Who has fun Photo Birthday Invitations that are cheap?

I'm really struggling to find affordable photo birthday invitations for my special 7 year old niece. All I can find are either really cheap looking cards with cartoon characters, or very expensive traditional birthday invitations. I can't see spending $1.75 a card on this - especially with the economy these days. I'm looking for designer "style" without the designer price, so nice looking regular photo cards will have to do.

Any ideas or experience?

I totally agree about the cartoonish designs... I've used the site below before. There are a TON of places where you can get really nice looking invitations without paying a fortune.

Etsy is another good place to look. You can get some pretty cheap prices... not sure about how the transaction works though.

When should I give out Birthday party invitations?

My daughters birthday is October 5 (rigth before Holloween) She turns 4 years old. Her party is going to be October 7, she wants a theme party which is Sleeping Beauty Trick o Treat Party. Where the kids have to come with a costume. But when exactly schould I hand out the invitaions?

i always give out the invites 1 month in advance and i include cards inside so the children can respond to the invitation on their own....my daughter loves getting the stuff in the mail in her name. this gives the children plenty of time to correspond.
