Immature 18th birthday party ideas?

Q. I'm wanting to throw a really fun bday party for my 18th bday... one idea i thought of was doing something immature since I'm supposedly becoming an adult (lol) ... i just need some good ideas! no drinking or anthing like that... a pary with a ton of friends! and something fairly cheap... thankyou!!

Answer
Slip & slide party! Invite all of your friends for the after noon and have the sprinklers and waterslide and everything. have water balloons and cake and ice cream. Have party hats and the matching table cloth. Make up little goodie bags. have a pinata and pin the tail on the donkey or musical chairs or soemthing. Send out invitations in the mail (I just got a pack of 10 for $1.50 at walmart in clearance that are super cute). This is what I'm doing for my step daughter's 6th bday party in a couple of weeks. Just think back to parties from when you where in elementry school.

Or

Have your friends over for a slumber party. Rent old movies that you watched when you were little (disney, casper, etc.) and have popcorn and fruit punch and chips and ice cream and cake. All of the good stuff. Have pizza for supper or all make your own. Do eachother's nails and makeup...play dress up. look at issues of J-14, teen, 16, etc. play truth or dare. Just have fun.

I love your idea. sounds like you'll have fun and have some good memories before all of you leave for college.

What would be a good idea for an 11 year old birthday party?

Olivia B

My little sister is having a birhday party. What would be a good inexpensive idea for a party?

Answer
Movie party theme for hall or at home. Have a movie themed party. They sell decoration kit and lots of decorations for this at oriental trading. com. If at home watch a cool movie, have popcorn and all kids of candy and junk food. Make or buy pizza and have sundaes. Have a sleep over with the girls if you want. Have a dance in a hall with this theme. Have everhyone wear a movie star costume. Favors: black gold metallic beads from oriental, directors clapboard photo keychain from oriental, sunglasses from oriental or windy city novelities (make sure to buy adult ones).

Luau, beach Hawaii: Orientaltrading has the coolest decorations and favors for this theme and the cutest tropical invitation in the bottle. Give your guests leis as they come in. Play Limbo, Hula hoop, and have a few grass skirts and everyone (including the guys) have to give hulaing a try. Again if you have room to do this at home or you can rent a small room. Tropical pinata. Twister. Hawaii site including games: www.alohafriendsluau.com. Cool invite: Flower lei and attach a printed invitation card.

Neon/Glow in the dark This is a cool theme!
invites:
For the invites oriental trading has neon badges. They are neon nylon necklaces that have a clear plastic case. You need to make the cards on your computer using the business card maker on your computer or just use the MS Word. You might want to put a really big VIP in color and on the back at the top Nicole's Neon Bash in cool color and font and then the party info, who what when.

Oriental trading sells Neon gangster hats.

favors:
Oriental sells neon sunglasses.
Oriental also sells neon jelly bracelets
Glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces, lot of sites have these.
Neon Twist and Glow lollipops.
Neon nail polish u.s. toy company
Neon lazer candy (just like pixie sticks but in neon)
Neon slap bracelet at u.s. toy company
Decorations:
More neon themes go along with Glow in the dark.

windy city novelties has neon tablecloths, cups, napkins. Just type neon in their search bar.

Balloons:
Shindigz has black light sensitive neon latex balloons. Again put neon in their search bar.

Shindigz also sells a neon lights personalized banner.

Oriental trading sells a neon fringe banner

Oriental trading sells neon balloon weights for the balloons you buy.

Party cheap has neon party horns and garland.

Glow in the dark sites:
glow source
shop.glogames.com Lots of games here.
Light God

U.S. toy company sells neon body glitter.
Windy city novelties sell lumi balloons that are balloon with lights in them.

Large neon party pack (kinda expensive) at windy city novelties.

So to search for neon and glow items go to all the party sites ands put that in the search bar:

Other appetitizers.

Taco Dip:
2 softened cream cheese.
1 16oz sour cream
1 packet taco seasoning.

Mix with mixer. Put in bottom of a cookie sheet. Top with shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and green onions. Use the cheese but you can altered the rest to your taste, maybe add black olives. Make 2 of these. Serve with tostitos scoops.

PUPPY CHOW
6 cups Crispix cereal
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup butter
12 ounce chocolate chips
2 cups powdered sugar
Melt peanut butter, butter and chocolate chips together in the microwave or on the stove. Stir into cereal. Put powdered sugar in a paper sack. Put cereal mixture in and shake until well coated.

Silver Dollar Sandwiches:
These are silver dollar rolls made by your bakery in the grocery store. We have them in our store just ready to grab, for large orders call ahead for some. Anyway they are perfect for parties, hand size, neat. You buy shaved ham, beef and turkey. You put lettuce on if you want and some cut cheese into triagles and put on. Also put real butter on on side of the bun inside of course. And have mustard and mayo packets on ice in case anyone wants that.

GAMES:
Twister
limbo
get a pinata that matches a theme if you choose a theme.

Put a certain number of candies in a pie plate, fill with cool whip or whip cream and guests have to hold their hands behind their back and find the candies to win a prize.

Spongebob birthday party ideas?

Dahlia

My daughter wants to have a spongebob birthday party for her 6th birthday. I think we're going to have a guy in a spongebob costume do the party because she really wants that and there is a really cool spongebob cake at the local grocery store, so those are taken care of, but now I need other party ideas.

We did a pirate party for her 4th birthday and we did a mini treasure hunt with treasure maps and one of the treasures were plastic gold coins buried in the sand box. I think that would fit this theme too so I may do that again, but any other ideas for the party? Either ideas for games or decorations or foods or anything. :-)
Ooh, clarinets would be neat, but I think I might be cursing you by the end of the party! The kids will make sooo much noise with them! :-)

Answer
Invitations: cut the shape of a pineapple from yellow cardstock and glue the green crown cut from green cardstock. Write the party details, put inside blue envelopes along with a small amount of sand or sea confetti, seal and mail out, or if possible, hand-deliver inside plastic bottles.
Decor: outside place a sign (use cardboard) saying âBikini Bottomâ with an arrow pointing to the party area. Have lots of blue, green and transparent balloons (to resemble bubbles), hang blue streamers to resemble waves and green streamers to resemble marine algae. Scatter seashells, sea cookies, faux pearls or just sea confetti on the tables. (If you find big seashells, use them as centerpieces). Rent a bubble machine, if possible, it will add a nice effect. If your daughter have sea toys (fish, shark, sea horse...) use them as decor also (or you can diy from construction paper, cardstock, any paper. You can also tape them on the walls). Play SpongeBob soundtrack or episodes of the show (in mute or no) in the background.
Food: make Squidwarms treats - take gum balls with a bit of frosting, then cut twizzlers in 2 or 3 inches and stick ten pieces in each gum ball. Draw little eyes with black or brown icing (or even smaller candies).
serve goldfish crackers inside sand pails, Mr. Krabs patties (hamburgers), mini sandwiches (p&b, cream cheese, deli meat) in the shape of sea creatures (and even SpongeBob) using cookie cutters (do the same thing with the cookies). Seashell-shaped pasta with spinach strips (to simulate marine algae) inside individual bowls. Bake cupcakes with yellow frosting and stick SpongeBob toppers. For drinks, serve a blue or green punch, pink lemonade (call it "jellyfish's drink"), pineapple juice (of course!) inside pineapple sippy cups: http://www.amazon.com/Hawaiian-Pineapple-Sipper-Cup-Pack/dp/B004GBGG5M/ref=pd_sbs_op_2
Games: the treasure hunt is a good idea, but instead of just plastic coins, also put in a box (the chest) chocolate coins, candy necklaces, ring pops.
Favors: fill little yellow boxes or bags (or small sand pails) with SpongeBob related stuff: small bottles of bubble, stickers, coloring books, mini squirt toys and mini water games (you find everything in discount stores). If you want to give out something different, this one was at my cousin's party: cut sponges into shapes of squares, circles, rectangles, triangles and starfish, added some little bottles of washable paints, a small sketch pad and a paint brush. Put them inside blue cellophane bags and tied with a green ribbon. Everyone loved it.

speech ideas for a party???? please help?

Kirsten

my grandma is having her 70th on june 7th and my family is having a huge surprise party for her. i am supposed to be saying something, as in a speechish kinda thing. i can't sing, i can't write poems (and i looked online but most poems were for funerals or poems from 4 year olds) i could write a story or something but idk what to write about. any ideas r appreciated.

Answer
Thank for the invitation to give a birthday speech.

Congratulate the person whose birthday it is.

THE BIRTHDAY PARTY ITSELF

Mention a nice, funny or emotional moment at the party till now.

If you are one of the people who organized the party: look ahead. What's coming up next? Lunch, dinner, you are moving to another location, room or place later this day or evening, other speakers, maybe mystery guest?

Mention the special circumstances, if appropriate. For instance think about the weather, the location, the number of people who are attending the birthday party, and so on. Look around and use your imagination.
What age? Is it a jubilee year? Is it a 18th, 21st, 40th, 50th, 60th or a 70th birthday speech, or even a 80th, 90th or 100th? Did she said something herself about reaching this age? Mention this unique number and its merits and uniqueness.

Glance back at the past years of her life. Can you name some special facts or insight stories about the place and date of birth? To broaden your range of possible topics for a birthday speech:

* What happened today in history?
* Are there memorable events on the date of birth?
* Was she born at a special place?
* Is she happily married? Describe this relationship.
* Children, grandchildren?
* Other notewirthy developments within the scope of the family ties? Mention those themes and don't forget to congratulate her family.

ROAST A LITTLE BIT

Tease and roast the celebrant, but avoid any personal speech topics that might upset the celebrant or a guest.

Roast the birthday girl or boy a little bit. Can you characterize her personality?
What have other people said about her?

Mention her talents, hobbies or passions.

Are there noteworthy developments or achievements in her work and career? What has she always wanted to be?

What are her pet topics?

What are her values of life? How does she propagate them?

Creativity needed for birthday invitations for 9 year old boy.?

smile

Okay...I'm trying to be creative and I'm getting there but my patience is running thin right about now so I ally need your help. My son's 9th b-day is coming up and we bought a package of sports themed paper to print the invitations with. So now I need to come up with something to say for the invitation. The paper is is 8 1/2 x 11 with a 2" border all around. Of course I need stff like his name, that it's a b-day party date, time, location etc... but all that doesn't fill in all the space. According to the sample, there is about 18 lines utilized incl. blank lines for spacing...but the sample is for a Fall Carnival and it ins't too much help. I know someone out there is in a better, more creative mood than I am in right now. Thanks!
I should add that he is in his 5th season of little league football and will be having a sports themed moonwalk for the entertainment. Thanks!

Cool Birthday Party Ideas For 11 Year Olds?!?!?

Itz Emilyy

Okay...so i need party ideas for a 10 (turning 11) Year old girl! the birthday is in the winter, so nothing outdoors! also she is very girly...thx!

Answer
2 ideas: Makeover Sleepover Birthday Bash or Mystery Party

1) I threw a Bratz Makeover Sleepover Birthday Bash for my daughter's 9th birthday but can easily be used for an 11-year-old. I had a friend in Mary Kay give me some make-up samples but all the girls brought their own make-up (which was actually suggested on the invitation--for health reasons) and any dress-up clothes they wanted to wear. The girls arrived to the house and went upstairs to my daughter's room and got dressed up (in each others' clothes, by the way!) We then went to the bathroom and did each other's make-up in the mirror. (I had a long bathroom w/ room enough for all the girls to stand in front of the mirror.) After the makeover, the girls stood at the top of the stairs and one by one were INTRODUCED and they got to model their way down the catwalk and over to a backdrop I had set up complete w/ lights and props and balloons and streamers to have their modeling portraits taken by myself. (I happen to be a photographer but you don't have to be one to do this. You could even hire a college photo student to do it if you must!) Afterwards, we all ate pizza and had cake and ice cream and watched movies (typical sleepover stuff). In the morning we had breakfast (frozen waffles or microwave pancakes will work) and decorated 4x6 matte board frames I got from Hobby Lobby. Any place w/ a frame shop will do. Ask the framer where they keep the simple 1" wide 4x6 mattes--very inexpensive. I had my husband go out and print the 4x6s off my PC card from the camera at the kiosk at Walgreen's so the girls would have PROOF of their modeling experience to put in their frames. Also, because it was a Bratz party, I bought little fashion boot mugs and filled them w/ appropriate party favors and wrapped each in iridescent paper for their goody bags.

2) I threw a Mummy Mystery Party for my daughter's 10th birthday. I went online and bought a mystery party script for $15. It came complete w/ posters to print, invitations, and script for the party. I embellished and designed my own invitations and decorations but you don't have to. Each person received an invitation which told them which character they were to play and suggestions for costumes. When the guests arrived (and they were told to be prompt b/c these types of parties are very structured--YEA, STRUCTURE!!) I took individual photos of them in their costumes (to print and send in the Thank You cards). Afterwards, they were told why they were invited to the "British Museum"(our house)--to see the newest treasures discovered by the Professor. Well, of course, one of the treasures went missing and someone there was the culprit! It was the job of everyone to figure out WHODUNIT by interrogating each other and searching the house in teams for clues hidden before the guests arrived. There was a built-in break for food and cake and then the party resumed so that the culprit could be named. The kids all said it was the BEST party they had ever been too and the PARENTS were even talking about it weeks later! I got LOTS of kudos for that party!

Ideas for a Cinderella themed 5 year old birthday party?

peace*love

Hi! I am running my mom's friend's daughter's 5 year old birthday party next saturday. I'm 13 and I'm doing it with the help of my best friend. We need some ideas for games and activities 5 year olds might like playing that have to do with cinderella. We are going to show off the birthday girl's dance she made up to "Bibbidi Bobbodi Boo" and do their hair all pretty for sure.

Answer
Invatations.

You can find cheap Cinderella invatations on Ebay.
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_trkparms=65%253A12%257C66%253A2%257C39%253A1%257C72%253A2471&_nkw=Cinderella+invitations&_dmpt=UK_Home_Garden_Celebrations_Occasions_ET&_nkwusc=Cinderella+invatations&_rusck=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_sop=15&_sc=1

If there blank inside create your own message saying something like "You are cordially invited to a Royal Celebration for ______ Birthday"

Decor.

The colors of choice are icy blue, pink, lavender and white.
Cover the tables white or pink table cloths and icy blue table runners. (or vice versa)
Sprinkle blue, pink and silver sequins, candies or beads down the center. Use frosted cupcakes place in a cupcake stand, as your centerpiece with helium balloons.
If you can cover the chairs in white chair back && blue ribbons (in a bow)
Silver Balloons && streamers.
Possibly a balloon arch by the enterance? or a home made castle gate?
(if you have time) Attempt to make a large castle. (Link below says how)
Lots of twinkling lights (even use last years xmas lights)
Bubble machine?
Put bottles of bubbles the kids can blow at the tables.

Games.

Dress your birthday princess up before the party, with a Cinderella tiara and jewelry. Announce the guests upon arrival and escort them to the royal preparation table, where they will receive a small amount of lipstick, blush and eye shadow. If you have not already suggested the girls wear their favorite dress-up dress...provide a box of special dress up clothes and a mirror.

Face Painting.

The fairy Godmother has lost her magic wand!
Before the party hide toy wands in the party area.
The object of the game is to find a wand before the clock strikes twelve. Give the girls an appropriate amount of time to find a wand and then begin striking a bell twelve times.

Play classical music or the soundtrack from Cinderella while the girls dance. When the girls here the clock chime (bell), they must freeze

Cinderella colouring in.

Before the party, write the names of Cinderella characters on several 3x5 cards; stepmother, step sisters, prince, fairy godmother...
To play, tape the cards onto the girls backs, so that they cannot see their own character. The object of the game is to identify who is on your back, by asking yes/no questions of the other players.
Example:
Am I a girl ? Boy? Am I nice?
Do I have magical powers?

Hope this helps!

Have fun!

American Girl Doll Party Theme for my daughter turning 7 on April 1st...?

Apple Blos

We always throw a big party for my daughter, she is our only child so we usually can do it up. And she will be turning 7 years old on April 1st.

I never had parties growing up so it's super important for me to let my daughter know how important she is to us and throw her a big party. That being said, my husband was laid off recently, we were going to be living in our new home but lost the house because of the layoff, so we live in a large sized basment of my mom n laws.

We have a very small budget for this upcoming party to be.

She is set on having an American Girl Doll Party. She got Molly from AG's from Christmas and hasn't let it down since.

So I am searching for any inexpensive ideas on having a party in this theme. I know she is from the WWII era, so patriotic would be cute. But things like games and crafts I'm at a loss.

I don't want to let her down, things have been super rough for us and I want to do this for her, so ANY/ALL ideas welcomed!

We usually just invite family and that is like around 12-15 kids of all ages. And usually their parents as well as aunts and uncles.

THANKS!!!!

Answer
I am very sorry your husband lost his job. I am very happy you are trying to fulfill her wishes.

As some ideas for a Molly Party, there is a Molly Mystery Birthday Kit you can purchase. It includes everything from plates to cups to doll cups and plates to even the favors. The bad thing: It's a kit for 8. Maybe you could talk to your daughter into just picking 7 friends or cousins and then having just adults from your family come and have them eat on matching plates you buy at the store that are the same color as the Molly stuff.

Here is everything it includes:
Reading secret clues, cracking codes, tracking down culpritsâgirls can enjoy the suspense with this all-in-one mystery party, featuring planning tips, decorations, place settings, favors and activities, and thank-you cards for follow-up:

Planning Tools

* 1 party-planning guide
* 8 invitations and envelopes

Decorations

* 1 vinyl tablecloth (W: 54" x L: 108")
* Plastic stars and dots table confetti
* 2 silver-star waterfall table decorations
* 3 rolls of crepe paper
* 3 sets of hanging paper character stars
* Hat-box platform
* Doll stand
* Doll balloon

Place Settings

* 8 star placemats
* 8 sets of girl-sized dinner plates, dessert plates, cups, forks, and spoons
* 8 sets of doll-sized plates, cups, and sporks
* 8 sets of girl-sized napkins and napkin rings (rings double as ponytail holders)
* 8 sets of doll-sized napkins and napkin rings (rings double as ponytail holders for dolls)

Favors and Activities

* 8 sets of favor bags with ribbon handles, tissue, name tags, and sticker sheets
* 10 table talkers featuring trivia questions
* 8 compact mirrors (used to read answers on table talkers)
* 8 copies of A Spy on the Homefront: A Molly Mystery paperback book
* 1 Mollyâs Mystery Party Game
* 1 party memory book

Follow-up Supplies: 8 thank-you postcards

The girls will get to solve a mystery "with" Molly and it is very fun. I have never done it, but I heard it's great.

The price is $65 for the complete kit, and it's on sale (org. price $105). I don't know if that fits in your budget. If not I'm sure you can create a game like this on your own, using the same basic ideas.

Here is the link if you wish to buy it:
http://store.americangirl.com/agshop/html/ProductPage.jsf/itemId/86916/itemType/SET/webTemplateId/3/uniqueId/312/saleGroupId/332/SingleProductPage/true

I just read it is sold out, but maybe if you call, you can see when they are getting more!

Good luck and I hope your husband finds a new job soon!

Suggestions for daughter's first birthday party?

firsttimem

We are on a tight budget this month, so I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas for making this a great birthday for my beautiful baby girl who deserves everything. I could use advice on gift ideas, decorations, as well as what kind of cake we should get her.

Answer
I know how you feel. We went crazy for our daughter's first and now we have scaled it down. Now I always try to think of ways to save money and still make it fun & unique:

Make your own cupcakes/cake.

Make your own invitations.

For your theme, you don't have to get everything with the character on it. For ex., my son just had a Mickey theme, and I found printables online (playhousedisney.com). Also, I bought a few character items, but bought different colored untensils, plates, etc. to coordinate (red, yellow, black & white for Mickey)

Have it at home or at a park. At home, plan some games for older kids and/or adults. At the park, there is a playground for kids, so that's free entertainment.

Orientaltrading.com has great deals on all party supplies & favors.

Check out ebay for great deals on favors, supplies, etc.

I try to make my own food for the party.

Enlist friends & family to help: my mom helps with food, my sister helps with entertaining (she's very artistic so one year she face-painted the kids)

If you want to splurge on one thing & make it really special, we had a caricature artist for her first & everybody loved it. We had Dan the Cartoon Man (search him on yahoo) and he was awesome!

For party favors, I try to find unique items b/c kids get too much candy and knick knack that they always throw out anyways. Hand puppets, books, personalized crazy straws (search online), etc.

Be creative & have fun!

Answer
I think u should do this:
It's my birthday, so lets party!!!
who
where
when
what you will be doing during the party

Then, decorate it with doodles, sequins, paintings, whatever u want!!!! u could also roll it up and put it in a bottle, fold it into origami, glue or tape it to a bigger piece of paper, give it a border....
there are about 2 billion other things you could do but there are some starters.

Hope this helps!!!!

Is this tacky... childs birthday party invitations?

Nina Lee

I decided to give in to his persistence and let him have his (4th) birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's.

Is it tacky to write something to the effect of "children's lunch will be served" on the invites?????

Also... do you pay for the adults???

(We are expecting approx 16 children and 20+ adults.)
Served isn't the word I'm looking for. Can someone help me out?
provided... that's the one, lol
Is it tacky though or understood?
I'm looking at over $200 for the kids alone.

Answer
Actually it's generally understood that when a child is invited to a Bday party at a child's place such as Chuck E. Cheese, lunch is included. it wouldn't be tacky to write that on the invites, but it isn't necessary, I don't think.

As far as adults go, NO WAY!!
You pay for the children invited and that's it....not even the siblings of the invitees. Just be sure to address the invitation to the child you are inviting instead of the "Baker family" or whatever. When I invite children to my kids' parties, I always address the envelope with only the child's name on the front so there is no confusion about whether or not all of the children in the family are invited. This may sound mean, but in reality, why would my turning nine year old son want a three year old little girl at his party just because the older brother is there?
If parents MUST bring the other children (or themselves) , they should expect to have to pay the way of the other child, right?

Have fun:-)

If you are unable to find any online, you could always make your own. Try finding images on Google. Microsoft Works Task Launcher has an option for making cards under Templates, and instead of making a card just make an invitation. :)

Right wording for buffet lunch party invitation?

SAHMof2

I am having my sons 5 year birthday party at our local pizza place. I am reserving the party room, and will be serving cake and ice cream. I am doing it for lunch time and children 5 and under (all of his friends) will eat buffet free, but the parents will need to pay for their own buffet lunch. How do I word this in the invitation? It is a surprise lunch party and here is the wording I have for it as of now.

"Please join us for a surprise lunch for (my son) 5th birthday party! We will have cake and ice cream and fun!"

Do I need to put in that kids eat free? that the parents will be paying for themselves?

Answer
Write the Invitation the normal way using the word "SURPRISE" on it.
DATE -
TIME -
PLACE - (It is also always good to draw a map on the back of the invitation or include one on a separate piece of paper.)
FOR - (Example: Sally's Surprise 8th Birthday Celebration! Shh! Please.)
RSVP - (With names, phone number and an email address and put, "Please respond by _(date)_____ so we can expect you." )

Then right under RSVP's information (from the center & space below, write in caption letters) - "Children's Lunch Will Be Provided With 2 Sliced of Pizzas, Drinks, and 20 Tokens, Plus Cake with Ice Cream."
If stated properly, the adults will get it. Beside it isn't rude, most parent understand this & will pay for themselves. We all been there before & you aren't last asked about this. (Here a trick, if parent want to eat ask the Manger @ Pizza Parlor for a free coupons or discount coupons so that you can give to parents, if they decided to eat., Do this before the party so you can be ready to give out free coupons to the parents @ arrival to your child's party.)

Birthday party invitation ideas?

I stopped doing the whole by scratch thing a few parties and 2 kids ago. Now, I let the kids pick a few things that I make...the rest is store bought or bought handmade from other people.

My daughter picked the invitations & cake for me to make for her 10th. She is having a Little House on the Prairie party. The cake is easy...I am making little covered wagons out of apple spice cake.

I have no real ideas about the invitaitons though....I need ideas! Thanks!

Answer
Get a print out of a covered wagon and have your daughter color them in...write info on the back and send it...

16th birthday party ideas?

random gir

so for my 16th birthday(i'm a girl), i don't want a big party thing (like a bat mitzvah) i wan't something different. a lot of my friends are doing dinner in the city (new york) so i want to do something unforgettable. I need a few ideas on things to do. But i already ruled out some stuff like the spa and a water park. i won't get into a lot of detail about what i like so some basic ideas are fine. thank youuuu!

Answer
Dance Party
Cut music notes out of black paper, write the party information on them using a white pencil and send them out as invitations. Move furniture out of the room where the party is going to be held to create a dance floor. Tape CD cases with various singers onto the walls. Put streamers all around the room that are the birthday girl's favorite colors. Hang an inexpensive disco ball from the ceiling. Create a mix of the birthday girl's favorite music for the guests to dance to. Make homemade pizza and snacks for the guests to munch on between dances.

Hollywood Party
Cut a large star out of a piece of white construction paper to make invitations. Remember to let the guests know that this is a Hollywood party and they should dress accordingly. Hang magazine pictures of famous Hollywood stars around the party room. Host a pretend award show, having the birthday boy make up categories and give out handmade awards to his winning friends. Categories can include most creative evening wear and best hairstyle, or create awards specific to his friends' personalities. Serve food inexpensive food such as pasta or meatballs. Serve the guests' soft drinks in plastic champagne flutes.

Outdoor Party
Glue leaves and sticks around the edge of piece of cardstock and write party information in the middle to spread the word about thisparty. Decorate an outdoor party area with tiki torches and helium-filled birthday balloons. Lay out decorative blankets for guests to sit on. Set up different stations where kids can play such games as badminton, croquet and horseshoes. Have a water-balloon toss right before the food is served. Grill hot dogs and hamburgers and make s'mores over the barbecue.

Formal Birthday Party Invitations?

barso*re*m

i've decided what I wanna do for my b'day party....but the thing is...i want it to be a little more on the formal side...dresses, skirts, nice tops that sorta thing. Now how do I say that politely in my invitation?

Answer
you could be cool, and say something like:

"time to strut your stuff and be the prettiest you can be! come in mildly formal wear and be prepared for a nice time. no heels required, but skirts would be great! hope you can make it, it's gonna be a blast!"
and then include your information. if they have questions then include your number. i'm actually thinking about having a very similar party so feel free to email me. i'd love to get planning ideas from eachother!
have fun and happy birthday.

jackie

I'm having my 13th birthday party in about 3 weeks and I want to make homemade invitationss. any good ideas??

-has to be easy to make and has to be really really really cute :D-

Answer
A quick, easy, and fun way to create your party invitations is to go CropMom.com at http://www.cropmom.com. Cropmom is a online digital scrapbooking, collage, card making site.

Upload your photos. Make your invitation using them. You can add your own text. There are thousands of graphics to choose from to create your invitation. The site has graphic kits organized by themes. The tutorials should be helpful.

Then save it. Go to My CropMom and click on the layout. Then click the "share" link. It'll let you enter the email address of the recipient, and your screen-quality invitation will be sent via email for free.

For print-quality, you can purchase a JPEG file of your creation (it doesn't cost much-less than $2) and download it to your computer.

From here, you can either print your invitation at home. Or have them printed by a photofinisher.

Father's 80th Birthday Party?

David

My wife's parents are cuban. They have 3 children; two daughters and 1 son. The son was born in the United States. The three children got together (one of which is my wife) to give their father a "80th-birthday party." Their mother was given the job of making, and mailing, the birthday invitations.

When we got OUR copy of the invitation, it stated that their "son and his wife" were throwing a birthday party for his dad. There was NO mention of the two daughters being any part of this party.

My wife, and her sister, of course - WERE FURIOUS! Their mother reminded them that "the son comes first" in a Cuban family. My wife asked "what about HIS wife?" Well, she is cuban (she was also born in the USA). So That Makes It "All Right..."

I am not Cuban, nor is my brother in law. So we are invisible to the eyes of her parents. AND our kids, too. Not cuban... The brother-in-law's daughter was born in the USA too. But SHE is their ONLY grandchild, and Cuban, too...

What do you think of this?

Answer
Think of it? It stinks. Ignoring the contributions of anybody, especially someone you're supposed to love, stinks. Of course, that gets you nowhere, because...

...you can't change the way someone else thinks. It's been explained to Mom that she hurt your wife, and your sister-in-law, and left out his wife, and you, and... And Mom didn't get it. Doesn't want to get it.

So what to do? Go to the party and have a good time. If anyone mentions how great everything is, say, "Yes, my wife and her sister put in a lot of work on this." Show that you are proud of your wife and her sister, no matter who else elects to ignore them.

Let's put it this way - my husband's family is very clannish. When his grandparent's 50th anniversary rolled around, it was just before our wedding. His aunt elected to omit me from the huge family portrait, because I wasn't family. To some of them, I'm not family even now, just part of the "ladies' auxiliary." Why let it chap me? My husband loves me, and thinks I'm very important, and respects me.

Show your wife how proud you are of her (and it wouldn't hurt to throw a bone to your sister-in-law) - a better use of your time than futilely trying to drag the cavepeople out of the stone age. Good luck!

80th Birthday Party Ettiquette-Invitations to Those Who Cannot or Will Not Attend?

Sarah

My grandmother is turning 80 in a few months and I would like to have a special celebration for her. The problem is, most of the people she is close to live far away and don't have very much money. I know many of them will not be able to attend. Her favorite relatives who live closer also will not attend due to religious reasons.

I would like to invite all of her friends and family anyway. By doing so, I hope that possibly someone might feel inclined to jump on a plane. I would also like the invitation to serve as a reminder that this special event is about to happen. Is it acceptable for me to send invitations to people I have never met, but who I know can not attend? Also, it it acceptable for me to send invitations to relatives who do not celebrate birthdays because of religious beliefs?

My worst fear is that I will attempt to throw this fabulous party and nobody will be able to attend besides immediate family that she sees every day. I'm afraid it would depress her.

Answer
Send invitations to everyone that knows and loves your grandma and wants to celebrate her life. Put a small piece of paper in each and have each person write a memory they have of your grandmother. Also, you could ask for pictures anybody would be willing to donate. Have everyone send these items to your address (along with an RSVP) at least a week or two before the party so you can make a scrapbook for your grandma. This will be a nice way to let her know that even though some of her friends could not make it, they were still thinking of her.

Sixteenth Birthday Party?

kid

Ok, im turning 16 this May, and I want to have a party with 8-15 kids, depending on the party. I have been really looking into a paintball party, but it seems to be getting really expensive. I need some other ideas for a birthday party. Please give me a bunch of ideas or experiences you have of a fun birthday. Thanks!

Answer
Cool. 16th birthday parties are the best some ideas R:

reserve a local skating rink for a private party.

retro- birthday party is a very popular birthday theme nowadays. The invitation cards can be written on cards and attached to the big sunglasses of the 1950s. This will make it different from the regular boring invitation cards. The guests can be asked to dress up in the fashion of the 1950s like poodle skirts, leather jackets and glitter tops. Big golden wigs can also be worn. You can also arrange for a juke box and a soda corner to further spice up the party. Popular music of the 1950s can be played to create the mood.

A starlit musical night party can be a sweet sixteen birthday party idea. The party can be arranged in your garden or backyard on a full moon night. If there are not much stars in the sky, then you can intensify the mood by using wax candles for lighting instead of electric light. You can also have a music corner where songs can be played and dedicated on request.

Dance parties would do great if itâs a co-ed party. Select some of your daughterâs favorite numbers and decorate the place with disco lights and mirror balls. You can even take the guests to a nearby nightclub, or hire a DJ to your place.

Beach parties are always fun in summer. Beach games and good beach music to dance to would make the party something your 16 year old would love

Hope I helped a little
well anyway happy 16th birthday!!

i was just wondering if any one had any good ideas of things we could do to make it special as it is kind of like a leaving thing for some of the girls..

it doesnt have to be too fancy though..

thanks !!!
xx

Answer
im having an old fashioned tea party (with 10, 14 year old girls too lol), evryone's getting really dressed up, then like we'll all get changed into really nice pjs in the evening and roast mashmallows on a fire and stay up really late talking, having fun, doing whatever! i was thinking like a breakfast eaten outside in our courtyard then maybe a waterfight and relaxing, lying in and sunbathing.

take LOADS of photos, im gonna have races after the tea party, like egg and spoon but with tea cups and make up other stuff like that. we're gonna play croquet and maybe badminton. for prizes im going to give out knickers from la senza!

string up loads of fairy lights and lanterns and balloons for decorations, it would look cool, that's what im doing. it doesn't have to be fancy but it would look pretty amazing (i've been having these parties sinse i was like seven).

im english but im guessing that you're american and this is a leaving party for juniour high? idk mines gonna be for my 14th birthday (its right at the end of the summer!).

Unique 13th birthday party ideas?

Gracie

Not something like a big sleepover, but a little bit more unique. I was thinking about doing a scavenger hunt at the mall and then come back home and eating ice cream/cake and doing all that birthday-stuff. If I do, what could be some things on the list to find?

Answer
Scavenger hunt sounds really fun!
No money hunt:
set a time to meet up somewhere and who ever has most of these items wins!!:

- Get 5 perfume samples
- 3 napkins with different names on them
- A business card
- A restaurant menu
- Candy bar wrapper
- An atm envelope
- 3 bags with a different store name on it
- A magazine

Look at this for invites!:

here's another idea:

Alphabetic Mall Scavenger Hunt
For this hunt each team is allowed to spend a certain amount ($10-$15).

Each team tries to find one item that begins with each letter of the alphabet and buy it. They must also bring back everything they bought. They need to come back within a certain time and whoever has the most letter items wins. If it is a tie whoever has most leftover change wins! for every minute someone is late, subtract 10cents from their change.

If you want you can have a money one (15-25$ per team)

- 4 inch or longer earrings
- Something with another country's flag on it
- Bright green, orange, pink, yellow or blue mascara
- A birthday card that "sings"
- A pair of underwear with writing on it
- Grey nailpolish
- A non-websters dictionary
- A CD made in your b-day year
- A bottled drink thats not water
- a pink bouncy ball

Is it bad etiquette for a Birthday Party?

Audrey

To ask guests to pay for their childrens passes instead of presents? Its my sons first birthday and we want to have it at a local working farm set up for kids (pony rides, hayrides, petting zoo... etc.) Its going to cost over 200 bucks. :( i really have no where else fun and safe to have it as im in out of state since all of our family and freinds are here. and how would i go about asking for this on the invitations?

Answer
I wouldn't mind but technically its not good etiquette. You could ask your closest friends and family if they would like to help pay for the party instead of giving a gift, but not every guest. You would need to ask them in person or over the phone, not on an invitation. Just say, whatever you planned to spend on a gift would you be just as happy to give me the money instead so I can put it towards the party. Also be prepared for people to say no and you have to pay the whole thing. Don't expect them to give you money just because you asked. They should be able to give the gift they want and feel good about it. As long as you are just giving them the option to give it as a gift, I think its fine. Be prepared for people to tell you, you simply shouldn't spend so much on the birthday party. You may want to wait until your child's second birthday party for the petting farm because he will be able to enjoy it so much more and it will be safer for him. Have you talked to the farm owners about cutting you a deal? There is usually a group discount for things like that.

Alice in Wonderland themed birthday party?

Erin

I'm having an Alice in Wonderland themed birthday party for my 14th birthday. I googled it and it didn't come up with much. I'm thinking for the invitations, I'll take a small bottle, roll up the invite, put it in the bottle and put "read me" on the bottle. if anyone has ideas about food games or decorations, that would be great. Thanks!

Answer
you can have your drinks marked as ''drink me'' and you can bake snacks that say ''eat me'' you can dine like how the mad hatter does. switch places all the time.....and you can even have that race..what was it called again??? the cacus rae was it?? where everyone runs in different directions. this sounds crazy but you could also have a petting zoo, let loose if your having it in your back yard maybe. like chickens, rabbits, lambs, and piglets....all running around.
loads of ballons.....
for games you could try this one... play really loud music....place team A in one corner and team B in another corner .... team A has a list on nonsensical sentences.... and they should read the sentences out loud to team B, while the Bs try to write the sentences down.... each member should have a different list...and each member in B their own writing utensils. and example of a nonsensical sentence could be ''it rains when clouds are pink'' ''my father's brother's daughter is five foot three'' all this should be done while loud music is playing....

1st Birthday party invitations?

LOLeah

How many people did you invite to your LO's 1st birthday party and where did you get the invitations? Also, how much were they?

Answer
I got photo invitations made at the photo kiosk in the department store. I chose 2 cute photos, one the day he was born and another recent one, and then chose a template for a party invitation. I invited about 20 people, and had 25 invites made for $9.95.

Birthday party invitation?

Lynn S

My Niece sent a birthday party invitation to my sister's 60th birthday party at a restaurant and stated it would be $50 per person, plus perhaps $9 for parking. She included a card like a wedding for us to fill in with the number of persons that would attend and we were to sent our check to her. She also included a note about the restaurant and how it would make things easier when the check came if we would pay ahead of time. Family members felt when they received the invitation that they were being "invited" to pay for a party they had no choice about the planning in. I expressed that to my niece and she cancelled the whole affair and will not speak to anyone in the family. The invitations were handmade and very lovely. What should I do? Was she wrong?

Answer
She was wrong, however good her intentions may have been.
She should have told people that she was taking her mother out for her 60th birthday. She should then have asked if family would like to join them at a local restaurant to celebrate the event. That way, each person could order for themselves and pay what they could afford to pay for the meal. Each person could either contribute toward the paying of the birthday person's meal, or buy a gift or both. You simply do not INVITE people to a party and then charge them. Do nothing, you were not alone in this opinion, she will get over it in time. Her intentions were probably good.

17th birthday party ideas?

viccv

For my 16th birthday I had a house party and a bunch of people I didn't know showed up and everyone was really drunk. It was a fun time but needless to say I can't have a house party again.
What can I do for my 17th which is similar?
I don't wanna do something like bowling or the spa cuz first of all it's not exciting, second of all it costs $$$

Answer
Bonfire Party - For a budget-friendly bash, consider a bonfire celebration. Limit the menu to foods that can be cooked on a stick, and transform the garage into a dancing area.

Fear Factor Party - Set up an obstacle course, and design your own food challenges with platters of chunky, meat-flavored baby food, slices of head cheese and souse, and heaping bowls of delicacies from your local ethnic grocery store.
Spa Party - Stock up on manicure, pedicure, and facial supplies, and indulge your teen and her friends with a little pampering. For an extra-special treat, hire a professional to do an in-home spa party and treat the guests to makeovers.

Have a karaoke competition
Lip sync to music with close friends
Make a group music video and post it on YouTube
Throw mud at each other (I don't suggest this one!) and then take funny photos (Author's note - maybe a whipped cream fight?). File this one under 'outdoor activities.'
Have a Silly String fight. Silly String comes in spray canisters. Look at a toy store or party shop.
Hire a DJ, rent a party tent or a hall for dancing. Add mylar balloons or balloon bouquets.
For a laugh, rent a bounce house or bouncy castle (Try an online search for Party Rentals)
Set up a back yard carnival with homemade games and party favor prizes
In warmer weather, go camping, have a BBQ and a water balloon fight!
Small budget? Rent a good movie, bake and eat what you make!
Supply disposable cameras! "When you develop the pictures after the party, you are sure to get a good laugh," says one teen. As an alternative, guests could bring their digital cameras.
Spray each others hair with colored hair sprays. Make crazy hairstyles with colored hair gel.
Try some face painting, then go shopping as a group.

Pool party ideas

Mystery Dinner
Crazy and fun! The teens are served a crazy dinner - and the fun is they don't know exactly what they are ordering until it comes out of the kitchen. By the third round they have started to figure out the clues and finally get something to eat.

Restaurant
Take them to a nice restaurant or for more fun a Japanese steakhouse where they cook the food in front of you, or reserve a private room in the restaurant.

Music Videos
Borrow several video cameras and let the kids make crazy videos of themselves dancing, singing to karaoke or just being themselves! Edit and then make a DVD for each party guest.

Chocolate fountain Simple idea, but teenagers love it! Set out long toothpicks and bowls of strawberries, marshmallows, fruit, graham crackers, Twinkies (our favorite!), rice krispie treats or anything that can be dipped in chocolate (which is pretty much everything!) This is fun, festive and a real treat! Just add music and dancing.

At my daughter's birthday party, one of her friend's well-endowed moms went into the Bounce House & jumped...?

Reality *

around for a good 20 minutes. The other moms seemed catty about this. The dads didn't mind. My wife was too busy to notice. Was it wrong for us guys to stare? Was anyone wrong?

Answer
Lemme tell you, man, this lady knew exactly what she was doing. If you're well-endowed, it's uncomfortable to do things like that - she knew what she was doing to the guys, so that absolves you of guilt.
Regarding the other women, of course they were snaky about her.She was introducing an inappropriate activity to a kid's birthday party. If she needed guys to look at her she could have gone to the local pub instead.
So yeah, you're all correct.
Once the word gets back to your wife, I would guess that Madam Exhibitionist will find herself off the invitation list. Fair enough too.
