What is the proper etiquette to let people know they are paying for their own meal for a birthday celebration?

I am hosting a surprise birthday celebration/get together. I had wanted to invite everyone to take this person out for their birthday. It is mostly family and close friends. 25-30 people at a restaurant. If I were to send an informal invitation how would I mention that they are paying for their meal? Should I just write cost and a range of price? Thank you in advance!

Answer
I was wondering that myself. I looked online and I came across this piece of etiquette advice.

In the strictest sense of etiquette, it is not proper to ask guests to pay to attend a party. Etiquette experts agree that hosts should deploy cost-cutting measures (have an informal dessert party, whittle the guest list, etc.) rather than requesting guests foot their own bill.
While protocol does not advocate putting cost information on a party invitation, some people do in this day and age. If you do opt to put it on the invitation, it's best to place it in the corner opposite the RSVP invitation, as shown below:
Please join us
in celebration of
JOHN's 60th Birthday
DAY, Date at TIME
Hotel Fancy
ADDRESS
CITY, STATE
$20 per person RSVP: 333-333-3333
Remember to consider the feelings of the honoree in this decision. If the honoree is rather traditional and conservative, they would likely be embarrassed by such a request. If you must pass a cost on to your invited guests, the best way to spread the word is by word of mouth.

I need help with wording for my dad's 50th birthday invitations?

Syrian gir

I am throwing my dad a surprise 50th birthday party. I thought it would be neat to have the theme as the 60's and 70's since that was when he grew up, the only problem is I can't figure out what to say in his invitation. I want something unique and that goes with the theme. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
It depends on the type of person your father was when he was growing up. It is entirely possible that he and his friends don't remember most of the 60's and 70's so you can word the invitation any way you want.
Just have every one bring a favorite memory, put them all in a binder and have fun reading the memories. These and be signed or unsigned depending on the writers desire to remain a respectable member of the community.

Give me ideas for my sleepover?

ThatOneGir

I'm gonna throw a Camp Rock 2 sleepover on Friday when it comes out.. Duh, we're gonna watch the movie. But I want some other ideas? Food and activities please(:

Answer
Ignore Mark. We're all over 16, and we still have themed sleepovers. My sisters sorority does it and she's 21 so ignore him :D.

Since it's Camp Rock, you should use the camp theme all the way.

1. I agree - the karaoke is totally cute since it's Camp Rock!

2. Make "camp" food like smores, hot chocolate, popcorn, chips, sliced apples with caramel dip, and make a sugar coated trail mix with chocolate chips, vanilla chips, and peanut butter chips.

3. Bar b que food works with camping. I don't eat hot dogs, but you could do a "Hot Dog Bar" with different toppings, and you could have veggie dogs and veggie burgers for non meat eaters. :D

4. Have everyone come dressed like their fav character or in Camp Rock Fashion. And adults who watch LOST and 24 and shows like that dress up and have viewing parties, so its NOT dorky haha.

here's a fashion blog on Demi / Mitchie and Camp Rock Fashion...

http://prettyprincessgirls.com/randomness/camp-rock-2-fashion-music/

5. Create 2 quick dance routines - 1 for Camp Star and 1 for Camp Rock - divide the girls in half and have the girls learn the routines. I'm a cheerleader so that's something I would actually do haha :D

Anywayyyssss - have fun - don't be afraid to go all out, and don't listen to the haters :D

My daughter is 3 years old in June and we decided on a camp out party theme. I am looking for some ideas on activities to do with the kids. There will be more adults than kids at the party, but I would still like to have activities that both adults and kids can do that relate to the theme. Thanks in advance!

Answer
You could do a scavenger hunt, flash light tag, s'mores, have jars so the kids can catch fireflies, tell spooky stories (age appropriate), make up camp fire songs.

Looking for ideas for a fun teenage B-Day party in Camarillo or surrounding area, can you help?

Ahhhhh

There are no Dave and Busters or any real exciting avenue that I can see. We moved here from Hawaii, and needless to say the amount of party ideas are almost non-existent in comparison. I was hoping for Dave and Busters but that is over an hour away. Something fun where teenagers can be kids, not looking in the mirror worrying about is my hair OK.

What's a good theme for a surprise birthday party?

Adam Heath

My friend is turning 29 soon and I want to throw him a surprise birthday party. He likes comics, NASCAR, and baseball, plus he's gay. Do you have any ideas for a good theme? How should I decorate? What should I do for food? How about invitations?

Answer
Do a luau. It's fun and easy. Plus it's great for summer time.

Decorations- It's really easy. Pretty much anything tropical. Grass Skirts, sea shells, leis, tiki torches, etc. Walmart has a great luau party aisle it has every from Coconut bras down to invitations.

Food- Anything you can cook out on a grill. (hot dogs, hamburgers etc.) Drinks you can do pina coladas with umbrellas

Games- Limbo, Conga, Hula dancing

You can come up with great ideas. Have fun with it.

I don't know if I should have a joined birthday party with my friends? Her birthday is 2 days after me. If we do. we were planning to rent or book a place and have a dj play music and have food and decoration. We were thinking of inviting 50 people. I kinda want to since this is the only way my mom would let me invite everyone at school in my grade but then she might invite sum people I don't like. So should I or should I not?

Answer
My best friend and I use to have joint birthdays all the time and we were a month apart hehe it's a lot of fun because you are with all your friends and that's all that matters ..if she invites a few people you don't like it doesn't really matter because you'll have the people there that you love and won't even notice them :) I say, go for it!!

You could even charge $5.00 at the door per person and then you and your friend can donate the money to a good cause! Let people know on the invitation what the fee is for!!

Should I do a separate or joint invitation?

gcoolie

My son is turning 3 and his cousin is turning 7. We've decided to do a combined birthday party. I'm planning to send out an evite as the invitation. Should I make a separate evite for family and a separate evite for my friends so my friends do not feel obligated to bring two gifts? My friends do not know my son's cousin who is turning 7.

Answer
I would do a joint invitation, the cousin will feel really bad if your son gets twice as many gifts. I would feel bad if I went and didn't take him one because I didn't know.

I'm having a birthday party soon and it's board game themed since all my friends like to play board games... well it's a great idea for everything... except I can't think of any decorations or party favors that apply to the theme. Could you help me out?

Answer
This is where you've got to be creative. Get some paper and cut them into big squares--you want them to look like Scrabble pieces, even including a numbered point on the bottom. First off-make a WELCOME sign...that's your first word going across.
Add a T over the O
Add a Y under the M
Add letters H,O,U.S over top of the E (you now read it as "Welcome To My House"Scrabble style!

Make a checkered board to add those letters on and hang on the front door or as guests enter.

Have people "buy" snacks with Monopoly money=put a price by each item. If they run out of money, they have to perform a task to earn more (something funny, like balancing something on their head and walk across the room or blowing up a balloon, knot it, then sit on it til it breaks)...or whatever else you can think of.....in fact, think of many ideas, put them like cards into a holder and they have to draw one idea out. Ideas could include: jump rope, do hula hoop, bounce a ball, and so on.

Make up a black/red checkerboard (again with paper, unless you have a real one) and use it to hold round cookies (each wrapped in plastic wrap) as playing pieces for serving.

Set the food table up with a colorful tablecloth and add items grouped together that represent the game pieces in the game Clue: an iron , a candlestick, a shoe, ; make it look like the decoration..and make sure they're clean ;D. Tie balloons to those items to make festive like a centerpiece. Add some dice to the arrangement..the big ones.

Hang up fuzzy dice all over.

Put bunches of lollipops in jars set around to look like bouquets (or can sit a grouping on the table
along with bowls of gumdrops, licorice) to represent the game Candyland.

Apples to Apples>>put a bunch together, speaks for itself

Use an old deck of cards or Uno cards for coasters and to glue (using that stuff Modpodge from craft store ) to make a collage on a poster board to hang up.

INVITATIONS: make paper scrabble tiles and enclose them in the invitations. Instruct your guests-to-be to put together the highest scoring word they can using the letters you've included with their invitation. Let them know there will be a special prize for the person with the highest scoring word. Send everyone the same letters or randomly select 7 or 8 letters per person and be sure to include at least one vowel. (You may also want to deduct points for unused letters).
Scrabble letters and point value for each and how many are in a game>>>

9 A's...1pt, 2 B;s...3 pt, 2 C's...3pt, 4 D's...2 pt, 12 E's...1 pt, 2 F's...1 pt, 3 G's..2 pt, 2 H's..4 pt, 9 I's..1 pt, 1 J..8 pt, 1 K..10 pt,4 L's..1 pt..2 M's..2 pt, 6 N's..1 pt, 8 O's..1 pt, 2 P's..3 pt, 1 Q..8 pt, 6 R's..1 pt, 4 S's..1 pt, 6 T's..1 pt, 4 U's..1 pt..2 V's..4 pt..2 W's..10 pt, 1 X..10 pt, 1 Z..10 pt.

Party favors: pens, notepads, candy (from Candyland) or candy flavored lip balm, magnifying glass (detective work from Clue), apple treats..apple flavored gum or candy, apple shaped notepad, etc.....foil wrapped candy coins,

Have all your guests name the games you've represented with your decorations..have them write down their answers and best one wins. I'm sure you can think of even more ideas, but this will get you started.

Linda

I'm hosting a birthday party in two weeks. I 'd like to personalize it with a theme or something..any ideas?
Thanks a lot!

Answer
Hawaiian or a Movie theme.

For the Hawaiian theme:

For the preteen crowd, this tropical island theme can be a real hoot--particularly if you challenge arriving guests to use the 12 letters of the Hawaiian alphabet (a, e, h, i, k, l, m, n, o, p, u, w) to come up with fun new nicknames to go by. If you have a pool, you're golden. If not, set up a sprinkler that the kids can run through to cool off between the party games.

INVITATION
Aloha! Guests will know they're in for a fun ride when they get this invite. To make one, use a craft knife (adults only) to cut an 8-inch-long surfboard shape out of Fome-Cor (sold at most craft or art supply stores) or cardboard. Cut an identical shape out of colorful Con-Tact paper. Stick the Con-Tact paper to the top of the surfboard and print on a fun announcement with a black marker. Print the rest of the information on the back, including a reminder for guests to wear their favorite beach attire.

PARTY PHOTO
Hang Ten Poses Having your photo taken while you strike a dramatic surfing pose makes a fun icebreaker for this shindig. To set the stage, put on some inspiring music (any Beach Boys tune will do), then spread a blue tarp or blanket on the ground and place a folded-up ironing board on top of it. Guests can then take turns "riding" the board while you snap Polaroid postcards of them to take home as souvenirs.

PARTY CRAFTS
Paper Leis It wouldn't be a true Hawaiian celebration without colorful flower leis. You can either make them ahead of time and have your child distribute them as the guests arrive, or provide the supplies so the kids can make their own. First, trim the tops of colorful cupcake liners to resemble scalloped-edged flowers. Then cut a bunch of drinking straws into 1-inch lengths for spacers. Using a wide-eyed embroidery needle and twine, alternately sew through the centers of a bunch of flowers and string on straw sections. When the strand is long enough, tie together the string ends, and the lei is ready to wear.

TROPICAL TREATS
Skewer pieces of fruit, cheese, and meat with fancy toothpicks and arrange them on a pupu platter (that's Hawaiian for appetizer!). Blend together tropical fruits, juices, and ice for smoothies that your guests will go bananas over. Serve them in pretty glasses garnished with cocktail umbrellas. Top it off with this beach cake, sure to make a big splash!

ISLAND ENTERTAINMENT
Hula Hoopla Hawaiian partygoers will get a laugh out of giving this contest a whirl. Hand two of the kids hula hoops and see who can hula the longest. Then pose the challenge to two other kids. Once everyone has had a chance, have the winners of the first round face off against each other, and so on, until one kid is the victor. He or she wins a hula hoop!

Aloha VolleyPlayed with a beach ball (or even a balloon), this game puts a tropical twist on classic volleyball. Set up a net (or you can string a piece of clothesline between two stationary objects). Ask each team to come up with a fun name like the Invincible Islanders or the Volley-canoes. Explain that the object is to hit the ball back and forth according to standard volleyball rules. But instead of scoring points, teams are awarded letters to spell A-L-O-H-A. The first team to complete the word wins!

HAWAIIAN PARTY POINTERS
â¢Make your place look like a tropical paradise by decorating it with exotic paper or silk flowers, colored holiday lights, and paper lanterns.
⢠Set up a beach umbrella to create a shady spot where kids can get out of the sun. And have plenty of sunscreen on hand.
⢠Hawaiian Party Favors: Send guests home from this party in paradise with tropical trail mix (just add dried pineapple chunks and macadamia nuts to your favorite mix), shells, beach balls, or sunglasses.
---------------------------------------------------
For the Movie Theme:

Invitations:
Become a STAR with "birthday girl" (have pictures of glamour women on the front of the card)
Tell the guests to dress up as glamorous as possible (long gowns, high heels, lots of makeup, etc) Have extra accessories for those who wanted to be more glamorous.
Date:
Time:
Location:
RSVP to my manager

Additional Idea:
Purchased cards of girl, high heels, with sparkles on them.
Invitation Insert: Made. Printed a note asking parents to dress their little girls in their old bridesmaid dresses / prom dresses (that they just couldn't wear out in public again). And, added these lines for them to fill in: Stage Name, Favorite movie, Favorite actor, Favorite song.

Decorations:
Put a black paper tablecloth on the table and cover it with little gold stars. Use big gold stars from a paper supply store to use as place mats with black paper plates on top of them. Ring pops make great napkin rings with folded black paper napkins in a fan shape. Put them through the ring pop so they fan out like a bow tie. Place in the middle of the plate. Use black plastic utensils and hot glue rhinestones on them. Plastic champagne glasses can be used for Ginger Ale. Dress them up with gold curly ribbon around the stem.
Other decorations: See if you can get old movie posters. Hang white holiday lights and hang stars (can be made from foil on cardboard). How about a few directors chairs, one for the birthday girl with her name on the back of course!
Helium-filled balloons, thin-sparkle garland, foil stars, extra invitations

Cake & Food: Bake a cake in 9 x 13 pan, frost with white frosting. Put gold and silver foil wrapped kisses all around the edge of the cake so it would look like a marquee, and write Happy Birthday in red. (Super easy, but really cute) Use black glitter candles.

Goodie Bags: Fill up their goodie bags with remaining samples of make-up, bottles of nail polish, trial sizes of bubble bath, dark sunglasses, fake nails, and hair things. etc Also include a small notebook and pen...they will need to get each others autographs!

Games and Activities:

When girls arrive, collect the forms their parents filled out. Be prepared to fill one out if they do not have one.

Beauty Salon: Purchase lipstick samples, eye shadow samples, blush samples, perfume samples, ask an Avon or Mary Kay representative if they have any available. Set up a table with mirrors, Q-tips, tissues, all the above mentioned samples, and nail polish (which you can buy cheaply just about anywhere.) Tell the girls DO NOT share the makeup for sanitary reasons. For a party with younger girls, maybe you could ask teen girls to help out or enlist the help of the other moms to give the girls make-overs. Don't forget to take before and after shots of all the girls! Give the girls boas to wear.

Red carpet entrance: Purchase a red plastic tablecloth and folded it in half lengthways and use it as a runway. Announce each Diva from the form she turned in when she arrived. Stating, "And here is stage name, who recently starred in favorite movie with favorite actor. Stage name is also up for a Grammy for favorite song," as she made her entrance. A photograph can be made to commemorate the occasion. Holiday lights can be added to the edge of the runway for more effect.

Oscar presentation Paperdolls: Purchase inexpensive paper dolls with stands. Place each girls form into the "oscar" envelope after the red carpet entrance. One envelope per girl each with a different category written on them including best diva attire, best diva attitude, best leading actress, etc. Each girl wins an Oscar and a photo can be taken as she accepts her award.

Oscar decoration: Give the girls a chance to decorate their Oscars clothing.

Guess the Star - As each girl comes in the door put a name tag on her back with the name of a famous movie star (one that the kids would know). Then they have to find out who they are by asking the other guests questions. The other guests can answer any question, but must not reveal the name of the star. First girl to figure out who she is wins a prize.

Purchase some gold stars (12 inches) at a party store and some small, glittery letters. For each girl invited, label a star with the girls name, close to the top. Lay out the stars before the girls came (like Hollywood Blvd) then they can find them and have their Polaroid picture taken (in their glamorous finery). Next, tape/glue the picture to the center of the star and let each girl decorate it with glitter gel, small stars, etc.

Toilet Paper Chain Relay - Split guests up into 2 teams which stand in rows across from each other. The first person in each row has a roll of toilet paper. They have to put it through one sleeve and out the other and then on to the next person until the last person completes the chain.

Pin the Star on the Birthday Girl - Before the guests arrived trace your daughter on a large piece of paper. Give each guest a paper star and blindfold them one at a time. They have to stick the star on the picture of the birthday girl. The star closest to her heart is the winner. (Like pin the tail on the donkey)

Pull out the video camera and have the girls model, lip sync, karaoke or act out small skits.

Parents: How Much Would You be Willing to Spend on Your Child's Birthday Party?

I am thinking about starting up a kid's party planning business and i want to set a flat rate that I will be able to make a profit off of. What would you be willing to spend that much on a birthday party for your child (age 3-10ish)?

Answer
We're quite *lame* when it comes to our kids birthday parties. We live 30secs from the beach, have a big back garden, pool, trampoline, swing-set etc ... usually, we spend about $200 on everything : invitations, the gift, food, cake & entertainment. I guess we're more advantage in that sense.

Speaking from the point of view, we don't have them resources, depending on what your business, I would budget to $350/$400.

Throwing a "Pirate Birthday" for my 5 year old?

kids birthday party invitations quotes image

Dgirl

Interested in any creative ideas anyone may have for games, decor ect... I am also wanting to do a Treasure Hunt and would like some cute quotes I could use as hints. Thanks for your help!

Answer
for my sons third birthday we had a pirate party and it was a blast. The party was outdoors so this made it a pretty easy theme to handle. We have an old boat that we put in the back yard with an old table that we found in the attic of our house sitting out from it like a plank. We then bought a kiddie pool and filled it with water and let the kids take turns walking the plank. We bought jolly roger flags and had one hanging in the front of the house to let people know where we were and another hanging off the boat. I made the invitations using clip art of a treasure chest and used a LOT of pirate lingo! We also bought pre-made treasure maps but then added our own designs so that the kids could go on a real treasure hunt in our back yard where they found goldcoins, beaded necklaces, and stones that looked like jewels. I used the pirate ship theme for a lot of the food as well. I cut a watermelon in half in the shape of a boat, used a melon baller to empty it out and refilled with different varieties of fruit. I used long wooded skewers to place paper sails in each of the "watermelon boats" I did the same thing with the hotdogs only instead of using long skewers I used toothpicks (this was only for the older kids - but at age 5 you should be able to do this with most of the kids at your party.) hmmm thats about all i can remember... we just had our 4th b-day party last weekend and it was all about bugs... so thats whats stuck in my head right now! Hope the party is a success!!!

Do younger siblings have it better than older siblings?

JF

My younger sister is slightly more than 1 year younger than me, but we're on, like, different ends of the spectrum. Anyway, it's sooooo obvious that my whole family (Except me) loves her more than me. She's always getting opportunities that I don't get. For instance, she was allowed to take dance, tennis, and viola when I wasn't. Also, my parents made me quit the Reading Bowl team at school, but they encouraged her to join! My mom acts like a kid around her; they always giggle and talk in these artificially high voices near each other. Whenever my grandparents are on the phone, they always ask to speak to her, but never to me. She acts like a ***** and always gets what she wants. When I asked to buy this toy, my parents refused, but when she asked, they immediately agreed. Also, we were both invited to birthday parties one week apart from each other, and she was allowed to go, but I wasn't! I had nothing to do that day, and my mom's excuse was that "Oh, parties are BORING." When I asked why my sister got to go, she replied "Well, she [the birthday girl] changed the date for your sister!" (There was originally a confliction with one of HER classes.) But the dumb thing is my friend changed the date for me, too! Also, my parents always give my things away to her that I earned. Clothes, books, jewelry, etc. She takes whatever my parents don't give her without asking and never gets in trouble because quote and quote "She's YOUNGER than you so you have to be lenient with her." Even as she becomes older, she will ALWAYS be YOUNGER, which means I will ALWAYS have to give up stuff to her. I get in trouble for all of her mistakes, because being older, I have to teach her what's right and wrong. Last time I accidentally dropped a fork and got scolded for an hour about how I should be more careful and all of that (eventually leading to how I will be in trouble when I start driving), and when my sister broke a plate, all she said was "Be more careful next time." The worst part is, whenever I hit her, she cries and tattletales, after hitting back harder. I could hit back harder but then I would be in more trouble. She lies about everything! Even when there's clear evidence, she will keep up her lies. Another thing is, along with all of my retired or unretired stuff, she also gets more experience from me. Everything I have messed up or didn't know, she knows. She beats me at everything I did at her age. Also, she knows what courses to take, what teachers to like, and all of that at school. She gets more than half of her things from me. Her volunteer job was from me. Her math team invitation was from me. Most of her club invitations were from me. Also her eyesight is better than mine, because whereas I have to self-teach myself everything starting from high school, she gets support from both my parents (7th grade currently.), and when my parents don't have answers, I have to teach her. I'm not proud of her achievements even though my parents so I should be because I coached her because she never mentions it. Her goals are to always beat me.

My question is whether younger siblings really have it better. My sister always says I have it better, but I do not see how that is true. The only good things, I guess, are getting more privelages, but what the heck, she'll get them in a year so... And even though sometimes I am mean to her, she is always meaner and she causes the arguments, even though she denies it.

Answer
I have the exact same problem. My sister is 22 months apart from me so technically its a 2 year difference. I sometimes have it better than she does, like im allowed to have a boyfriend and if I mess up with him then she will have to follow the rules that have been set because of the mistake I made. But she does have it better in the fact that we both got a cell phone at the same time..which sucks...and then when we get in to fights, she will always start fake crying and so my parents go to see if shes ok and immediately think that I am so horrible so then I get grounded and yelled at. So in a way me and my sister kinda have it equal. But in your situation it all comes down to your parents, they are being incredibly unfair. This may cause you to be the trouble child because you are looking for the attention from them that you arent getting. You should try talking to your parents about how you feel

How do I politely explain that gifts are NOT expected at my birthday party?

birthday party invitations by email
 on Dinner Party Email Invitation
birthday party invitations by email image

Casey

I'm having a joint birthday party with a friend of mine in November at a local Mexican restaurant. I'm getting ready to send out the invitation email in a few weeks, and I want to make sure that everyone knows that neither I nor my friend expect gifts. We just want everyone to have fun and come hang with us. I'm afraid if I mention the gift thing in the email, however, it'll almost sound like I'm sort of fishing for gifts. You know? How would you phrase it?

Answer
I would simply say, screw the gifts, bring your empty stomachs and alcoholic tendencies to the party.

How to nicely ask someone to pay for themselves on an invitation?

Me

My 2 friends and I have a combined birthday party coming up and we were trying to make the email invitation and we want to ask everyone nicely to pay for themselves because it is 20 people that we are inviting. We are saying that we are not accepting gifts, but how can we nicely ask everyone to pay for their dinners? thank you all so much for answering! 5 stars for answers!

Answer
You shouldn't throw a party you cannot afford. There is no nice way to tell people you're cheap and they have to pay for their own entertainment when you ask them to come honor you on your birthday.

Is it appropriate for a family member to host minor child's birthday without discussing with parent?

Mom of 4

My husband and I received an invitation to our daughter's (his biological, my step daughter) 9th birthday party from my husband's sister. She never even called us and asked if we were doing something or if we minded her hosting a party. His sister made arrangements to spend the day with our daughter during her bio mom's weekend as to secure the time with our daughter without us knowing. Is it appropriate and how would you reply?

Answer
No, that is inappropriate. She should have discussed this with you and your husband.

How soon after invites are sent out should you start calling guests for their RSVP?

Karen

We sent out invitations for our son's first birthday party about 3 weeks ago. We haven't heard back yet from about 1/3 of the guests. The party is in a month. How much longer should I wait for a reply? When can I start calling those who haven't gotten back to us yet?

Answer
You do not call for R.S.V.P.s. The purpose of sending an R.S.V.P. is to have your guests call you, not the other way around.

If you've heard no reply - oh, I'd say a week - before a child's birthday party, then you might call some of the guests with whom you are close and chat for a little while. Casually mention the party, and if they tell you they are coming...you'll know. If they don't mention it...you've done all you are etiquette-instructed to do.

I understand that this is probably a less-than-formal affair since it is for a small child, and the formal rules of etiquette can be bent a little. But still to call and ask for a response is not polite. You might consider emailing a "reminder" note to those guests from whom you've not heard. Not a reminder that they've not sent their R.S.V.P., but rather a reminder for the party. This is not a request for a response on attendance, simply an addition to the invitation. That would be entirely correct.

Throwing a "Pirate Birthday" for my 5 year old?

How can I get a drawing turned into a graphic or logo?

tiffanytmi

I made a simple drawing for my sister's birthday party that I will have printed on several items (the invitation, balloons, party favors, etc). How can I have this picture made into a graphic image that I can then copy, scan, and/or fax. I would need it in basic black.

Thanks!

Answer
Vector image programs (Illustrator, InDesign, stuff like that) is your best bet. Scan it in, convert it to a vector graphic, and then you can resize it however you need to. The quality will stay the same, so it can be as large/small as you want, just make sure your lines aren't too thick/thin or they'll smush together and it'll be hard to tell what it is.

Can someone help me with my birthday invitation?

I am hosting a surprise 30th birthday party for my wife next week. Does anyone have any creative text or thoughts I should put on the invitation?

Answer
Here I hope this helps. I used the template/words to create a 70th Birthday party invitation for my Mother. I used the Hallmark printable invitations- boy do they look good. Looks like a PROFESSIONAL did it.

Good luck!

What should I do for my daughters 11th birthday sleepover?

camping party ideas games

camping party ideas games image

Abby F

The themes she likes are:
Camp (Like summer Camp)
Beach
Survivor
Sleepover Olympics
Dance Party
Twilight
Hippie
Mystery
Celebirites
Nightmare mansion

Please choose. Whatever one you choose can you please give me ideas for games, decorations and Crafts. Thank you!

Answer
I like the beach theme. Games your could play might be some sort of volley ball, the limbo, Frisbee, have hot dogs and hamburgers for food. drinks with little umbrellas in them, virgin daiquiris.

I also like the mystery theme. You can do like a "Clue" board game theme and act out the game in real life. You can do an era, like a 50's mystery party so everyone can dress up and you can have sparkling white grape juice for champagne with dinner.

Not that your 11 year old is like a play boy model, but there was a Girls Next Door episode where Bridgette had a murder mystery birthday party and it turned out really cool.

What are some ideas of things to do at nine year old girl's birthday party?

camping party craft ideas
on crafts week for kids here are ideas for tie dye crafts for kids
camping party craft ideas image

Brittany

My sister turned nine during the summer and is having her party this week. It was supposed to be a pool party, but because it's so cold out side, there will probably not be much swimming, although we would like to keep it outside. It is 2 hours long, though, and we need ideas to keep all the girls (15) together and excited and having fun. We need ideas from crafts and games. Already, we are doing sparklers and marshmallow roasting, and other ideas like those that can be done in the dark/late afternoon would be great!!

Answer
Have your guest bring sleeping bags, flashlights, pajamas, fuzzy slippers, etc.

1. Tie a balloon with string around your guest's ankles. On "go" everyone tries to stomp on everyone else's balloon.

2. Give all guests a toothpick to put in between their teeth. They form a line and try to pass a lifesaver or any candy with a hole in it to everyone with using only your toothpick.

3. Put truth and dare cards in a balloon and have guests pick a balloon pop it and answer the truth or do the dare.

4. Play hide and go seek at night

5. Have a silly string war

6. Put a cookie on your forehead and get it to your mouth by using facial expressions only

7. Have one girl be the pointer. She points at one girl to start off a random story then she points to another girl to continue it, and so on

8. Have a girl leave the room while everyone hides in their sleeping bags. The girl comes in and feels the bodies to guess who it is.

9. Have an equal pile of m&ms for every girl. One teen starts off by saying I have never... (I have never gone to Hawaii) If it is true for you, eat an m&m. Whoever has the most left wins!

10. Have a bowl of small multicolored candy (like skittles) Have everyone grab 2 candies. If they have the same color you get to eat them. If not you must keep this in your mouth. Round after round you stuff sweets into your mouth until you have 2 of the same color.

11. Play a classic game of truth or dare

12. Watch a movie.

13. Freeze dance

14. Put on mosquito spray if your going to be outside! Mosquito bites suck!

15. Play "Do You Like Your neighbor?".

16. Play hide and go seek in the dark!

17. Treasure hunt in the dark. (have people bring a flashlight to use)

18. Have a dance off... with bubble wrap. Try to pop the most bubbles.

19. Tea party! Pull out your finest doll china (if the kids can be trusted with it) and serve hot cider, finger sandwiches, and fancy cookies. As you play you can even teach your guests proper manners for a formal occasion (ediquete).

20.Camp out! Pitch a tent, pull out your sleeping bags, and let the kids sleep inside.

22. Do a huge puzzle all together! Put your smarts together to figure it out!

23. Dance! Teach the kids your favorite dance.

24. Test Your Taste Buds! Have one person make something from ingredients in the kitchen and then other person has to put on a blindfold and eats the food. The person with the blindfold on then makes a guess at what the food is or what ingredients are in it.

25. Drama Bag Game - Fill shopping bags with 5 different items in each bag. A shoe, hat, party favor etc. - but fill each bag with different things. Divide into teams and give each team one bag. Go to different rooms and create a skit which includes all items in the bag. After 15 minutes come back and perform. Variation: Create a song or commercial.

26. Play Mafia. It's really creepy in the dark!

27. Have friends bring over board games to play

28. Talk! Parties are a good time for friends to just get together and talk too!

29. HAVE FUN!!!!!!

For dinner have a "Mystery Meal". Give each guest a menu, but have the items coded like Dr.Pepper is Physicians spice. It is funny to see your friends so confused! Here are some more ideas:
âNeptune's Tridentâ (fork)
âPucker Upâ (lemonade)
"Shovel" (spoon)
"Finger Puppets" (olives)
"Early Morning Alarm" (chicken)
"Gold nuggets" Clue- Pocahontace (corn)

Party Menu

Pizza - take out or have more fun making your own with fun toppings.
Chips and dip
Veggie tray with dip
Fruit tray with dip
Make Rice Krispie Treats, Brownies or Cookies at midnight
Fondue
Hot Chocolate
Sleepover Smores
Smoothies

Make a Tutu! Instrunctions here: http://www.birthdaypartyideas4kids.com/tutu-craft.htm

Any ideas on how to throw a cheap, but fun bachelorette party?

dsafweaaaa

I am a poor college student who is lucky enough to be the maid of honor! I was wondering if anyone had some fun and cheap (key word there being cheap) ideas for throwing a bachelorette party? THANKS!

Answer
well, first of all you need to get the other bridesmaids involved- they should SPLIT the costs with you completely! Just because you're the maid of honor doesn't mean you have to pay for everything!
For inexpensive party- find a good location to have it at, cheapest would be someones house, find someone that is within walking distance to a few bars perhaps so you guys can go out for a few drinks. start off at the house with drinks and appetizers, play fun games, have good tunes on, make your own decorations and games instead of buying them from the store. either you purchase everything and divide up the cost and have the other girls pay you back, otherwise assign people different duties to be responsable for. go to the dollar store and get some martini glasses- one for each person attending- go to the craft store and pick up a paint pen and decorate each glass with the bride and grooms names and the date of the wedding around the glass- you can even write each guests name on the base of the glass and have it as the party favor and a way to keep drinks from getting mixed up! get a paint pen in either the wedding colors or pink is always good! make a special batch of martini mix in a large pitcher or cooler jug for the night also and give it a dirty name like "G spot martini" heres a list of recipes http://www.drinksmixer.com/search/?q=martini&d=1&p=1
I made my own penis cake mold- I shaped a large penis from a big piece of foam I got from the craft store (you want the hard foam) then I took heavy duty foil and wrapped it around the mold real good in a few layers, then remove the foam and flip the foil over to make a cake pan- fit extra foil around the bottom to make it sturdy- then just bake you cake mix as directed- let it cool completly before removing it from the mold and then frost in a flesh tone frosting using food coloring and white frosting and use chocolate jimmies on the balls like hair! looks really good and saves you like $60 from getting a penis mold from the store!
make a "Tree of Wisdom" for the party. you take a few large branches (go to the park and find some dead branches or something) and put them in a vase so it looks like a tree. then make either paper hearts or penis's out of constuction paper and attach a small wire so you can hang them all from the tree. then each guest will write down words of wisdom for the bride to be on them- penis make it naughty words of bedroom advice, hearts make it more heartfelt words of marriage advice! looks really neat as a centerpiece also. another fun game is "stick it in" have one girl holding a broom stick between her knees and another girl blindfolded with a roll of toilet paper between her knees then the girl with the toilet paper tries to get it around the broom stick. make up triva questions about the happy couple or maybe just the bride, a word scramble you can do on your own also- just mix up a bunch of fun bacholorette type words. you can make up truth or dare cards as a fun game during the night also- you can even take them with you to the bars for even more dare laughs. pick up a few prizes from the dollar store to give to game winners like travel mugs, candles, or whatever you find that you know you would like to recieve as a prize- stay away from lotions and crap- we all have enough of that stuff right?!

a night camping with a few girls would be super fun too!
Hope all goes well- email if you have any questions- I am happy to help!

im thowing a 15th birthday party and i need some ideas ?

Answer
This can be big or small party⦠it can be held at home or rent a banquet hall.
So how about⦠âA Blacklight/Glow In The Dark Party"⦠itâs pretty simple.

You will need to buy some black lights from your local dollar store. Call the stores first; most are out, usually available around Halloween season. (I do know Walgreen have them right now and usually always do. Go to your local Walgreen store or check the website to see which Walgreen store have blacklight in your area, type: blacklight... don't get the cheap kinds it doesn't work as great, fluorescents are the best.) Replace all regular light bulbs with the blacklights for the party in four corners wall. The lights will have better reflex. Buy glow sticks - necklaces, bracelets, etc. (Michael's Craft store have it right now for a dollar which it contain 15 bracelet w/connector pieces) Your party be in the evening can be held in the backyard or inside the house with a big-wide party room, but if you want it during the day, pick up some plain black sheets and drape all windows and doors with the sheets to keep the daylight from entering your party atmosphere.

Along with your blacklights, if it is possible to get strobe lights or a disco ball, go for it! Go to the mall - store called, Spencers. Check to see if it in your area or log on http://www.spencersonline.com) Add a very fun impact to your dance floor.
Also, make sure that the balloons, streamers and confetti are all white or lime green so that they will glow in the black lights. White balloons are the best, just put the small green glow stick (snap it on) inside the balloons and tie-it with a string around the wall or up from the ceiling.

Buy some yellow highlight markers and white paper banners to put on your walls. Let guests write on the banners if they'd like. Buy some big star glow in the dark stickers and stick them up on walls and your ceiling. For guests, pick up some:
* Glow sticks, and other glow jewelry
* Glow in the dark sunglasses
* White or neon hats for the guys and masks for the girls

As your guests walk into your party, hand them all their glowing accessories. There are tons of glowing jewelers sold at your local dollar store or party supply store. Make sure that every guest comes to your party wearing as much white as they can! White glow in the dark.

Invitations:
Get âCrayola Color Explosion⢠Neonâ it lets you create wild multicolored effects with a single color-reveal marker! The unique clear-ink marker works only with black Color Explosion paper, revealing hidden colors for amazing designs. To make many invitations, cut in half like a postcard write the âTitleâ of your party on the Crayola Color Explosion and then turn it over and write the details: who it for, when, time, where and RSVPs ⦠enjoys⦠this is ones cool invitations!

Food:
Make sure that it is simple and not something that will require a lot of light to prepare. I would recommend to prepare any food before the party begins or order take out. Get some glow in the dark cups and ice cubes or just a white cups/plates/etc. Serve your guests like Lime Soda or Mountain Dew or buy some package of green or yellow Jell-O package and mix it up with Lime Soda. Serve drinks with glow in the dark straws. Serve food on simply white party plates. Get sherbet ice creams and cupcakes/cake in neon colors. Theyâre fun.... be creative and fun!

Do not over do it with food, âcuz youâll have a lot of leftovers. Be simple and easy with food.

Get blacklights and ask everyone to wear all white. Their clothing will definitely glow! It is a great idea to have a dance at your glow in the dark party. Mix some techno in with your favorite music. If you can, hire a DJ for the party. (These days DJs now have all equipments for blacklights/glow in dark lights⦠meaning you may not needs to buy âlightsâ stuffs, so checked out with the DJ first and also know about the costs upfront⦠they made not be cheap for their service.) Dance the night away and have a glow stick limbo contest, neon hula-hoops, and hot potato with glow in the dark ball, play flashlight tag with glow sticks, and have "the best glow in the dark face paint". Just for fun get some glow in the dark blow up balls (like the beach ball) to throw around the dance floor. (One ball is perfect.)

Do what you can do...itâs not necessary to do all, just be creative.

Have a super great time!
