LOLeah

How many people did you invite to your LO's 1st birthday party and where did you get the invitations? Also, how much were they?

Answer
I got photo invitations made at the photo kiosk in the department store. I chose 2 cute photos, one the day he was born and another recent one, and then chose a template for a party invitation. I invited about 20 people, and had 25 invites made for $9.95.

I think they're so adorable and I want to make some cute invites for birthday invites and other events but don't want to purchase them want to create them myself. Hello, I recently began creating my own designs as well, just like the ones you showed here. I too sold on eBay and now have my own website where I sell them. The programs I use are Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Mostly Photoshop. It has kind of a steep learning curve but if you can put some time into learing it you can create almost anything. Paint Shop Pro is also a good cheaper alternative.

Birthday Party Invitations for my going to be 3 yr old Nephew?

Tanya L

Does anyone know of any good sites that I can either order or make and print birthday party invitations for my soon to be 3 year old nephew? He loves lawn mowers and vacuum cleaners. :) Anything along those lines would be cute. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Tanya!

You could check Etsy.com or Ebay.com. Someone there might have something you are looking for.

I also custom create invitations for birthdays, etc and would love to do something along those lines. I don't have anything at the moment with those on it, but I could certainly do one for you. If you'd like to see some samples, email me and I'd come up with some design for you. My email - jsbutrfli@gmail.com. You can also take a look at my websites to see my work. Links below!

Formal Birthday Party Invitations?

barso*re*m

i've decided what I wanna do for my b'day party....but the thing is...i want it to be a little more on the formal side...dresses, skirts, nice tops that sorta thing. Now how do I say that politely in my invitation?

Answer
you could be cool, and say something like:

"time to strut your stuff and be the prettiest you can be! come in mildly formal wear and be prepared for a nice time. no heels required, but skirts would be great! hope you can make it, it's gonna be a blast!"
and then include your information. if they have questions then include your number. i'm actually thinking about having a very similar party so feel free to email me. i'd love to get planning ideas from eachother!
have fun and happy birthday.

jackie

I'm having my 13th birthday party in about 3 weeks and I want to make homemade invitationss. any good ideas??

-has to be easy to make and has to be really really really cute :D-

Answer
A quick, easy, and fun way to create your party invitations is to go CropMom.com at http://www.cropmom.com. Cropmom is a online digital scrapbooking, collage, card making site.

Upload your photos. Make your invitation using them. You can add your own text. There are thousands of graphics to choose from to create your invitation. The site has graphic kits organized by themes. The tutorials should be helpful.

Then save it. Go to My CropMom and click on the layout. Then click the "share" link. It'll let you enter the email address of the recipient, and your screen-quality invitation will be sent via email for free.

For print-quality, you can purchase a JPEG file of your creation (it doesn't cost much-less than $2) and download it to your computer.

From here, you can either print your invitation at home. Or have them printed by a photofinisher.

Rhymes or sayings for a birthday party invitation?

Laura Ann

My daughter is turning two next month and I am trying to create a cute party invitation. I'm not very creative and need help coming up with a cute saying or rhyme to put on the invitation. If it helps, my daughter's name is lynleigh, she is turning two, its a pool party, and we will probably have a sesame street/elmo themed party! Thanks for any help!

Answer
My daughter is turning 2 in June and we put something very simple on her invitations: "We can't believe it's true, our little girl is turning 2." We ordered them off ebay and it has her picture along with the Backyardigans.

I noticed that you're having a sesame street theme. You could have invitations that say: "This party is brought to you by the letter L and the number 2."

Although there aren't many selections, you should check eBay. Under Home & Garden you will find "Party supplies" and then type in Wonder Woman. Right now there is a cake pan, balloons, cupcake rings, invitations, a mini pinata, and a cake topper.

14 year old girl birthday party ideas please?

Certified

Okay, so my birthday is in September, and I'm going to be turning fourteen. This year I'm going to invite both boys and girls (altogether there will be 9 people).
And after the boys go home all the girls are going to stay and have a sleepover.
For previous parties, I've done swimming, rock climbing, a movie, or just stuff at home. I want to do something really different and fun this year though-- any ideas?

Answer
Murder mystery (Including costumes and the whole party you could solve the mystery)
Camping
Laser Tag
Bowling
Gymnastics
Carnival theme (you could do this at your house and have family man the booths, you could include prizes)
Shaving cream fight/ water balloon fight

Games to play:

Murderer (4 players at least)-You write down murderer detective and victim(say theres 9 people there will be 7 "victims". Everyone picks a piece of paper (then close your eyes to start the game) and the murder taps on ppl and they "Die" If the murderer taps the detective they say 'detective is dead'. the murderer then plays dead and the detective asks if everyone is dead. Then the detectives asks who everyone thinks did it the murderer wins if they don't guess them.

Knots(4 people or more)- Stand in a circle. hold hands with someone u r not next to. now try to untangle the 'knot' you have created. WITHOUT letting go of any ones hand.
dark (4 or more people)- turn off the lights (or close your eyes) and hide. the person who is it tries to find everyone

Fruit Salad (4 or more players)- Set up chairs in a circle, (or put sticky notes in a circle and stand on them) If there ate nine people playing put 8 chairs. One person stands in the middle and assigns everyone a fruit. pick like 3 fruit types and assign everyone one of those 3. The person in the middle shouts a fruit, or shouts fruit salad (if they say fruit salad everyone scrambles around.) You have to sit in a different chair. whoever is not in a chair is out. You guys can decide who gets to shout fruit. It's kinda like musical chairs.

This is kind of like light as a feather stiff as a board. It would be a good idea to have about 7 people. Or any odd number really. Put one girl in a chair. Everyone uses two fingers from each hand to lift her. Then each girl (except the girl in the chair) You each put your hand over each others but don't let them touch, let them float above each others. You must do it one by one. Then from the top each remove your hand in order. Then try to lift the girl in the chair the same way. You'll practically send her flying!

3 year old girl birthday party ideas!!?

Diana

All my friends are coming and they all have kids but the oldest child is 8 years old. It'll be a mix of boys and girls. About 30 people total including adults and kids. I need some ideas about the location. No theme. Everyone is gonna come to my house first and then we'll all go together to the location. What is a good fun place to have this party?

No budget.
There's a place near my house called Play World sort of like Chuck-e-Cheese but less crowded. I'm thinking of having it there.

Answer

16th party ideas? need help choosing!? 10 pts!?

ABowlOfSun

So my sweet 16 is coming up soon! I have no idea whether i want a big party with a bunch of friends or a small party with some of my closest. I would like whatever i do to be kind of a sophisticated theme i guess, not too silly. Do you have any ideas? What did you do for yours? was it small or big??

Answer
Here are a few ideas! :)

Bonfire Party: Perfect for boys or girls, as long as you make plenty of hot dogs and s'mores to go around. Also, traditional teen party games are so much more fun when played outside.
Chocolate Party: From invitations written on candy bar wrappers to chocolate fondue, put the "sweet" in "Sweet 16" with an all-chocolate theme. Finish the night watching a chocolate-themed movie, such as the romantic "Chocolat" or the funny "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."
Mall Scavenger Hunt: Give each team a list of items at the mall, such as a free perfume sample, the name of a store with the letter "Y" or the cheapest item to buy at the toy store. After the hunt is over, treat everyone to ice cream sundaes and party favors.
Murder Mystery Party: Murder mystery party kits are inexpensive and provide a fun theme. The kit provides a script, characters and ideas for decorations. Guests are required to come dressed in character and work together to solve the crime.
Slightly More Expensive Ideas
Craft Party: A fun idea for a group of artistic teens is a craft party. Select a craft that everyone will enjoy, such as tie-dying for a Hippie -60s party, bracelet beading or candle making.
Desert Island Party: Base the party on a popular survival game show, with teams competing in relays and obstacle courses. Rather than eliminate teammates, simply award prizes to winning groups. Use a luau theme for decorations and menu ideas.
Extreme Birthday: Treat the teen and some friends to an awesome activity: bungee jumping, horseback riding, rock climbing, hot air balloons, paintball, laser tag or whatever else might be in your area. For safety's sake, always work with professionals, and don't try to lead these activities on your own.
Hollywood Night: Use the glamour days of Hollywood as inspiration for a movie-themed party. Rent an LCD projector and show the movie of your teen's choice on a plain white wall indoors or on a large white sheet on an outside wall in good weather. Just check with parents about the content of the movie first. Then, prepare plenty of popcorn.
Luxury Ideas
Amusement Park: Treat teens to a day at an amusement park or water park. Make it extra special by providing disposable cameras to everyone and collecting them at the end of the day.
Beach Party/Campout: Plan an overnight campout on the beach or up in the mountains. Make sure there are plenty of adults present, and take along some games, lots of campfire food and a few good spooky stories.
Pool Party: Rent out an indoor or outdoor pool for the ultimate pool party. Use a luau or under-the-sea theme for favors, food and decorations.
Rent a Theater or Dance Club: Treat a theater full of teens to a hot new movie or book an under-18 private dance party. Many businesses have special rates for parties and gatherings.
Spa Party: A group of girls will love this party idea. You can take them to a spa or hire a hairdresser, masseuse and manicurist to come to your home. Manicures, pedicures, makeup and hairstyling could be the all-day party that leads up to a nice restaurant dinner.

Ideas and themes for girls 13th birthday party?

Hiya

my daughter is turning 13! i need some inexpensive fun THEMES. unfortunatly it
issnowing where i live so i would like indoor activities please. it will be a sleepover and there will be 5 or 6 girls!! thankss

Answer
intertubing is very fun, you sit in a very big doughnut and slide down a hill! if you can ski or snow board or ice skate there are some sports! and everyone can sled so you can hold races and contests and such! snowballfight! also a nice treat to serve would be snow cones since ice is already prepared for you, it would be a beautiful food! stuff you can do indoors is play glowstick tag (a game played in complete darkness with its participants all holding glow sticks, the person who is it is forced to wear a pillow case over the head so they can barely see the glow of a glowstick. than the person is to tag a person with a glow stick and the game begins all over again), tag, makeover (you try your hardest to make the model your doing to make her look the ugliest, there is a judge and the person decides who wins), have a classic food fight (that'd be the funnest party! hold a paintball gun fight and of corse wear the correct gear to protect yourself from the blows! also a pellet gun battle would be fun too, less hurtful than a paintball gun. buy a fire pit and host a party with a camp theme. sleep in a tent outside in your backyard and roast marshmellows over your fire. also tell scary stories and draw on the faces of people who fall asleep before yourself, and the one who wakes up without anything written on their face in the morning gets a prize! go swimming! climb tree's! hold a scavenger hunt! rent a hotel room!Truth or dare(classic), prank calls!! Sp fun!
Would you rather-You ask someone would you rather example: Would you rather eat a snake alive or be in a cage with a lion?
Never have I ever(Yes it's from the lying game)-Everybody has a drink, any drink and you go around the circle and one person will say something that they haven't done like example:"Never have I ever cheated on anyone" and then whoever had cheated on someone would drink from there cup.

Pre-teen girl birthday party ideas?

Q. My neighbor's daughter is turning 12 in May, but has no idea what to do for her birthday party. She wanted to do a cake decor party, but a facility is unavailable. Any ideas?
My neighbors don't want anything messy, so no artsy projects please.
It's not that the mother doesn't want to hold the party at home, but she wishes for nothing messy.

Answer
She could have a luau in her backyard. You could rent a cotton candy machine, a bounce house, a water slide, etc. You could also have a face painting\tattoo station and have an ice cream sunday bar. Get hula skirts and other decorations. I had one of these a few years ago and everybody loved it:)

You could also have a camping party. Invite a few of her friends to stay the night after everybody else leaves. You could have smores and roast hot dogs over the fire. Set up a tent in the backyard for her and her friends to stay in. You could set up camping games to play too.

Fall Teen Birthday Party

Q. My Parents are deciding if i can have a limo pick up my friends and drop them off. But I have no clue what to do for my party. I have a couple ideas but u tell me if there good.

Shopping
If its not cold the lake
Movies or a movie at my house

and thats it Please Help my birthdays coming up !!!

Answer
Have a hawaiian style birthday party.

Invite about 20+ friends (i invited 30 and it was awesome) My invitations were like messages in a bottle (you can make them yourself or buy them from the site that will be listed below)

You should buy about two or three dozen leis (flower necklaces) and funny sunglasses. Have them there for when guests arrive. Take a group picture at the beginning.

I also bought a banner that you put your faces into take pictures and it was a hit! [most of this stuff can be bought from www.orientaltrading.com]

For drinks, you should have your mom or sibling make virgin blended drinks if you can find a good recipe (we made pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris). For food, you could get assorted fruits and make fruit-kabobs and also have some snacky things like chips. And of course, your cake, which could be any hawaiian design.

I had a dance floor made with a big tarp which i put sand on to make it seem like a beach and i had new music and a few hawaiian songs mixed in. So for entertainment I had dancing and also a little bit of a limbo contest. :)

I dont know if you have thte oppurtunity but this is optional. a firedancer, they juggle and dance with fire, it was very entertaining and the guests loved it.

by the way, it was for my fourteenth birthday and i had the party near a beach at a house with a big back lawn with a fire pit (make sure there is a fire pit for roasting marshmallows during the party too!)

some other locations you could have this at would be at a campground, or even in your back yard if you fancy it up enough! :)

well i hope you like this idea, it was very fun for me and my friends.

Activities For A Luau Birthday Party?

KK

Im having a luau birthday party and all I have for actities is Limbo....help

Answer
Issue invitations: When thinking of a birthday party celebration, the first thing that comes to our mind is invitations. Since the theme has already been decided on, sending out the party invitations in a truly Hawaiian style would be a good idea. You can send out a beach bottle invitation. Start by finding some clear water bottles and fill with a little sand and sea shells to give it a beach effect. Take a piece of bright blue color paper and write the party details on it. Then roll up the paper and place it inside the bottle. This will truly impress your guests.

Hang the decorations: To give your party a special Hawaiian effect, you can convert your party area into a tropical paradise. For a beach effect you can decorate with candles, luau lights, bamboo torches, and coconuts. If indoors, you can hang green and blue streamers from the ceiling to create a lagoon effect. You can also decorate the walls with palm trees that have been painted on poster board or cardboard and cut out. For the walls indoors, you can hang posters of tropical islands or travel posters. Drape fishnets over a fence outdoors or over the luau birthday party table to create a tropical look. You can also hang tiny shell necklaces around the yard or party room.

Find Hawaiian Party games: Games and activity play an important role in making your party a memorable event. For Hawaiian Luau birthday party you can go for

Dress Up Relay Game: For this game you will need to prepare 2 bowls filled with paper notes - one that has the names of the guests and other with the activity you want them to perform. Some examples of activities are âwiggle like a fishâ or âroar like a lionâ. The birthday child then gets to pick one name and one activity and then announce what the guest needs to perform. The best performer turns out to be a winner.
Imitate An Animal Game: For this game you will have to prepare male and female outfits ahead of time. Male outfits could include a shirt, hat, pants, shoes and a tie and the women outfits could include a blouse, skirt, hat, shoes, necklace and a purse. Then divide your guests into 2 teams and make them stand on different sides of the yard or party area. When the game starts, the first guest for each team needs to put on an outfit and run to the opposite side of the yard or party area. Then they have to take off their outfit and hand it to the next team member. The team which finishes first is the winner.

Create the party food: Good delicious Hawaiian food is a big hit at any luau birthday party. Snacks or appetizers of grilled satays or kebabs, fruit and veggies would work well. Another very festive idea is to serve Ice Cream at an Ice Cream bar. Preparing a luau cake is very easy and a great way to impress your guests. It starts with a rectangular cake of an flavor. Then cover half of the cake with white frosting tinted blue, so that it looks like a sea. Then cover the other half of the cake with white frosting and sprinkle a little brown sugar on top of it so that it looks like sand. Next, set Hawaiian toy dancers on the sand and have a tiny shark coming up out of the ocean.

sweet 16 party themes?

okay so me and my bestfriend are turning 16 this year and its not until december but we are planning now, we had an idea of a club theme but is there anything more extrodinary themes? we have lots of people on our guest list. and we are in vegas so where would be a good place to hold our party, something big and nice but not to pricy. Can someone give some really helpful links?
thankkk youuuu

Answer
Toga Party Theme: This birthday party idea is a great choice for the big bash that you are planning. From being dressed in simple bedsheets tied up as togas to elegant ancient Roman costumes reminiscent of the Greek gods, make sure your guests are dressed for your Roman party in style. You can use imprinted trellis and fountain invitations or use handmade scrolls as your party invitation. Toga parties mean decorating the venue in hues of white and gold. You can use gold paint and also decorate the venue with vines and drapes or gossamers of white and golden. Add Greek columns, terracotta urns, pedestals and classical statue busts made of paper mache to complete the look. The activities can include awards of best costumes, accessories and Roman goddess lookalikes. More on teenager party activities.

Spa Party Theme: Girls love to be pampered and a spa party for your 16 year old at any day spa is a perfect way for her to unwind with her friends. From soothing massages, aromatherapy, relaxing manicures and pedicures to heated soaks and warm mud wraps, spa parties are a definite winner with the teens. If your day spa is busy for the big day, then you can transform your house into a relaxing spa retreat. For the decorations, place a number of green plants, stacks of fluffy white towels, aroma candles and lots of fresh fragrant flowers. A small electronic waterfall and lots of nice pillows and blankets completes the look. Book appointments with masseuses or pedicurists for the party. As for the food, light finger foods and refreshing drinks are your best bets when planning this party

Luau Party: It is one of the most popular teenage party themes. It is a fun theme, arranged outdoors during the summer. For this Hawaiian theme, arrange the traditional foods and entertainment. You can also include a limbo contest to get the things rolling. Tikki torches and palm trees add to the atmosphere. You can create a lagoon effect by hanging the streamers in aqua, green and blues colors from the ceiling. A string of white lights add more glow. You can arrange a hula contest with your guests wearing the grass skirts. Let the teens enjoy a night in a tropical paradise.

Movie Theme Party: This party theme is perfect for both the girls and the guys. Select a favorite movie of all teen guests and arrange the party accordingly. For example, a Pirates of the Caribbean theme includes the pirate party goods, red bananas to wear, pirate attire, eye patches and red and black décor. You can play the pirate music or movies. Serving the chocolate coins could be more effective.

Hollywood Theme: For this type of party, you can stick the posters of Hollywood stars on the walls. You can drape yourself just like your favorite Hollywood star. This wonderful theme will make you to feel like the Oscar-winning Star of the Night.

The Survivor Party: Inspired by the popular reality show, this theme is full of fun and excitement. The teenagers are encouraged to apply their imagination. They are asked to make a lot of noise and a couple of yucky acts. This party theme requires plenty of foods for the game. You have to spin the wheel and it will show a particular food that a teenager would have to eat.

Murder Mystery Theme: This theme is truly fantastic for the teenage party, which suits to both boys and girls. It offers an element of drama and excitement that the teenagers always love. You can choose from numerous murder mystery games such as Way out West, Dead manâs Chest, Hollywood Lies, Davy Jonesâ Locker, Dazzled to Death, etc.

Beach Theme: Decorate the party location with the posters of blue water, shark and friendly fish. If the party is for all boys, then use the strange creatures and sharks for the decoration. Pearls and mermaids are used, if the party is for all girls. Sunglasses and beach towels are the great party favors. You may serve the gummy fish and fish crackers.

American Idol Party: For this theme, you will have to rent a karaoke machine. Enjoy your own American Idol contest with your friends.

How should I word this birthday tea party invitation?

Jae

I am sending out formal invitations to family for my daughters 1st birthday. I know she won't care much about birthdays quite yet, but I would like to celebrate the blessing that she is and the fact that I am so grateful she has come into my life with people who understand. I would like the invitation to mention in some regards the fact that we are not just celebrating a year, but all the milestones, hardships and triumphs we has been through together in the past year and all the wonderful things that are to come because to me that's a real reason to celebrate. Here are other facts that might be worth mentioning:

the tea party is somewhat vintage, Mad Hatter inspired

we are hoping the guests dress a little extra fancy (or even silly) such as big, Kentucky Derby type hats, long strands of pearls, bow ties and the like

it would be nice if the intro rhymed a bit, silly like Dr. Suess, but it is not necessary. Likely, the front of the card will be an intro to the party (the cute poem explaining things) and the inside would be a list of facts (where, when, etc)

teas and tea alternatives (lemonades, juice, coffee) snacks and cake will be served - actually cupcakes.

the age of the guests would vary from 1-65 though mostly adults would be attending

I know this is a lot to throw in there, and it might not all be necessary to figure out a nice poem for the introduction but I'm having a hard time phrasing this invitation and was hoping for some help. Any advice about the DIY invitation would be great.

Thanks so much!

ps
I am thinking of asking guests to bring something small for a time capsule she can open when she turns 18 but I'm not sure about that yet.
I picked a tea party because my daughters favorite toy is her tea set. She very much enjoys when her parents sit with her for some "tea" and "cake"

I'm not sure that all that stuff is necessary to put in the invitation, I only mentioned it all so everyone could use their own discretion to figure out what was necessary to include.

Thanks for the answers so far!

Answer
Scones and crumpets at 2 we'll have
High tea served for a big event
Jenny will turn one that day
a milestone birthday occasion

The Red queen decrees morning dress
all the stylish women will wear
their biggest hats and pearls and gloves
and play croquet with flamingos

Our gallant men will bring their top hats
the suave will wear a bow tie
a hanky to profer to a lady
a derby to wear at the Derby.

sorry it is late, and Rivers is tired.
You are trying to put a lot of info into one poem, that might be part of the problem. I would concentrate on the style of the party, and the basic reason why. You can wax poetic and talk about all the trials and tribulations of one year of life at the party if you Want.
If you can dig up a picture of a slightly blousy lady in a too big hat, and possibly her male escort that is obviously uncomfortable in his tea party clothes, it would explain at a glance what is wanted. Gee, seeing some of the guests at the wedding of Prince William and Kate would give me ideas!
I would pick a Victorian down in the heels party, or alice in wonderland, or a day at the races, stick with just one.
If you call the party a tea, peole will understand you mean small snacks and desserts. I would not need to explain that one.

I don't want to discourage the time capsule thing, but I would have thought the time of her birth, and having things with her birthdate on it would have been more the thing to do.

What are some unique birthday party ideas for turning 13?

micaela k

I am turning 13 in Nov. and I want my b-day party, to soooo cool, and something I have NEVER done before. (i have done: spa party, Halloween party, sleepover(s), dinner\movie\sleepover, etc.) It has to be not too expensive, but not too cheap! have any GOOD ideas?

Answer
I suggested this before:
Movie party theme for hall or at home. Have a movie themed party. They sell decoration kit and lots of decorations for this at oriental trading. com. If at home watch a cool movie, have popcorn and all kids of candy and junk food. Make or buy pizza and have sundaes. Have a sleep over with the girls if you want. Have a dance in a hall with this theme. Have everhyone wear a movie star costume. Favors: black gold metallic beads from oriental, directors clapboard photo keychain from oriental, sunglasses from oriental or windy city novelities (make sure to buy adult ones).

my friend is having a birthday party and i told her i would help her plan it out. We were thinking we could do a survivor theme but we have never seen the show! who knows what games we could do?

Answer
Survivor Party (outdoor event) Invitations: Using a computer program for making greeting cards, I chose the single fold (saves paper and you can make two invites on one sheet) I typed in "You're invited to , my daughter's name, (followed by a picture of the "CBS Survivor logo"), Party." On the inside (left) I asked each guest to "wear camouflage, or black, army green and khaki clothes, boots or good shoes. (But not required!)" You may not want to add that part yourself, I had children that had bought new outfits just for this one occasion. On the inside (right) I wrote: "Where will the tribes meet? At, my child's name, house." It was at an empty lot that has a wide trail made by our kids with a four wheeler. The trail looks almost like a wish bone that goes into three directions and the tall grass in the trails was mowed down). "When will the adventure take place? On , date of party." "The challenges will begin at 6:30 p.m." (I wanted it to be daylight long enough for the guest to get an idea of the terrain before they started the games). "The challenges will end around 8:30 or 9:00 p.m. following the tribal meeting." Decorations: I begged, borrowed, but I did not steal, most of the decorations. I got tikki torches, fish net, hammocks, a blue tarp, duck decoys, camo tarp, logs, etc...to make the setting as close to an island as possible. The blue tarp (the pond), was lei out in a small open area on one of the trails and we placed the duck decoys on it and named it Bay Island. The tikki torches were strategically placed to illuminate as much territory as possible without giving off too much light in one particular area. At the entrance of the North Trail (I labeled each direction), there was a tree house that had been in the process of removal. It was perfect...the broken pieces of wood resembled a shipwreck. I painted S.S. Skipper on the largest piece. Using my daughter's stuffed and plastic animals, I placed "wild or exotic" animals throughout the trees and grass. The camo tarp was tied up to four trees. My husband placed a large table under it for the food and gifts. We collected the largest logs we could find. They were placed around the campfire. Activities: I had the guest line up according to height. I separated them equally into to two tribes, which they named themselves, "The Discoverers" and "The Explorers." We started with a relay race. The tribes formed two separate lines. At the sound of the whistle the first two hoola hooped from the starting point (a line drawn with flour), and touched the camouflaged blanket, (blanket was folded in half long ways and tied to trees on each side of the trail), hoola hooped back for the next tribal member to get ready to start (they start when the other member goes under the blanket), and then had to run back and crawl under the blanket, (the blanket was used because I did not find the tunnels I wanted), next they jumped through tires (5 for each team... all 10 were borrowed from a tire store), and finishing when they walked across a balance beam. The first tribe to complete the course received immunity and a prize for each member. The immunity part was thrown in just for drama (lol), none of the tribal members were ever voted off the "island". The prizes were an assortment of survival needs, (ie: flashlights, binoculars, etc. most were purchased from the dollar store). Following the relay race...they liked it so much they did it twice. After, the tribes went to their first tribal meeting at the campfire. They ate hot dogs and talked about how much fun they were having! The scavenger hunt was the next activity. We removed the obstacles from the relay race while they were eating. I gave the instructions to play the game successfully. Each tribe had to find the object that was secretly coded in the clues. Each object had another clue that eventually led them to the "survival" treasure chest. I placed two of everything along the trails for the scavenger hunt so that both tribes had the same opportunity to get to the survival treasure chest first. One tribe went down one trail and the other went down the other trail. Each object was placed approximately the same distance from the other for both tribes. This activity took a while. Once the treasure chest was found we had our final tribal meeting. This included sitting around the campfire and eating cup cakes (frosted with an army green color) and my daughter opened her gifts. Favors: Each guest received arm bands made of camo material (ripped strips), and doo rags made of army green material when they arrived for the party, treat bags were filled with small gadgets, candy, etc. and given to the guests as they were leaving. This was a huge success...Good luck if you take the challenge to "Outwit" "Outlast" and "Outplay" the birthday party scene.

Printing Invitations w/The Little Mermaid?

Wendy D

I want to print invitations for my daughter's 2nd birthday party with an image of The Little Mermaid. I don't want to manually write all the party details as there are a lot of people invited (unfortnately a LARGE family), so I want to make them on the computer and use walmart, cvs, etc to print them. Can I do this (in regards to copyright or anything)?

THANKS!

Answer
Assuming you are talking about Disney's Little Mermaid, it would be copyright infringement.

You might have a hard time getting Wal-Mart or CVS to print them. All reputable companies have a policy forbidding the reproduction of copyrighted images without written permission from the copyright owner.

You might look for Little Mermaid invitations that you could buy and then print on. (http://www.celebrateexpress.com/celebration/pages/products/Product_BD.aspx?pageID=1&search=little+mermaid+invitation&vw=asthumb&sort=sort85&TabID=4294967232&N=4294967232+4294967237&SKU=E2298)

If you found stickers or photos of the Little Mermaid, you could buy them and legally put them on anything you would like.

birthday party etiquette ?

jazzijewls

My sons bday is next saturday he will be 3. I know that people will usually call and ask what he likes and what size does he wear? I thought maybe I would put on the invitation his size and the things he's into right now. I thought about listing it something like this: I love carrying cell phones in my pockets and wearing my daddys watches. I love super heroes and wear a size 3. needs work I know...suggestions welcome. would u be offended to get this info with the invite, I dont want to seem picky..we will appreciate any gift.

Answer
That actually sound pretty creative.

Also, when choosing invitations make sure to buy ones with pictures on them that go along with what your son is into. For example, if he likes spider man, get spider man invitations. You can also make your own invitations and choose what kind of stuff to put on it (maybe like a photo collage on the card cover of all possible gift choices). Or have a themed party where guests only bring gifts that match the theme. For my 21st birthday I had a Corona themed party and it was a hit.

Getting a little too complicated, but a kinda clever idea would be to make a web page of the party. So just tell all your friends and family the web page address and they can check it out for themselves online. Facebook has a group invite function that's pretty interesting and helpful.

Or if all else fails, just make a list of things on the bottom on the invitation that your son might like.

But wait, your son is 3 and has a cell phone?? *sigh* Kids these days... :-)

Good luck!

how about a surpirise party here is a idea
Surprise Party
Whatâs more fun than hiding 15-20 people in a small room for 45 minutes and jumping out in false alarm about 3 times before the guest of honor arrives?
Surprise parties are fun for all ages from younger kids to middle age to grandmothers and grandfathers!

Be sure to have the party somewhere that guests can easily find hidden parking or at least a location that allows them to walk only a short distance from their car. Make or order a cake, get balloons, food and goodies and be sure to hide all traces of the party until the special guest has entered the surprise area.

An excuse like asking the guest to check on your pet while you are away on vacation (and leaving a key under the doormat, etc) or having a friend or family member escort him or her to lunch is a good distraction to help keep the party a secret!

or this
Casino Night Party
For a big money theme, rent a hall or designate a large room in your home as the honorary casino. Plastic gold coins and paper money create the big-spenders atmosphere, scratch-off lottery tickets present the perfect party prize and black, red and white decorations, plastic cups and plates carry on the theme. Donât forget the poker chips!

Decks of cards, dice and felt tablecloths (for blackjack, etc) provide some entertainment, but consider looking around for cheap slot machines, roulette wheels, and so forth (consider renting if buying is out of the question).
Try to follow the theme for your musical selections and consider setting up a karaoke machine in case anyone is moved to tell jokes or sing songs.
Give each guest an allotment of play money and offer additional tender if they agree to play dealer for a couple of rounds (if you canât find people to sit in as dealers in the first place). At the end of the night, give the birthday guest his or her presents and also present the casino tycoon with the most play money a present of his or her own.

The fun and competitive nature of a casino should have your guests laughing for hours!

Cocktail Party
For an elegant reception, cook some hors dâoeuvres and appetizers and purchase some wines and liquors for your guestsâ enjoyment. Define a dress code in the invitations and either obtain the services of a DJ or pay your teenager to play music man for the night.

Clear out a space for dancing and set up some chairs / sofas for lounging and conversation. This fancy soiree will be the topic of conversation for months to come.

Be sure to set aside a special place for gifts to be given to the guest of honor. Or, if you know of a particular âlargerâ or more expensive item the birthday celebrant desires, collect money from the guests as a down payment!

Barbeque / Cookout Party

Quite possibly one of the easiest all-purpose party themes around, this one is a classic event that friends and family love to come back for year after year. Buy plenty of hotdogs, hamburgers, buns, ketchup, mustard, pickles, relish, cheese and paper plates and napkins. Make some fresh lemonade and iced tea and grab a couple of cases of beer. If you have a pool, make sure your guests remember their swimsuits and towels⦠and warn the birthday boy or girl that he or she just might get dunked!

Guest Bartender Night

Everyone brings a bottle of his or her favorite or newly discovered liquor and a mixer: soda, juice, tonic water, etc. The host or hostess should set up a bar area as accurately as possible if the home does not have a bar set-up already. Be sure to have lots of ice and clean glassware on hand. Depending on your budget, you can get really cute themed glassware and plastic tumblers to liven up the party!

Allow the guests to take turns behind the bar, each creating one special âsignature drinkâ for the other guests at the party. At the end of the night, hold a vote for everyoneâs favorite drink and present the winner with a prize! (You can pre-purchase a special prize, give a bottle of unopened liquor, or collect a dollar from everyone prior to the contest).

Be sure to treat the guest of honor with a toast from the guest bartender after all guests have received the signature drink. Of course presents and cards will be accepted and stowed away for opening at a later time!

Potluck Party

Have all guests bring a different main course, side dish or dessert and enjoy! This type of party can work especially well for those on a low budget because all of the guests will be contributing to the cause. Another great quality of this party type is that picnicking and outdoor parties thrive with potluck parties due to the abundance of food already contained in separate dishesâall you need is a picnic table or two to line up the food!

If, after the arrival of all your guests, you end up with three dishes of lasagna and two baked hams, you know for next time that you should consider âassigningâ recommended dishes!

Party ideas for 13 year olds?

Cockatoo

I'm having a birthday party this year and I'm turning 13 (well duh!!!) except I was wondering, any ideas for a party? I am not girly and am not into clothes, hair, shopping and all that kind of stuff. I'm quite sporty and like adventure kind of stuff. I was thinking of a water themed party at my house with a big water-balloon war anda slip-n-slide thin go. What do you think? By the way, I don't have the most money in the world so it can't be anything to eccentric. Also, how many people should invite? What food should I have, including the cake!!!?
Thanks xxx

Answer
here are some of the things Ive done for birthdays : Swimming and a meal.
Bowling then shopping then a takeaway and sleepover.
Fancy dress party.
Meal with friends then Dvd night in (:
Garden campout and garden party.
For my 13th I Had a limo ride around the towns and then came home and we camped in my garden had hot chocolate, pizza, candles, chocolate fountain(A bowel of melted chocolate and things to dip is just as good if you dont have this)
For my 10th birthday we did swimming and bowling and then a limo ride.
Themed parties are always fun :D

.. I think seeing as your sporty you should do something along the lines of what you were thinking, There are loads of activities you can do like, Go Karting, High rope challenges, all sound really fun :) Or you could just have the water thing at your house, If its outsidey I'd have a BBQ with things like hot-dogs and burgers and then little snacks like crisps and biscuits.. Then You could have a few people sleepover do face masks, nails and girly things whilst watching DVDs.. At my latest birthday we bought some Chinese lanterns really cheap from the Internet and let them go when it was dark after writing messages on them, It was really nice :)

Hope that helped :D ..

Throwing a "Pirate Birthday" for my 5 year old?

Dgirl

Interested in any creative ideas anyone may have for games, decor ect... I am also wanting to do a Treasure Hunt and would like some cute quotes I could use as hints. Thanks for your help!

Answer
for my sons third birthday we had a pirate party and it was a blast. The party was outdoors so this made it a pretty easy theme to handle. We have an old boat that we put in the back yard with an old table that we found in the attic of our house sitting out from it like a plank. We then bought a kiddie pool and filled it with water and let the kids take turns walking the plank. We bought jolly roger flags and had one hanging in the front of the house to let people know where we were and another hanging off the boat. I made the invitations using clip art of a treasure chest and used a LOT of pirate lingo! We also bought pre-made treasure maps but then added our own designs so that the kids could go on a real treasure hunt in our back yard where they found goldcoins, beaded necklaces, and stones that looked like jewels. I used the pirate ship theme for a lot of the food as well. I cut a watermelon in half in the shape of a boat, used a melon baller to empty it out and refilled with different varieties of fruit. I used long wooded skewers to place paper sails in each of the "watermelon boats" I did the same thing with the hotdogs only instead of using long skewers I used toothpicks (this was only for the older kids - but at age 5 you should be able to do this with most of the kids at your party.) hmmm thats about all i can remember... we just had our 4th b-day party last weekend and it was all about bugs... so thats whats stuck in my head right now! Hope the party is a success!!!

Ideas for a Camp Rock premiere party?

LUCY

It's just a small sleepover with my 3 best friends, my little sister and her friend. Any ideas?

Answer
Well, Target's selling Camp Rock stuff though it's probably too late to go out and buy it. :D I would suggest having lots of popcorn and a few microphones...Just turn on the captions and sing along to the songs as if it's a karaoke competition. :) Print out the Camp Rock DVD picture and on the back, have everyone write an alternate ending or continuation to the movie. Read them aloud and see what everyone else is thinking. :D Have fun!!

Btw, before you see the movie, get a list of characters in the movie (make sure the actors aren't on the list!) and try and guess which actor will be playing each. It'll be easy for the obvious ones like Demi Lovato=Mitchie and Joe Jonas=Shane, but it's harder for the lesser known characters like Peggy.

Camp out birthday party ideas?

For my 14 bday party im having a sleepover. Im going to put up a tent in my backyard and thats where we are going to sleep durring the night. guest will arive at 4pm on saturday and will be leaving 11:30am on sunday. I have invited about 10 girls(including myself) but only 5 are sleeping over. the other girls are going to stay over till late just not sleep over.

What are some games we can do??

i have a Wii snd we are going to play on it for a bit...and also i have a outdoor fire place so we are going to have marshmellows!!
.

Answer
What a fun idea!! I think it would be fun to toast s'mores and sing campfire songs.

Here are three games you can play (two are special to be played in the dark with flashlights!):

#1 The Challenge Game:
Youâll need: Slips of paper and a Timer

Before the party write down âstuntsâ on pieces of paper, along with a time limit of how long they have to complete the action. You will want to create several stunts per guest. Fold them up and put into a bowl. Some suggested stunts: say the alphabet backwards, stand on your head or do thirty jumping-jacks

To Play, have a guest draw a stunt from the bowl. They must complete the stunt within the time limit given to earn a point (otherwise, no point!). Go to the next person, and continue until all guests have had a chance to play. You can do this game as long as the supply of written down stunts holds out, or you can end it after a certain number of rounds. The Winner is the party guest with the most points wins!

#2 Flashlight Hunt Party Game
Divide guests into teams and equip them with at least one flashlight. Then prepare a treasure hunt with clues to be done in the dark. Or, give each person a flashlight and hide things for them to find. Think of it as an Easter egg hunt in the dark. As a matter of fact, you can even use Easter eggs, filled with fun treats, candy, etc. for the guests to find in the dark. Put a few really great prizes in some â like a gift card or something, and youâll have guests really going after it! Tell the guests to only find a certain number of eggs (or whatever they are searching for) so that one person doesnât end up with a lot, and others end up with none!

#3 Flashlight Firefly âAnother game to play after dark if you have wide open spaces. Youâll a flashlight. Choose someone to be the Firefly and give her a flashlight. Have everyone hide their eyes while the she counts to 10. During this time the Firefly goes out into the dark yard. At the count of 10, the Firefly must flash the flashlight on and off. The Firefly can run around, hide, anything to avoid getting caught! Every few seconds the Firefly flashes the flashlight. Whoever catches the Firefly will be it next!

Of course, truth or dare is always perfect for a sleepover.

Good luck! What a fun idea!

Any Ideas For A Girls Sport Themed Party?

Victoria

My Sister is Turning 12 In March And She Wants A sPORTS tHEMED pARTY...But For Girls(nO Football )hER fAVORITE sPORTS are Soccer...Softball...And Basketball...Websites Would Be Helpful...And We Really Need Game and Food Ideas

Answer
Sure...

Check the bowling theme...

Bowling parties already approach perfection. Kids find the game itself irresistible and love the giddy atmosphere of the alley--plus they're thrilled to wear shoes on the cutting edge of fashion. Okay, we're kidding about the shoes. (Still, how can you not have a good time when your feet look as if they've joined the circus?) Even with all this, though, a birthday party needs to feel extra-special. That's why we've jazzed up the standard bowling bash with some strikingly clever and easy ideas for invitations, party favors, party games, and a cake. They might just nudge near perfection to sheer perfection.
THE HIGHLY HIP T-SHIRT PARTY FAVOR
Download directions and templates for making customized T-shirts using your computer and specialty printing paper.
THE FUNKY CD SLEEVE INVITATION
This snazzy invite is a cinch to make: the envelope is a paper CD sleeve, the kind with the round cellophane window (sold for about 15 cents each at office supply stores). The bowling ball is a circle (4 3/4 inches in diameter) of black card stock, addressed and decorated with a white gel pen. (Note: due to the envelope's irregular size, you'll have to pay slightly more postage and write your return address on the back.)
WILD AND CRAZY PARTY GAMES
Even your most dedicated bowlers love thinking outside the frame. Just watch the party's fun level rise when the guests draw from a hat of outlandish bowling directives. Before the party, brainstorm ideas and write each on a piece of paper shaped like a bowling pin (see above).

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Bowl backward
Do a silly walk as you approach the lane
Bowl in slow motion
Bowl pretending that one of the boards in the lane's wood floor is a tightrope
Before you bowl, predict whether you will knock over an odd or even number of pins
For younger kids, consider trying the following. Between the time you release the bowling ball and the time it hits the pins: speed-sing as much of a song as possible; spell out loud the birthday child's name backward; call out as many pizza toppings/ice-cream flavors/kinds of candy as you can think of. Each bowler should then try to top the record.

Tip: Is there an arcade at your bowling alley? Then bring a big stack of quarters for your guests.

My son had a birthday party for his 9th birthday in February. We invited all the boys in his class over and we served hot dogs and chips and orange soda (pretty cheap meal, actually) along with a home made birthday cake. It was cold outside, so we played games inside. It was a sports theme, and we played a basketball game where the boys lined up and tossed a mini-basketball in a garbage pail and each time they had to take a step backwards and eventually the kid who won got a prize. They loved that game so much we ended up playing it ten times even though there were no more prizes to win- they just wanted the title of "Winner". We also played musical chairs, which, believe it or not, the boys liked, and we played sports bingo. I made the cards for free with an online bingo card maker and we used pennies for bingo markers. We gave out little, cheap prizes. I didn't do too much decorating, just some balloons and streamers, but the dining room looked really festive for hardly any money at all! I did get sports plates, cups and napkins from the dollar store.

The point is, even if there are kids having expensive parties at gyms or pools, etc., most kids just like the attention given to them at their party and kids that age generally aren't materialistic and are just as happy to eat hotdogs or pizza and cake and get a little bit of candy in a goody bag on the way out! Simple is best- simple can be fun and super cheap! And keep it short- two hours is plenty for a party with a meal, games, birthday cake and maybe gift opening. Any longer than that and you will be going crazy- trust me.

You could have a party for 10 kids for about $25.00 if you shop at a dollar store, make your own food and cake, and make homemade invitations or use email to invite kids.

Balloons: $1.00
Streamers $2.00
Hotdogs and Buns: $4.00
Chips: $3.00
Soda: $2.00
Cake Mix: $2.00
Candles: $1.00
Cups, plates, forks, napkins: $4.00
Prizes and candy and goody bags: $6.00

Dr. Seuss themed 1st birthday party. Need help with invitation wording PLEASE!?

Butterfly

I am throwing my son a Dr. Seuss/Cat in the Hat themed 1st birthday party at my home. My son's name is Nicholas (we also call him Nico if that helps). Can anyone please help me come up with a cute Dr. Seuss rhyme for his invitation?
The party will take place on April 16, 2011.

Answer
You could start the invite out with a quote from Dr. Seuss about the time...kind of like how the time has flown from your son's birth to his first birthday.....

"How did it get so late so soon? Its night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?â Dr. Seuss

Continue with the invite with something like this:

Time sure has "flewn". There has been laughter, there has been fun, look out world our little who is turning one. Please come join us for a seusstacular celebration.

April is the month, the 16th is the day, from 1-4 (or whatever time you decide) you can come and play.

Then i'd end with a cute quote on the back of the invite such as:

Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.â Dr. Seuss

Hope you can come!!!!

I tired lol.

Preschool Birthday Party?

RW

Hi,

We are recently moved to US from UK & new to customs of US. My 4 yrs old is going to preschool and he has received birthday invitation from fellow classmate.
Due to new in the country have some questions:
1. Invitation is on my kidâs name that means only he is invited and we have to drop him at venue and pickup later or one parent can accompany with kid?
2. What should be good birthday gift for fellow classmate? How much I should spend for birthday gift?

Thanks for your help.

RW

Answer
1. Yes, only the child is invited and you drop him off and pick him up later on. If you are willing to stay, you could talk to the birthday child's parent and offer your help to supervise the children or to help with games or something. She might just take you up on that. But normally, you would just leave the child. (Also leave your phone number in case you need to be reached.)
2. Let your son give you ideas of what to give. Because your son is the same age, chances are he shares similar tastes. You should spend around $20. You could always attach the gift receipt inside the card in case the child gets duplicates or wants to return the item.

Beach Bonfire Invitation wording?

teedeexx

I'm making my invitations on Microsoft Word and then printing it on cardstock. I'll have pictures on it and stickers on it too. The party is at my house not at the beach, so there will not be any water. It will just be a bonfire.
You don't need to include the time and date or anything. I just need a line at the top like Get ready to rock and roll (just an example). If you feel so inclined to to make a paragraph, then do so. Example:
Wording
Wording
Wording
Wording...etc.

Please make it appropiate, because I'm turning 13. Date is August 16. Time is 6-10 pm.
I will be having some water games (water balloons, water war, water guns). Please list some fun ones.

Answer
It's A Birthday Bonfire!
OR
It's My Birthday Bonfire!
Join me for night of bonfire fun
marshmallows, smores, and a whole lot more,
but you'll have to come to see what's in store!
So, join me for a night, of Birthday Bonfire fun, so I can celebrate my party with everyone!

I hope this helps and that you have a great party and a very Happy Birthday!!

What are some cheap and fun summer crafts for kids?

Laura

I'm the craft director this summer at a camp and I need ideas for easy 30 minute crafts to do. There are 3 different age groups; 3rd-5th grade, 6th-8th grade and then high school. The supplies would need to be simple, but still be entertaining. Any ideas would be a great help!

16th birthday party...?

Me

There's a bowling alley around where I live and I want to have my 16th birthday party there since I never do anything for my birthday.

They have group packages that are 12.99 per person(plus tax) and it includes:
2 slices of pizza
1 drink
1 hour of bowling
$10 game card(for the arcade)

My parents and I really can't afford to pay for everyone and I know at least 25+ people will come.

Should I put on the invitations that they have to pay for themselves, or does it just make me look really bad? :/

Answer
umm....yeah. I think that will look a bit bad because it's your birthday party not a get together. Maybe you shouldn't invite so many people.

16th birthday party?

Q. I wont be 16, until a few more months but iwant to start planning now, any suggestions? i dont really know what to do,i dont have a lot of money so nuthing expensive

Answer
Maybe you can throw a party with your friends at a hall or at your house. If its at your house all you need is some CDs and order some pizza for you and your friends to dance and eat. And a cake!!

If its going to be more formal like a Sweet Sixteen Party then
chose a date and look for someplace where you can have it, look for the best place that you can afford Decorate it with ballons or you can even have a them like "Summer Fun" you can get beach chairs and sand (if the place lets you) Send invitations to your closest friends only, that you won't waste that much money on food or the location. Send your invites about a month so that no one can't make it cuz of other plans.
Get someone from school to be a DJ or get a DJ, maybe you can do a dance off or something. You can get your food catered or you and your family can make it. It dosen't have to be that expensive Make sure you have a lot of junk food like chips, tons of cookies and cakes, and don't forget drinks. Make them fuller than full!
