I need a cute saying to put on the party invitation. Please help!

Answer
How about something like- "still down with the kids!" for your 40 year old, or "no grown ups allowed!"? Maybe something teasing about the fact that --- is turning 40, like "it's all downhill from here." or just the word "Help!" being as you have your hands full with a one and six year old.
Just a few ideas. :-)

do you have wording ideas for a pottery birthday party for a six year old ?

My son is having his 5th birthday party as a dinosaur party. We have several things planned such as a "dino dig" (dig in sand for toy dino), making our own volcano erupt and creating a cool dino fact book. I have all this planned but cant think of a creative way to word his invitations. He is inviting his whole Kindergarten class (some of which do not have the money to bring a gift) so i also wanted to include that gifts are not expected on the invites. Any ideas?

If you like movie, you can do a movie party for your 13th birthday. Pick your favorite movie and then create a party theme around that movie. You can design the invitation like movie ticket and decorate your party venue like theater room using red carpets, posters, and camera. If you don't like this idea check out http://www.birthday-ideas.com. This site will give you lots of birthday ideas. Good luck!

Just buy some of the stuff at http://astore.amazon.com/justinbiebermusic-20

- might be entitled for free shopping too

Posters, pins, tshirts, coin purses, CDs, and even autographed memorabilia
- these will be something that the guests can take back after the party (rather than the plates....)

Q. Oscar/Grammy's party~Wizard's party~A school life party~A safari themed party~if you have any more suggestions there welcome~also details for the party's will be great.

Answer
Well, you could:

Traditional Sleepover:
Have your choice of the amount of girls, maybe go out to eat, then rent some good movies, then gossip, maybe do your nails, or facials or something. or sneak out to teepee people, or play flashlight tag in the yard or park!

Cookout-
invite a huge group of people, and like "rent" a park or by a lake or something and have a huge cookout, set up volleyball nets, later play flashlight tag or hide n' seek, eat cake, open gifts, and maybe play some other games and just hang out

Hotel:
Rent a hotel room and have five friends or so stay there with you. way better if it has a pool. i did this one year and i had like 8 friends, we played in the pool, and in the lobby they had a mini arcade and mini golf thing we did,, and a workout room that we had fun in lol, and just hung out. One year my bff did it at a waterpark hotel, not a really expensive one, but it was pretty great. have lots of snack and order pizza!

For the more adventurous

Horses:
Maybe take a few friends and rent some horses and go trail riding! and have a picnic! or pay for a few of your friends and get lessons first! and fun new experience. horses are great. i have 2 of my own

Camping:
Take a few of your friends camping, go boating, or swimming, go exploring, make smores, have fun, even if its in your own backyard!

Going to a Bachelorette camping trip need some ideas for a gift?

Gotta luv

The party is a Camping, Canoeing trip for a day an a half. Any ideas on a cute unique gift i can giver her?

Answer
My new favorite thing to do for gifts is making your own themed gift basket. I like the idea of graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate, maybe some bug spray, a cute lantern, a first aid kit or survival guide something practical. Then throw in some fun items like a bottle of vodka, cute shot glasses maybe a solar powered radio so you guys can have a little party in the wilderness! It would be cute to put it all in a picnic basket..that way the couple can go on a romantic picnic when the wedding's over!

Sounds like a blast! Have fun!

Ok I am having a birthday Party and i want to make invitations so how can i do it on my computer where my pic can be on there to can you guys Please help me i need this by June 19

Answer
A quick, easy, and fun way to create your birthday invitations is to go to CropMom.com at http://www.cropmom.com. Cropmom is a online digital scrapbooking, collage, card making site.

Upload your photos. Make your invitation using them. You can add your own text. There are thousands of graphics to choose from to create your invitation. The site has templates and kits organized by theme or you can mix and match or be as creative as you want.

Then save it. Go to My CropMom and click on the layout. Then click the "share" link. It'll let you enter the email address of the recipient, and your screen-quality invitation will be sent via email for free.

For print-quality, you can purchase a JPEG file of your creation (it doesn't cost much) and download it to your computer.

From here, you can either print your invitations at home. Or -have them printed by Shutterfly or Snapfish or Costco, etc.

How do I plan my 16th birthday party?

Lilly Gonz

Hi, my birthday is October 12th and I have not celebrated my birthday since i was 4, so i don't know what goes into party planning. I decided on doing a Halloween theme since it is around that time and I can find things easily. I don't want to cost my foster mom very much money. I just need to know what else you need for a party. I have food, location, and invites covered; it will be at a park and my uncle is barbecuing. Also I invited about 20 people. All ideas are excepted, thank you for helping out. :)

Answer
A birthday is a day when a person celebrates the anniversary of his or her birth. Birthdays are celebrated in numerous cultures, often with a gift, party, or rite of passage. The celebration of a birthday usually is thought to mark how old a person is, traditionally stopping when death occurs and only stating that if still alive, they would have been (number of years) old. Some contemporary writers ignore this aspect, however, and keep counting the years since the date of birth of famous people, such as proclaiming that it is Shakespeare's "four hundredth birthday" instead of noting that it is the four hundredth anniversary of his birth.

Before The Party

1) Ensure that you register your party at the nearest police station using a special party registration form. This should be done at least two weeks before the party to give the police time to provide you with necessary information and party safe wristbands.

2) Allow only invited guests to your party. This discourages gatecrashes from attending your party.

3) Avoid using SMS, internet, online notice boards, e-mail distribution lists, social networking sites to advertise your party. If the word about the party has spread, you may have to change the venue or hire security guards.

4) Make sure that the starting and finishing time of the party is stated clearly on the invitation letter. Encourage your guests to organize for safe transport back home after the party.

5) Clearly state on the invitation letters that the party is alcohol free, or if it is necessary, it should be supplied. This will make it easier to regulate the amount of alcohol served.

6) Use the party safe identification wristbands from the police for easy identification of invited guests.

7) Inform the neighbours in advance about your party to reduce concerns about noise or parking later. Give them your contacts so that they can raise their concerns directly to you rather than police.

8) Keep your valuables in a safe place so that they cannot be broken, stolen, or damaged. Laptops, cameras, handbags, and mobile phones are among the most targeted property by thieves.

9) Ensure that you have access to a phone during the event. You should have emergency number to call in case of any problem. In addition, you should have taxi company numbers to assist your guests arrive home safely. Consider booking the taxi to avoid any inconveniences.

Birthday party ideas for a 16 year old girl?

Q. Does anyone have any good ideas for a 16th birthday party? I have a medical condition which limits my physical activity (my sports are limited to swimming only right now). I'd like to keep things affordable. Any ideas? Thanks!

Answer
For me at that age (17 now) I just wanted to have fun and chat all night. So we didn't really have anything planned, we were just gonna go with the flow, see what would happen. We put mattresses in the living room, hired some movies and we'd see what we'd do. The only thing that I really had planned was the food. I always like doing something special in that area, like, for example: to gourmet (I'm not sure if that's the word in English (I'm Dutch)), which is where there's a big heating plate on the table and everyone's got it's own little pan to cook. Chocolate Fondue is also real fun to do together, a big pan full with chocolate fondue (http://www.lhj.com/home/Chocolate-Fondue... and then all kinds of fruits, cookies and cake to dip in it. Or to bake pancakes together or for everyone to create it's own pizza. Or to create your own desert with buckets of icecream, fruits, sauces, whipped cream etcetera etcetera. Although this may be a bit more cheezy and young then mature. (I still like it tho)

Also what always will be fun: bowling, miniature golf, swimming, giving each other beauty masks and makeovers and all the other cheesy, cliche girly stuff.

If you're not having a sleepover, just a fancy dinner party is so much fun as well, especially when you all prepare it together! With the whole invitation thing and fancy dress code, even tho you might not be that fancy at all!

PS: at my party: we ended up watching all the movies rented, making a walk through the forest at 2AM, having huge english breakfast and having chocolate fondue and pizza for dinner.

I'm a girl, and I have a pretty tight budget, and absolutely no idea what to do for a birthday party in August. My group of friends usually likes doing things more than sitting around and relaxing. Problem is, last time I tried to throw a party which involved going to a water park, only 1 or 2 people actually paid the 15 dollars for themselves, and I had to pay the other 70 or so dollars out of my own pocket. Any ideas?
Please note that there is a TIGHT budget here.

Answer
The Formal Party
Since adulthood is veering around the corner, many kids this age will appreciate a birthday party that beckons upon this premise. Formal birthday parties are actually rather easily thrown. Create formal invitations that require an RSVP. A hired catering company that will provide a menu is also advised--this way you can even ask guests on the invitations what their menu choices will be. Most local hotels will offer smaller ballrooms that you can rent for a decent bargain. You can even set up tables with fancy drinks like sparkling cider and juices, which mimic a real cocktail bar. A hired band that performs songs all night or a DJ for dancing and some fancy decorations will net you a formal birthday party that your teenager won't soon forget.

Rock and Roll Birthday Party
Perhaps one of the more popular of birthday party ideas for teenagers is a rock and roll birthday. Your best bet is to find out if they have any friends who are in local bands that they really like. You can easily hire these local bands for pretty cheap and get them to play at your home in your backyard. Make sure that you acquire a live music permit from your local authorities so that your party does not get shut down.

Flashy rock themes include the birthday cake--you can even decorate a print-on cake with their favorite rock band on the frosting; all you need is a picture. Include free music download cards in your party teasers and create invitations that look like real concert tickets that you tear at the door as guests enter.

Video Game Themed Birthday Party
Most teenagers love video games--even girls these days are playing more and more video games. One of the more popular varieties of these video games are games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Set up a video game console in the living room and hold showdowns to see can rock out harder. Cool invitations can resemble game controllers and attendees can be encouraged to purchase video game-related gifts for the birthday kid. Offer a prize for the winner of a video game showdown.

What should the theme of my party be?

Ann S

I'm having a awesome birthday party at a giant water park resort and I'm making the invitations today. I want to make a good impression on the guests and so I want to have the best invitations ever. What should the theme be (i want it to be specific like flip flops) and extra party and invitation tips get you more chance at the 10 points! Oh and I'm turning 12 so if that helps... :)

Answer
The flip flop idea would be cool, you could sure do a lot with that. Or a beach ball or something. Make the invitations yourself, cut some card stock paper into the shape of a flip flop and use a ribbon to tie on the top part of it, then inside write out all the info of course!

As for party tips, try playing some kind of game involving flip flops! Like put everyone's flip flops into a pile and make each guest grab one that isn't theirs and they have to find the owner of the shoe but they can't ask who's shoe it is flat out, they have to ask other people other questions like "is it a boy or a girl's" "does she have red hair or dark hair" etc. till they find the answer. First one to find the owner wins a prize (a pair of flip flops!!!). Don't forget to serve a refreshing ice cream cake afterwards too!!! Sounds like a lot of fun, happy birthday!!!

Answer
Have it at your house. You can buy streamers and balloons at the dollar store for about a dollar or two. I dunno if Wal-Marts around your way do it but around here they give free cakes out for the first birthday. Get your ice cream from wal-mart also. I have noticed that anywhere I've went it has not beaten the price of Wal-Mart ice cream. Make your own drink at home or just buy a couple gallons of tea and a couple two liters of soda. Don't over do it with the invite list because then you'll have to many people to buy for just invite close friends and relatives. I hope I helped a little bit I'm planning a birthday party also my lil one will be one on the 18th (as you can see by my name) but his b-day party is on the 21st. So I know what your going through.

Good luck! And happy birthday to your little one.

Answer
â¢Food : usually junk food goes down the best at parties so chips, dips, pizza, (one of my friend had a bunch of Chinese food at her party and it was a hit they just took a bunch of orders when everyone got there then just placed a huge order. It was nice.)
â¢Beverages : a few examples of popular party drinks (under 21 I'm guessing) fruit punch, soda, lemonade, smoothies (especially chocolaty sort of smoothies but fruity ones are good too especially if your having cake).
â¢Decorations : if you having a theme party then your going to need to get decorations that match your theme but if you don't have theme then just get some festive decorations at the dollar star.
â¢Balloons
â¢Invitations: My friend always hand made hers and made each different. It was really cute and each one looked amazing (and I'm not just saying that because she is my friend).
â¢Cake: Some say the cake is the center of every party so be sure to get your favorite cake and frosting you can even draw out a design and have the cake people design it that way or make it yourself :-). Also a lot of people like ice cream with there cake if its a big party give them the choice between vanilla and chocolate.
â¢Gift Bags: They are always a nice parting gift. If you have a all girl party go for make-up etc if its all boy party go for candy of some sort (which will work for both girls and boys lol)
*Tableware: Silverware etc.
*Tables
*Chairs
*music: I know this sounds obvious but you have no idea how much great music makes a great party! Oh and tell your friends to bring their i pods if you have one of those stereo things that way all your friends will get a chance to play their faves.
*Games: Weather it be twister, board game (tend to be boring though), truth or dare, Chinese whisper, karaoke, video games (taking turns lol), etc they are always a big hit.
*Movie: Sometimes a movie can be the main thing of a party although most of the time you won't be watching the movie because there is so much talking going on but still its fun! You can go to the movie theater (but that can be expensive and a drag) or play an old favorite in your house.

-Sometimes people opp to have a party at a place like bowling, ice skating, rollerblading, etc. These are also fun just as long as you have a way of keeping everyone together in a public place.

-My friend (yes the one I keep mentioning) always have some sort of fight as one of the main events. For example one year she had a pie fight, they bough a pie a every one got a piece, went outside and started throwing it at each other. Another year we all took turns using the hoes and squirting everyone we could. You could always do a water balloon fight or something like that. But if you are going to do something like that make sure that you tell everyone that is going to participate to bring a change of clothes.

How would you let people know a birthday party is in the works, but not make your actual invitation yet?

momof3

I want to send a "basic headsup" party invitation to everyone letting them know there will be a party in November. But, mainly asking them to send any kind of picture they have of my husband to me to prepare for a video. But I dont want to send the ACTUAL invitation yet. How would you do it? What would you say?

Answer
Use email or, if you need to, a letter. Say something like, "Hi. Hope your summer is off to a good start! ... I am doing some planning ahead for a birthday party for <insert name here> in November. I want to do a video montage thing, so if you could send me a photo you have of <name>, I'd really appreciate it. If you mail me a photo, put your name on the back somewhere and I'll make sure to get it back to you. If you can email it to me, that's awesome too of course. I want you to know that I really appreciate your help in putting this together and I think the party will be fun. I need the photos by <insert date here> so that I'll have time to get the video put together (or to work with the videographer to get the video put together). I haven't decided when in November to schedule the party, but you are on my list to invite when I get the date and other details irone out. Again, I greatly appreciate it if you have photos of <name> to share and I'll follow up with an invitation you when I get things planned. Sincerely, <your name>"
You can change up wording of course - this is just the friendly request for photos for the video you are planning and a 'heads up' on the upcoming party. If you do know the date, then you can note it in the email or letter as a 'save the date' and note that you'll be sending out formal invitations ahead of the party.
Have fun!

My son's first birthday party is coming up, and I can't decide what time to have the party begin, and I need to send out the invitations soon. Some people say morning, or afternoon, some say dinner, and I just can't decide. The party will be on a Sunday. Thank you for your input :)

Answer
My little man just turned one on the 10th. We had his birthday party on the Sunday previous at 4:00 in the afternoon. That way it gave me plenty of time to get him a good nap, he normally sleeps a couple hours, and a chance to wake up. When people started arriving, he thought it was the best thing in the world because he had lunch, a nap, and his afternoon bottle. Plus this way, he ate some of his cake but not a ton due to being almost full anyway.

Another thing to think of is how much food you want to serve. If you have your party during a time where people normally are eating meals, you are expected to serve more of a meal, say sandwiches or such. We got away with ice cream, cake, and a relish tray consisting of veggies and meat/cheese with crackers. It was just enough to get people through until they got home to dinner.

Oh and keep it semi short. We were done by 5:30 and little man was ready for less people and stimulants. Remember that everything is new and exciting and they can easily turn into little tyrants if over stimulated.

Good luck and I hope it is a huge success!!

As a decoration you can try red carpet like sidewalk. Invitation ideas can also contain hollywood themes. For games one minute shows are best. Dresses can be fantasy like super man or a director costume.

Answer
I guess it depends on what he likes...laser tag, paint ball, air-soft, or a sports party would be cool.

If you want to have the party at home you could have a camp-out in the backyard. We did that for our son's 12th birthday and he still thinks that was the best party he's ever had. The ideas came from here: http://www.passion-for-parties.com/campout.html .

A scavenger hunt would be fun for pre-teens, or maybe even a "Survivor" type theme where they have to compete in challenges.

Good luck!

It's a Party!

And on the inside put the date, time, place, and anything else.

So i just made my own wedding invitations and I loved doing it. I bought the invitations at Walmart. I used my computer to write all the information on it and they came out perfect. I would really like to do this for others and not just wedding invitations. I would do birthday parties, weddings, baby shower, etc. Can anyone tell me how I go about doing this? Do you have to have a degree for this sort of thing???

HELPPPPPP?

Answer
You don't have to have a degree, but a knowledge of design and printing would be helpful. I've designed wedding invitations in the past and I use Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, which are professional design programs. The programs cost a lot of money so unless you're serious about design and have the money and time to learn how to use them, I wouldn't recommend it.

Actually, I'm a little confused on what your business consists of. Are you offering actual invitation designs or printing services? In the description you wrote, it sounds like you bought pre-designed invites from Walmart and then just set up the copy yourself. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not sure how lucrative that is since most people can do what you did themselves. Unless you're offering something unique, you may have some problems finding clients.

The best way to see whether or not your business idea will work, is to try it out. Try to get one client first and test the waters. Also, keep track of costs and how you plan on charging people. Would they go out and buy the paper or would you? Would you charge them strictly for the cost of supplies or up charge them for your travel time to pick up supplies? How much would you charge for printing? For design? I recommend outlining your services, your expenses, and figuring out what would be a fair price to charge people. It's a lot of logistics to figure out, but the better prepared you are the easier it will be to deal with situations that may arise.

You may want to design some fake invitations as well so that you have samples to show people what you're capable of.

Good luck!

Disney's camp rock themed birthday party?
my little cousin is turning 10 and we need some ideas on what to do for her party her theme is disney's camp rock we don't know what we should do for
the cake
goody bags
piniata
games
etc.
also her party is an overnight so i need quite a few activities.
thanks

Answer
Here are some idea's that I have;

-Order a cake in the shape of a music note, or order a sheet cake and have music notes drawn on it and have it say 'Welcome To Camp Rock!' on the cake.
-Buy a pinata in the shape of a music note or musical instrument.
-Why not throw a little music competition? Give each of the kids lyrics to a song to sing and then have 1 or 2 adults "judge" the performances. You can give out gold plastic medals for participation.
-For the goodie bags, why not put in musical-themed stationary and pencils? Oh! How about you make a little program booklet to put into each goodie bag of a list of the events/activities that will go on during the party?
-You could have a movie marathon of 2-3 musical-themed movies [Grease, High School Musical, etc..] and have "Movie Marathon" listed in the program booklet followed by the movies that are going to be watched.
-I agree with the trivia idea. You can ask questions about the Jonas Brothers, other bands/singers, musical instruments and stuff that is music-themed [like the movies or anything you can think of].

Well, those are just some idea's that I thought of.

Hope I Helped!

I hope your cousin has an awesome 10th birthday! ;]

P.S. Also, you could give out musical-themed prizes like High School Musical merchandise or little knick-knacks that say things like 'I Heart Singing' or 'I Heart Music' on them. You could also buy plain t-shirts and design a cool iron-on logo [a Camp Rock logo, or maybe a group picture of the kids] and put it on the shirt. You could have each individual child's name printed on the back of the shirt. You could give the shirts out before everyone leaves. You could do this with pillow cases or anything, as well. Or, maybe you could have a crafts activity and have each of the kids design their own musical-themed photo frame, pillow case or whatever.

P.P.S. Take some candid pictures of the kids throughout the party. You can buy little photo albums and give the albums with the pictures in them out as a gift before everyone goes home. It'd be a great way for the kids to always remember the party. You may need a digital camera and printer for this though, or a fast photo place near by like K-Mart or Wal-Mart or whatever you have.

P.P.P.S. I agree with watching the movie at the party if it airs prior to the time of the party. Record it on VHS or DVD [or have someone do it for you] if it airs before you have the party, so the kids can rewatch it.

P.P.P.P.S. Remember to just have fun. You don't need to do a lot of things just to have a good time. I'm sure the kids would be just as happy sitting in front of the TV, pigging out on pizza and junk food, singing along to songs from the movie. ;]

I am planning a fairytale/fantasy themed dance and need decorating ideas, any ideas?

I am planning it for a camp where kids go who have or have had cancer and one of the nights there is a dance, and the theme is fairytale/fantasy. The dance will be outside, and the kids age range is 6-12 years old. Any ideas would be very helpful!

Answer
Thousands of tiny white (Christmas) lights everywhere. Fairies made of poster board, floating in trees spot-lighted with uplights: the bodies can be painted soft colors, the wings even lighter colors, cover them heavily with matching-color glitter. Yards and yards of netting, gauze, other very sheer fabrics hanging down, backlit with tiny lights. White, slightly-twisted crepe paper swags between buildings, trees, any tall upright item (lamp-post, basketball hoop), along any fences, and add tiny lights if possible. Use glass blocks (like those for shower windows) as table centerpieces: decorate with white Christmas balls, wired ribbons, figures, fairy wings, and insert battery-operated loops of Christmas lights inside the glass blocks. I Googled "fairy party theme" and a lot of sites came up. They're almost uniformly geared toward younger children, but this one has lots of ideas that could work with older children: http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com/html/fairy.html It has ideas from moms who created fairy parties, including dragonflies, butterflies, costumes for the kids, and ideas that will appeal to boys: "Magical Forest Party" is good. "Enchanted Forest 8yr" has a wonderful idea for a story that keeps kids moving from place to place to "hear"/carry out the story, which should enchant even your 12 year olds. I didn't click on all of them, or on all of the sites (many of which are trying to sell party supplies but could still give you ideas), but there's a lot of ideas to be found. Hope everyone has a blast!

What are good themes for elementary dances?

Melody M

I am in charge of coming up with a theme for our kindegarden and 1st grade mommy-son dance. Last year we did 70s and each kid took home a tie dyed shirt. The year before they dressed western and ate BBQ and got a hat. I need a fresh idea that is relatively easy for parents to dress as, and inexpensive to put on. We have very limited time as a parent backed out and I took over at the last minute. 3 weeks!! We have a DJ, and we have food. I need decoration/costume ideas that young kids will be familiar with and adults will enjoy. Some ideas we have thrown around so far are:

pirates
superheroes
50's sock hop (i.e. Grease)
prehistoric (cavemen)

any thoughts or comments or other themes?
thanks

Answer
Hey, Theme dances are always a good time, I used to work at a summer camp for 5 years and we had at least one every session. Of the themes you listed I would go with ether the pirates or super heros. Sock hops just aren't fun for kids these days, they don't get them. Pre-historic could be fun, but you wont get very inventive costumes really. With Pirates or super heros, you can really get imaginative with a costume while keeping appropriate. Some themes that worked well for me that I have used have been beach party themes, Colorful theme (have them dress in their favorite/s colors and you can have odd colored food and such), and another popular one is like a movie theme, where you dress like your favorite actor or actress. That last one might not be great for the age group but its somthing to think about. Those are my thoughts on it, but from your list deffinatly pirtates or superheros.
