I'm planning a surprise 70th birthday party for my mom this year. I'll be inviting people locally and from other states. How early should I send the invites?

Answer
6 weeks!

What are some good theme ideas for a surprise 50th birthday party?

shellnwill

I'm throwing a surprise party for my mom who will be 50. Any good ideas you've heard of for themes for a 50th birthday party.

Answer
Make it a destination party. Love to ski, then head to the mountains.

Take a cruise. "Destination parties" are popular and travel agencies compete to find the cheapest packages.

Enjoy music and theatre, go to New York and take in the symphony or Broadway.

Love the islands, go to Maui.

If you need to stay closer to home and cut the costs think about having a "This Is Your Life Party" at the recipient's favorite restaurant. Decorate to the nines, have a slideshow from birth to the present, have people give speeches and roast the birthday person.

An Over the Hill Party equipped with black decor and foods, along with all the grim-reaper accents. Everyone comes dressed in black. The guest of honor may be picked up in a hearse. You could do a more modern version of the Over the Hill Party and have a sit-down dinner affair equipped with elegant black and silver serving pieces. Hang classy black lantern lights and serve a elegant fondant cake with black accents.

How about a Golden 50th soiree. Send out formal invitations, fancy set table, lots of gold table decor (candlesticks, silverware, napkin rings, etc.) Make sure the cake is an extravaganza. Perhaps a white cake with gold icing or a dusting of gold decorating glitter.

Wine and cheese tasting party with lots of fancy crackers. Decorations should be classic with linen tablecloths, crystal, china, silver, etc.

A 70's costume party which would have an emphasis on the birthday person's hay-day. Or opt for another era like the roaring 20's, fabulous 50's, etc.

A Murder Mystery party where all of the guests come in costume to coincide with the theme, but you hire actors to act out the murder story. They will draw in your guests during the evening into the murder and help them to become a part of solving the crime.

Well, that's all I have for now. Have a wonderful time planning the party. I know the planning stage can be quite a bit of fun and doing things around the birthday recipient without he or she knowing, only adds to the drama and intrigue, and ultimately the got-cha! Have a great time!

what is the blurb to Harry potter book one?

Annie

What does it say on the back of the book? Please do not summarize. please give each exact word.

Answer
Harry Potter has never played a sport while flying a broomstick. He's never worn a cloak of invisibility, befriended a giant, or helped hatch a dragon. All Harry knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley. Harry's room is a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn't had a birthday party in eleven years.
But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to a wonderful place he never dreamed existed. There he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic around every corner, but a great destiny that's been waiting for him...if Harry can survive the encounters.

There you go, hope this helps.

Trying out for a school play, any tips on acting like Veruca Salt?

Q. I'm trying out as veruca salt in my school's play of charlie and the chocolate factory. Any tips on how to act like her. I got the accent down and I'm wearing this red dress that i got from forever 21. Any other ideas?

Answer
think about who Veruca is -- we know that her father is wealthy and that he's willing to spend money to turn an entire factory over to nothing but having his employees unwrap candy bars until someone finds the golden ticket. watch a couple of episodes of Sweet Sixteen on MTV -- the ones where the girl pitches a fit because her daddy bought her a convertible BMW, but she *wanted* a convertible Mercedes. i mean, you're thinking, are you *kidding*? he got you a freaking *new* car, what are you pissed about? you know the ones -- where the girl's objective seems to be to spend as much money as possible, to make as big a deal as possible, who's rude to her own mother, and who's tacky enough to take the invitations to her party to school just so that she can tell people who aren't invited that *they're* NOT invited.

Veruca's a girl who's happiest when she's rubbing someone's nose in the fact that they don't have as much money as she does. for her, it's not about having Stuff, it's about getting Stuff, and preferably getting Stuff in company of someone who would like to have Stuff but can't afford it and, as much money as Veruca has, it would never occur to her (as it might to a more generous person) to say, "hey -- your birthday's coming up sometime in the next twelve months, right? let me get you this bag (or whatever) for your birthday." and who kindly deflects all objections by saying, "it's only money, and it's only fun if you're happy, too."

if you've read the Harry Potter books, go back to number one and re-read the bit about Dudley's birthday and the instant fit he pitches because of the number of his gifts -- for pity's sake, he hasn't even *opened* them yet -- he just cares about the number of individual gifts. that's part of Veruca.

think of a few key words that really sum up that attitude for you -- entitled, brat -- whatever. then walk into those words and be that person. indulge yor inner, bitchy, selfish, bratty self. roll around in it and really enjoy being a brat. Veruca does.

What are some cool 15th birthday ideas for about 5 girls?

as;lgkj0q2

Birthday's coming up, wanna have a fun party. They will probably all sleep over, but what are some fun things we could do?

Answer
Have your guest bring sleeping bags, flashlights, pajamas, fuzzy slippers, etc.

1. Tie a balloon with string around your guest's ankles. On "go" everyone tries to stomp on everyone else's balloon.

2. Give all guests a toothpick to put in between their teeth. They form a line and try to pass a lifesaver or any candy with a hole in it to everyone with using only your toothpick.

3. Put truth and dare cards in a balloon and have guests pick a balloon pop it and answer the truth or do the dare.

4. Play hide and go seek at night

5. Have a silly string war

6. Put a cookie on your forehead and get it to your mouth by using facial expressions only

7. Have one girl be the pointer. She points at one girl to start off a random story then she points to another girl to continue it, and so on

8. Have a girl leave the room while everyone hides in their sleeping bags. The girl comes in and feels the bodies to guess who it is.

8. Have friends bring over board games to play

9. Have an equal pile of m&ms for every girl. One teen starts off by saying I have never... (I have never gone to Hawaii) If it is true for you, eat an m&m. Whoever has the most left wins!

10. Have a bowl of small multicolored candy (like skittles) Have everyone grab 2 candies. If they have the same color you get to eat them. If not you must keep this in your mouth. Round after round you stuff sweets into your mouth until you have 2 of the same color.

11. Play a classic game of truth or dare

12. Watch a movie.

13. Freeze dance

14. Give each other makeovers, BLINDFOLDED!

15. Play "Do You Like Your neighbor?".

16. Paint each other's finger nails.

17. Play hide and go seek in the dark!

18. Rent lots of movies!

19. Treasure hunt in the dark. (have people bring a flashlight to use)

20. Have a dance off... with bubble wrap. Try to pop the most bubbles.

21. Indoor picnic! Pack a basket of goodies, lay out a blanket in the living room, and enjoy a indoor picnic!

22. Tea party! Pull out your finest doll china (if the kids can be trusted with it) and serve hot cider, finger sandwiches, and fancy cookies. As you play you can even teach your guests proper manners for a formal occasion (ediquete).

23.Camp out! Clear some space in the basement, pitch a tent, pull out your sleeping bags, and let the kids sleep inside. (Teddy Bears optional.)

24. To a huge puzzle all together! Put your smarts together to figure it out!

25. Dance! Teach the kids your favorite dance.

26. Test Your Taste Buds! Have one person make something from ingredients in the kitchen and then other person has to put on a blindfold and eats the food. The person with the blindfold on then makes a guess at what the food is or what ingredients are in it.

27. Drama Bag Game - Fill shopping bags with 5 different items in each bag. A shoe, hat, party favor etc. - but fill each bag with different things. Divide into teams and give each team one bag. Go to different rooms and create a skit which includes all items in the bag. After 15 minutes come back and perform. Variation: Create a song or commercial.

28. Play Maufia.

29. Talk! Late Nights are a good time for friends to just get together and talk too!

30. HAVE FUN!!!!!!

For dinner have a "Mystery Meal". Give each guest a menu, but have the items coded like Dr.Pepper is Physicians spice. It is funny to see your friends so confused! Here are some more ideas:
âNeptune's Tridentâ (fork)
âPucker Upâ (lemonade)
"Shovel" (spoon)
"Finger Puppets" (olives)
"Early Morning Alarm" (chicken)
"Gold nuggets" Clue- Pocahontace (corn)

Slumber Party Menu

Pizza - take out or have more fun making your own with fun toppings.
Chips and dip
Veggie tray with dip
Fruit tray with dip
Make Rice Krispie Treats, Brownies or Cookies at midnight
Fondue
Hot Chocolate
Sleepover Smores
Smoothies

Make a Tutu! Instrunctions here: ht

I've been party planning for my kids, and I'm finding LOADS of adorable designs for sale by individuals. I've noticed that the main graphics are usually identical, or very similar, but they lay out and formats are their own. Obviously these people have the same software/program. I'm a stay at home mom and I think i am crafty and could do this myself if I had the program, and even eventually make some for others! But, I haven't got a CLUE what program they are using and where to get it. The designs are so cute and if you want an example of what I'm looking for, go to Etsy.com and look up invitations for birthdays, showers, etc. People have invites, thank yous, stickers, tags, etc all that coordiante and all very similar. Anyone know what these programs are!? I'd greatly appreciate the guidance on this! Thanks!

Answer
I haven't really tried it myself yet, but here's a list I've compiled ...

www.mycardmaker.com/
www.make-your-own-invitations.com...
EZ Invitations.com - you can add you own photos and make them very personal
www.invitationland.com/ -- make own invitations and print them - free
www.Pingg.com â free customized cards [invitation or greetings â printed or ecards]
www.cropmom.com â you can upload your own photos to make cards, etc.
www.lovelylabels.com/ -- you can personalize the stationery online, but not free â pay to buy.
Smilebox.com/birthday-invitations â Need to d/l their software.
There's a cardmaker magazine that your local library may have or can get, www.cardmakermagazine.com/sem/CMG...

You could browse through some of these too :
http://www.google.co.in/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=how+to+make+personalized+party+supplies+%26+invitations&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
And check out ClipArt, etc. too.
Also check out similar Qs in Y!A. You are sure to get plenty of ideas & links there from experienced people.

Hope this helps?
All the very best & have fun :-)

Whats a good alternative to a quinceanera party ?

purplestar

I am 13 and we are planning my quinceanera but my mom and I feel like we need more invites . . so we dont want to spend so much money on a big party if not too many people are going . Whats a good alternative to a quinceanera party , maybe a way of having a smaller yet fun celebration , or something else , btw I live in Phoenix Arizona if that helps .

Answer
A cheaper alternative is to go to a public entertainment place & pay for everyone's admission, which would be cheaper than buying food, decorations, DJ, etc. For example, we happen to live 10 minutes away from a Six Flags. For my son's birthday one year, we decided to have a family day at Six Flags with Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles & Cousins. I had offered to pay a portion of everyone's admission, but instead all of my family ended up buying season's passes (they were having a special at the time). Then all of my family did the same when the kids with summer birthdays came up. We would go to Six Flags for each child instead of expensive parties.

Apply the same logic to your Quinceanera. You live in Phoenix, I'm sure there is tons of stuff you can do. Do your bowling alleys have Glow Bowling like we do with DJs? Picnic in the park? Is there a cool place with mini-golf and go karts? Tea Party with an Alice in Wonderland theme? For my son, we are thinking about doing an Amazing Race themed party this year to change things up. You could do this cheaply enough and it's easy to do for a smaller party. Just do teams of 2. Here's an example of how it's done: http://www.teenpartyideas.com/html/amazing_race_parties_7.html Check out that whole website; there are tons of ideas for different themes!

Another cool one is a movie-themed party. You can rent a projector from Taylor Rental or similar companies. If you have a house with a backyard have the party at night. Hang a white sheet and you have an instant movie screen! Lay on blankets under the stars, serve ice cream floats, popcorn, hot dogs and movie candy...all inexpensive. Play movie trivia games; buy your decorations next year right after the Oscars in February. The party stores will have invitations and decorations on clearance. There are so many things you can do cheaply if you're creative. Half the fun is planning, so good luck and enjoy it!

What should I do for my 13th birthday?

Brown Eyed

I didnt have a party last year, so I really want one this year. My birthday is in december, so pool partys are not an option. Does anyone have any Ideas?

*I'm pretty sure there will be NO boys.

Answer
For me at that age (17 now) I just wanted to have fun and chat all night. So we didn't really have anything planned, we were just gonna go with the flow, see what would happen. We put mattresses in the living room, hired some movies and we'd see what we'd do. The only thing that I really had planned was the food. I always like doing something special in that area, like, for example: to gourmet (I'm not sure if that's the word in English (I'm Dutch)), which is where there's a big heating plate on the table and everyone's got it's own little pan to cook. Chocolate Fondue is also real fun to do together, a big pan full with chocolate fondue (http://www.lhj.com/home/Chocolate-Fondue... and then all kinds of fruits, cookies and cake to dip in it. Or to bake pancakes together or for everyone to create it's own pizza. Or to create your own desert with buckets of icecream, fruits, sauces, whipped cream etcetera etcetera. Although this may be a bit more cheezy and young then mature. (I still like it tho)

Also what always will be fun: bowling, miniature golf, swimming, giving each other beauty masks and makeovers and all the other cheesy, cliche girly stuff.

If you're not having a sleepover, just a fancy dinner party is so much fun as well, especially when you all prepare it together! With the whole invitation thing and fancy dress code, even tho you might not be that fancy at all!

PS: at my party: we ended up watching all the movies rented, making a walk through the forest at 2AM, having huge english breakfast and having chocolate fondue and pizza for dinner.

This year for my son's 10th birthday party, we are taking him and a few of his closest friends to an arena football game. I want to make our own invitation but I need ideas on what to say and how it should look.

I have looked at all different websites and have seen the "sport event ticket", but they were either to costly of you need to have a minimum of 30.

Here is some info regarding exactly what is going to happen that day...

2:45 meet at our house
3:00 leave for the game
4:00 tailgating (pizza, pop, cake, games)
6:00 family fun zone at the arena
7:05 football game
10:00 autographs
11:00 leave arena
11:30 pickup at our house

Does anyone have any suggestion?

Answer
Vista Print has a great invitation that looks like a ticket. It is $7.99 for a set of 10. You won't be able to list everything that you are doing that day, but they are really cool and easy to make/use:

How soon should I send out surprise birthday party invitations?

sundance_0

I am throwing a small surprise party for my boyfriend's 30th birthday party July 26. It's going to be at our apartment's community room. I am worried that if I send out the invites too soon that people may forget about the party, but if I send them out too late that people may already have plans!

Also, is it appropriate to ask people to bring a dish to pass? I plan on having a main dish and some snacks and beverages of course, but he has a big family :)

Answer
I agree with the other posters, at least a month before, with the summer month, schedules fill up faster. I would have them out so that everyone has them in their hands BY July 1st.

People won't forget, if they tell you they're coming they will mark it down and make sure to come. They're not going to forget.

I wouldn't ask in the invites to bring a dish, you can ask if they call and ask if you need anything, or you can ask your boyfriend's family and your family, but I wouldn't ask your guests in their invites to bring food, it's not right. I would talk to your boyfriend's family and ask them for some help.

Adobe InDesign, It is basically the leading program for designing. Although, i have to worn you it is very expensive, and if you want to include photos then you might want to Adobe Photoshop, which is also expensive.

Although if your crafty and resourceful enough, you might be able to pull it off in Microsoft Word, It wouldn't be as well done if you did it in InDesign but it might be able to get a simple, basic, crude, ordinary design from it

What is creative wording for a dinosaur birthday party invite?

butterflyg

My son is having his 5th birthday party as a dinosaur party. We have several things planned such as a "dino dig" (dig in sand for toy dino), making our own volcano erupt and creating a cool dino fact book. I have all this planned but cant think of a creative way to word his invitations. He is inviting his whole Kindergarten class (some of which do not have the money to bring a gift) so i also wanted to include that gifts are not expected on the invites. Any ideas?

I'm going to be 15 on Monday, and I want to get some scary movies for my party tonight. What are some good idea's?

Answer
I am a HUGE fan of horror and thriller movies, so here's a list of some movies I've watched. Old and new. I'm still looking for a seriously PERFECT scary horror movie though... Just hope that someday there will be one in existence. Hope this might be useful. Just watch trailers on www.imdb.com

House of 1000 Corpses is awesome (Rob Zombie)
Dr. Giggles (old movie but quite good)
Quarantine (People get bitten by something then go cannibal)
The Crazies
Soul Survivors
The Happening
Van Helsing
Ghost ship
The Craft (old movie, but one of my top favorites!)
Children of the Corn (There's a newer one, but I liked the old one best)
Thir13en Ghosts (Awesome)
28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later (kind of a follow up on each other)
Madhouse
Camp Hell
Hide and Seek (Wouldn't really call it a horror, but it's good)
The Skeleton Key
The Hole (Twisted movie)
House on haunted hill (Old movie but great)
Forget me not (Not too bad)
The Haunting (I've only seen the 1999 one, it's cool)
Dreamcatcher
Valentine
The Omen (Very old movie, but was awesome)
The Ward (Was super disappointed in the 'scary' parts, acting needs work, but good story)
Red Riding Hood
Dead Silence
The Covenant
Night of the demons (has a good story line, I just think the acting needs some work)
Diary of the Dead (Zombie movie, similar to 28 days later and quarantine)
Willard (Man made friends with a rat, more weird than scary)
Queen of the damned (I can't say how much I LOVE this movie!! Not really scary though)
Gothika
Ginger snaps (Seen all of them, not too bad)
Identity
Shutter Island is quite awesome
Seed of Chucky (Loved all the chucky movies, but this one was my favorite)
Shallow Ground (Weird movie)
Frozen
My Soul to take
Book of Blood
Splice
Chatroom (not really scary, but weird)
The Messangers
Seconds apart
Mirrors (I've only seen the first one, maybe the second one is also good)
Rubber (It's a comedy horror thing about a random killing tyre lol)
Stay Alive (AWESOME movie)
Pet Sematary 1 and 2 (The first one is better)
Wrong Turn (I've seen the first and second one. First one was better)
Wakewood
Parasomnia
The Blair Witch Project 1 and 2 (Liked the second one more)
Jennifer's Body
The Hitcher
The Children
Amusement
House of Wax
Case 39
When a stranger calls
All the boys love Mandy Lane
The Descent (only saw the first one)
The Amityville Horror
Chain Letter
30 days of night (never saw the 2nd one, didn't like the trailer)
Jeeprs Creepers 1 and 2
Zombieland (fusion of horror and comedy, could be great for a party)
Trick r treat
The unborn
Sorority Row
The Last house on the Left
The Faculty (Liked this one alot)
One Missed Call
The Fourth Kind
Shrooms
Hostel Part 1 and 2
Orphan
Sweeney Todd (Hells yeah!!)
The eye
The Uninvited
Idle hands (Awesome horror comedy)
Sleepwalkers (cool movie)
Prom night
I Am Legend
Boo
Sleepstalker (OOOOLLD movie, but it still stays awesome)
Teeth (Random movie)
The Rage: Carrie 2 (The first one was cool, liked this one better)
Joy Ride (Saw the first and second one. The second one was a bit disappointing)

What are some ideas of things to do at nine year old girl's birthday party?

Brittany

My sister turned nine during the summer and is having her party this week. It was supposed to be a pool party, but because it's so cold out side, there will probably not be much swimming, although we would like to keep it outside. It is 2 hours long, though, and we need ideas to keep all the girls (15) together and excited and having fun. We need ideas from crafts and games. Already, we are doing sparklers and marshmallow roasting, and other ideas like those that can be done in the dark/late afternoon would be great!!

14. Put on mosquito spray if your going to be outside! Mosquito bites suck!

15. Play "Do You Like Your neighbor?".

16. Play hide and go seek in the dark!

17. Treasure hunt in the dark. (have people bring a flashlight to use)

18. Have a dance off... with bubble wrap. Try to pop the most bubbles.

19. Tea party! Pull out your finest doll china (if the kids can be trusted with it) and serve hot cider, finger sandwiches, and fancy cookies. As you play you can even teach your guests proper manners for a formal occasion (ediquete).

20.Camp out! Pitch a tent, pull out your sleeping bags, and let the kids sleep inside.

22. Do a huge puzzle all together! Put your smarts together to figure it out!

23. Dance! Teach the kids your favorite dance.

24. Test Your Taste Buds! Have one person make something from ingredients in the kitchen and then other person has to put on a blindfold and eats the food. The person with the blindfold on then makes a guess at what the food is or what ingredients are in it.

26. Play Mafia. It's really creepy in the dark!

27. Have friends bring over board games to play

28. Talk! Parties are a good time for friends to just get together and talk too!

29. HAVE FUN!!!!!!

For dinner have a "Mystery Meal". Give each guest a menu, but have the items coded like Dr.Pepper is Physicians spice. It is funny to see your friends so confused! Here are some more ideas:
âNeptune's Tridentâ (fork)
âPucker Upâ (lemonade)
"Shovel" (spoon)
"Finger Puppets" (olives)
"Early Morning Alarm" (chicken)
"Gold nuggets" Clue- Pocahontace (corn)

Party Menu

Pizza - take out or have more fun making your own with fun toppings.
Chips and dip
Veggie tray with dip
Fruit tray with dip
Make Rice Krispie Treats, Brownies or Cookies at midnight
Fondue
Hot Chocolate
Sleepover Smores
Smoothies

Make a Tutu! Instrunctions here: http://www.birthdaypartyideas4kids.com/tutu-craft.htm

Any ideas on what should be written on an invitation?

Iâm going to have an 18th birthday party. But I am having trouble making the invitations. What can I write on them. Like what should they say. I know they should have the time and place but what else would make it look nicer.

Answer
The most interesting invitations I get are the ones where people put a little of themselves into the design. The time and place are necessities, but come on, you only turn 18 once, right? So be yourself!
-Use pens or pencils in your favorite colors to write them with, alternate the colors for every other letter or every other word. Don't be afraid to draw! For instance, if you like pink and you like cats...why not put a pink cat in a party hat on your invites?

-If you want a theme for your party, match your invites to the theme...so, for instance, if your having a party that's a mystery theme, write the invite as a riddle.
Ex: Guess who's turning 18? I'll give you a hint...
She's real cute
She has a dog
She like blue
She lives at (address here)
Don't have a clue? Well sneak over to her address at (date, time) and find out!

-Cut your inviitations into shapes, like balloons or cakes, but make sure you're careful!

-Put party confetti inside the envelope.

-Invitations should generally say something like "You're invited" it should have the date, time, place, whether or not your guest needs to RSVP, and whether or not they need to bring something with them (i.e. food and drinks are provided, gifts are appreciated, etc.)

These are all separate suggestions, but feel free to incorporate them all if you want. It's your party, so have a little fun with it!

I want to design an invitation card. What kind of software should I use?

My siblings and I are planning a surprise birthday party for our mother and I've been given the task to create the cards. All I have is photoshop CS6 and I'm wondering if there are other programs similar and simpler than this? What do you recommend best?

Answer
You can use any of the Microsoft Templates and the free OpenOffice to make your cards or this site is good:

HP Creative Studio for Home:: http://www.hp.com/hho/hp_create/?jumpid=re_r11400_us/en/hho/IPG/ipg20_cpt_int_fromprintstudiotopnav_

hey im having a birthday halloween party and i need to make some invites... any website ideas please?? or some ideas thanks!!

Answer
the only website i could think of is hallmark. i know you can go to hallmark.com and there's a section labeled shop by occasion, click on halloween and they have invitations you can purchase for a halloween party there. =)

I'm planning a 50th birthday party for my husband. I would like to know if someone can recommend?

Keisha G

a store in New Jersey that makes elegant/amazing invitations. My husband is a golf freak.

Answer
Many of the Hallmark and card stores carry invitation books for all occassions. I simply went through a local Hallmark store in Clark, NJ for my wedding invitations.

You might also want to see if there are any scrapbookers who will be willing to make your golf invitations. Check out local Yahoo groups, or your local Craigslist under the WANTED section.

Good luck!

What are some good party ideas for teens?

I will be turning 15 soon and I need to plan my party. Keep in mind that:
I do not drink, do drugs, or anything like that, so anything related to that is out of the question.
The party will be at my house, so no ideas that have to do with other locations please.

Also, I am really into music. Any ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Answer
I would make it creative...
1. Dance party
2. 70's
3. "A day at the spa"
4. Sports party
5. Make-up party
6. Pool party
7. Carnival
8. Movie night
9. Picture night
10. "Camping" party

1= Dress up really cool and dance with lots of music playing. And have a dance off!

2= Have everyone dress like they are from the 70's. And talk all night with words like... Groovy, Narley, and wicked.

3= If you have a hot tub.. Have everyone get in. Then do facials, get Mani & Pedi, read magazines, and most of all RELAX!

4= Everyone dresses up as their favorite sports player. And you play soccer, basketball, tennis, badmitton, and lots more.

5= All of the girls bring make-up and you give eachother makeovers and take pictures.

6= If you have a pool, have a pool party! With lemonade, snacks, and more!

7= Have a bunch of mini-games and buy prizes to give people if they win. (Make sure everyone wins so no one is left out!!)

8= Rent a lot of movies, and watch them all night with your friends, and of course... have popcorn, soda, and candy!

9= If you have a camera, and dress up clothes, and makeup... have everyone dress themselves up in different outfits and different makeup and take lots of pictures!!

10= If you have a tent... set it up in your backyard and have a camp out! Make a pit and have a camp fire with marshmallows and make smores!(YUMMM) Also make sure you bring all your supplies out.. because no going back inside! Unless you have to go to the bathroom but you cant grab anything while in there!

I hope you have a great party and you have a blast! Tell me how it goes and what theme you are going to do! :) gooooood luck. (BTW happy birthday, whenever it is!) =]]]

What should I do for my 16th birthday?

Graci :D

Well my birthday is coming up really fast (you know how the summer is) and I need to start planning. The problem is, I have no idea what I should do for my birthday. I mean, it's my sweet 16, I want it to be special. Or in the neighborhood of special.

I want to do something with my friends. I have maybe 5-10 I'd invite for sure, but those are the closest. I was thinking about camping in the backyard, because we have a big backyard and a big tent.

I need lots of ideas, some that won't make my birthday lame and will make it really fun and memorable.
Thank you so much for the help! c:

Answer
The backyard camping idea sound like fun. Order pizza and serve a nice salad or grill hot dogs and burgers and serve with potato salad and coleslaw or salad. You can serve cupcakes instead of Birthday cake, but for this special occasion I'd want a cake that say Happy Sweet Sixteen.

Tell everyone to bring their best ghost stories or start a scary Stephen King or James Patterson book. If you have Wi-Fi and a Kindle Fire or Ipad, you can even watch scary movies.

Another fun party idea is a Spa Party. You can buy inexpensive facial creams, nail polish and remover, cotton pads etc. in Walmart or other large drug stores. Give each other facials and paint each others nails. Do the spa before or after dinner. Then serve dessert last. For dessert go with your birthday cake and several flavors of ice cream and topping. Let each girl make their own sundae.

I'm a girl and want to have a good 16th birthday party. I've had good ones before, but I want this one to be really good. Do you have any ideas on what I could do?

I live in the Cincinnati region of Ohio.

Answer
You have many choices, google some ideas I have put two links in source area. One of the website offers video based invitations and cards to send out which is a totally new concept. What you can do is video record your invitation message and choose any invitation design you like from that website and you can add that personal message into any invitations or cards and send to all your friends. This can be really amazing and you will stand out because of this new idea and creativity. They also have RSVP features.

Now for birthday parties, there is another best website where people posts their birthday party ideas and when I say people posts that means hundreds of thousands of ideas :) so I am sure that you will get something from there to celebrate your sweet 16.

What should I do for my 13th Birthday Party?

Q. I am having a GIRLS only birthday party. My 13th Brithday party is next October 2008. I have my own movie Theatre if that helps. And a HUGE house. Im going to invite all my girl friends but I don't know what kind of birthday to have. We are willing to buy lots of party accesories. Any help?

Answer
WOW....my niece just had her 10th birthday using DVD invitations with her pictures and a song with the invitations instructions...about 1-3 minutes long.
You should try that as an invitation..and for the party if you gonna have dancing; on the movie screen you should have the music videos to that song you are playing...and someone filming the party that may occasionally show live on the screen what is going on while the party is popping.

If you want suttle with just girls...I recommend a party that involves movies and karaoke...

Is it bad taste to ask people to bring a dish instead of a present to a birthday party?

darkthings

I recently went to a surprise birthday party for a family friend. The invitation clearly said no presents please, instead feel free to bring your favorite dish and/or beverage. It was mostly family and a few close friends. I actually thought it was a good idea and took the pressure off of trying to figure out what to buy. Some of the people at the party thought it was bad taste. My friend got wind of this and feels really bad now. What do you think?

Answer
No, it's fine. I'm sure you'll come across some sticks in the mud who get their panties in a bunch over such matters (*cough* kdkcbrooks *cough*) but for the most part, people don't mind being told they can bring food to gatherings, especially if it's mainly family.
