You can try Evite. This is usually used for Email invitations, but they may have something you can print out.

I'd like to just cut & paste a birthday invitation template (and fill in the party details) to a microsoft word document. I've tried searching for this but no luck. Thanks --

do you by any chance have a program called "microsoft works' on your machine? alot of the times its preinstalled..
look for it, they have some birthday templates there, among other things.
