or six or whatever.

I've been at h.s. class reunions with that game of trivia about the time period, such as price of postage at the time of graduation. Worked well with a large group with each table of people working together. We've also had ones about our h.s. class (not for your party) & for names of places in town that may be gone now, such as the miniature golf course or the hamburger hangout.

The one game I saw on that link that wasn't good was the penalty for loosing balance. That's touchy for seniors, so think of a way to get around that. Sorry to be negative about that one thing because overall, I think the links people have given you were fantastic.

Another game is to make something like Bingo cards that has written info about people attending, like who went to Japan last summer or who has taken a train trip or had a certain car during h.s. or who owns an I-phone or who knows the nickname of the jazz musician (Satchmo) or plays the drums or some other trivia or hobby or personal info. Participants mingle with each other with a time limit to try to fill in each other's names as the answer for each rectangle & at least get a Bingo. Might take several sheets to get everyone in. Also, you'd need to email everyone to find out this personal trivia like hobby or trip or whatever. This is a get-acquainted game but would also work for this. Can give prizes like candy for highest number of right answers, whole sheet, or a Bingo.

more re: party favors...my mother arranged a family reunion at an all-you-can-eat buffet place with a party room. Besides an address list revised at the party & mailed out later, she also had cleared out her souvenir tote bags from her travels & a few knick-knacks. She arranged them on a long table for each person to take one or two.

This is random but it seems like every question that has any kind of picture or link gets automatically deleted. I've been trying to ask a question and it requires posting links to pictures but it doesn't seem like links are allowed. Am I wrong or whats up with that?

Answer
Click on the ABOUT tab. Click on Community Guidelines. They are quite extensive. Here is just part of what Yahoo says about what constitutes chatting.>>

Yahoo! Answers is a question-and-answer community of people sharing knowledge. We provide a couple of different ways for members to connect with one another, including email, instant message, and a comments area, so chatting in questions and answers is not allowed. When people use Answers to chat with each other, it lowers the quality of the site and inhibits knowledge-sharing.

Yahoo! Answers is not meant to be about gaming or playing a game, it is about sharing knowledge with other Yahoo! users across the world and, for this reason, questions involving gaming are not allowed.

Here are a few examples of what we consider chatting:

How (are you, old are you, was your day, is everyone today)?
What are you/What am I (doing, thinking of, wearing, etc.)?
Guess my/Can you guess my/What's your (name, age, sex, weight, birthday, location, etc.)?
Who is fromâ¦/Who plays â¦here/Who wants to chat
Do you like my (avatar, web site, poem, etc.)?*
Who wants to celebrate my birthday, drivers license, first 100 points, level 7?
Where is user (nickname) gone?
Avatar games and games of any nature

We also consider questions that call out other users by name to be chatting. If the intent is to ask a follow-up question in response to someone elseâs question and that person is not available via email or IM, post a new question thatâs open to everyone in the community to answer â there might be someone else whoâs better equipped to answer it.

* Please note that exceptions to this rule would have to satisfy two criteria: The question would have to be 1) advice-seeking and 2) knowledge-worthy. For example, it would be OK to ask, "How can I improve my poem?" or "How do I make my avatar look more attractive?"
_____________________________________

Without knowing the exact wording or the Q that got dinged, I can't say 100% either way, but if you posted a question that said, "What do you think of my hairdo?" or "Do you like my hair cut?" these are considered invitations to chat, not seeking knowledge of any value and only seeking an opinion for your own use. If your question was, "What way could I style my hair for a fancy party?" " or "What is the latest fashion for hair colouring this time of year?" those questions are not violations because you are seeking knowledge.

Also, when you receive a violation, posting about it can be a violation in itself. Word it very carefully. For example, "Who reported me?" is an invitation to chat, to gossip, but "Could anyone tell me why questions might get deleted?" is okay because it is seeking knowledge. This question you're asking now is legit because you are seeking knowledge.

The links are also a potential red flag for spam, solicitation, and may lead to a shock website such as pornography. You should tell members what is in the video. It is a violation to say, "What do you think of this?" and post that question with a video link. You should not post videos to places outside of Yahoo that ask members to do surveys or to subscribe. That is a violation.

Trust me, you should take the time to really go through the Community Guidelines. Also, if you have questions about how Yahoo works, instead of risking a violation by posting in Q&A, you should make these inquires in the Suggestion Board. As you can tell, I have, in a short period of time, become quite knowledgeable about what is abuse and what is not, just by posting several questions in there. The regulars who hang around to pounce on your question will, for the most part, make things clear right away, though even they disagree sometimes.

I hope that helps. Nobody likes a violation. I got one for telling someone they had posted their question in the wrong category. Thought I was being helpful but I was "not answering the question" so somebody reported me.

what to do on a birthday party?

Q. im turning 23 this june. i need ideas on how to make my birthday a blast. usually i just take my friends out for a meal. any unique ideas? im thinking of a trip somewhere, maybe at the beach etc., but what do we do there? also if theres any idea, it would be much appreciated :)

Answer
Hip Hop Theme
For those who love to dance, a hip hop theme will make a memorable party. Invitations that resemble backstage passes are simple to create with a computer and a photo program. First create a rectangle that is 4 inches by 7 inches, and fill it in with any color that will complement the party color scheme. Then, add a square picture of the guest of honor to the top of it. Type in the important party information below the picture, and be sure to tell guests to dress in their best hip hop clothes. Baggy shirts, baggy pants and tennis shoes will make a great outfit for a hip hop themed party. On the side of the invitation, create a strip that runs lengthwise from top to bottom and fill it in with the color black. On that strip type the words "Backstage Pass," and turn the words sideways to make sure it fits. Using white lines in different widths, create a bar code and place it at the top of the black strip to make the invitation look more authentic. Invitations can be delivered in a lanyard, so guests can wear their backstage passes around their necks. As guests arrive give them sunglasses, fake gold chains and fake gold rings to wear throughout the night as party favors.

Decorating for a hip hop themed party is simple. Hang large posters featuring various hip hop artists on the walls. Cardboard cut outs of stars also can be used to add to the ambiance. Hip hop has gone through many transformations over the years, and includes things like graffiti and break dancing. Incorporating various parts of hip hop into the decor will not only complement the theme, but provide additional entertainment for the party guests as well. On one wall, hang large sheets of butcher paper and have cups filled with Sharpie markers in various colors. Allow guests to use these markers to create their own graffiti throughout the night. Hip hop stars like elegance, so the decor should resemble a party stars would attend. Use strands of white Christmas lights as the main source of lighting, and consider having a disco ball hanging over the dance area. Purchase white balloons, streamers and table linens to decorate the area. Serve food in bowls that look like crystal, and allow guests to drink beverages from champagne glasses. If the budget allows, have an open bar for guests who choose to drink alcoholic beverages. For additional table decorations, scatter fake diamonds on the table top along with candles on crystal candle sticks.

Hire a DJ or have a friend or family member control the music for the evening. In addition to popular club music, include hits from the past. Guests will enjoy hearing songs from artists like Michael Jackson, Bel Biv Devoe and TLC. For added entertainment, hire a professional to teach guests various break dancing moves or hold a dance competition and allow guests to challenge each other to see who has the best moves.

80's Theme
An 80's theme is not only an easy theme to create, but it is one guests are sure to enjoy. In addition to the important party information on the invitations, be sure to tell guests to dress in their best 80's costumes. Women can wear skirts with leggings under them and belly shirts. Men can wear jean jackets and a concert T-shirts. For party favors, give guests glow necklaces and fluorescent hats as they arrive at the party.

Decorations should complement the decade as well. Balloons, streamers and table linens in fluorescent pink, yellow and green will instantly give the room an 80's look. Black lights will help set off the fluorescent colors. In addition to the party favors given at the door, set bowls of jelly bracelets, slap bracelets and glow sticks around the room. Not only will it add to the decor, but the guests will have fun playing with them as well. Hang posters of popular stars from the 80's around the room, and have a TV set up to play old music videos with the sound muted. A fog machine will add a great special effect to the dance area as well. For entertainment, play various songs from the 80's and let guests dance the night away.

Toga Party
A toga party is a fun theme for a 23rd birthday bash. Send invitations telling guests a toga is required. Guests can purchase togas from a costume store or they can easily make one out of a sheet. Keep extra sheets on hand in case guests arrive who are not in proper toga attire. Keep decorations to a minimum, with streamers, balloons and table linens in coordinating colors. A TV can be set up to play the movie Animal House in the background to get guests in the mood for a wild party. Keep food to a minimum as well; in fact, simply serving chips and dip is fine. Alcohol, preferably kegs of beer, is the main focus of a toga party and should be randomly placed throughout the party area. To entertain guests, make sure there is a large dance area, and turn the music up so the guests can enjoy the night.

I'm trying to think of a theme for my 18th birthday party. I'm female. I really want a party that I can dress up for and money is an issue. I was given the suggestion of a masquerade ball, but I'm not sure I could pull that off. It is February 25 and my birthday is September 25. I have a lot of time to plan, but I figured I would get a head start since I need time to find out where I can hold my party!!

Any ideas are appreciated!! Thanks!

--------------------------------------...

Luaus are colorful and fun, and the food is fabulous. So, if you ask me, I think planning a luau is a great way to have a party. Limbo on down the page and check it out...

Invitation:

Make a flier or buy a luau invitation at your local party/stationery store, but instead of sending it alone, prove you're creative and include a flower hair comb for your girlfriends and a flower wrist/ankle lei for the guys. Tell them they must wear the enclosed pieces on their bodies somewhere, and that you want them to dress luau-creative. That will get them talking long before the party!

Outside Entrance:

To make a grand entrance, place bamboo tiki torches outside your door as the first indication to your guests that this is going to be the luau to remember. You may even want to adorn your porch rail or doorway with parrot and/or palm tree lights for a festive effect. Add a CD player with island music to create the perfect atmosphere. If you are really adventurous and can stand the ridicule and neighbor gossip, use pink flamingos to adorn your front yard or line them up the driveway or front sidewalk.

Inside Entrance:

Use netting as your backdrop. Have a big basket of multi-color leis inside the door where people can help themselves to a few. I would plan on 5 or 6 per person so that they can be creative and festive with their leis. If you think you have the time, stand at the door and greet everyone with a lei--this is always a nice gesture and a traditional way of saying aloha. If you are really talented, have a ukulele on hand to serenade your guests as they enter. Maybe put a note on the basket urging them to wear them wherever they please. This will make for fun photo opportunities (you can send them later as a thank you for attending the party).

Backyard:

The backyard is just as fun to decorate as the rest of the house, so donât neglect this space if weather permits or if you plan to expand the party outside. Paper lanterns might be a nice touch, whether inside or in the back yard. Tribal masks are fun, too. Hang wind chimes and wooden parrots to give a complete background to your setting. Shells, sand and perhaps a mini-pool is order here as well. If you really want to go crazy, rent realistic looking fake palm trees and wooden totem poles to place around the yard/patio. Candle votives are a must, but donât forget the citronella candles.

Seating Cards or Name Tags:

If you are assigning seats or if you want to give out nametags (and this is wise when you have a lot of friends that don't know each other), hereâs a thought: thongs. You know, the rubber kind you wear on your feet with a flower in the center? They make for a great nametag or seating card. Just write the name in magic marker, add a 25¢ chain or ribbon (necklace) and voila--a humorous way to get people talking about your creativity and their thongs. Line them up alphabetically on a table near the entrance.

Another thought on this is to use starfish or sand dollars and write the name of the person on it. For nametags, string some ribbon around it.

Buffets:

Using grass skirts, make a table skirt around the buffet table to bring Hawaii right inside your home. Use a green plastic or linen tablecloth over the buffet and pin the skirting to the edges. Add fabulous tropical Mylar balloons (all you need is some helium) in the shape of fish, palm trees and other related shapes, so buffets can be seen from anywhere at the party. Use beachcomber hats (multi-color or plain) upside down to hold different snacks and munchies. Throw a mixture of fabulous foil-wrapped chocolate fish and island party confetti across your table. Your guests will really WOW at your thoughtfulness and carry-through. Provide tropical toothpicks as a final touch. Use baskets on each buffet to hold luncheon napkins, luau-theme

where is the best place to go to start my own invitation business?

Q. Everyone is always having me draw up their birthday party invites or invites to other events that they plan, so I figured I would start my own little business, but I don't know how, or even where to begin. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I don't have a lot of money, but I really want to get this started.

Answer
If you want to start an online business and sell your invitations online you can go to Pure E-Commerce. They can help you start a website from scratch and you also get step by step consultation from them on how to start and run the business. I went through them for my site, So Sweet Stationery, and they are wonderful. Their website is http://www.pure-ecommerce.com. You can also take a look at my site to see an example http://www.sosweetstationery.com.

Another option would be to work with existing stationery and invitation sites and have them sell your product on their sites and all you do is all of the creating and printing.

Good luck and I would love to see some examples of your stationery!!!

My Sister is Turning 12 In March And She Wants A sPORTS tHEMED pARTY...But For Girls(nO Football )hER fAVORITE sPORTS are Soccer...Softball...And Basketball...Websites Would Be Helpful...And We Really Need Game and Food Ideas

Answer
Sure...

Check the bowling theme...

Bowling parties already approach perfection. Kids find the game itself irresistible and love the giddy atmosphere of the alley--plus they're thrilled to wear shoes on the cutting edge of fashion. Okay, we're kidding about the shoes. (Still, how can you not have a good time when your feet look as if they've joined the circus?) Even with all this, though, a birthday party needs to feel extra-special. That's why we've jazzed up the standard bowling bash with some strikingly clever and easy ideas for invitations, party favors, party games, and a cake. They might just nudge near perfection to sheer perfection.
THE HIGHLY HIP T-SHIRT PARTY FAVOR
Download directions and templates for making customized T-shirts using your computer and specialty printing paper.
THE FUNKY CD SLEEVE INVITATION
This snazzy invite is a cinch to make: the envelope is a paper CD sleeve, the kind with the round cellophane window (sold for about 15 cents each at office supply stores). The bowling ball is a circle (4 3/4 inches in diameter) of black card stock, addressed and decorated with a white gel pen. (Note: due to the envelope's irregular size, you'll have to pay slightly more postage and write your return address on the back.)
WILD AND CRAZY PARTY GAMES
Even your most dedicated bowlers love thinking outside the frame. Just watch the party's fun level rise when the guests draw from a hat of outlandish bowling directives. Before the party, brainstorm ideas and write each on a piece of paper shaped like a bowling pin (see above).

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Bowl backward
Do a silly walk as you approach the lane
Bowl in slow motion
Bowl pretending that one of the boards in the lane's wood floor is a tightrope
Before you bowl, predict whether you will knock over an odd or even number of pins
For younger kids, consider trying the following. Between the time you release the bowling ball and the time it hits the pins: speed-sing as much of a song as possible; spell out loud the birthday child's name backward; call out as many pizza toppings/ice-cream flavors/kinds of candy as you can think of. Each bowler should then try to top the record.

Tip: Is there an arcade at your bowling alley? Then bring a big stack of quarters for your guests.

How far in advance should I send out birthday invites when people may come from out of town?

Rikki

I'm throwing my dad a surprise 60th birthday party at the end of August. Much of his family lives out of town. When would be the ideal time to send out the official birthday invites? My sister and I have talked about sending out invites, and then reminder notes a month later. I would rather just send the official invites and that be it. The party is scheduled for Aug 31st. Also, should we put a date on the invitation as the latest to RSVP?

Answer
I know it is a pain to sent things out twice, but your sister has a good plan - or you could do the reverse and send out "Save the Date" cards 2 to 3 months in advance and the real invite about a month ahead of time.

If you do only send out one invite give them one to two months notice.
YES include an RSVP by date! It will make it easier on you - there will still be people that don't send a response, but then you can call them and say you need to confirm if they will be there or not because you hadn't heard anything back.

How to word a birthday invitation - food wise?

lawrenceda

I'm sending out my mom's 60th birthday party invites. I'm not so sure how to word this. We are in the midwest, so very casual, and we will have birthday cake, and some finger foods like chips n salsa. This iwll take place after the dinner hour at 7:00pm.
Do I put finger foods on the invitation or hou r ouerves? Do I even mention it? Do I mention casual dress?

thanks so much!

Answer
You could always mention "appetizers provided". I agree with Bob, "Finger food" sounds nasty.

Good luck! hope it goes well!

Hey!
I am planning to throw a surprise birthday party for my sister (who'll be turning 24) this weekend.
Need help on the theme of the party. (To spice up dinner out with friends and make it more exciting!) Any ideas for the invite message? Would love to hear any tossing of ideas!

Answer
So we canât all be party planners, or so you think ⦠but itâs much easier than you think! Mammie has put together a few successful surprise parties, and itâs super easy! Surprise parties are a great way to make your loved ones feel special. Surprise parties arenât always an expensive ordeal either⦠Hereâs your quick guide on âHOW TO THROW A SUCCESSFUL SURPRISE PARTYâ

1. Find yourself an accomplice. The middle person who is going to find out information, and help plan the event.

2. Plan a date- Make sure the special boy/ girl is available on the date. Easiest way to find out - ask your accomplice to see if the special person is free on a specific day⦠Have the accomplice make plans with the special person . For example: When Mammie threw her best friend a surprise birthday party, Mammie had Mammy (accomplice) make plans with her best friend on the day of the party. That way - best friend would never expect anything other than her âplansâ with Mammy (accomplice). You donât want to plan the event too far in advance because the special person may find it suspicious. Ideally try to plan it 2-3 weeks in advance.

3. Pick a venue- Once your accomplice has secured a date- figure out a venue. Easiest way is to have your accomplice plan something where he/she can either take the special person to. For example: Mammy made plans with best friend to hang out during the day and then head home to get ready for dinner. Surprise! happened when they came home. Another example: Have accomplice make dinner plans with special person- and have everyone at that location at least 45 min before. (Saying 45 min will translate to people getting there just on time)

4. Send out the invitations- Best way to send an invitation is via phone. Phone calls will not leak to the special person. However, sometimes we donât always have their phone numbers. If you donât have everyoneâs phone number- get their email. Best electronic way of sending out invitations are through evites. Go to www.evite.com and you can create your own evite. If you arenât close friends with special personâs friends- find a trust worthy person to be a middle person. For example: When Mammie threw a surprise party for her brother, she had his roommate forward all the evites. This way, you donât have to worry about forgetting someone. ***MAKE SURE YOU EMPHASIZE THE *SURPRISE* ASPECT***

5. Follow up- Follow up with the accomplice. Follow up with your guests. A week before your event- send out a follow up email. A few days before your event- get a final count. Make sure the plans are still in effect with accomplice and special person. Confirm reservations or accommodations for event night.

6. Day of event: Set everything up with extra time. When you are planning something like this - you want to make sure you give yourself an extra 45 min-1.5 hours- just in case. If you having the event at your residence, or at a residence, make sure you are completely ready before the guests arrive. If you are having the party at a restaurant - try to arrive early enough for decorations. Most restaurants will allow large parties to sit when 1/2 the party is present so make sure you get some people there on time.

7. Right before the accomplice and special person arrive: make sure everyone is in their place. Last thing you want is a straggler to be wandering, or making excessive noise that will ruin the surprise. Have the accomplice text, or call you right before they arrive. That way you can make sure you have people in place.

8. SURPRISE!!!!! Try to have someone there to capture the moment.

*Keep in mind* A surprise party is an event to remember. Make sure you have a camera to capture all the moments. Try to decorate the venue so that your special person will have no doubt in their mind that this was a planned event. Get a blank scrapbook, color pens, and have your guests write a little message while they wait for the big surprise.

The above 8 steps should be able to aid you in planning a surprise party. The key is to have enough time to plan, set up and execute your party. A surprise party is such a heart warming experience. Go the extra mile and get people together and share a special night with those you love. Good luck!

Do anybody Know how can i make a birthday Invitations on my Computer?

Ok I am having a birthday Party and i want to make invitations so how can i do it on my computer where my pic can be on there to can you guys Please help me i need this by June 19

Answer
A quick, easy, and fun way to create your birthday invitations is to go to CropMom.com at http://www.cropmom.com. Cropmom is a online digital scrapbooking, collage, card making site.

Upload your photos. Make your invitation using them. You can add your own text. There are thousands of graphics to choose from to create your invitation. The site has templates and kits organized by theme or you can mix and match or be as creative as you want.

Then save it. Go to My CropMom and click on the layout. Then click the "share" link. It'll let you enter the email address of the recipient, and your screen-quality invitation will be sent via email for free.

For print-quality, you can purchase a JPEG file of your creation (it doesn't cost much) and download it to your computer.

From here, you can either print your invitations at home. Or -have them printed by Shutterfly or Snapfish or Costco, etc.

Where can I find a summer job for a 16 year old?

I am 16 and need a little help finding a summer job that will take 16 year olds.

I live in IL and have been searching on craig's list but that hasnt been much help considering my age.

any suggestions on where/how to find one?

Answer
Here's a short list of jobs in the U.S., Canada and Europe which you can create to generate income:

1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item.

2. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour.

3. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour.

4. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel.

5. Visit your nearest beauty salon and ask to be trained as a shampoo person who is also willing to sweep up fallen hair on the ground and do set ups [arranging dye kits, curler holders, etc.] for a set hourly fee.

6. Become a sign flipper by contacting your nearest realtor. A flipper is someone who stands at a major intersection and flips a "For Lease/Rental" sign in order to attract visitors to an open house or to a particular real estate listing. The hourly pay is at least the minimum wage.

7. Why not become a paid feeder servicing the disabled at nearby nursing, convalescent, assisted living/care centers and hospitals. It involves feeding food to patients who are unable to feed themselves. The starting rate is $8.00 per hour. The only downside is that one has to take precautions to wash one's hands after each feeding. A posting of your services [by a business card or flyer] on a reviewable bulletin board would be enough to generate customers. The paid feeder position is one of the fastest growing occupation at this time.

Good luck!

Does anyone have any good ideas for camping activities?

camping and fishing party ideas image

CampIng201

I am going camping this summer with my friends... And I don't know what we should do!!! We are staying in a cabin for a few days on the beach. Does anyone have any ideas?

Answer
Yes..

1. Stargazing. Check out all the stars and constellations. Since you are away from the city lights, the view can be amazing.

2. Plant and Wildlife Identification. Go looking for leaves, berries, tracks, scat, dens, burrows, etc. Learn what things live in your camping area and be able to identify them.

3. Hiking. Go for a walk and see nature in action. Let the kid inside you come out as you explore areas you have never been. The kids will love the adventure of it and it is great exercise.

4. Start fires without matches. Use flint and steel or use a hand or bow drill. You can make a game of this to test your survival skills against others.

5. Go fishing or hunting. These are camping basics and quite a lot of fun.

6. Practice Knife and Hatchet Throwing. All you need is a target and you are ready for action. I will tell you from experience that hatchet throwing is much easier.

7. Tell Ghost Stories and Adventure Stories around the campfire. Some of my best memories as a kid were hearing these types of stories from my father and other adults. Give your kids this same experience by learning a few good stories.

8. Orienteering with map and compass or GPS. Set a course to find a location on the map. With the invention of the GPS, this normally mundane activity is now exciting.

9. Geocaching. This popular treasure hunting game uses a GPS device to find hidden treasures in the field. You can adapt your campsite for this very same function by hiding some objects in the area and allow for family and friends to go hunt for them.

10. Birdwatching. Being away from the city, you have the opportunity to see a number of different types of birds that you would otherwise not be able to appreciate or follow. Here, is a chance to see them in their natural habitat.

11. Watch Animals. Make a blind and stay down wind from the animals. If it is early morning or late in the day, you are likely to see a number of animals come down for a drink.

12. Build a Lean-To or some other man-made shelter. This is a great idea if you are camping with a number of people. A lot of team work will go into building this structure and there is always a lot of satisfaction out of building something with your bare hands. Why not let your camping group share in this experience.

13. Learn different types of knots and try them out. You can do this for fun to show off to friends or you can make it practical by using the knots to help with your camping. For example, create a rope that will hold up your water bucket from a tree.

14. Build a water still. This is another survival technique which gives you a chance to see if you could really survive using this method. Give it try as it is something you can set-up, go do other things and then, check back later to see how you did.

15. Create snares and traps. This works much like a water still would in that you set it up and check on it later. Just be sure to let all the people in your party know where they are and be sure to take them down when you will be leaving.

16. Glow sticks for the kids. Bring along glow sticks for the little kids to play with at night. Kids love these things and will make their own games with them.

17. Woodcarving. This grandfather favorite can also be a hit with kids. It allows them to be creative in what they might design and teaches them patience. Plus, the only tools that are needed are wood and a pocket knife.

im planning out a sleepover for my 14th birthday. its in january, there will be about 5-7 friends.... any activity ideas?

Answer
Ideas for sleepover party
Throw an indoor camping party
Set up tents and sleeping bags inside the house, make microwave s'mores.
Have a Glam Girl party
Set up the living room like a salon, where the girls can give each other pedicures, manicures and hair styling. To ensure safety, stick with nail-filing, nail polish, braiding, brushing and hair ornaments. You can also rent or even find in your closet) some dress-up clothes for the girls to wear. Wigs and glasses.
Get crafty
Autographed Pillowcases â Give each guest a white pillowcase and have everyone sign or draw pictures on them, using fabric markers or paints. Be sure to insert a piece of cardboard into each case so the markers/paint don't bleed through.
Friendship Books â Have guests make mini scrapbooks with pages crafted from fun questions or projects â things like "Draw your favorite outfit," "What's your favorite food?," or âOn my best day, I would...â.
Make ice cream sundaes(or coca for cold nights), play games, and tell stories.
Make it a Movie Night
New Classics â Sky High, Cheaper by the Dozen, Holes, Hoodwinked, Chicken Little, The Incredibles, The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter & and the Sorcerer's Stone/Chamber of Secrets/Prisoner of Azkaban.
Just for Girls â High School musical, The Princess Diaries I and II, Raise Your Voice, Ice Princess, The Lizzie Maguire Movie, Ella Enchanted.
Rise and shine.
Funny Face Bagels â Cut bagels in half and toast them, if desired. Slather cream cheese or peanut butter (accounting for peanut allergies) on the bagels for a base, then let guests make funny faces using shredded cheese for hair, sliced sausage links for eyes, strawberry jelly for a mouth, and dried cherries for noses.
Smiley-Face Pancakes â Use canned whipped cream, chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, blueberries, halved strawberries, diced bananas, dried fruit, or other edibles to make eyes, a nose, mouth, hair, etc., on the pancakes. Get creative!
Restaurant-Style Breakfast
Waffle Bar â Set up a waffle bar with a selection of syrups and toppings such as cherries, whipped cream, strawberries, chocolate chips, nuts, etc. Let everyone make their own waffles. Have fun with it!

I am planning a 13 teen year old birthday party and I need some ideas ASAP!!!!?

about 6 friends, fairly large house, we are on a budget, It has to be a sleepover!!!

Answer
Throw an indoor camping party
Set up tents and sleeping bags inside the house, and let the kids make microwave s'mores (assemble in this order: 1/2 graham cracker, chocolate bar, marshmallow, 1/2 graham cracker; microwave for about 45 seconds on a microwaveable dish). Tell scary -- but not TOO scary! -- stories, and put fake bugs in their sleeping bags. "Boys love that," says Singer, mom to two boys.

Have a Glam Girl party
Set up the living room like a salon, where the girls can give each other pedicures, manicures and hair styling. To ensure safety, stick with nail-filing, nail polish, braiding, brushing and hair ornaments. No hair-cutting allowed! You can also rent (or even find in your closet) some dress-up clothes for the girls to wear. Wigs and glasses can be a hoot too. Take plenty of pictures to distribute after the party or to put in a scrapbook as a keepsake. If youâre looking for supplies, check out the Slumber Party at Birthday in a Box.

Get crafty
Craft projects are a great way to fill time, and they also give guests something to take home. Try these easy ideas:

Autographed Pillowcases â Give each guest a white pillowcase and have everyone sign or draw pictures on them, using fabric markers or paints. Be sure to insert a piece of cardboard into each case so the markers/paint don't bleed through.
Friendship Books â Have guests make mini scrapbooks with pages crafted from fun questions or projects â things like "Draw your favorite outfit," "What's your favorite food?," or âOn my best day, I would...â.
Plus, for over 1000 craft activities, visit Kaboose crafts.

Have a "Sorta" sleepover party
The perfect solution for little ones too young to stay all night. Guests arrive in pajamas with their pillows at dinnertime, but leave by 11 p.m. Make ice cream sundaes, play games, and tell stories. The best part? "The kids are gone early enough so that you get a full night's sleep," says Singer.

Note that even if you decide to do the full night, itâs a good idea to keep it short. Get details in our Sleepover Party Tips.

Make it a Movie Night
Have the kids make a "box office" and "concession stand" out of cardboard boxes, then give them Monopoly money to buy tickets and snacks. Set up lawn chairs or beanbag chairs where the kids can watch movies â but none that are too scary! Some good bets:

Old Classics â The Love Bug, Swiss Family Robinson, The Absent-Minded Professor, The Shaggy Dog, The Apple Dumpling Gang.
Just for Boys â Star Wars: Clone Wars (Vols. 1 and 2), Justice League Unlimited: Saving the World, Batman: The Animated Series, The Iron Giant, Bionicle 3: Web of Shadows.

Play some old-fashioned games
Try these ideas from Laurie Wrigley, vice president of www.birthdayinabox.com and mother of three children â or, as she puts it, "hostess of more than 50 sleepovers!"

Name That Tune â An adult or child plays popular songs on a CD Player. The first person to guess the title of the song after it starts gets a small prize. Or, the person who guesses the most songs correctly gets a bigger prize at the end of the game. Anyone who also guesses the artist gets an extra point.
Telephone â Everyone sits in a circle. The host starts by thinking up a goofy line, such as, "Purple cows sit in the pasture eating grass and making grape-flavored milk." He/she whispers this line in the ear of the person sitting to their left, until it's gone around the whole circle, ending with the last person saying what they "think" they heard.
Ghost in the Graveyard â Played outside after it gets dark (if it's a safe neighborhood). One person is the "Ghost" and stands at "Home Base". She/he counts out loud, "One o'clock, two o'clock," etc., up to "12 o'clock," while everyone else runs and hides. The Ghost then looks for people, and if he/she spots someone, that person can try and run back to Home Base and be safe from being tagged. Whoever spots the Ghost coming can yell, "Ghost in the graveyard! Run, run, run!" to warn others. If the Ghost tags someone while he/she is running back to Home Base, then that person becomes the Ghost.
Scavenger Hunts â For an inside hunt, create a list of famous people or cleverâbut not too clever! --current events references and have guests try to find them in a stack of magazines or newspapers. For an outside hunt, send kids looking for things found in nature, such as a leaf or flower. Or stir their creativity by having them find items that begin with S or are made out of wood.
Rise and shine.
Breakfast doesn't have to be complicated to be fun! A few ideas from Laurie Wrigley to get kids up and at 'em:

Restaurant-Style Breakfast â Let the kids decide who will help cook, wait tables, and clean up. Then have them create an actual menu, using standard breakfast foods such as pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, bagels, etc. The "waiters/waitresses" can take everyone's orders and pass them on to the "chefs" (wearing chef's hats and aprons, of course!), who will assist mom and/or dad in the cooking.
Waffle Bar â Set up a waffle bar with a selection of syrups and toppings such as cherries, whipped cream, strawberries, chocolate chips, nuts, etc. Let everyone make their own waffles. Have fun with it!

Where do i find really nice First Birthday Invitations?

tipsycherr

I need really amazing beautiful first birthday party invitations for my son. Can you recommend a really nice website?

Answer
You might consider creating real nice invitations is to go to CropMom.com at http://www.cropmom.com. Cropmom is a online digital scrapbooking, collage, card making site.

Upload your photos. Make your invitation using them. You can add your own text. There are thousands of graphics to choose from to create your invitation. The site has templates and kits. In fact they have two kits dedicated to babies; one "All about baby" and "Visit from the Stork". And you can mix and match from any of the thousands of graphics available for use on the site.

Then save it. Go to My CropMom and click on the layout. Then click the "share" link. It'll let you enter the email address of the recipient, and your screen-quality invitation will be sent via email for free.

For print-quality, you can purchase a JPEG file of your creation (it doesn't cost much for less than $2) and download it to your computer.

From here, you can either print your invitation at home. Or -have it at Walgreens, Costco, Shutterfly, or Snapfish.
