I'm having a birthday dinner with a bowling party afterwards.

Guests will pay for their own meals (don't tell me about etiquette , we are a close knit family and go Dutch at events all the time)

After dinner the bowling party will be free for all people under 21 . The people over 21 ( the parents of the people under 21 ) will have to pay their own way if they want to bowl ...

What is the best way to word the invite so everyone knows the paying expectations for both events ( dinner and bowling )?
And DO NOT tell me about etiquette . Like I said , for the ppl I'm inviting this will NOT be a problem ... I just want to know how to word the invite.

I guess I would write the invitation like this:

We will be going out to a birthday dinner. However, meals will not already be paid for so if you're a guest (or guests) you will have to pay for your own meal(s). After dinner, we will have a bowling party. If you are over 21 years old you will have to pay for yourself if you would like to bowl. Any person under 21 years old will be able to bowl free of charge.

I'm inviting about 40 of my closest friends and family to dinner and bowling with me for my birthday party.

The expectation is that all people will pay for their own meal at the restaurant - this won't be seen as an issue because (as a family) we do this all the time. The wording becomes interesting when we want to invite people to go bowling afterwards where all people under 21 will be paid for and people over 21 will have to pay for themselves .. The people under 21 are seen as my "guests" since I'm turning 16 so my mom said she will pay for them.

How do I word the invitation so everyone clearly knows the expectation for how their dinner and bowling night (in my honor) will be paid for?

I believe I would send out 2 sets of invitations to the appropriate parties and in the over 21 invitations, I would include a ''disclosure'' explaining the circumstances so that they understand the ''under 21's '' are included as special guests of you and otherwise the other guests are self-treating.....it is only polite to explain to the ''over 21's'' the stipulations of the event.

on Saturday the 9th of May
at 8pm for celebration drinks
and nibbles.

Its going to be a relaxed 21st cocktail party with close friends. I want to write maybe something funny on my invite or anything really because i havent written much at all and Im stuck with the wording :( I dont want it to be a boring invite i want it to be unique :) ANY ideas would be a great help!!!! :)

My friend is having her 21st birthday soon and she wants to send out cute invites. We are trying to get everything together but we are trying to save money by doing the invites ourselves. Like getting the paper, typing it up, and printing it ourselves. We just need a cute saying or wording to put on the invite. Something cute about her 21st birthday. Does anyone have any ideas? how should i word a masquerade ball invitation?

i'm having a masquerade ball for my 21st
and i'm unsure as to how to word the invitation. i thought i'd start with a quote about a masked ball and then go on to listing the date, time, venue, etc. i'd like it to sound formal, but not over the top.
and i'd like the guests to bring gifts for a charity organisation instead of for me... any suggestions on how to put this in writing without sounding too official?

Just list the masquerade ball as the theme for your party.
Any mention of gifts on any invitation is against proper etiquette. In fact it is downright rude and low class.
