Where can I find a good turtle-themed party evite?

IBellaMoI

I'm having a birthday party and it's going to be turtle themed. I have all sorts of good turtle stuff for during the party, but now I really need a nice turtle themed invitation! I have only a few requirements- It needs to be free, it can't be something that involves any downloading, I have to be able to send it as an email, and it has to be able to somehow go to 6 people, though I'm okay with having to recreate it and send it to one person 6 different times if it means I'll get my evite.

Also, if anyone knows a store that currently has a t-shirt with a turtle on it that will fit a teenager, (even if it's huge I can wear a cami under it and tie it up with a hair tie in a cute way!) I would really appreciate it!
Also awkward turtles work even better than regular turtles because the turtle theme is based off of an inside joke involving the awkward turtles that my friends would randomly make with our hands!

Answer
Sounds like you are all set. Build a turtle invite email. Compose it like a webpage in ms word or something and then cut-n-paste into the email. You can practice by sending it to yourself to see that everything looks nice. You can also use the free tools(which you can find via google). I provided a link to one below(first link)

Building your own t-shirts is quick and easy now(assuming you can't find one with a turtle). See the links to some samples as well as a place to build your own.

Where do i find really nice First Birthday Invitations?

I need really amazing beautiful first birthday party invitations for my son. Can you recommend a really nice website?

Answer
You might consider creating real nice invitations is to go to CropMom.com at http://www.cropmom.com. Cropmom is a online digital scrapbooking, collage, card making site.

Upload your photos. Make your invitation using them. You can add your own text. There are thousands of graphics to choose from to create your invitation. The site has templates and kits. In fact they have two kits dedicated to babies; one "All about baby" and "Visit from the Stork". And you can mix and match from any of the thousands of graphics available for use on the site.

Then save it. Go to My CropMom and click on the layout. Then click the "share" link. It'll let you enter the email address of the recipient, and your screen-quality invitation will be sent via email for free.

For print-quality, you can purchase a JPEG file of your creation (it doesn't cost much for less than $2) and download it to your computer.

From here, you can either print your invitation at home. Or -have it at Walgreens, Costco, Shutterfly, or Snapfish.

What are some good websites to order invitations from?

I am throwing an 80's themed (30th) birthday party for my sister-in-law. I need some ideas for the party.. as well as a list of clothing for men and women to wear. I would like to add on the invitation that women will not be allowed without wearing ____ and _____ and men will not be allowed without _____.
Ideas please! :-)

Answer
You could give out little mini gift-bags at the end with Rubix Cubes in, and a pair of fake Ray-Ban sunglasses, and Bubble Tape in etc. They were big back then :)

For music- Prince, Michael Jackson, U2, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Queen- they were all big then :)

You could have costumes like people have to dress like a celebrity or rockstar or singer or actor from the 80's. Michael Jackson and Madonna influenced a lot of style then.

Fashion- Big hair, Converse shoes, button down collars, shoulder pads, play-suits, casual t-shirt under a suit, huge crucifix jewellery, studs, tulle skirts, acid washed jeans, green red and yellow, headscarves, gold jewellery, denim jackets, ripped jeans,- in America, preppy style was begining to come into fashion with sweater sets, and polo shirts by designers like Ralph Lauren.

For food and drinks- apple Kool-aid, Banana split ice-cream, Sherbert, Ben & Jerrys ice cream, Candy necklaces, chilli-dogs, diet coke, fanta, frozen yogurt, fudge cookies, gummi bears, Hubba Bubba bubblegum, Mars Bars, McDonalds.
:)

Sounds fun, have a good time! :)

Good idea's for a 50th birthday that is 80's themed?

A

Me and my dad are having a 50th birthday and we're possibly going to have an 80's theme. What cool ideas do you guys have? Music? Clothes? (What should my mom wear and what would be some other cool ideas?), other 80's theme ideas?
Yeah, I guess it falls in to a more late 70's, early 80's theme. She graduated in '80.

Answer
Well, firstly, why are you doing an 80's party and not a 70's? If this person is turning 50 they are more likely to identify with the 70's, although I do love the 80's.

I would totally do 70's, if you don't mind me suggesting so and here are some ideas:

Make sure to include on the invitations that it is a dress-up-70's party.

I would go to Thrift stores and find really wide bell bottom pants and tube top or long sleeved shirt with vest OR mini dress with White GoGo Boots.

**If you want that list of answers to that Trivia Quiz, make another question on here that says, HEY FELIN!

Definitely feathered hair for gals. Big afros or longer feathered for men with cool metal rimmed sunglasses. Guys also often wore a long sleeve shirt with long pointy collar and left it halfway unbuttoned. Platform shoes for sure for both genders.

Decorations that would be fun:

Lava lamps

Get or make a huge Disco Ball to put up on middle of ceiling in the room where you'll be playing music/dancing. Gotta get a Top Songs of 70's cd and play it all night.

Maybe get poster(s) of Saturday Night Fever and also the original Grease with John Travolta

Also a must is a Farrah Fawcett poster from that era.

Rocky Horror Picture show Poster

The plain yellow happy face was big then too.

Beaded curtains

Throw some old funky rugs over couches

Crushed black velvet pictures. ha!

Here are some songs that your person in particular would remember for sure, for sure according to when he/she graduated High School which I am assuming was about 1979 (You could play trivia and ask who sang this song?? â maybe have the song keyed up online and play just a few bars of it.):

1.Heart Of Glass - Blondie
2.My Sharona - The Knack
3.Just When I Needed You Most - Randy Van Warmer
4.Escape (The Pina Colada Song) - Rupert Holmes
5.I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor
6.Y. M. C. A. - Village People
7.Sad Eyes - Robert John
8.Fire - Pointer Sisters
9.Ring My Bell - Anita Ward
10.Devil Went Down To Georgia - Charlie Daniels
11.We Are The Champions - Queen
12.Hot Child In The City - Nick Gilder
13.It's A Heartache - Bonnie Tyler
14.Take A Chance On Me - Abba
15.Baby Come Back - Player
16.Reminiscing - Little River Band
17.Lay Down Sally - Eric Clapton
18.If I Can't Have You - Yvonne Elliman
19.Kiss You All Over - Exile
20.I Go Crazy - Paul Davis
21.Boogie Nights - Heatwave
22.Undercover Angel - Alan O'Day
23.Rich Girl - Hall And Oates
24.I'm In You - Peter Frampton
25.Don't Leave Me This Way - Thelma Houston
26.You Make Me Feel Like Dancing - Leo Sayer
27.I'm Your Boogie Man - KC & The Sunshine Band
28.Got To Give It Up (part 1) - Marvin Gaye
29.Couldn't Get It Right - Climax Blues Band
30.Car Wash - Rose Royce
31.Don't Go Breaking My Heart - Elton John And Kiki Dee
32.Dream Weaver - Gary Wright
33.Love Machine (part 1) - The Miracles
34.Let Your Love Flow - The Bellamy Brothers
35.Play That Funky Music - Wild Cherry
36.Saturday Night - Bay City Rollers
37.Fooled Around And Fell In Love - Elvin Bishop
38.I'd Really Love To See You Tonight - England Dan, John Ford Coley
39.All By Myself - Eric Carmen
40.S. W. A. T. (theme) - Rhythm Heritage

Even though it has more Disco on it than, perhaps the above listed songs, I think it'd be better for dancing music if you guys are going to dance:

Food for Party:

Fondue was all the rage during the 70âs. Do a fun fondue party. Will have to call around and borrow a bunch of fondue pots. You'll love it!

Or do all Casseroles.

Games:

Have a disco style dance-off and play some of the favorites from the 70âs. or "Name that tune!"

Play Twister

I have all of the answers to this Trivia game if you want them, then you can pick and choose the ones you want to play a game with. That would be alot of fun for people.

Wow, what fun! I want to throw one now!

How to make kids party photo invitations?

qorqeousz

I was wondering what kind of software/tools would I need to get to be able to make mainly kid's birthday party invitations. I would like to be able to incorporate characters... and also the childs picture wherever I want on the invitation. Would software would give me the ability to do so?

Answer
Adobe InDesign, It is basically the leading program for designing. Although, i have to worn you it is very expensive, and if you want to include photos then you might want to Adobe Photoshop, which is also expensive.

Although if your crafty and resourceful enough, you might be able to pull it off in Microsoft Word, It wouldn't be as well done if you did it in InDesign but it might be able to get a simple, basic, crude, ordinary design from it

What are some ideas for a twilight series birthday party???

vampireluv

my birthday is the day after the twilight movie comes out, so we will go and see the movie. after that, i have NO idea on what to do! any ideas???
i was thinking about games with the teams being team edward and team jacob, but i need help!!! please!!!

Answer
I actually had a Twilight birthday party this May. I'll tell you some of the things that we did:

-Instead of TPing someone, you can go FORKing and stick plastic FORKS in someone's yard

-You can get big 3 liter things of soda a print out lables like 'Blood Type A+' and such

-decorate your house like Alice did for Bella's B-day, Japanese paper lanterns, pink roses, Christmas lights

-have a trivia contest, each person can be a character from the book, and you can ask them trivia questions about their character. The winner gets a Twilight soundtrack either from the movie when it comes out or the one that Stephenie Meyer has on her website.

-have Twilight music playing in the background

- Watch Pride and Prejuduce (Twilight), Romeo and Juliet (New Moon), Wuthering Heights (Eclipse) and A Midsummers' Night Dream (Breaking Dawn)

-Serve cake on black plates with red napkins

-Compare the Twilight movie to the book after you have seen it

-If you are going to the midnight showing of the movie, then you can buy shirts for each one of your friends and make Twilight movie shirts to wear to the theater

-Eat apples for snacks

-have a fun debate over Edward and Jacob (GO EDWARD!!!)

-if you have a pool, then you can go 'cliff diving' and jump off a diving board or something

-your invitations can come in black envelopes and be on some really fancy red paper and say something like 'Alice Cullen cordially invites you to a celebratory party for vampireluvrs birthday. RSVP Edward Cullen 555-5555' you can even put a red ribbon or like an apple sticker on the invitations.

-you can bob for apples

-tape a piece of paper to everyone's back, making eveyone a different character. No one can see their own paper, and everyone goes around and asks about their character. the winner can get a prize

-play a temptation game by putting a piece of cake (a human) in front of everyone. The loser is the one that takes the first bit of cake.
-Make 'save the Olympic Wolf' posters that Bella throws away at Newtons

There are endless possibilities for party favors. Here are a few options:

-make and give away twilight t-shirts

-make a scrap book page like Bella does in New Moon. Include an empty space that says 'Edward Cullen'. for the rest of the page, put pictures of your friends and you at the party.

-give away paper back copies of Twilight (that might be a little pricey)

Hope that I helped! Contact me if you need any more suggestions!

What are some fun, authentic elements I can include in a Japanese birthday party?

KH

My daughter is turning 9 this year and will be having a few of her friends in a party room at a hibachi restaurant. While it is my understanding that hibachi grills are mostly an American invention, I would like to incorporated truly Japanese qualities into the rest of the party.

We are starting with origami invitations. I thought about making CDs of Japanese music as favors but I am completely unversed in popular Japanese artists and/or not sure what songs would be good for this crowd.

Any other ideas? Remember these are third grade girls and cheap solutions are always great for Mom!

Answer
The Japanese do not have birthday parties like we do in the West. Parents simply take the birthday boy/girl somewhere fun they like to go or to a restaurant. 3rd graders are not quite ready for pop music so the music part of it is hard. If they were middle schoolers, I would have many suggestions on what groups are currently popular, but 3rd graders would probably be better off with music from anime soundtracks. Some major CD/book/video stores even have an anime section. Find out what anime/cartoons your daughter likes and look for the soundtrack of that and other related shows. Apple's iTunes allows you to purchase songs $0.99 each. Even if you don't have an iPod, you can download their free software and burn CDs of your legally purchased tracks. They of course sell music from many Japanese artists.

I need help with finding party ideas? Anyone...?

Annika

Hey. My birthday is coming up soon... and I have about... ZERO clue of what I should do.. Help? I'm inviting about 17 people...
I thought about a disco. But then I don't know if people would think I'm making a cheap party?! Heeelp...Post ideas.. Thanks!!

Answer
Well, i'm a mom. I think my best tip is to combine your party with one of your childrenâs good friends. One party â two people. Not only does it make the work load easier but it makes everyoneâs party schedule easier too. I lost count of how many graduation party invitations my daughter received last year. Both of my girls had a party with one of their best friends and it was great. Tessa had to make out a schedule some days to make sure she could fit all the parties in and which ones were at which time.
Because there were two different groups of people we wanted to include in our party and they were both rather large groups of people we decided to host two different parties for Tessaâs graduation. One was a party for her high school friends, this was the joint party. The other party we had was for family, neighbors and church friends. It worked out great.
I love a themed party so I let Tessa and Rachel brainstorm theme ideas for their party. With a little help from me they decided on Sail Away since they would soon be sailing away to college. It was so much fun to plan around.
Since I have already blogged about the party I will just be linking to past posts where you can read more.
We started with the invitation and had a fun little photo shoot for the invite.

Fun ideas for a memorable graduation party
I am a big believer in invitations â the paper kind, not the email kind and not the Facebook event kind. I think an invitation really sets the stage for a party so of course we had a cute graduation party invitation.

The next step was the decorations. We of course went with a nautical look for our Sail Away Theme. It was about everything red, white and blue!

Cost was kept to a minimum and things were created out of cardboard, chalkboards, shipping palettes, balloons and things I already had. I did make a fun nautical colored pennant banner for the party.
No party would be complete without food. To keep costs down a bit we did not serve a full meal but no one went hungry. We had a mixture of sweet and savory with a fun selection of cupcakes and then several different appetizers. Go here for the complete menu for our graduation party.

The biggest hit of the evening was the Italian Soda Bar.

We also had a sâmore bar which was fun too.
The kids had a fun time just visiting, playing badminton, roasting marshmallows, making Italian sodas and taking photos at the photo booth.
For our second party, the one for church friends, family and neighbors we went with a Smart Cookie theme. I had seen the idea of a milk & cookie party on a blog and thought it would be a fun idea for a graduation party as well as fairly inexpensive. Since I was doing two parties I really tried to keep the costs down.
Of course there had to be another cute invitation.

We did this party on a Sunday evening and kept the menu simple â cookies and milk! With the help of a few friends we made over 400 cookies and had 100 guests. I think I had ten cookies left at the end of the evening. The favorite cookie of the evening was the Compost Cookie.
Chocolate milk was definitely the biggest hit. I set up a fun cookie bar in the kitchen and people loved it. Fortunately the weather was good and people had fun milling around in the garden visiting.

People loved drinking out of the little milk bottles with a straw!
I used the Starbucks Frappuccino bottles! They are perfect.
I used some of my vintage suitcases and other pieces for decoration so set up was easy. I found some fun graduation quotes to put on my chalkboards.
Both parties were so much fun and I had a blast planning them. Iâm kind of sad there wonât be any more high school graduation parties at my house.
But Iâve got two more college graduations to go and a law school graduation! Oh and then there is that wedding we are having this summerâ¦.
Are you planning a graduation party this year?

Ideas to throw a surprise 80's theme party for a 40 year old?

808baby

My husband is turning 40 in March and I want to throw him a surprise birthday party with a 80's theme. Any input for the planning process?

Answer
I actually have recently been helping a friend do this kind of party.. so here are some of my notes that I have that I sent her.. unfortunately not all of them have links to where I got the info.

Play movies from the 80s on TV, while also playing music from the 80s. have your guests come dressed from the 80s, or as their favorite 80s character.
Movies:
ET
Top Gun
Stand By Me
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Breakfast Club
Rain Man
Sixteen Candles
Pretty In Pink

For the invitations make sure you use some 80s speak.. "You're, like, totally invited" or "It'll be totally gnarly if you aren't there'." (got this idea from someone else)

Decorations:

Colors-Bright! Magenta, turquoise, lime green and anything fluorescent is great. Streamers, balloons and confetti in bright metallic is also good. Visit party supply stores and thrift stores to find games and toys that celebrate the 80s mood. Rubik's Cubes (you can find "new ones at discount stores), Connect Four, Cabbage Patch dolls, Garbage Pail kids bubblegum cards, Care Bears, Smurfs, you know the drill. Pull out the old Atari 2600 and fire it up! Everybody loves Pac Man! If you don't have your old Atari 2600, borrow your kid brothers Nintendo 64. There are some great arcade classics available at your local store. A working Simon (there are hand held varieties sold at discount stores) and Speak and Spell are always a blast too! Find your old, (or get them at a thrift store) scratched up vinyl albums and hang them from the ceiling with fishing line and tacks for added effect. Pick up some movie and band posters from the 80's.

Cake:

Bake three 8x8 square cakes and stack them on top of each other with layers of frosting in between. Decorate with colored frostings in red, blue, green, yellow and white so that is looks like a Rubik's cube! Use black licorice frosting to define the edges of each "cube."

Or, if you are really lucky, you can score an old Strawberry Shortcake or Smurf cake pan on eBay and decorate it appropriately.

Snacks:

Every successful soiree must have snacks...here's some that will add to the fun.

Combos
Twizzlers (make your mouth happy...)
String Cheese
Rice Cakes
Fig Newtons (but in other favors like raspberry and strawberry)
Microwave Popcorn
Jelly Belly Jelly beans! (Ronnie's favorite!)
Jell-O Pudding Pops
Hot Pockets

Refreshments:

Nonalcoholic:
Tang
Coca-Cola
Capri Sun
Pepsi
Drink boxes
Fresca
Mountain Dew
Jolt Cola
Tab

Alcoholic:
Wine Coolers
Wine in a box
Rolling Rock

Goodie Bags:

Fill with candies that any child of the 80s loves.

Pop Rocks
Big League Chew
Bubble Yum
Bottle Caps
Fruit roll-ups
Carmellos
Bottle Caps
Jolly Ranchers
Gummi Worms
Nerds
Reese's Pieces
Gummy Bears
Fun Dip
Perrier

Why not throw in a Rubik's cube? ->

Entertainment:
80's trivia would be an awesome game, you could google it and find lots of info.. Costume contest. This is a given. You could have a variety of categories from best look-a-like to worst and so on.

80's Trivia games. There are tons of them on the web. Make up your own lists and give away prizes like Cabbage Patch dolls, t-shirts with nifty sayings of the decade or little Rubik's cubes.

How about a lip-synch contest?

Ask guests to bring a photo of them from the 80's and tape them up. Have a contest to see who can guess the most right answers.

Play 80's movies on a television, or on multiple sets. If you have the time and inclination you could make a compilation of your favorite scenes from 80's flicks.

Pin up poster boards and ask guests to contribute their best, worst and funniest experiences of the 80's. (e.g. What was your wost hair day? Who was your favorite Pop group and why?)

have prizes... like stupid things from the 80s..

If you are going with elegant you need to have a seperate RSVP card with postage on the envelope. It is tacky to put your number on the invite. Otherwise the wording for the invite sounds beautiful. Have fun!

Does anyone have any great ideas?

My daughter is turning 7 and wants a horse themed party. I would like some ideas on invitations, activities and gift bags.
I usually can figure this stuff out on my own but for some reason, this year, I am stumped!!
Would like really creative ideas of things I can make myself. Thanks!!

Answer
I found a couple of cute craft ideas.

You can buy a couple of these kits (or find something similar) and have them paint their own horses:

http://www.amazon.com/Balitono-PTW30-Wild-Horses/dp/B00000ISBL

And there was also this cute stamp set, which you could either use for the invitations and gift bags, to use in a craft project, or to give as a gift to your daughter:

http://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Horse-Stable-Stamp/dp/B000GKXXV2/ref=pd_sim_t_njs_img_1

I also found a horse piñata:

http://www.orientaltrading.com/application?namespace=browse&origin=searchMain.jsp&event=link.itemDetails&demandPrefix=12&sku=70/152&mode=Searching&erec=2&D=horse&Ntt=horse&Ntk=all&Dx=mode%252bmatchallpartial&Ntx=mode%252bmatchallpartial&N=0&sd=Brown+Horse+Pinata

Stickers for the treat bags:

Horse lollipops:

Balloons:

And a big wall hanging:

http://www.orientaltrading.com/application?namespace=browse&origin=searchMain.jsp&event=link.itemDetails&demandPrefix=12&sku=70/5089&mode=Searching&erec=10&D=horse&Ntt=horse&Ntk=all&Dx=mode%252bmatchallpartial&Ntx=mode%252bmatchallpartial&N=0&sd=Large+Brown+Horse+Jointed+Cut-Out

I want something very special and intimate.
She is my 3rd child and my 1st daughter and last child!
So I want to make this very special as for my 2 boys I had huge birthday parties the bounce house face painting ETC. And that is definitely not the route i want to go with her birthday.
This time I want something like a birthday dinner but where I am in DFW mid cities/Dallas area In Texas. I have bought her outfit and it is very vintage, comes with a huge headband with flowers and pearls. Please advice!

Answer
Celebrating your daughter's 1st birthday is very special! Like you, my youngest is a girl (only one) and she's definitely the princess in the house and love all things pink and purple. So I totally can understand why you want to make this extra special. Have you tried googling some restaurants in the area or go on www.yelp.com to read reviews on certain ones. I know there's a great article on www.babycachet.com on tips for celebrating 1st birthday. And there's a special section for 1st birthday invites http://www.babycachet.com/1st_Birthday_Invitations_s/248.htm - make your daughter's birthday extra special with a unique & beautiful card. Give your guests a hint of what to come :)

Hope some of these ideas help! Good luck and happy birthday to your precious daughter!

Parents: Should I include "no gifts necessary" on birthday invitation?

Shari

We're planning our 4 year old's birthday party at a bounce house facility. We really don't care whether people bring gifts or not but I think it's a little tacky to include any mention about gifts. If you received an invitation that has NO mention about gifts, would you assume the host is expecting one? I always bring but I don't want people to think we are expecting it. What do you think? Do we NEED to say "no gifts necessary?"

Answer
My rule is, no mention of gifts on the invitation...any invitation.

While it's become socially expected to bring gifts to various events (weddings, birthday parties, housewarming parties etc etc etc), it is NOT obligatory and the majority of people know this.

If they want to bring a gift, they will. If they don't, they won't. But whether or not to do so is completely up to them.

Does Anyone Have Any Ideas For A Cool&Sweet 17 Birthday Party?

Jesus Rock

I'm planning a 17th birthday party for my friend, and I have 100.00 spending limit! I want to plan a cheap but cool and hip party!! Does anyone have any ideas for games, snacks, themes, or decorations?

Answer
You can have a bbq with hamburgers and hot dogs. You can then set up an ice cream bar with vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream and some toppings. Sprinkles, whipped cream, a jar of cherries, and chocolate sauce. You can go to the dollar store and get the tall sundae glasses or just use wine glasses from your house.

You can do each other hair and nails. Manicures and pedicures. Ask your friends to bring their nail polishes and files and order out some pizza, and you can even do the ice cream still or bake a cake or some cupcakes and have your friends over for a spa night.

You can camp out in your back yard. Tell your friends to bring their sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, etc. Get some music, flashlights, etc, and have a night out in the yard.

You can also do a dinner party at your house. If you and your friends know how to cook, invite them over and cook dinner from appetizers to dessert and have a sit down dinner. Or ask your mom for help and cook with her and ask your friends over for a more formal sit down dinner. Make up place cards and a menu, and set the table formally and have a dinner party for you and your friends.

Have a taco bar. Make tacos with all the toppings for you and your friends, get a pinata, and rent some movies and hang out.

Have a girls night. Eat pizza, ice cream, junk food, chips, etc, and hang out. Rent some movies. Tell your friends to bring their pillows and blankets, and pjs, and have a lounge night with your friends. Doing what YOU want!

You can do an around the world dinner party. Tacos from Mexico, pizza from Italy, and so on and and have your friends over for an around the world birthday dinner.

I hope some of these ideas help. Happy Birthday!

You could check Etsy.com or Ebay.com. Someone there might have something you are looking for.

I also custom create invitations for birthdays, etc and would love to do something along those lines. I don't have anything at the moment with those on it, but I could certainly do one for you. Birthday party for anime/Japanese loving cousin... ideas?

Q. My cousin LOVES Japanese things. Any ideas for her party? What kind of decorations, presents, games, food, etc? Speaking of food is there actually such a website or something that has Japanese recipes?

Answer
Be Your favorite Anime character!!-party thingamajigger!
Submitted by Rep. Dragonblade
Party Type: Birthday
Invitation: On the outside, make it a normal envalope, and on the inside, have pictures of Anime/manga characters on the front. Make it so that whe the guest opens the invite, glitter comes out! Have all teh usual info, RSVP, phone #, time, place, date.... And THEN! tell them that in order to come to your party, they must assume the full role, with hair, costume, AND personality of an anime character of their choice!
Decor: Base it around your character. Example: you're being Malik Ishtar from Yu-Gi-Oh, you make everything egyptian-like, and dim all the house lights (if the house is where you choose to have it.). Or if you're being Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke, make everyting forest-like, or you could go for the look of 'Iron Town"....
Food: Normal food, I guess, unless your character has anything "special" planned for the guests {ie, if you're being Giovanni from pokemon....well, you get my drift}
music: No music really, unless it goes with the scene.
Highlight: Keep your character role througout the WHOLE party!Even during presents! HA! {"Mind slave! why did you get me a ___?!"} No changing! Whatever your character would do, you do! Funny if your character is of the opposite gender! ^_^ Also, a parent culd also be a character related to yours and could head some games or activitites. Maybe some "home movies" videos or DVDs of the anime that your character is from! (more on games if you E-Mail me! UnkieMewtwo@aol.com)

How to Throw an Anime Party
So, you want to meet some anime fans around the area but don't want to go to a convention. How about throwing an anime party? At least it'll be cheaper.

[edit] StepsAdvertise the party. Put up flyers in your school (if it's allowed) and around your area. Get some friends to help.
Order or make food depending on how many people you think you'll have. Make some food that would go with a Japanese theme like sushi. Try also to make some foods based on anime like One Piece or Pokemon.
Pick some good anime games. Try BeyBlades, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, or other card games. For video games try (English versions of) Naruto or Zatch Bell. Play role-playing games like Final Fantasy or other series. Another option is, if you have a PS2, rent or buy Dance Dance Revolution.
Watch Anime. If you have something like a projector attach it to a DVD player or computer to watch some of your favorite shows.
Have contests with the games and give away prizes based on the show it's based on.
Have goodie bags. They could have little keychains, cards, or any other little anime toy. And, of course, candy.
Make sure to include music in the party. It could be regular music or anime music. It's your choice.

[edit] TipsHave some of your guests come in costume. It might feel like an anime convention.
Make sure the party is on a weekend or during a vacation to ensure a good turnout.
Make sure your parents know about it or you'll get in trouble.

[edit] WarningsThis might cost a little less than anime conventions, but the prizes might be a little expensive.

How do I deal with a friend who is developing a crush because I gave gifts for her birthday?

birthday party invitation reply

birthday party invitation reply image

sugar1973

And is it too much to give a friend of a couple years a bday gift? I've had some male friends think this way. I used to think I gave gifts early into a relationship. Maybe I was looking to please people. But I have changed--I'm generous but I'm not attached to what I give to people. It's usually for birthdays. Recently a female friend started crushing on me (I'm straight), and thinks because I gave her birthday gifts--simple ones, like wine, candles, soap--that I must like her. Are these people who aren't used to getting gifts misconstruing that gesture as "love interest"? I am a generous person. A lot of my friends don't even bring gifts to bday parties. Should I just stick to giving a card to avoid needy people like this? Even my birthday card, this girl was hanging on to my every word. It was pretty generic what I wrote and I wrote "Love, (my name)".
She admitted she has a crush on me. Her behavior made me uncomfortable. I tried not seeing her for a while to diffuse her feelings, but I felt I had to at least attend her bday party. I gave a card and mentioned I bought a gift but I forgot it in the car. The rest of the evening was uncomfortable because her feelings started acting up again.

Answer
I agree with June. How do you know she has a crush on you?

Whether she has a crush on you or simply likes you as a friend, you need to be aware that it is perfectly normal for people to think you like them if you give them birthday gifts.

It is not "needy" to want to be friends with someone who has given a gift because gifts show friendship. You may not see gifts this way, but pretty much everyone else does.

In answer to your question, I wouldn't even give a card in future if you don't want to be friends with a person.

Finally, if it turns out this woman DOES have a crush on you, then be compassionate. Say you're straight. Don't make a big deal out of it. Step back--at least temporarily--to give her an opportunity to get over her feelings. Good luck.

*******
Reply:
Now I understand...

Well, you did nothing wrong by going to the party. It isn't the gift that is the problem here. It is that she is not over her crush on you. So I'd step back again.

This kind of thing is annoying and difficult to handle. Although I believe in being compassionate and relaxed when dealing with unwanted crushes, I also think that she crossed a line if she approached you while knowing that you're straight. I'm not saying she is crazy or that you should worry... Just that she may have trouble with boundaries and you should take extra care.

I would avoid doing anything that could be construed by her as a sign that you return her feelings. Don't accept her invitations to anything. If you do find yourself at an event that she's at, focus on other people. Not to be mean, but to avoid giving her any hope.

If she approaches you again, say briefly (so the message gets through) and calmly, "I'm straight. I'm sorry, but I'm not interested."

Let's hope she meets someone else soon. If any of her friends already know about this situation (don't tell anyone if they don't know because this might humiliate her), encourage them to take her out to meet other people.

How long does it usually take for parents to RSVP for your child's birthday?

Q. My son is turning 6 and this is the first time I have invited his whole class to his birthday. I don't expect for everyone to come but I gave the invitations out to 28 kids over 3 days ago and have not got one reply. They still have 5 days to RSVP so I was just wondering what other parents experience is with how long it takes. Thank you:)

Answer
It depends. My little brother had a slumber party, but we didn't get any RSVPs until the very night before it.Some people didn't even bother to :pSince there's five days until, you probably won't get any RSVPs for one or two more days.

Any ideas for a 70th Birthday party theme?

birthday party invitations golf
on Birthday Party Invitations - Golf Party Invitations
birthday party invitations golf image

striped32

My father-in-law will turn 70 next month. He knows that we are planning a party (he overheard a phone call), a surprise party won't work. We'd like to have some kind of fun theme, but we're at a loss. He's retired, likes golf and reading. Not many ideas come out of that. He's a great guy, likes jokes, cake, but no alcohol. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Answer
Why not do a golf theme? That would be fun and appropriate!

Set up a miniature golf game in the backyard, and have everyone keep score for prizes.

Set up the table with some artificial grass turf as the table runner. Glue some name cards onto golf tees...or golf balls with names written on them. Use the golf balls for various games, for example, put a red dot of nailpolish on one ball for a prize.

Hang a banner that says, "Old Golfers Never Die...They just lose their drive/get new balls/whatever."

Send out invitations that look like golf score cards and be sure to list their "tee times."

As for food, anything goes with this theme. You could come up with themed foods or non-alcoholic drinks that represent famous golfers and their personalities. Depends on how much time you want to spend on this.

Have fun! :)

Im having a birthday party I have no idea what i should do. Imma teens so i want it to be hot but fun. ideas?

marie m

This party it for me and my friends birthday. Were both teenagers so we want it to be a fun party but also a teeny kinda party.

Answer
Not sure if it's all girls, but those suggestions are kinda for the chattery among us (yes, us girls):

For me at that age (17 now) I just wanted to have fun and chat all night. So we didn't really have anything planned, we were just gonna go with the flow, see what would happen. We put mattresses in the living room, hired some movies and we'd see what we'd do. The only thing that I really had planned was the food. I always like doing something special in that area, like, for example: to gourmet (I'm not sure if that's the word in English (I'm Dutch)), which is where there's a big heating plate on the table and everyone's got it's own little pan to cook. Chocolate Fondue is also real fun to do together, a big pan full with chocolate fondue (http://www.lhj.com/home/Chocolate-Fondue... and then all kinds of fruits, cookies and cake to dip in it. Or to bake pancakes together or for everyone to create it's own pizza. Or to create your own desert with buckets of icecream, fruits, sauces, whipped cream etcetera etcetera. Although this may be a bit more cheezy and young then mature. (I still like it tho)

Also what always will be fun: bowling, miniature golf, swimming, giving each other beauty masks and makeovers and all the other cheesy, cliche girly stuff.

If you're not having a sleepover, just a fancy dinner party is so much fun as well, especially when you all prepare it together! With the whole invitation thing and fancy dress code, even tho you might not be that fancy at all!

PS: at my party: we ended up watching all the movies rented, making a walk through the forest at 2AM, having huge english breakfast and having chocolate fondue and pizza for dinner.

What are your best tips/meals for cooking while camping?

cupajoe

My family has gone camping once (2yrs ago) and it was fun, but I found that I was not nearly organized as I thought I would be when it came to cooking meals. We tried packing lunches when we were out and about sightseeing and such, but everyone was so sick of cold cuts/sandwiches and chips...Dinners were a nightmare and breakfast a pain. We are taking another trip this summer and again we plan to camp. I hope to be better prepared this time around. Do you have any tips or meal/snack ideas for me? Thanks.

Answer
Great camp meals are one of the big items folks remember and it takes one with a heart of service and a desire to do all the planning and prep to make it happen your asking here shows you have that gift.

To start the more you can prep at home the easier it is to put a meal together in the field. Any meats you bring always taste better when marinated and that's something you can start the process at home specially for the first dinner where fresh is best.

Another big point is the less pots and pans you use the less dishes the more time you have to enjoy and no one likes KP duty on a camp out. So think of meals you can cook by using a camp fire and tin foil. Use quality thick tin foil and paper cups and quality plastic forks spoons knives. Have plenty of paper towels on hand.

Freeze everything ahead of time so food lasts longer in the cooler those marinated steaks can be frozen after they have been marinated for an hour or two and then you can have steak another day out. And your ice will last longer too.

Drinks are important because dehydration is always an issue and you actually stay warmer at night when you have been well hydrated. Sodas fill you up with empty calories and gas with out fully satisfying your thirst. So make sun tea and lemonade, Adults can have some wine with their meal, if you partake it helps to unwind in moderation, but drinking it in a paper cup is not so romantic so get the plastic wine glasses and bring some of those little umbrellas with a cherry too add to the cup to liven up the gathering, kids can have one in the tea or lemonade and still be entertained.

Theme parties for each dinner starts the fun and if you plan ahead and your group is informed ahead of time they can bring outfits or a funny hat that adds to the fun, of course Luau's are a common theme for camping as are cowboy and others be creative and have the kids do a skit for the dinner gathering. A real fun theme to do for a camp out is a murder mystery dinner!

I'm looking for something that's kind of generic because it's going to be for a birthday/housewarming party. I'm looking for a site that lets me edit the invite on their site and then save it, instead of saving a blank template and working on it through a text editor....
I found www.invitationland.com and that's pretty much what I'm looking for, but they don't have that wide of a selection. Any sites similar to it but with a wider selection?

Answer
maybe http://www.make-your-own-invitations.com.
they charge $15 to create a custom digital copy and then you can print it from your printer or even cheaper u can take to photo shop to print on to 6x4 matt photo paper.

I want to design an invitation card. What kind of software should I use?

My siblings and I are planning a surprise birthday party for our mother and I've been given the task to create the cards. All I have is photoshop CS6 and I'm wondering if there are other programs similar and simpler than this? What do you recommend best?

Answer
You can use any of the Microsoft Templates and the free OpenOffice to make your cards or this site is good:

HP Creative Studio for Home:: http://www.hp.com/hho/hp_create/?jumpid=re_r11400_us/en/hho/IPG/ipg20_cpt_int_fromprintstudiotopnav_

I am going to apply for jobs next month, but I only have a few jobs in mind. What are some jobs that most high school teenagers have? Dealing drugs is out of the question.

Answer
Here's a short list of jobs in the U.S., Canada and Europe which you can create to generate income:

1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item.

2. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour.

3. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour.

4. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel.

5. Visit your nearest beauty salon and ask to be trained as a shampoo person who is also willing to sweep up fallen hair on the ground and do set ups [arranging dye kits, curler holders, etc.] for a set hourly fee.

6. Become a sign flipper by contacting your nearest realtor. A flipper is someone who stands at a major intersection and flips a "For Lease/Rental" sign in order to attract visitors to an open house or to a particular real estate listing. The hourly pay is at least the minimum wage.

7. Why not become a paid feeder servicing the disabled at nearby nursing, convalescent, assisted living/care centers and hospitals. It involves feeding food to patients who are unable to feed themselves. The starting rate is $8.00 per hour. The only downside is that one has to take precautions to wash one's hands after each feeding. A posting of your services [by a business card or flyer] on a reviewable bulletin board would be enough to generate customers. The paid feeder position is one of the fastest growing occupation at this time.

Good luck!

Is it alright to host or throw you're own birthday party?

Growing up, I was told that it was kinda selfish and odd to throw you're on b-day party. This is going to be for my 21st and I was going to have a fiesta at a nice bar with a whole bunch of friends/ acquaintances.

Answer
When you were a child your parents would have thrown the party for you. As a teenager they still funded the parties, but you actually hosted them. As an adult it's perfectly fine to invite friends out to celebrate your birthday as long as you don't let on that you expect gifts. In fact you should probably specifically request "no gifts" if you send out invitations.
