I'm planning a 17th birthday party for my friend, and I have 100.00 spending limit! I want to plan a cheap but cool and hip party!! Does anyone have any ideas for games, snacks, themes, or decorations?

Answer
You can have a bbq with hamburgers and hot dogs. You can then set up an ice cream bar with vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream and some toppings. Sprinkles, whipped cream, a jar of cherries, and chocolate sauce. You can go to the dollar store and get the tall sundae glasses or just use wine glasses from your house.

You can do each other hair and nails. Manicures and pedicures. Ask your friends to bring their nail polishes and files and order out some pizza, and you can even do the ice cream still or bake a cake or some cupcakes and have your friends over for a spa night.

You can camp out in your back yard. Tell your friends to bring their sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, etc. Get some music, flashlights, etc, and have a night out in the yard.

You can also do a dinner party at your house. If you and your friends know how to cook, invite them over and cook dinner from appetizers to dessert and have a sit down dinner. Or ask your mom for help and cook with her and ask your friends over for a more formal sit down dinner. Make up place cards and a menu, and set the table formally and have a dinner party for you and your friends.

Have a taco bar. Make tacos with all the toppings for you and your friends, get a pinata, and rent some movies and hang out.

Have a girls night. Eat pizza, ice cream, junk food, chips, etc, and hang out. Rent some movies. Tell your friends to bring their pillows and blankets, and pjs, and have a lounge night with your friends. Doing what YOU want!

You can do an around the world dinner party. Tacos from Mexico, pizza from Italy, and so on and and have your friends over for an around the world birthday dinner.

I hope some of these ideas help. Happy Birthday!

I need ideas for a wedding shower and bachelorette party?

batmancrtn

I am the maid of honor in my best friends wedding. I am throwing the wedding shower and bachelorette party. Ive been reading ideas online for both but everything requires lots of money. Im on a TINY budget and was wondering if anyone had free or cheap ideas of things to do.

Answer
A shower is fairly inexpensive depending on how many people you invite. Let's say you invite 20 people. Invites will run you about $30-$40. Then food. You can go as cheap as you want for that. I'd say punch, a cake, and a few sandwiches/puff pastries will run you about $50. You should have a co-host split it with you as I imagine you aren't having it at your own house. Then that would be about $50 each.

If that's too much, do some things yourself. Instead of buying a couple flower arrangements for the table, pick your own. Instead of buying frozen quiches or puff pastries at a warehouse club, make sandwiches yourself. Make chicken salad croissants and cucumber sandwiches. Then you could cut the cost in about half.

For a bachelorette party, how many girls are you inviting? It's not just the wedding party that's invited. I'd say the average number is between 7 and 15 girls. Ask them what their budget is. For $20 a person you can do a fair amount.

My bachelorette party we went to dinner at a restaurant that was doing buy one get one free appetizers. We all passed them around the table and it ended up being $8 a person for 2 appetizers each (though I don't think we actually ordered that much). Then we went to a few bars with ladies get in free. Then after about 1 drink, people started buying the bachelorette party drinks. Including buying my drinks, I think that ended up being about $15 per person over 3 bars. So my total was about $25 per person.

There are so many things you can do--it depends on the girls. For an older friend of mine, they hired a chef for about $300. They spent $200 on wine. That was only $25 per person since they had 20 people.

For another friend who had known her bridesmaids since they were 5, they had a sleepover like the old days. A lot of old 80s movies, popcorn and margaritas all night. That was something like $30 total as they got the bucket of margaritas from bed bath and beyond and popcorn is super cheap. Someone put the movies on their netflix.

My groom went camping for his bachelor party. A campsite is about $20-$30. Between beer, food, wood for the fire, gas to get there and other stuff I think everyone put in $30. They rented 2 campsites and between the whole group, tents and sleeping bags were covered. However I've been to campsites that already had tents set up for you.

You could tour wineries. When we were out in California we rented an 8 passenger limo. It was about $40 per person. Many wineries are free and the ones that aren't have roughly a $5 tasting fee. You could easily just do free ones though. Oregon, Virginia, NC--all have a ton of wineries.

One thing I've heard of some people doing is going to an amusement park. That ends up being close to $60 per person though once you have parking and food thrown in but there are lots of outdoorsy things you can do. Minor league baseball games come to mind. You could go to the beach for a day trip. A cooler filled with ice and drinks for the day, and stopping for a meal on the way down and back would be all. Probably close to $30 per person.

Some couples do a backyard bbq type of thing and just grill out burgers at the pool. Yes some girls go to the spa for the day or do some luxury trip to NYC and spend several hundred but I don't know any of them. Most people get married in their mid20s and most of their friends are poor.

I'm emailing birthday invitations to my friends to invite them to my 16th birthday party (:

How do I format it?

So far I have:

What:
Where:
When:

Hope you can come!
(My contact information)

Is that it? Am I missing anything?

Answer
Why not just use evite.com - the invitation can be tailored, has all of the 'right' fields and lets the invitees RSVP when they get the email.

How long before I send party invitations out?

Q. Im having a birthday party on the 28th of this month. Would it be too soon so send out invitations tomorrow or Saturday? If I hand them out Saturday they have like a week for RSVP and all that stuff. Would it not be enough time or should I make the party later?

Answer
Saturday should be good, but as long as whoever you want to invite has time to RSVP, it should be fine. Like I said, that week should be good.

my daughter is turning 11 and looking for birthday invitations...preferrably winnie the pooh... but do you know of any stores that would have good variety of invitations. we checked walmart, target, walgreens, kmart.
any suggestions?
thanks in advance !

Answer
Hey Kevin,

For something like Winnie the Pooh, I would check at Toy's R Us (Couldn't do the R backwards LOL!), or the actual Disney Store if you have one. Check Hallmark stores and party supply stores. I have seen them out there before.

Could be a trademark thing? In that case, your best bet would be the Disney store or online if you don't have one.

Good luck!

And Happy Birthday to your girl!

How do I give a Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland Birthday party?

charles

My little girl is turning six and wants a Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland Birthday party. I can't find any thing...help, please. thanks.

Answer
You can make it like a tea party :D put little labels on things. If you're okay with your daughter having soda, get those little glass bottles of Coke or Sprite from Target and use ribbon to tie nice, little cards that say "drink me", and tie a card that says "eat me" to the forks or fold the card and put it on the plate.

Invitations can be on tea pot shaped pieces of paper with the words "read me" on the front (:
Try playing croquet with the girls-- haha-- and see if your girl wants to dress up as the white queen

Rachie

I am about to have my 12th birthday party and i have no ideas! I want this party to be AWESOME so i need really cool ideas! Thanks

Answer
I suggested these before:
Movie party theme for hall or at home. Have a movie themed party. They sell decoration kit and lots of decorations for this at oriental trading. com. If at home watch a cool movie, have popcorn and all kids of candy and junk food. Make or buy pizza and have sundaes. Have a sleep over with the girls if you want. Have a dance in a hall with this theme. Have everhyone wear a movie star costume. Favors: black gold metallic beads from oriental, directors clapboard photo keychain from oriental, sunglasses from oriental or windy city novelities (make sure to buy adult ones).

Luau, beach Hawaii: Orientaltrading has the coolest decorations and favors for this theme and the cutest tropical invitation in the bottle. Give your guests leis as they come in. Play Limbo, Hula hoop, and have a few grass skirts and everyone (including the guys) have to give hulaing a try. Again if you have room to do this at home or you can rent a small room. Tropical pinata. Twister. Hawaii site including games: www.alohafriendsluau.com. Cool invite: Flower lei and attach a printed invitation card.

Neon/Glow in the dark This is a cool theme!
invites:
For the invites oriental trading has neon badges. They are neon nylon necklaces that have a clear plastic case. You need to make the cards on your computer using the business card maker on your computer or just use the MS Word. You might want to put a really big VIP in color and on the back at the top Nicole's Neon Bash in cool color and font and then the party info, who what when.

Oriental trading sells Neon gangster hats.

favors:
Oriental sells neon sunglasses.
Oriental also sells neon jelly bracelets
Glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces, lot of sites have these.
Neon Twist and Glow lollipops.
Neon nail polish u.s. toy company
Neon lazer candy (just like pixie sticks but in neon)
Neon slap bracelet at u.s. toy company
Decorations:
More neon themes go along with Glow in the dark.

windy city novelties has neon tablecloths, cups, napkins. Just type neon in their search bar.

Balloons:
Shindigz has black light sensitive neon latex balloons. Again put neon in their search bar.

Shindigz also sells a neon lights personalized banner.

Oriental trading sells a neon fringe banner

Oriental trading sells neon balloon weights for the balloons you buy.

Party cheap has neon party horns and garland.

Glow in the dark sites:
glow source
shop.glogames.com Lots of games here.
Light God

U.S. toy company sells neon body glitter.
Windy city novelties sell lumi balloons that are balloon with lights in them.

Large neon party pack (kinda expensive) at windy city novelties.

So to search for neon and glow items go to all the party sites ands put that in the search bar:

These appetizers were great at our sweegt 16:

Taco Dip:
2 softened cream cheese.
1 16oz sour cream
1 packet taco seasoning.

Mix with mixer. Put in bottom of a cookie sheet. Top with shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and green onions. Use the cheese but you can altered the rest to your taste, maybe add black olives. Make 2 of these. Serve with tostitos scoops.

PUPPY CHOW
6 cups Crispix cereal
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup butter
12 ounce chocolate chips
2 cups powdered sugar
Melt peanut butter, butter and chocolate chips together in the microwave or on the stove. Stir into cereal. Put powdered sugar in a paper sack. Put cereal mixture in and shake until well coated.
Silver Dollar Sandwiches:
These are silver dollar rolls made by your bakery in the grocery store. We have them in our store just ready to grab, for large orders call ahead for some. Anyway they are perfect for parties, hand size, neat. You buy shaved ham, beef and turkey. You put lettuce on if you want and some cut cheese into triagles and put on. Also put real butter on on side of the bun inside of course. And have mustard and mayo packets on ice in case anyone wants that.

GAMES:
Twister
limbo
get a pinata that matches a theme if you choose a theme.

Put a certain number of candies in a pie plate, fill with cool whip or whip cream and guests have to hold their hands behind their back and find the candies to win a prize.

Buy poster of a cute actor or singer (get one of a girl and one of a boy if you are having a coed party). Anyway, put lipstick on the guest, blind fold them and then spin them a couple times and put them in front of the poster and they have to kiss it. Whoever comes the closest to the actor or singers mouth wins a prize. This can be funny, especially if boys come and they have to put on lipstick.

Police/Jail: Isheriffs badges at shindigz. costumes and handcuffs at oriental trading.
Police line up board at oriental trading.
Police red flashing light at shindigz.
Police car cardboard standee at shindigz.
wanted posters at buycostumes.
Get some brick wall backgrounds to make a jail room or use for the walls at the stumps

I'm planning a 4yr old birthday party for my son and I'm planning on inviting his friends from daycare.

Jessiegurl

What kind of "kind" message can I add to the invitation stating to the parents that for the safety of the child a parent must accompany their child to the party at all times. I need help wording it and knowing if this is appropriate to add to an ivitation. *i might have a jumper and the location of the party is pretty big so i don't want unattended children running around*

Thanks for your help!

Answer
In my experience ( I have a 7 year old and a 2 year old), the parents stayed at the party, without being asked, up until her 6th birthday. I wouldn't leave my 4year old at a party, myself.

You sound like you want to make sure, though, so you could write the invitation as "Dear (name of child), you and a parent are invited to..."

I have received invitations that said "please, no drop-offs" which gets the point across but does seem kind of blunt.

I think it would be fine to put "Please, for the safety of everyone, at least one parent should accompany all children" I would not be offended by that.

One thing you should be prepared for, is that that may mean a single parent (even if single only for the day!) will need to bring along a sibling.

What should I do for my 16th birthday party?

Jvdgbv25

I'm a girl and want to have a good 16th birthday party. I've had good ones before, but I want this one to be really good. Do you have any ideas on what I could do?

I live in the Cincinnati region of Ohio.

Answer
You have many choices, google some ideas I have put two links in source area. One of the website offers video based invitations and cards to send out which is a totally new concept. What you can do is video record your invitation message and choose any invitation design you like from that website and you can add that personal message into any invitations or cards and send to all your friends. This can be really amazing and you will stand out because of this new idea and creativity. They also have RSVP features.

Now for birthday parties, there is another best website where people posts their birthday party ideas and when I say people posts that means hundreds of thousands of ideas :) so I am sure that you will get something from there to celebrate your sweet 16.

Presents for birthday party, Which is the right thing in this case?

I luv Pets

I have 2 little girls. 3 years old and 1 years old. My great friend has a daughter that was born a month after my 3 year old. We do alot of things together. Now her little girls birthday is coming up, and she sent separate invitations to both my daughters for the birthday party. Weird? I know. I haven't mentioned anything but now that I think about it, do I have to bring 2 gifts? Or is it ok to just get one nice one from the both of them.

Answer
She probably sent two invitations so the girls could each feel special that they got their own invites and each got their own letter in the mail. I think one gift from both of them is completely acceptable. if your friend gets offended by it then too bad for her, shes obviously not a good friend in that case lol. her daughter is so young anyway, its not like she's even going to know who the presents are from. I wouldn't worry, im sure it has nothing to do with how many presents you bring.

How to print custom invitations on Microsoft Word 2007?

lolop

I bought invitations not so long ago for my birthday party. Now that I have the information I would like on my card in a word document and I would like to print it out, I don't know what measurements, margins, or set-ups for my card. Where do I go to customize the settings to fit my invitation?
Btw; my invitation's measurement's is 7 by 5.

Answer
1. Your printer has to be capable of printing your invitations. Is it?

2. In Word, click Pagelayout, click size, and scroll down to the size you need. This gets you set up to typing on the proper layout size.

3. Assuming your printer can print these invitations, when you are ready, click the round office button, print, properties, effects, print document on -- and select size you need. These steps (in para 3 here) may be a little different depending on your printer model's software. But the main thing here is to know it's in the office button/print feature. If your buttons aren't like mine, just click around until you see it. But, again, like I said above, your printer has to be capable of printing this size, or you won't be able to do it.

Trying to plan a combined SURPRISE birthday party for my brother who is turning 40 and my Mom who is turning 60. Birthdays are 2 weeks apart. Any ideas/suggestions as far as invitations, etc?

Answer
okay if you having a :

house party: Empty the living room for some space and fill the whole living room, toilets, bathroom and kitchen with coulourful balloons saying happy 40th birthday. you could try and hire some lights and stuff from 2mix.co.uk and their number is 02077945151 and put them in the living room and invite all of his friends and you could also give the party a theme of his favourite character e/g supeman and superwoman for the men and the ladies and get some party food like wine and junk food or bbq if you have a garden or balcony and a big birthday cake made with the shape of a bum one side saying happy birthday and one side saying 40 and choose a selection of his favourite music and finally for the surperise , ask your mum to take him out to lunch or something while you and some friends
(not the guests / his friends) decorate the house and make the food and stuff and for the invitation depending on the theme choose something that relates to the theme e/g superman , you could make a card with the triangle and an S on the front and at the back write the details and dont forget to tell them about the theme of the party and at the bottom write Shhhh KEEP IT A SECRET
ITS A SURPERISE !

hope you like it

and a nice present would be to buy an album from T-kmaX and put some nice pictures of you and your brother only to make it special and wait till the party is over make sure you take lots of pictures and then fill the album up with lots of pictures and then give the album to his as a present. and dont forget to surperise him turn the lights of just like in the movies and when he comes in everyone be ready to turn the lights on, the music, ask everyone to turn one thing on .

Where can I find Golden Ticket invitations?

I am planning a surprise party for someone's 30th birthday. Their favorite movie from their childhood was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (from the 1970s). I am not happy with alot of the golden ticket invites some of the vendors put out, I found one that I did like but it was from the UK, I'd rather buy from somewhere in the states. I want to order customized golden ticket invites. Any idea where to go?

You could create your own invites using graphics.

Does anyone have any good ideas for camping activities?

campfire camping party ideas

campfire camping party ideas image

CampIng201

I am going camping this summer with my friends... And I don't know what we should do!!! We are staying in a cabin for a few days on the beach. Does anyone have any ideas?

Answer
Yes..

1. Stargazing. Check out all the stars and constellations. Since you are away from the city lights, the view can be amazing.

2. Plant and Wildlife Identification. Go looking for leaves, berries, tracks, scat, dens, burrows, etc. Learn what things live in your camping area and be able to identify them.

3. Hiking. Go for a walk and see nature in action. Let the kid inside you come out as you explore areas you have never been. The kids will love the adventure of it and it is great exercise.

4. Start fires without matches. Use flint and steel or use a hand or bow drill. You can make a game of this to test your survival skills against others.

5. Go fishing or hunting. These are camping basics and quite a lot of fun.

6. Practice Knife and Hatchet Throwing. All you need is a target and you are ready for action. I will tell you from experience that hatchet throwing is much easier.

7. Tell Ghost Stories and Adventure Stories around the campfire. Some of my best memories as a kid were hearing these types of stories from my father and other adults. Give your kids this same experience by learning a few good stories.

8. Orienteering with map and compass or GPS. Set a course to find a location on the map. With the invention of the GPS, this normally mundane activity is now exciting.

9. Geocaching. This popular treasure hunting game uses a GPS device to find hidden treasures in the field. You can adapt your campsite for this very same function by hiding some objects in the area and allow for family and friends to go hunt for them.

10. Birdwatching. Being away from the city, you have the opportunity to see a number of different types of birds that you would otherwise not be able to appreciate or follow. Here, is a chance to see them in their natural habitat.

11. Watch Animals. Make a blind and stay down wind from the animals. If it is early morning or late in the day, you are likely to see a number of animals come down for a drink.

12. Build a Lean-To or some other man-made shelter. This is a great idea if you are camping with a number of people. A lot of team work will go into building this structure and there is always a lot of satisfaction out of building something with your bare hands. Why not let your camping group share in this experience.

13. Learn different types of knots and try them out. You can do this for fun to show off to friends or you can make it practical by using the knots to help with your camping. For example, create a rope that will hold up your water bucket from a tree.

14. Build a water still. This is another survival technique which gives you a chance to see if you could really survive using this method. Give it try as it is something you can set-up, go do other things and then, check back later to see how you did.

15. Create snares and traps. This works much like a water still would in that you set it up and check on it later. Just be sure to let all the people in your party know where they are and be sure to take them down when you will be leaving.

16. Glow sticks for the kids. Bring along glow sticks for the little kids to play with at night. Kids love these things and will make their own games with them.

17. Woodcarving. This grandfather favorite can also be a hit with kids. It allows them to be creative in what they might design and teaches them patience. Plus, the only tools that are needed are wood and a pocket knife.

Good luck!

Me and my family are going camping next week and need a scavenger hunt list. Got any ideas?

scott

But this isn't your average "pick a pine cone off the ground" scavenger hunt. At night, your team must go around every camp site and ASK them for these items. Usually many families are huddled around the campfire and take the list and try to get as many things for you as they can. So my question for you is, what are some items that you would put on this list?

Answer
I would no longer send kids out to other campsites unless you were at a privately owned camping spot.

For a different idea instead of the usual rubber band paperclip scavenger hunt try this, For every member of the party going scavenger hunting have them try and tell a story about another member of the party by finding things in nature that they see around them. Also make the scavenger hunt start after breakfast is finished and finish around the evening campfire. This way they will have plenty of time to find something that they can share. It does not have to be an object either it can be a mental image of something they saw or picture if they have a camera.

here would be some examples;
1. I found this piece of driftwood on the beach it has these long skinny branches on it that look like uncle Bobs legs, and then I found this maiden hair fern branch that has his hair color. I made a hat for it with the bark of a tree see it looks just like him.....

2. When I passed over the ridge today and saw the water fall the sun glistening through the mist It looked like the fire uncle bob built (tossing some extra pine needles into the fire at this point) And made me want to share this with you, pass a picture of the waterfall around.

Have fun

It's my 18th birthday soon, and since it's the one big one I wanted many of my family i haven't seen for years that live away, to come down and celebrate. I'm planning on a dinner at a bistro type restaurant, but i'd like to request people to pay for their own meals, simply because I am inviting 70 or so people, and I don't have the money to spend $50-60 on everyone elses meals. I live on my own with no immediate family so money from parents is also not an option.
Please help me on how to word it without it sounding tacky or cheap. thanks :)

Answer
There is no polite way to plan a party that is beyond your means and then pass the expenses off onto your (ahem) guests. Contact family members and offer them cake and ice cream at some venue you can afford. Either they will offer to "chip in" toward a more lavish celebration or they won't.

What is a good amount of challenges for a survivor party?

I'd like to have a
survivor themed
birthday party for
when I turn thirteen
I want it to start in the afternoon
and go into evening but no
later than like 10:30 at night.
If I start it at 4:30 or five thirty
How many challenges do you
think I could fit in?

Answer
You're going to need someone to act as Jeff Probst and explain the challenges, hand out the buffs, etc. Make sure it's someone who is willing to wear something like Jeff.

For invitations you should put little notes in glass bottles or you could roll the invitation up the way tree mail comes on the show. Make sure to tell them to be prepared to Outwit, Outlast, Outplay.

When your friends arrive have a jar (that you can't see trough) ready with different colored buffs. Let everyone pick one and get into their teams. Also, have names ready for both of the teams.

Set up two picnic tables and have tents pitched on opposite sides of the yard... Have one tiki torch for each person, on each team (They don't have to be lit... that could be dangerous).

Let the teams check out their camps and have a note waiting inside each tent. The note can tell them to report to their first reward challenge.

If you want to make this really fun and have memories of your party, see if one of your friends who doesn't want to participate, or your family members, want to film it. They can film it like the confessionals on survivor! They can interview different people and ask them why they think they are going to win and what they think of their team members, etc.... Make sure you do it away from others, so it will be a surprise when everyone watches it later.

Now, have the person doing Jeff's job announce the first reward challenge which can be for a prize. The challenge idea is from the link below:
WATER BRIGADE: I set this up along the sidewalk and had the two teams go different directions. On one end was a bucket full of water and on the other end an empty cup. The goal is to transfer the water from one bucket to the cup using small cups (the ones that come on the medicine bottles). They had to pass the cup to next player and so on until the cup was filled.

Send the teams back to camp and serve them rice and coconut slices! Now have someone deliver tree mail to the camps about the Immunity Challenge.
A great idea for this challenge is to get some random stuff such as: baseball bases, hula hoops, spare pieces of carpet... basically anything that can be stepped on, or in. Make sure to give both teams the same supplies. Make a start and end for both teams and give them the instructions. The goal of the game is to get your entire team to the end without stepping out of, or off of the supplies they've been given. If anyone does so, the entire team must go back to the start. Make sure you give them less supplies than there are team members, that way a lot of them have to crowd onto one item! The winning team gets immunity and gets to watch tribal counsel.

Tribal Counsel:
Set this up how you like... make sure no one gets their feelings hurt!

It would be really fun to have a food reward after that. Give everyone the same amount of monopoly money and let them bet on the food and cake you are serving. Make sure to have lots of kinds of stuff!

10 points?!

sample ways to ask for money instead of gifts for a wedding?

Zandra P

Instead of recieving gifts as a wedding present my fiance and I would like to recieve monetary gifts instead. I would like to know how could this be worded with my wedding invitations.

Answer
There are no sample ways that won't offend virtually every single person you invite.

1. Weddings are about celebrating your marriage, your friends, and your family. They are not a fundraiser.

2. You NEVER should include gift information in your invites anyway.

3. To ask for money is exceedingly tacky. First, it assumes that you are even getting gifts. Secondly, it is like asking people to prove how much they like you via money. Tacky Tacky Tacky

4. Even money dances are horrendous. Again, a wedding is a celebration, not a place where money should even be discussed. I dislike money trees, but at least a guest can walk right by it without a big too-doo.

If you need money for a honeymoon, set up a honeymoon registry. I would probably dump an invitation that included gift info and send only a card if it was begging for money. It just lacks class, etiquette, and common sense.

Dear Jane,

I'm having a birthday party next week and I'd like you to come. Don't bother bringing me a gift as all I really want is cash.

Signed,

Jenny

What to do at a a hotel sleepover/party? There will be guys at the party?

1800.Jessy

Mkay, so my friend is having a birthday party and she's renting a hotel suite. There will be guys at the party but obviously only the girls are stayingthe night. What are some fun things to at the party? Remember something the guys will like to. No perverted comments, please(: Also what are some things we could do during the sleepover( girls only) Age groups are like 13-15 and warning the guys are all skaters so something that wont get us kicked out of the hotel :D

Answer
You could call your friends over in the afternoon and stay outside in the garden. Get a pool, go in it and have a BBQ in the evening, have a picnic, lay in the sun and gossip, read magazines, take pictures

Someone mentioned about doing make-up: do a pampering session, face masks, cucumbers on the eyes, manicures, relaxing music, facial spas etc then a huge makeover for each girl and then loads of photos afterwards, you could do crazy makeup styles and dress up too, do your hair aswell and go crazy!

Watch a movie (make sure you all like it, a reason for conflict!) at night, order some takeout pizza, get loads of sweeties and popcorn and all get cosy infront of the screen.

Tell ghost stories and gossip, see who can stay up the longest!
If you have a Wii you can play a game with 4 people and alternate the controllers, a game like Wii Sports, Mario Party 8 or Mario Kart Wii is good! Or you can play board games, someone mentioned Twister which is the best game to play obviously! If you have it and want a more spooky game, buy a board game called Atmosphere/Atmosfear, its really good it has a video on it and its pretty spooky!
Cranium is an amazing game to play with a big group of people!

Pinata's are pretty good fun! (The thing you hit and sweets come out) it may seem kiddish but its cool and you get loads of sweets at the end!

Make a movie! We used to do that alot, we were a bit younger then you but it will be really cool with 9 people.. Have fun making a story line and playing around with accents and maybe even fun costumes, you can use a webcam if you want to stay at home or a video camera and go out places like your local park, woods or even a graveyard to film scary scenes, then plug it into your computer and edit the scenes and put them altogether with Windows Movie Maker!

If you have a big living room, shut the curtains, black out the windows turn the lights off, push the sofas outta the way and crank up some super loud music on the surround sound - its time for a disco!! Buy a cheap disco ball to put in the middle of your room (not a real one, just a funky lights one, something like this but bigger http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_jRRL0p_4W9I/SH⦠lava lamps or even hire some disco gear like smoke/bubble machines and dance dance dance! We used to have fun making up dance routines and such and then filming them!

If space is limited indoors and your mum is anxious about the furni, then buy a massive tent and camp outdoors! For my 14th birthday party we bought a huge tent and my lawn kinda slopes a bit, so we laid all our airbeds on the slope, and my brother brought his projector out and we all watched a film - it was hard picking one and we all kinda got angry with each other :S.. if you dont have a projector then using extension cables, bring your TV in the tent and watch a scary film! Perfect for the night outdoors! Bring loadsa cushions and blankets so its nice and warm, tell ghost stories and talk all night, just don't wake up your neighbours! We decorated our tent with glow-in-the-dark stick thingys, http://image.examiner.com/images/blog/wyâ¦
i don't know the real name for them you just crack them and they light up! It was really good fun!

Another fun game you could play is Murderer's in the Dark, i'm sure you've heard of it before! Its dark, someone is the seeker, you hide in the dark and someone has to find you all...
Or security guard which is wayy funner - pick two points in the room, starting and finish points, you have to journey across the room in the dark without getting caught by the security guard - someone who is patrolling the room with a flashlight
Or Blinds Man Bluff - a blindfolded person has to find everyone - you could play this in the pool too and it works great!

For breakfast, you can go all out with a massive fry up, or keep things simple with toast, choices of cereal and chocolate pancakes

How can i throw a great party?

great camping party ideas
on My little party planner - Camping party
great camping party ideas image

Brianne

My friend is leaving in a month for boot camp and we want to have a party for him before he goes. Kinda like a last wild night before he can't really do it anymore. He's eighteen so there will be underage drinking. Ages of other guests varies from 18-22. The party will be at a camp site with a pond we can swim in, a zip line, and teepees. It's a private site in the middle of the woods so nobody will hear it. What can we do to make it a great and safe party?

Answer
First, I recommend cutting off any swimming or zip lining once the sun goes down. With teenagers drinking and no light, those activities are way unsafe.
It would be nice if one or two people voluntarily stayed sober to watch out for anyone drinking too much too fast-most campsites are a little far away from the nearest emergency room. Alcohol poisoning should be avoided.
I would also have them watching out that anyone who decides to hook up is sober enough to give consent-that's another concern with underage drinking. Teenage girls do things they regret the next day when they're wasted, then they want to blame someone else. A supply of condoms for anyone who doesn't have one isn't a bad idea either.

What are some good party ideas for teens?

chyeaaa

I will be turning 15 soon and I need to plan my party. Keep in mind that:
I do not drink, do drugs, or anything like that, so anything related to that is out of the question.
The party will be at my house, so no ideas that have to do with other locations please.

Also, I am really into music. Any ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Answer
I would make it creative...
1. Dance party
2. 70's
3. "A day at the spa"
4. Sports party
5. Make-up party
6. Pool party
7. Carnival
8. Movie night
9. Picture night
10. "Camping" party

1= Dress up really cool and dance with lots of music playing. And have a dance off!

2= Have everyone dress like they are from the 70's. And talk all night with words like... Groovy, Narley, and wicked.

3= If you have a hot tub.. Have everyone get in. Then do facials, get Mani & Pedi, read magazines, and most of all RELAX!

4= Everyone dresses up as their favorite sports player. And you play soccer, basketball, tennis, badmitton, and lots more.

5= All of the girls bring make-up and you give eachother makeovers and take pictures.

6= If you have a pool, have a pool party! With lemonade, snacks, and more!

7= Have a bunch of mini-games and buy prizes to give people if they win. (Make sure everyone wins so no one is left out!!)

8= Rent a lot of movies, and watch them all night with your friends, and of course... have popcorn, soda, and candy!

9= If you have a camera, and dress up clothes, and makeup... have everyone dress themselves up in different outfits and different makeup and take lots of pictures!!

10= If you have a tent... set it up in your backyard and have a camp out! Make a pit and have a camp fire with marshmallows and make smores!(YUMMM) Also make sure you bring all your supplies out.. because no going back inside! Unless you have to go to the bathroom but you cant grab anything while in there!

I hope you have a great party and you have a blast! Tell me how it goes and what theme you are going to do! :) gooooood luck. (BTW happy birthday, whenever it is!) =]]]

Linda

I'm hosting a birthday party in two weeks. I 'd like to personalize it with a theme or something..any ideas?
Thanks a lot!

Answer
Hawaiian or a Movie theme.

For the Hawaiian theme:

For the preteen crowd, this tropical island theme can be a real hoot--particularly if you challenge arriving guests to use the 12 letters of the Hawaiian alphabet (a, e, h, i, k, l, m, n, o, p, u, w) to come up with fun new nicknames to go by. If you have a pool, you're golden. If not, set up a sprinkler that the kids can run through to cool off between the party games.

INVITATION
Aloha! Guests will know they're in for a fun ride when they get this invite. To make one, use a craft knife (adults only) to cut an 8-inch-long surfboard shape out of Fome-Cor (sold at most craft or art supply stores) or cardboard. Cut an identical shape out of colorful Con-Tact paper. Stick the Con-Tact paper to the top of the surfboard and print on a fun announcement with a black marker. Print the rest of the information on the back, including a reminder for guests to wear their favorite beach attire.

PARTY PHOTO
Hang Ten Poses Having your photo taken while you strike a dramatic surfing pose makes a fun icebreaker for this shindig. To set the stage, put on some inspiring music (any Beach Boys tune will do), then spread a blue tarp or blanket on the ground and place a folded-up ironing board on top of it. Guests can then take turns "riding" the board while you snap Polaroid postcards of them to take home as souvenirs.

PARTY CRAFTS
Paper Leis It wouldn't be a true Hawaiian celebration without colorful flower leis. You can either make them ahead of time and have your child distribute them as the guests arrive, or provide the supplies so the kids can make their own. First, trim the tops of colorful cupcake liners to resemble scalloped-edged flowers. Then cut a bunch of drinking straws into 1-inch lengths for spacers. Using a wide-eyed embroidery needle and twine, alternately sew through the centers of a bunch of flowers and string on straw sections. When the strand is long enough, tie together the string ends, and the lei is ready to wear.

TROPICAL TREATS
Skewer pieces of fruit, cheese, and meat with fancy toothpicks and arrange them on a pupu platter (that's Hawaiian for appetizer!). Blend together tropical fruits, juices, and ice for smoothies that your guests will go bananas over. Serve them in pretty glasses garnished with cocktail umbrellas. Top it off with this beach cake, sure to make a big splash!

ISLAND ENTERTAINMENT
Hula Hoopla Hawaiian partygoers will get a laugh out of giving this contest a whirl. Hand two of the kids hula hoops and see who can hula the longest. Then pose the challenge to two other kids. Once everyone has had a chance, have the winners of the first round face off against each other, and so on, until one kid is the victor. He or she wins a hula hoop!

Aloha VolleyPlayed with a beach ball (or even a balloon), this game puts a tropical twist on classic volleyball. Set up a net (or you can string a piece of clothesline between two stationary objects). Ask each team to come up with a fun name like the Invincible Islanders or the Volley-canoes. Explain that the object is to hit the ball back and forth according to standard volleyball rules. But instead of scoring points, teams are awarded letters to spell A-L-O-H-A. The first team to complete the word wins!

HAWAIIAN PARTY POINTERS
â¢Make your place look like a tropical paradise by decorating it with exotic paper or silk flowers, colored holiday lights, and paper lanterns.
⢠Set up a beach umbrella to create a shady spot where kids can get out of the sun. And have plenty of sunscreen on hand.
⢠Hawaiian Party Favors: Send guests home from this party in paradise with tropical trail mix (just add dried pineapple chunks and macadamia nuts to your favorite mix), shells, beach balls, or sunglasses.
---------------------------------------------------
For the Movie Theme:

Invitations:
Become a STAR with "birthday girl" (have pictures of glamour women on the front of the card)
Tell the guests to dress up as glamorous as possible (long gowns, high heels, lots of makeup, etc) Have extra accessories for those who wanted to be more glamorous.
Date:
Time:
Location:
RSVP to my manager

Additional Idea:
Purchased cards of girl, high heels, with sparkles on them.
Invitation Insert: Made. Printed a note asking parents to dress their little girls in their old bridesmaid dresses / prom dresses (that they just couldn't wear out in public again). And, added these lines for them to fill in: Stage Name, Favorite movie, Favorite actor, Favorite song.

Decorations:
Put a black paper tablecloth on the table and cover it with little gold stars. Use big gold stars from a paper supply store to use as place mats with black paper plates on top of them. Ring pops make great napkin rings with folded black paper napkins in a fan shape. Put them through the ring pop so they fan out like a bow tie. Place in the middle of the plate. Use black plastic utensils and hot glue rhinestones on them. Plastic champagne glasses can be used for Ginger Ale. Dress them up with gold curly ribbon around the stem.
Other decorations: See if you can get old movie posters. Hang white holiday lights and hang stars (can be made from foil on cardboard). How about a few directors chairs, one for the birthday girl with her name on the back of course!
Helium-filled balloons, thin-sparkle garland, foil stars, extra invitations

Cake & Food: Bake a cake in 9 x 13 pan, frost with white frosting. Put gold and silver foil wrapped kisses all around the edge of the cake so it would look like a marquee, and write Happy Birthday in red. (Super easy, but really cute) Use black glitter candles.

Goodie Bags: Fill up their goodie bags with remaining samples of make-up, bottles of nail polish, trial sizes of bubble bath, dark sunglasses, fake nails, and hair things. etc Also include a small notebook and pen...they will need to get each others autographs!

Games and Activities:

When girls arrive, collect the forms their parents filled out. Be prepared to fill one out if they do not have one.

Beauty Salon: Purchase lipstick samples, eye shadow samples, blush samples, perfume samples, ask an Avon or Mary Kay representative if they have any available. Set up a table with mirrors, Q-tips, tissues, all the above mentioned samples, and nail polish (which you can buy cheaply just about anywhere.) Tell the girls DO NOT share the makeup for sanitary reasons. For a party with younger girls, maybe you could ask teen girls to help out or enlist the help of the other moms to give the girls make-overs. Don't forget to take before and after shots of all the girls! Give the girls boas to wear.

Red carpet entrance: Purchase a red plastic tablecloth and folded it in half lengthways and use it as a runway. Announce each Diva from the form she turned in when she arrived. Stating, "And here is stage name, who recently starred in favorite movie with favorite actor. Stage name is also up for a Grammy for favorite song," as she made her entrance. A photograph can be made to commemorate the occasion. Holiday lights can be added to the edge of the runway for more effect.

Oscar presentation Paperdolls: Purchase inexpensive paper dolls with stands. Place each girls form into the "oscar" envelope after the red carpet entrance. One envelope per girl each with a different category written on them including best diva attire, best diva attitude, best leading actress, etc. Each girl wins an Oscar and a photo can be taken as she accepts her award.

Oscar decoration: Give the girls a chance to decorate their Oscars clothing.

Guess the Star - As each girl comes in the door put a name tag on her back with the name of a famous movie star (one that the kids would know). Then they have to find out who they are by asking the other guests questions. The other guests can answer any question, but must not reveal the name of the star. First girl to figure out who she is wins a prize.

Purchase some gold stars (12 inches) at a party store and some small, glittery letters. For each girl invited, label a star with the girls name, close to the top. Lay out the stars before the girls came (like Hollywood Blvd) then they can find them and have their Polaroid picture taken (in their glamorous finery). Next, tape/glue the picture to the center of the star and let each girl decorate it with glitter gel, small stars, etc.

Toilet Paper Chain Relay - Split guests up into 2 teams which stand in rows across from each other. The first person in each row has a roll of toilet paper. They have to put it through one sleeve and out the other and then on to the next person until the last person completes the chain.

Pin the Star on the Birthday Girl - Before the guests arrived trace your daughter on a large piece of paper. Give each guest a paper star and blindfold them one at a time. They have to stick the star on the picture of the birthday girl. The star closest to her heart is the winner. (Like pin the tail on the donkey)

Pull out the video camera and have the girls model, lip sync, karaoke or act out small skits.

College Graduation Facebook Invitation Etiquette - How do we decline and is a gift necessary?

Leah

My Aunt has invited us to another gathering for another one of her kids hoping for money or gifts, yet again. (She has 5 kids, 4 are adults and one has married and moved out.) This gathering happens to be for my cousin who is only a couple years younger than me. She graduated with a psychology degree from an online school and so her mom is throwing her a graduation party. The invites were through a Facebook invitation event but it's a super huge deal and everyone she knows is invited. I was under the impression that the huge graduation open houses ended after high school and that the college graduation celebrations were more immediate or supportive family and close friends.

Even though they are adults, my aunt throws each offspring birthday parties, graduation parties and other stuff. Even though we are all around the same age, my brother and I are considered separate units because we have both married and have both moved out from the parental units. So their unit of 6 send out Christmas cards and gifts together while my family has to send out 3 different sets for each person for each function because we have technically moved out and are our own families. Also, the kids are very ungrateful. In the past each kid has gotten a gift for these random parties and the Mom is the one to thank us. And when we showed up to this particular cousin's 21st birthday she ignored us and was rude to the people who she did talk to.

So putting aside their tackiness and rude behavior, what is the proper etiquette for all of us to decline this invite? Can my parents, my family and my brother's family go together with one "Congratulations" card even though we don't live together? Again, we're all around the same age as the cousins. Should money be put in it from all of us, even though they have a couple parties a year expecting money while we keep our graduations and birthdays within our immediate family?

Or do each of our family units send a "Congrats" card? And do we each put in money/gift yet again?

OR can we just decline the Facebook event with an apology, no cards, and no money sent?

Telling them to "shove it" sounds justified but I'm hoping for something closer to proper etiquette. Thanks!

Answer
This does all sound a bit much.

I take it your family are all of the same mind about this -- i.e. none of you particularly wants to go to this thing, let alone shell out yet more money; you're all a bit fed up of the constant gatherings, etc?

I see no reason whatsoever for money or other gifts to be given for a graduation for someone over the age of 21, particularly for some qualification gained from an online school. Perhaps I'm doing your cousin an injustice -- is it a proper Bachelor of Sciences degree?

I think it would be fine for just a card to be sent. I suppose she should really get 3 cards from each "unit", unless your parents wrote one on behalf of the whole family. You do need to reply to the invitation to the gathering, but a polite note on the card(s) regretting you will all be unable to be present would be okay.

My son is turning three next month and i was just needing some good birthday ideas for his party. There are going to be about 26-30 people there friends, family and some of our neighbors and such. My Sister thinks that's to many people and will overwhelm him there what do you think?

Answer
For a three year old, it may not be too many people if he likes a busy crowd, my kids always loved the more people the merrier. For his age, you should consider getting a jumper for the kids. It keeps them busy for hours and its not like a treasure hunt or a game with lots of rules. Another idea is a water party with little slip and slides and sprinklers and a little wading pool with lots of cheap beach balls and some plastic buckets and toy boats and little plastic alligators and other sea animals to play in the water with, kids this age love to play in the water with stuff like this. Plus with the warm weather it should be great. Have BBQ and picnic tables set up for the adults, get a cooler for Capri sun for the kids and just let them loose. If you do this, make sure to have the invitation say to wear swimsuit under clothes and bring towel. Good Luck.

Or you could have all four books on a cake, like the covers. If you aren't having that many people, you could just have some cute like lion and lamb cupcakes. http://images.marthastewart.com/images/content/tv/ms_living_tv/2007Q1/tvs9117_l.jpg

Invitations : "When you live forever, what do you live for? _____'s sweet sixteen!" Maybe you could make it look like a VIP movie ticket. You could just add some quotes from the books that could translate to a party.

Centerpieces : If money isn't a problem, you could get the flowers that were close to the one on the covers on new moon. They are called red and white parrot tulips. http://tulipsnmore.com/store//media/Tulips/ParrotTulips/ParrotTulipEstella.jpg Also a jar full of apples would look cool. If you could get some of the books from the library, you could set them up on the table.

Dress : You could have the prom dress that Bella had in the prom scene. Maybe you could even add a little cast on your leg :) Also the birthday dress in New Moon with some coverse would be cool. http://www.hellocosplay.com/tailor-made-twilight-bella-swan-blue-prom-dress-costume-p-972.html http://www.amazon.com/Twilight-Bellas-Green-Birthday-Party/dp/B002YAZC5W

I don't know what a Dais dress is....?

A drink that looks like blood and pin a kiss on (a cardboard cutout of) edward/jacob. You could give out a gift bag with the Cullen crest on it. http://www.gothicalchemist.com/catalog/CullenCrest-PINK1.jpg Also bobbing for apples would be fun. Maybe chess playing or baseball in the backyard.
