I am 13 and we are planning my quinceanera but my mom and I feel like we need more invites . . so we dont want to spend so much money on a big party if not too many people are going . Whats a good alternative to a quinceanera party , maybe a way of having a smaller yet fun celebration , or something else , btw I live in Phoenix Arizona if that helps .

A cheaper alternative is to go to a public entertainment place & pay for everyone's admission, which would be cheaper than buying food, decorations, DJ, etc. For example, we happen to live 10 minutes away from a Six Flags. For my son's birthday one year, we decided to have a family day at Six Flags with Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles & Cousins. I had offered to pay a portion of everyone's admission, but instead all of my family ended up buying season's passes (they were having a special at the time). Then all of my family did the same when the kids with summer birthdays came up. We would go to Six Flags for each child instead of expensive parties.

Apply the same logic to your Quinceanera. You live in Phoenix, I'm sure there is tons of stuff you can do. Do your bowling alleys have Glow Bowling like we do with DJs? Picnic in the park? Is there a cool place with mini-golf and go karts? Tea Party with an Alice in Wonderland theme? For my son, we are thinking about doing an Amazing Race themed party this year to change things up. You could do this cheaply enough and it's easy to do for a smaller party. Just do teams of 2. Here's an example of how it's done: http://www.teenpartyideas.com/html/amazing_race_parties_7.html Check out that whole website; there are tons of ideas for different themes!

Another cool one is a movie-themed party. You can rent a projector from Taylor Rental or similar companies. If you have a house with a backyard have the party at night. Hang a white sheet and you have an instant movie screen! Lay on blankets under the stars, serve ice cream floats, popcorn, hot dogs and movie candy...all inexpensive. Play movie trivia games; buy your decorations next year right after the Oscars in February. The party stores will have invitations and decorations on clearance. There are so many things you can do cheaply if you're creative. Half the fun is planning, so good luck and enjoy it!

What should I do for my 13th birthday?

I didnt have a party last year, so I really want one this year. My birthday is in december, so pool partys are not an option. Does anyone have any Ideas?

*I'm pretty sure there will be NO boys.

For me at that age (17 now) I just wanted to have fun and chat all night. So we didn't really have anything planned, we were just gonna go with the flow, see what would happen. We put mattresses in the living room, hired some movies and we'd see what we'd do. The only thing that I really had planned was the food. I always like doing something special in that area, like, for example: to gourmet (I'm not sure if that's the word in English (I'm Dutch)), which is where there's a big heating plate on the table and everyone's got it's own little pan to cook. Chocolate Fondue is also real fun to do together, a big pan full with chocolate fondue (http://www.lhj.com/home/Chocolate-Fondue... and then all kinds of fruits, cookies and cake to dip in it. Or to bake pancakes together or for everyone to create it's own pizza. Or to create your own desert with buckets of icecream, fruits, sauces, whipped cream etcetera etcetera. Although this may be a bit more cheezy and young then mature. (I still like it tho)

Also what always will be fun: bowling, miniature golf, swimming, giving each other beauty masks and makeovers and all the other cheesy, cliche girly stuff.

If you're not having a sleepover, just a fancy dinner party is so much fun as well, especially when you all prepare it together! With the whole invitation thing and fancy dress code, even tho you might not be that fancy at all!

PS: at my party: we ended up watching all the movies rented, making a walk through the forest at 2AM, having huge english breakfast and having chocolate fondue and pizza for dinner.
