Birthday Party Invitations?

choosingha

My son will be having a birthday party at an indoor facility where kids can play. Now for the birthday party invites for his classmates, can I just put my email address for the RSVP because I'm not a phone person? I know it's tacky but do you think it can work?
Or can I just put an email address and a phone number and the guests can choose how they want to RSVP?

Answer
This is just another example of how far we have come as a society and the role that technology plays in our lives.

For my own personal reasons, I would put down a phone number because I am a fan of doing certain things the more traditional way. But, it's not about me.

I think that putting both of them down is a good idea. This way you leave an option for people who would prefer to call and those who are too busy for phone calls or prefer e-mail such as yourself.

Check out this theme idea!

Sweet Dreams Slumber Party

Invitations: Pick a theme for the invitation that you like. Sports? Love heart? Teddy bears? Clouds? Smiley Faces? Guitars? Horses? Rainbows?
Whatever you choose for the invitation, carry the design elements and/or colors through for your whole party, from party ware and centerpieces to balloons and food to give it a coordinated, cohesive look. For example, if you choose a Teddy Bear theme for your invitation for example, invite your guests to bring their favourite bear to the party, have bears holding serving dishes on the food table, etc.

Decorations: Welcome your guests with a sign created around the theme used for the invitations. Even a custom-created banner by you is cool!
Are lots of fancy decorations really necessary when the whole roomâs filled with sleeping bags, pillows, and blankets? Probably not. But favors and activities are important. Why? Needless to say, there will be little or no sleeping at this party, so make sure you have lots of diversions on handâ¦polish for toenails, makeup for face-painting, and lots of disposable cameras on hand to record the eveningâs mischief and events for posterity! Load up a boombox or multiple CD player with favourite tunes. Give your Mom and Dad earplugs and tell them to go to sleep. (After all, they have to be up early to feed your darling friends.) Eventually, everyone WILL drop off for a snooze.

Food: Have a table set up with snack foods and beverages so everyone can have a midnight feast! By the time everyone wakes up you can have a gourmet breakfast spread out and ready. You can do the cooking yourself, ask your parents to help or have the breakfast catered and served or just prepared and delivered -- it all depends on your budget! Your breakfast fare may include any or all of the following: fresh fruit, waffles, pancakes, omelets and eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, hot and cold cereals, fresh breads, pastries, bagels, muffins, whipped cream, cream cheese, crepes, quiche, cinnamon toast, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, juices, or anything else you can think of that would suit their fancy.

Games: Charades and other games. Ask around for favourites.
Camp it upâ¦dress up in hats and masks and more (see below) for a picture taking photo opportunity that will make a scrapbook and/or video to remember.
Spa nightâ¦have someone come and teach make-up tips, do each otherâs hair, nails, and review fashion magazines for the latest trends.
Dancinâ in the Darkâ¦music brings out the best in people. Check out the latest dance moves and teach each other.
Boy Talkâ¦like youâre not going to do that anyway!

Capture your party from your guests' point of view with single-use cameras. Leave one on each table and a basket by the door as people can drop them in as they leave! Think of the fun you'll have when the pictures come back.

Have fun at your slumber party!
