An 11 yr old girl wants to make money this summer. What are good types of businesses other than lemonade stands or babysitting (not the obvious ones) Or a summer job? Could work with friends or 12 yr old brother?

P.S. In hawaii

Answer
Here is a short list of summer jobs which you can create to generate income:

1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item.

2. Become a "poser" who assists wedding photographers in setting and arranging various individuals in group and single photographic positions. "Posers" carry around a sketch book of various sitting and standing poses which consists of onion skin overlays of various wedding pictures bound in albums. Again, contact local wedding photographers and wedding planners, accordingly. The hourly pay is around $10-$12 per hour and you are often invited to attend all dining activities.

3. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour.

4. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour.

5. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel.

6. Become a proxy/stand-in for neighbors to allow delivery of goods and packages to your home/apartment. Acquire the authority to sign any receipt of incoming packages as an accepting neighbor. Charge $1 per each package handled by you.

7. Consider becoming a restaurant-cafe customer liaison by using your cell phone at restaurants-cafes to coordinate with the hostess to keep track of waiting customers. Whenever there's a very long period of time to activate a waiting list, you want to offer the restaurant your services so that customers do not have to stand around for any lengthy period of time. And when their name/assigned number comes up; you can call the upcoming customer's cell phone to tell them that they can return to the restaurant and be served. The call back fee is usually around $0.50 cents on a per head basis. For example, a couple would be charged $1.00 while children under 6 would not be charged. Placement of a plaque which outlines your fee schedule near the hostess station is sufficient to garner attention of prospective customers who will value your services since they can do other activities outside of the restaurant -- often beyond the range of any inhouse paging system. You realize that everyone has a cellphone and why not take advantage of the connectivity to make the diner's experience worthwhile. The restaurant will also appreciate the added service you are providing as a customer liaison.

Good luck!

advise about birthday party invites from school?

suzieq

I have a son 5 yr old and a step son 5 yr old who both live with us full time. they go to same school but different classes. my son got a invite to a costume birthday party, should i not take his step brother too? i hate he doesnt get to go but i thought it might be rude to bring an extra kid. what are the rules on this?

Answer
Several ways you could handle this.

You could call the parent and explain your situation and ask if it would be a huge intrusion for the step son to attend the party as well. He probably didn't get an invite because he' s in a separate classroom. Apologize to the host and offer to bring something to help with the party (like a bag of chips; some candy; etc). If the party is at a party place or where the host is paying for the number of kids to attend or for them to participate in some activity (bowling) then let her know you'll pay the extra (and then actually do it). Most hosts won't mind if you call ahead to work out the details. If it's a sleep over, I would not recommend it or if the host is having to transport the kids to an activity, again, too much inconvenience. Under the circumstances you describe, I certainly wouldn't have a problem with the addition of another child.

You could take your step son on a special outing to see a movie or out to dinner so that he's attending a special outing. You might ask him if he's comfortable attending the party where he won't know many of the kids (except your son). He may not even want to go.

I would take this as an opportunity to sit down both kids and explain that although they are the same age and attend the same school, they won't always have the same friends and from time to time, one of them might get an invitation to do something that the other won't.

Kids are more understanding that parents sometimes give them credit for.

My daughter is 9 and received a birthday party invitation for a sleep over. I have never met the parents before. I just wonder how many parents allow their kids to do this. I have to know the parents for quite a while before it is OK for her to stay the night.

Answer
My 6 y old got a sleepover party invite. He went for the evening but I picked him up at 930. I told them that no offense, since I didnt know them I didnt want to have him sleep over, and they totally understood, or at least pretended to lol
I would have to know more of the family than be able to pick the parents out of aline-up to send my kid for a sleepover. I dont need to be friends with them but I do need to know them in some level.
Just let her go for a while and pick her up later, its not like theyll be going to sleep early anyways

Is it appropriate for a family member to host minor child's birthday without discussing with parent?

Mom of 4

My husband and I received an invitation to our daughter's (his biological, my step daughter) 9th birthday party from my husband's sister. She never even called us and asked if we were doing something or if we minded her hosting a party. His sister made arrangements to spend the day with our daughter during her bio mom's weekend as to secure the time with our daughter without us knowing. Is it appropriate and how would you reply?

Answer
No, that is inappropriate. She should have discussed this with you and your husband.

Birthday party invitation?

Lynn S

My Niece sent a birthday party invitation to my sister's 60th birthday party at a restaurant and stated it would be $50 per person, plus perhaps $9 for parking. She included a card like a wedding for us to fill in with the number of persons that would attend and we were to sent our check to her. She also included a note about the restaurant and how it would make things easier when the check came if we would pay ahead of time. Family members felt when they received the invitation that they were being "invited" to pay for a party they had no choice about the planning in. I expressed that to my niece and she cancelled the whole affair and will not speak to anyone in the family. The invitations were handmade and very lovely. What should I do? Was she wrong?

Answer
She was wrong, however good her intentions may have been.
She should have told people that she was taking her mother out for her 60th birthday. She should then have asked if family would like to join them at a local restaurant to celebrate the event. That way, each person could order for themselves and pay what they could afford to pay for the meal. Each person could either contribute toward the paying of the birthday person's meal, or buy a gift or both. You simply do not INVITE people to a party and then charge them. Do nothing, you were not alone in this opinion, she will get over it in time. Her intentions were probably good.

Me and 6 of my friends are going Ice Skating then going back to my house for Italian for my 13th Birthday Party. I have to give out invites tommorow and I still havent made any. I kind of want to go with a color scheme but i feel that it will be to much of a hassle on my parents. So if anyone has any homemade invitation ideas, please list them below. Also if you know a website (that is free) that gives you invitation templates, also list it below. Thank you so much

I'm planning my son's 2nd Birthday party, and I was wondering if evite was better, or if I should send an invitation? I think that sending an Evite is definitely easier, but I was wondering if it was tacky. We're planning something casual in our yard, with a bounce house and maybe a pony. I was thinking of doing a cowboy theme. Anyways, any thoughts would be appreciated.

Answer
I would go with regular mail, even though evite is easier. My only reason is that people monitor regular mail more closely than email.

Parents: Should I include "no gifts necessary" on birthday invitation?

Shari

We're planning our 4 year old's birthday party at a bounce house facility. We really don't care whether people bring gifts or not but I think it's a little tacky to include any mention about gifts. If you received an invitation that has NO mention about gifts, would you assume the host is expecting one? I always bring but I don't want people to think we are expecting it. What do you think? Do we NEED to say "no gifts necessary?"

Answer
My rule is, no mention of gifts on the invitation...any invitation.

While it's become socially expected to bring gifts to various events (weddings, birthday parties, housewarming parties etc etc etc), it is NOT obligatory and the majority of people know this.

If they want to bring a gift, they will. If they don't, they won't. But whether or not to do so is completely up to them.

How should i prepare for my first invitation to a girls' birthday party?

I am 15 and was just invited to two girls birthday parties. In fact, they are best friends and are having both their parties on the same night. Not sure if either of them like me, I just met them like a month ago. One of them sits next to me in Drivers Ed. Just would like to know what to bring, how to prepare, and how to handle myself when im there. Oh, there is dancing also and I have never danced :(

Answer
Can I assume that the parties are at different times and you're attending both of them?

Ask the girls themselves what you should wear. Call their mothers and ask for their advice on an appropriate present. This will also get you some bonus points with the moms which are bankable against possible future dating. That's always a good thing.

Not much preparation will be needed except to find somebody to give you some quick pointers on dancing. Other than that, be very clean, freshly showered, teeth brushed, mouthwash, deodorant, recent haircut. Maybe a little aftershave, but for heaven's sake don't go overboard with it. Check that your clothes are clean and not all wrinkled, your shoes aren't muddy, and your socks match. (No white socks, please!)

Once you're there, relax and be yourself. You've already made yourself presentable and you've got the present handled. Time to just have fun. Remember your manners. Make sure you wish the girls happy birthday, and make sure to thank the mothers as well as the girls when you leave.

What is a creative way to say "no gifts please" on an invitation?

Rachel

We're planning a surprise birthday party for my father. It's going to be a casual event. We know that he would not want gifts, just the presence of his family and friends. I've been put in charge of invitations and need to come up with some way of saying this besides "No presents, just your presence," as my mother doesn't like that. I'm not the one who decided no gifts, I'm simply in charge of figuring this out. Any suggestions?

Answer
Just say "It's only necessary to bring yourself & your good cheer"! Or maybe, " Your presence & your good cheer is all you need to bring, please join us in making the day special for ------------, thank you!"

How do I tell them to take their aggressive dog the heck out of my backyard?

Josie

I'm having a birthday party for my puppy. I'm inviting some friends and their dogs. On the invitation, how would I politely word something like, "If your dog starts to bark and be a jerk to every other dog, please get the heck out of my backyard."?

Answer
Presumably you KNOW your friends and their dogs. So don't invite anyone (person or dog) who you KNOW will be aggressive.

Keep in mind even children are aggressive sometimes. It is up to the responsible adults to manage their behavior.

In the invitation I might say something like, "A lot of dogs is a lot of fun but sometimes a cooling off period is necessary. Please bring a leash for your dog."

You might want to have a couple of extra leashes handy or even a crate or two or a penned off area where Wilbur can take a time out.

If at the party one of your human guests seems oblivious to the fact that their dog is obnoxious, simply leash the dog, deliver him to his owner and say, "Wow, he's a great dog full of energy but I think he might need a bit of one-on-one time with mom" or something like that.

My church is doing a summer camp for the few kids we have and we want to make it fun...

Answer
Are you able to go to the place where you'll be having this event and walk around a bit? I had a b-day party for my son last year at a local park, i went up the day before and walked around seeing what kinds of flowers and trees and whatnot were around, then I made up a scavenger hunt list of pine cones and dandy lions and fossils, stick shaped like a Y. I also went to the local dollar store and got some golf balls and army men and little things like that and left them in piles around the park. I split the kids into groups of 2 and gave them a brown paper bag and the list and had them go hunting together. This was for my son's 6th birthday and one of his friends brought his older sister....she said it was the funnest birthday party she had been to.

My daughter (7yrs) wants an indoor camping party, with tents, smores etc. What activites can we do ?

yoquierole

I got tin plates/cups for everyone and we're going to make hobo packets for dinner. I thought of a 'dressup like a camper' game where they would have a sack of random clothes like plaid shirts, fake mustaches, and big old jeans. They would have to get everything in the bag put on and the first one finished would get their picture taken. But what else can I do so the kids have a camping theme activity ?

Answer
there is always duck duck goose. I like the ghost story idea also.

Or you can put different items in brown paper bags number them and close them up tight.

everyone has to feel the item and guess what it is. the one with the most correct answers wins.

Why did Nazis want Hitlerjungend boys to already make children?

camping party ideas for boys
on easy party ideas and games party planning camouflage cake
camping party ideas for boys image

Scythian

I was reading that Nazis placed Hitlerjugend camps a long with Bund Deutscher Mädel camps in the forest consciously so they could meet at night. Why did they want them to have children that early and who took care of the children?

Answer
Yes and no but mostly yes. Typically unwed teenage mothering and sex was not of the highest culture and not what the Germans wanted for their perfect society. However and contridictionally, unwed teenage sex was also encouraged. Unwed mothers were known as "Brides of the Fürher" and unwed mothers of the Hitler Youth and SS were given maternal care free of charge in a program called "Lebensborn" (Spring of Life).

After the Nazi's 1934 Nüremberg Party Rally, 90% of the Hitler Youth girls came back pregnant.

Their was no official program to make teenage girls have babies but it wasn't discouraged to the point were it was pretty much encouraged (does that make sense?).

What I mean is that Nazi culture passive-aggressively implemented the idea into the girls to become mothers. They weren't made to but they weren't stopped and were taught that being a mother was the best thing they could ever do for the German state. So with that logic they got pregnant as soon as they could.

What is a simple & "free" birthday party to host for our 9 year old son?

Live, Love

Our son is wanting to get together with about six or seven of his closest friends for his "belated" birthday celebration. Our son loves the Wii video game and loves to hang out with his friends. He loves to draw, he's really good at it too! What type of party would you suggest that we have that won't break our wallet? We are on an extremely tight budget due to job pay cuts etc...We want our son to have a great and memorable party. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
I'd say a sleepover is a great idea. If he loves the Wii and his friends do, too, then just let them play the games that he already has. Maybe have a championship game for the top scorers.

For refreshments, most boys like brownies and chocolate chip cookies. You could have a birthday brownies or a birthday cookies.

Make your own sundaes. Vanilla ice cream. Chocolate Syrup, sprinkles, M & M's, nuts, cherries, etc. They will have fun doing this.

Since we're close to Halloween, you could go with a Halloween theme. Rent some scary movies. Maybe buy each boy a pumpkin to carve (or decorate with paint, fabric, etc, if you are more comfortable with that--grocery store is cheaper than a pumpkin farm). Have Halloween themed food (freeze spider rings or gummy worms) in ice trays for spooky ice cubes. Worms (slice hot dogs in long strips and boil in water and they'll curl up and look like worms). Mummy Dogs (hot dog wrapped with breadstick dough and bake and then put eyes on with mustard). Caramel Apples (you can make these ahead of time or let the boys dip them-roll in nuts or decorate with M&M's or candy corn). Drink hot cocoa with a floating eyeball (large marshmallow with Choc Chip inserted in the middle). Cupcakes or brownies decorated with Halloween decorations. Potato Bugs (tater tots inserted onto raw spahetti noodle and bake per directions-use catsup for the eyes. Wal-Mart has gummy eyeballs, worms, and spiders. There's also a severed foot or hand in the candy aisle that's gummy w/ some sort of hard candy in the middle-gross but good for 9 year old boys.

Pizza. Make your own, you can buy the crusts premade, use canned biscuits or make your own crusts and a wide variety of toppings. Or, Pizza Hut has the $5 Pizza Mia (a medium) but you have to buy at least 3 to get them for $5 each. They would be less mess and could be cheaper.

Do you have a yard? If so, a camp out. Pitch some tents, have the boys bring sleeping bags. Build a fire in a fire pit (if you have one). Roast hot dogs and make smores. Play horse shoes or ring toss or both. Hold sack races (you can use old pillow cases-can buy from Salvation Army for cheap). Buy some glow sticks or cheap flashlights for the kids to play with outside to tell ghost stories or play ghosts in the graveyard.

what are some cheap party ideas for a girls sweet 16?

Q. my mom wont let me and my twin sister have a party unless its cheap. it dont even have to be a party. i just want ideas on how to spend it. any suggestion is welcome.

Answer
For our cousin's Sweet 16, we wanted to make it memorable and special. With her help we decided to have a slumber party. She lives with her mother about an hour away, so as part of the celebration we arranged to have the girls for two nights. We will drive to each of the girls' houses and meet the parents, give out phone numbers and assure them that their daughters will be in good hands. As we pull in the driveway to our house, we open the garage door and surprise our daughter with a car! Friday night we order pizza, have cake and open gifts. The girls will 'camp out' downstairs. We'll put down mattresses from beds to make one big 'bed' in front of the TV with lots of pillows and blankets. The girls can listen to music, talk, munch, watch TV or shoot pool while we are upstairs getting some much needed rest! On Saturday our day begins kind of early. I'll take the girls for a Starbucks and pastry and then take them for a European facial at a local cosmetology school. The price is right ($20) and the girls get something great for their skin at the same time! Afterwards, we'll come home and get cleaned up. We're going to play the "16 Question" game. We thought of 16 questions that we'll ask the guests to answer about our daughter. (favorite color, how many guys has she kissed, etc.) Our daughter will be out of the room when we ask the questions. Afterwards, she'll come back in and we'll ask her the questions. The one that gets the most questions right gets a prize (Best Buy gift card). We're also going to have a mini-pool tourney and later on that evening we're off to the local bowling alley for cosmic bowling to scope out guys, get silly and eat bowling alley fries. The girl with the highest score out of 3 games gets a prize! When we get home the girls are once again on their own. For decorations I've got everything in "16" - balloons, flowers, candles, streamers, etc. We also found photos of our daughter doing crazy stuff when she was growing up and put them onto colorful paper and posted them throughout the downstairs. Sure to embarrass her a little and be fun at the same time! We have two cameras for the girls to use as they wish and will develop them and make her a photo album of her party. I made each girl a "goodie bag" with eye shadow, bath and body stuff, shower scrubbie, candy ... ! I think it'll be great fun! On Sunday we're driving each girl back home to her parents house safe and sound! Afterwards, we're coming home to relax!!!!! :-)

what are some jobs that teenagers usually have?

kevissavag

I am going to apply for jobs next month, but I only have a few jobs in mind. What are some jobs that most high school teenagers have? Dealing drugs is out of the question.

Answer
Here's a short list of jobs in the U.S., Canada and Europe which you can create to generate income:

5. Visit your nearest beauty salon and ask to be trained as a shampoo person who is also willing to sweep up fallen hair on the ground and do set ups [arranging dye kits, curler holders, etc.] for a set hourly fee.

6. Become a sign flipper by contacting your nearest realtor. A flipper is someone who stands at a major intersection and flips a "For Lease/Rental" sign in order to attract visitors to an open house or to a particular real estate listing. The hourly pay is at least the minimum wage.

7. Why not become a paid feeder servicing the disabled at nearby nursing, convalescent, assisted living/care centers and hospitals. It involves feeding food to patients who are unable to feed themselves. The starting rate is $8.00 per hour. The only downside is that one has to take precautions to wash one's hands after each feeding. A posting of your services [by a business card or flyer] on a reviewable bulletin board would be enough to generate customers. The paid feeder position is one of the fastest growing occupation at this time.

Good luck!

Good luck!

I'm a girl, and I have a pretty tight budget, and absolutely no idea what to do for a birthday party in August. My group of friends usually likes doing things more than sitting around and relaxing. Problem is, last time I tried to throw a party which involved going to a water park, only 1 or 2 people actually paid the 15 dollars for themselves, and I had to pay the other 70 or so dollars out of my own pocket. Any ideas?
Please note that there is a TIGHT budget here.

Answer
The Formal Party
Since adulthood is veering around the corner, many kids this age will appreciate a birthday party that beckons upon this premise. Formal birthday parties are actually rather easily thrown. Create formal invitations that require an RSVP. A hired catering company that will provide a menu is also advised--this way you can even ask guests on the invitations what their menu choices will be. Most local hotels will offer smaller ballrooms that you can rent for a decent bargain. You can even set up tables with fancy drinks like sparkling cider and juices, which mimic a real cocktail bar. A hired band that performs songs all night or a DJ for dancing and some fancy decorations will net you a formal birthday party that your teenager won't soon forget.

Rock and Roll Birthday Party
Perhaps one of the more popular of birthday party ideas for teenagers is a rock and roll birthday. Your best bet is to find out if they have any friends who are in local bands that they really like. You can easily hire these local bands for pretty cheap and get them to play at your home in your backyard. Make sure that you acquire a live music permit from your local authorities so that your party does not get shut down.

Flashy rock themes include the birthday cake--you can even decorate a print-on cake with their favorite rock band on the frosting; all you need is a picture. Include free music download cards in your party teasers and create invitations that look like real concert tickets that you tear at the door as guests enter.

Video Game Themed Birthday Party
Most teenagers love video games--even girls these days are playing more and more video games. One of the more popular varieties of these video games are games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Set up a video game console in the living room and hold showdowns to see can rock out harder. Cool invitations can resemble game controllers and attendees can be encouraged to purchase video game-related gifts for the birthday kid. Offer a prize for the winner of a video game showdown.

What does paper lanterns have to do with Alice in Wonderland?

I am throwing my 14 year old an Alice in Wonderland birthday party and when searching for party ideas I keep coming up with paper lanterns. I am just simply having a case of 'cant remember' and have no idea where in the movie or why paper lanterns are an Alice in Wonderland decoration. TIA for your help.

Answer
I did an alice in wonderland Costumes party. I made invitations on the computer using clipart that I found. Inside each invitation was the following verse: "You are invited to an adventure in Wonderland... Don't Be Late! For a Very Important Date "name"'s Birthday Party If you're feeling quite MAD We'll make you quite GLAD On _/_/_. Come in foolish Attire For all to admire". I was alice but I don't like bule so I had my dress made it was pink and white, with a black trim.My best friend dressed as the notorious Queen of Hearts I dressed my baby sister as the white rabbit. Each table had a cut out of someone from the movie we decorated the roof with white christmas lights. We had a Mad Hatter cake made just for me in my colors of course. My dad got me an inflatable jumper that was SO MUCH FUN there were like 20 crazy girls inside.we also played "croquet", "Who is the Queen of Hearts?" Take a deck of cards and place them in a hat. Ask guests to draw one card at a time until someone draws the Queen of Hearts. Winner gets a red rose, of course.and "Pin the Smile on the Cheshire Cat." At one point in the movie, the Governor & Dodo have a Caucus race, where everyone runs around a campfire to dry off, so I incorporated the caucus race with musical chairs. It was very comical.I played the same song that the Governor sang in the movie during the game, which was a nice touch. (Forward, backward, inward, outward, come and join the chase! Nothing could be drier than a jolly caucus-race. Backward, forward, outward, inward, bottom to the top, never a beginning there can never be a stop to skipping, hopping, tripping, fancy free and gay, I started it tomorrow and will finish yesterday. Round and round and round we go, and dance for evermore, once we were behind but now we find we are be-forward, backward, inward, outward, come and join the chase! Nothing could be drier than a jolly caucus-race.)When it was time for my friends to go home I gave out several things as favors.I bought thirty celophane bags and filled them with the following, deck of cards, small bottle of bubbles,a small watch like the white rabbit had,and two try me cookies,a looking glass,Mardi Gras beads,I then put each cellophane bag into plastic hats I decorated to look like the mad hatters hat. Everybody love it I'ts been a year and they are still taking about it

My brother passed his ASVAB! (the test you have to take to get into the military) So, I'm throwing him a sendoff party before he goes to boot camp but the only party supplies I can find are cheesy kids birthday party supplies. He's joining the Marine Corps so any ideas at all would be helpful. I thought about doing Blue Tablecloths with like a yellow table runner and red accents. He has a USMC flag hanging on his wall that I'm gonna steal to use for decor and insiration and all that, but I didn't know if there were any websites i could use also, and if any of y'all have some Ideas it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!! :]

Where can I find a site that offers a wide selection of free and printable party invitations?

sXe

I'm looking for something that's kind of generic because it's going to be for a birthday/housewarming party. I'm looking for a site that lets me edit the invite on their site and then save it, instead of saving a blank template and working on it through a text editor....
I found www.invitationland.com and that's pretty much what I'm looking for, but they don't have that wide of a selection. Any sites similar to it but with a wider selection?

Answer
maybe http://www.make-your-own-invitations.com.
they charge $15 to create a custom digital copy and then you can print it from your printer or even cheaper u can take to photo shop to print on to 6x4 matt photo paper.

Answer
Happy Birthday a little early - October could be a good time for a outdoor bonfire party. Or maybe a big camp out in your backyard :) Check out these awesome camping glow-in-the-dark T-shirts at www.imagnTEE.com, they would be a great "party gift" and would be a lot of fun to see everyone glow at night! And yes you can get long sleeves, since it could be a little chilly out.

What should I do for my 13th Birthday Party?

Q. I am having a GIRLS only birthday party. My 13th Brithday party is next October 2008. I have my own movie Theatre if that helps. And a HUGE house. Im going to invite all my girl friends but I don't know what kind of birthday to have. We are willing to buy lots of party accesories. Any help?

Answer
WOW....my niece just had her 10th birthday using DVD invitations with her pictures and a song with the invitations instructions...about 1-3 minutes long.
You should try that as an invitation..and for the party if you gonna have dancing; on the movie screen you should have the music videos to that song you are playing...and someone filming the party that may occasionally show live on the screen what is going on while the party is popping.

If you want suttle with just girls...I recommend a party that involves movies and karaoke...

What are some ideas for birthday invitations?

Me and 6 of my friends are going Ice Skating then going back to my house for Italian for my 13th Birthday Party. I have to give out invites tommorow and I still havent made any. I kind of want to go with a color scheme but i feel that it will be to much of a hassle on my parents. So if anyone has any homemade invitation ideas, please list them below. Also if you know a website (that is free) that gives you invitation templates, also list it below. Thank you so much

Answer
Why don't you print something simple? Download word document, change your text, change your picture, add details of your party and voila you have an invitation
Here you can download invitations for free: http://www.freetemplatesdepot.com/depot/category/invitations.html

How would you let people know a birthday party is in the works, but not make your actual invitation yet?

I want to send a "basic headsup" party invitation to everyone letting them know there will be a party in November. But, mainly asking them to send any kind of picture they have of my husband to me to prepare for a video. But I dont want to send the ACTUAL invitation yet. How would you do it? What would you say?

Answer
Use email or, if you need to, a letter. Say something like, "Hi. Hope your summer is off to a good start! ... I am doing some planning ahead for a birthday party for <insert name here> in November. I want to do a video montage thing, so if you could send me a photo you have of <name>, I'd really appreciate it. If you mail me a photo, put your name on the back somewhere and I'll make sure to get it back to you. If you can email it to me, that's awesome too of course. I want you to know that I really appreciate your help in putting this together and I think the party will be fun. I need the photos by <insert date here> so that I'll have time to get the video put together (or to work with the videographer to get the video put together). I haven't decided when in November to schedule the party, but you are on my list to invite when I get the date and other details irone out. Again, I greatly appreciate it if you have photos of <name> to share and I'll follow up with an invitation you when I get things planned. Sincerely, <your name>"
You can change up wording of course - this is just the friendly request for photos for the video you are planning and a 'heads up' on the upcoming party. If you do know the date, then you can note it in the email or letter as a 'save the date' and note that you'll be sending out formal invitations ahead of the party.
Have fun!

wonkydonke

Iam making party invitations for my daughters birthday , and the theme is Charlie and lola. iam trying to get the font and style of the writing, I think ive got the font, but i am trying to get the text to do a sort of loop the loop instead of just writing in s straight line .Anyone know of how to do this, or where to find a good swirly line generator ? Thanks so much

Answer
Photoshop and some of the better free graphics editor with the right plug-ins will allow you to set up writing text on a curve. Best to read the tutorials first.
