need help with birthday invitations and ideas for my 4 year olds "messy" party!?

Jennifer R

i am planning an outdoor messy party with activities such as painting (with brushes, rollers, sponges, or just their little fingers), will also have markers, glitter, glue, stamps, all kinds of art supplies. other messy things to be set out, colored whip cream, play-dough (with cookie cutters and other "tools"), water, sand, crazy string, maybe a jello pool, cornstarch or flour. going to have a table where they can decorate all ready made sugar cookies with icing and sprinkles and such and an water play area (sprinkler, pool, slip n slide) so they can rinse off and clean up. . also going to be taking before and after pictures any other ideas? kids range in ages from 1 - 8.
i am planning on letting my son help make some invitations any ideas on that? and some wording too!
thanks in advance

Answer
For the invitations, splatter-paint! Sounds like fun! Ooo, how about, "get messy in the sun for lots of fun at _____ birthday party!"

Will people attend a tea b-day party for an 8 y/o if its held at the bottom of a church with its own entrance?

I am tight on money this year because of my youngest daughter's 1st birthday party and my oldest daughter will be 8 a month and a half later. For my oldest we are doing a small (10-12 max) old fashioned tea party. The kids will be in fancy dresses and there will be special tea party games and party favors, the whole deal. The only place I could find that would fit the theme and allow us as much time as we need (4-5 hours) is our church. It has its own entrance and there is no religious stuff down there. The girls I am inviting are my daughters girls scout troop and the troop meets at another church often with no problem. Will people be offended coming to a church and is there a way I can word the location on the invitation to make it sound better. I was thinking So and So Presbyterian Church's Banquet Hall.

Answer
I have held 8 birthday parties in church halls, as have many friends, and nobody has complained about the location.

I have had several friends ask if this is where I worship at the party but to be honest, a church hall is no different than a community hall.

Have a nice party. By the way, I have done all parties at the church hall and several friends have comments how much better my parties are to the ones being held at the local Health Centre / Ball pit centre where the kids play by their own.
